HP 550 laptop recovery

I would like to know the steps to take when i want to recover my hp 550 laptop from a recovery partition.

Try marking the Recovery partition as Active...if it is available as option, sometimes is ,sometimes not.
1.Right-click on "Computer" icon and select manage.
2.This will launch the Microsoft Management Console.
3.On the left side of the MMC, click on "Disk Management" and it will show you all of the partitions.
4.Right-click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Active Partition."
5.When the warning prompt appears, select "Yes" - Reboot and it will automatically boot into the Recovery Manager (without pressing F11).

I have hp g6 series laptop. I have some problem with opening files,it is showing .dll file is missing. And i think virus also infected my laptop,So i thought of recovering my laptop for first time by myself(laptop is still under warranty period only). But when i switched on and pressed F11 and then i found out that system recovery is disabled. System Recovery is loading when i press F11 but i'm not able to click on System recovery(I can do system restore there but not recovery).
Windows 7 home basic OS in my laptop and i never changed OS in this laptop.
Can anyone know how to solve this?
    Help me with this.
    Thanks,
    Kutty

    Hi Kutty,
Have you created a set of Recovery Discs?  If not, see the guide on the following link.
Create Recovery Discs - Windows 7.
If the above doesn't work, or you have already created a set of Recovery Discs and misplaced them, then the fact that the Recovery Partition does not give you the option to select System Recovery may well indicate it has corrupted in some way.  This being the case, you'll need to purchase a set of Recovery Discs from HP - using these discs to reinstall the operating system, will also re-create the Recovery Partition as well as reinstalling all of the software that originally came with your machine - the only exception to this will be Office Starter.

  • HP 550 Laptop Overheating

Hi, I currently have overheating issues with my HP 550, when i had bought this laptop gushes of air used to come out of the side air vents, but know theres hardly any air coming out, the fan usally comes on at the logon prompt with an AC Adapter, but when im on battery it comes on when i spend more than 10 mins on the computer, the fan temps reach up to 100 Degrees. Any help would be appreciated!
By the way my warranty is expired.
    Computer Specs:
    Intel Celeron 530 @ 1.73Ghz
1 GB RAM (1014MB due to memory allocation)
    111 GB Hard drive
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3

I have a similar problem, so I hope someone can help.
My temperature doesn't quite get to 100º, but when I am doing something a bit intensive the fan kicks in and the computer sounds like it's taxiing for takeoff. I imagine the fan / CPU / heatsink are clogged with dust as the air flow is pretty pathetic. Therefore I decided to get in and clean it.
I've seen the instructions for removing the keyboard and switch cover on the HP website but I hit a problem. I can get as far as loosening the back edge of the switch cover but my cover doesn't slide off effortlessly like in the video. I've applied as much force as I dare but it really feels as if something is holding it. I can lift the back edge by about 15º and that's it.
Can anyone offer advice on how to get the switch cover off? Or an alternative way to get in to clean the fan and CPU?
    Thanks in anticipation.

  • Finding a HP laptop recovery disc

My hard drive crashed and I don't have an operating system disc.
I bought a new hard drive but have not installed it---I was told
by a friend I need to find and get an operating system disc.
Can you help me find one?

If you never made your Recovery Disc set-you may be able to order from HP depending on how old your laptop is. HP still carries most Windows 7 discs and of course Windows 8.
US/Canada models can usually order from the Support page. Or you can phone HP Support. If you live in the US, contact HP Here. If you live in another part of the world, start here>>Contact HP
In future requests for help it usually speeds thing up if we have your Model & Product Number.

  • Laptop recovery issue

While trying to recover the laptop to factory setting using the recovery disk am getting  message unable to read from the  disk"      Boot64.WIM

You may want to try copying the discs on another computer and then using the copies or ordering recovery media from Toshiba. If they still won't work, there may be a hardware failure with the laptop.

  • Stolen laptop recovery?

