Hp 550 charger socket overheat

i have hp 550 the charger socket over heats causing the charger to damage very quickly i changed the charger socket but nothing happened although the cpu doesnt get heat so ithink there is no problem is the fan
And alos due to that the usb port is beside the charger when i plug in my pendrive it get warm so any suggestions please
PS: my battery is almsot dead iit can do for only 20 mins or less

Prime,
The overheating of the AC adapter indicates that there is a short where the adapter socket is connected to the board.  This could be caused by bad soldering, bad adapter, wrong socket or bad system board.  It's hard to determine on the forum.

  • HP 550 charger not being detected?

Hi, I currently have a problem with mY HP 550 charger i have not been able to use my computer for over 6 months cos of this. the laptop is around 3 years old, a while back my charger was working normally and then all of a sudden it stopped working... it wasnot charging the laptop at all..... I have tried to put it in again and again...the  charger is still not being detected. andi t wont charge the battery.. I had to resort to using libary computers (ughh my god there slow)  so now my laptop battery is dead.... I decided to try and fix my laptop today..... when I put my laptop charger in the light goes bue then white and then it just goes blank.... tried it with the another AC adapter which is compatible with my laptop still not working... tried my PS2 AC adapter not working... HOW CAN I FIX THIS?!?!

Please be careful what adaptors you plug into your notebook. Some adaptors have different voltages and amp capability.  You can damage your notebook if you apply too much voltage. I believe your adaptor should read 18.5 volts, 3.5 Amps and 65W but that information should be printed right on the adaptor. Make sure you don't use and adaptor you should not be using. Have someone test your adaptor to make sure it is putting out the correct voltage.  Try to remove the battery and just plug in the power adaptor and see if you can turn on the machine. Try to reset the machine by removing the battery and the power adaptor and holding in the power button for a full minute, then plug the power adaptor back in and then the battery and try to start the machine. Let us know what happens.

  • Hi my charging socket is suddnly stop working and i am in india so how can i repair here ??

hi my charging socket is suddnly stop working and i am in india so how can i repair here ?? i called up in apple support center in banglore but they dont have any detail about it as well. so please help me to replair it.

There is a possibility that the square charger plug that goes into the wall plug has burnt out.  That happened to me on a recent trip.  It went out with a "pop" and after that, it was dead and would not charge anything.  These chargers are sold in several electronic stores.
Now I always travel with a spare square cube wall charger.  They are very cheap on eBay ( a couple of dollars or so).  In an electronics store they might cost as much as $20.
I would certainly try this first.

  • Hp Pavilion charger socket seems dangerously tight!

I bought an hp pavilion less than two months ago. After that length of time, the charger socket (or the charger) malfunctioned. The pin from the charger ended up lodged into the socket. I have no idea what caused this to happen.  I was very lucky to get a replacement on warranty.
However, my new notebook charger socket also seems very tight so I am worried that the same thing may  happen again. so I have a few questions.
    1. What is likely to have caused this to happen?
    2. Is it a problem that has been common to the pavilion series?
    3. How can I prevent it from happening again? I do not believe that I was inserting or ejecting the charger too forcefully.

  • Iphone won't charge after overheat warning

Ok so every night I go to sleep I plug in my phone to charge, play some youtube videos or listen to music or podcasts( on the official apple app) until i fall asleep and every morning I have woken up to a fully charged phone, I have been doing this for about 1Year and 5Months no issues, however about a week ago I fell asleep listen to a podcast, whilst my phone was charging, when I woke up  the next morning I went to grab my phone and found that there was an overheating warning, i mean It was so hot I couldn't hold the phone for more than five seconds, so I placed it on my window sill(outside) for five minutes and it cooled down and worked perfectly, next few nights I listened to music and the issue didn't occur, however, two nights ago I listens to a podcast again and when I woke up the next morning my phone was 100% charged but boiling again with the heat warning, this time I hung it in front of my fan until it cooled down, after a full days use of my phone( no performance issues) I went to charge it up, this night I did not listen to anything, when I woke up the next morning 10hours later my phone had gone from 10% battery to only 18%, it had been like it ever since and just won't charge, is there an issues withy charging dock on my phone or my battery? Many thanks
(i have already cleaned charging dock with toothbrush and tried different sockets and leads)

    (SOLVED)
After 10+ hours, Since it works in the BIOS screens, I decided to wipe the drivers.
Plugged my phone into a driverless windows and it works fine.
The reinstalled drivers did not work for me because I didn't manually wipe the driver files
Plugged my plugged my iPhone in and everything suddenly works
Next I have to go to war with my malfunctioning windows update
Thanks zelous for the suggestion, though it didn't work because my iPhone wouldn't connect at all. it did point me in the right direction. Thanks!

  • Broken charger socket

The standard chárter socket en muy playbook es broken. Can i recharge using the micro USB and if so which one¿ I cannot find a brand ro fit. Thanks

The port in the middle is the microUSB. The other port that looks similar to a microUSB port is an HDMI output. You can't charge from that. The third port with the three contacts is for the magnetic rapid charger. That is the port I recommend using to charge a playbook as it results in less wear and tear. Unfortunately, you need to purchase the rapid charger separately.

  • Broken magnetic charger socket, can't charge laptop.

    Hi everyone,
I've only had my mac for 2 months and already the magnetic charger is broken. I don't know how it happened but it looks like it's been chipped. Is there anyway to fix this DIY style or do I have to take it to a shop?
    Cheers.

2 months?  I would take it to the apple store.  They can usually get you up and running quickly.