My wife is really happy with her new Air, but as others have noted, it's so easy for an unscruplous person to walk away with it, especially since there's no security slot for a cable lock. I know of three software tools intended to assist in recovery of a stolen laptop (of any sort) each of which claims to be the best ever. I wonder if anyone has direct experience - normal daily use, or an actual theft event - with any of them that they could share?
    The candidates are:
    1. LOJACK FOR LAPTOPS (http://lojackforlaptops.com/products/theft_recovery.asp) - the original in the field. Best sounding recovery service.
    2. Orbicule (http://www.orbicule.com/) website vague on details, attractive rate for family license' offshore (Belgium) company which could be a disadvantage for US buyer.
    3. GadgetTrack (http://www.gadgettrak.com/products/verey/) best price (one time fee); also has "coming soon" product for soon-to-be-my G3 iPhone which I like and stickers & service for other less exotic devices. Otherwise web site is vague on details.
    Thanks!

I am always sorry to hear of misfortunes like yours.
The chances of you having the notebook back are very slim if you don't have LoJack for laptops installed and with an active subscription.  I know it is not what you want to hear, but that is, unfortunately, reality.
With your next laptop, backup your data on an external disk at home in a safe place.
    Best regards,

  • A105 Laptop Recovery Problems

I added Linux as a second system on my laptop.  After, it would boot to a GRIB file which would ask which system and, after selection, load one or the other.  Deciding that I didn't want Linux any longer, I ran the recovery disk understanding that it would 'wipe' the hard drive and restore the original Toshiba configuration.  On restarting after the recovery was complete, however, I was met by an error message announcing that the GRIB file could not be found.  Any help in resolving the problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Satellite M45-S331
    Downloads are here .
Whatever you did, John, you did not restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media.
If you have a Windows XP installation CD, you can install Windows fresh and repartition/format the disk in the process.
If you don't have the proper recovery disc, you can order that from a third-party.

If you failed to burn recovery discs you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here .
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 70 of the User's Guide.

  • Laptop recovery cd's

I have a toshiba satellite m305-s4910 laptop and it is full of viruses and antivirus popups.  I need to restore it with the restore cd's but i don't have any and i don't show a restore partition or an option to create some restore disk.  Is there anyway that i can order the restore disk through the toshiba website.  This pc is only 5 mo. old.  Thanks

If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Laptop recovery disks

I was having trouble with my laptop, so much so that it would do nothing but repeat the same things over and over when I turned it on. Wouldn't even let me go to the F12 reboot page. I ordered recovery disks from Toshiba with a 100% assurance it would clear up the problem and restore back to original factory settings. Well, of course, it didnt work, ran it twice and I'm still getting the same error messages. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how to fix it without costing a fortune. It's my daughters laptop so I am not going to spend $300.00 to fix it when I could buy a new one for that price.  Thanks for any help I can get.

when you turn the computer on tap f12 until the setup menu comes up. rearrange your boot order to cd/dvd drive as number 1. save and exit. let the laptop continues to start to windows and insert disc 1 and restart the laptop. when it restarts it will boot to dvd drive and begin the process. choose recover to factory out of box and follow what it says to do from there. make sure it is plugged in so it doesnt die in the middle of the process.

  • Laptop recovery - Factory settings

I have a Satellite P755-S7165 and I had to do a recovery to "factory setting".  I had to complete format to remove a virus.  I had only one question, when I original purchased this laptop it was 1 TB.  HARD DRIVE*1.0TB: 500GB (5400rpm, Serial ATA) + 500GB (5400rpm, Serial ATA).  I can only see 1 500 GB drive under the Computer.  I can see 2 drives under the device manager?  How do I get the second drive back with the additional 500 GB?

You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - using these to reinstall the operating system will also re-create the Recovery Partition on the Hard Drive.

  • Laptop Recovery Partition

    I have a dv5000.  It has a recovery partition (D.  I would like to "start from scratch", but I need to know -- does the "Recovery" do more than just re-load Windows XP?  In other words, will it also re-install all of the preloaded software that came with the machine, such as MS Office 2007, etc.?  Thanking you in advance, MR Clapper 12-28-2013  {Personal Information Removed}

Recovery reinstalls Windows plus original drivers and software- with the exception of Office usually.