  • Charger socket broken!!!!

hey, a couple weeks ago my phone charger wasnt fitting in the fone properally i found out it was because of the charger element inside the phone as it was becoming wobbly, but at the time it was charging fine, until then one day i put the charger in a and took it out again and the chargeing element from insde the phone came out with the charger, this now means i can not charge my phone anymore. i just wanted to no if anyone knew how much it would cost to send it to repair!
    please get back to me
    thanksyouuu.

If the card edge connector is truly broken and it's not just an obstruction inside the charging port, then you would need to have Apple replace the entire iPod for a fee.
    Looks like $129: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/

  • Iphone 4s stops charging then overheats if kept plugged in

I have been having a problem with my iphone for a couple weeks now where it will randomly stop charging (or stop recognizing the charger) even though it is not fully charged. If i dont notice that it has stopped charging the bottom of my phone will heat up to the point of causing burns to me. The cord on either end will also be super hot. I have used four different cables, two charging adapters, and my macbook and it has done it all on all of them. My computer will give me a warning saying that the usb is drawing too much power and will cut of supply or something. Sometimes it wont recognize the charger at all when I first put it in but I can take it out and replug it in and it will charge it for a little bit. I did do a docking port replacement about a month and a half ago due to the last one corrosion but the problem didnt happen till recently.
Any Ideas? Im not having luck with googling anything. I also cant figure out if its a software or hardware issue. Please help! Thank you!

It sounds like the previous repair you did created some problems. You should stop using it and setup Out of Warranty Service through Apple.

  • My iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. HELP!

My 4th generation iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. I tried buying a new cable and USB charging socket (and I bought one made by Apple), but that did not fix the problem. I restored it from iTunes, hoping that would work as well, but that failed. I am at my wit's end. Can anybody here help me? I've bought new equipment, tried rebooting, restoring, etc. but nothing so far has proven successful. If anyone's got a solution, please help!
    Thanks!

All I can suggest is the standared fixes. It seems very strange
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Bring the cable and Apple wall charger too.

  • 5V Cooling Pad into wall socket

    Hi good day to all!
I have a 5V cooling pad for my laptop
    My qustions are"
       1. Can I run my 5V cooling pad using cellphone charger and plug it into wall socket?
       2. Can I run the 5V cooling pad to 12V power, Is it possible?, How? What are the things to be use?
If I'm not at the right thread, please transfer me, hoping for coordination, God bless

    aldec,
I'll add on - you may want to match up both voltage and available current (amps) capacity.
So, if it is 5V, do not connect to 12V as Bill notes.
If the cooling pad and charger are both 5V, that's great, but check the input current requirement for the cooling pad and match that with the current (amps or miliamps) output of the charger.  The charger should provide equal or greater current than is required.  If the cooling pad requires more than the charger can provide, it may cause the charger to overheat.

  • IPad 2 Wi - Fi 16 GB Black charging & restarting issue

I'm facing some problem in charging of my iPad 2 Wi - Fi 16 GB. it is not starting up without plugging the charger cable in a power outlet, and after a while when it opens up shows 81% charge and lasts for a mere 2.5 minutes and restarts.
It is not even starts when plug into a usb port of a PC or Laptop! just showing low battery ( red ) logo and apple logo, and keep on doing that. its only when I put the charging cable into it and attach the cable to a power outlet it show up apple logo then start up with start up tone , and every thing is ok for about 2.5 minutes and then suddenly it shuts down and restart...I have reset the tablet once within this 2.5 minute time frame but the problem remains, and if i pull out the charging cable from i-pad it does not even starts.
My question is whether it is repairable at home? is it a software or hardware related issue? if it needed service center care so how much it may cost ( i.e. Battery or charging socket / IC if required to be replaced?)

I'm sorry you have this error on your Ipad EMMIGOMAG.Did you attempt to shut it down completely? Is there any damage to the device? Are you having issues with any downloaded application? Keep us posted.

  • 6735s.Failed Charger, Now Battery Playing Up? Laptop Wont Boot with Charger Plugged in!

    Hi,
I have a HP Compaq 6735s and have owned it for around 2 years. The OS is windows 7 Ultimate, I have the installation CD.
The other week my charger for the laptop broke, and I ordered a new one from Amazon. The charger was advertised as an orginal/genuine HP charger (although I doubt it is).
As soon as I got the charger, I put my laptop on charge, The orange light around the charging socket came on to indicate it was charging. I leave it half hour to an hour and try to turn on the laptop. All i get is the fan on and nothing else, I pulled out the charger for a split second and the laptop boots fine. However, I left the laptop on charge overnight, and it gained only 9% charge!
When the laptop is on, and plugged in, the fan is on. As soon as I unplug the charger, the fan turns off. When the charger is unplugged, the ring around the charging socket will flash orange, and the battery will decrease very fast! Once the laptop has been powered on, and the charger unplugged, if it gets plugged in again, it doesnt charge, it just says "plugged in, not charging".
This is very frustating, and it makes me want to not use the laptop, which is not an option, as I need it.
    Hopefully someone can help me!
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Here is a link to your notebook's support portal. Use the troubleshooting in the solve a problem section.
Did you ever calibrate your battery?
Chances are that your battery is no longer serviceable. Two to three years is a reasonable amount of service life for a Lion battery if it was never calibrated and/or has been left plugged in for extended periods of time. A battery that will not charge beyond 9% probably has issues.
Use the HP Support assistant to perform a battery status check. Also consider calibrating your battery. Calibration  resets the 100% to the maximum actual battery capacity.
    Best regards,
