HP 5button comfort mouse-wired. mouse pointer runs down the screen by itself.

Hi all, I have recently lost control of my mouse. The pointer runs down the screen and I am unable to click accurately on
any buttons etc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled without success. My system is Win 7- 64 bit. I have been told this is a driver problem. If so, how do I fix it? Incidently the mouse works perfectly on my Vista laptop and my XP desktop so the
mouse is not at fault. Any help will be gratefully received.  RegT

  • Using Trackpad - mouse pointer creeps around the screen

Hi all - i have just noticed this since the upgrade to Snow Leopard
but left to its own devices, with no mouse attached, the pointer will slowly (3mins max) make its way to the top right of the screen
Annoying more than anything but shouldn't be happening on a £2000 laptop!
everything is up to date - any advice?

I'm having a similar problem. My Macbook Pro is 2 months old and just yesterday the pointer started moving of its own accord. I have no mouse attached. The pointer creeps down the screen, from top to bottom in 1min 30 sec, in a perfectly vertical line. This happens whether I am touching the trackpad or not. It is causing a lot of mis-clicking.

Having an intermittent issue where my iMac blanks out on me. On restarting I get several bands running down the screen with pixels jumping around within the bands, then the white screen of death and nothing... This happens intermittently and usually restarts OK. Happened again three days ago and wouldn't restart for two days (again the bands/pixels etc) but now operating fine? Any ideas whats wrong with my iMac and what the solution may be? Also gets very hot from time to time, particularly if I'm playing music/watching youtube/movies for extended periods. • Mouse pointer jumping around the screen

My mouse pointer has just started jumping around the screen. It vibrates and slowly moves down the screen even if I am not touching it. I have cleaned the sensor but that has not helped. I unplugged it and the pointer still jumped around.
Any ideas what might be causing this as I have not seen quite this problem on other discussions.

    HI,
That's interesting... restart your iMac. See if that makes a difference.
Also, do you have anything nearby that might cause interference, like a cell phone or graphics tablet?
May sound crazy, but dust and lint build up on a mouse pad can cause erratic cursor behavior.
You could try deleting this file.
    com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your iMac.

  • Thin black line running down the screen

Just did latest update and noticed on the reboot a thin black line running down the left hand side of the screen 8cm in apex.
Any one else got an issue or fixed the issue?

Sounds like a problem with the display. Contact your local Apple Store or AASP and make an appointment to have the display looked at. > Apple - Support - iMac - Service FAQ

  • Why do I have a thin blue line running down the screen?

There is a thin blue line running vertically down my imac screen a little to the right of the centre. It disappeared for a while - i think after I tapped a certain key - but then re-appeared and will not go away. What is it? How do I get rid of it? Mark

  • First day... Lines running down the screen.

    Sigh.
So I get my BRAND NEW, 2.0 GHz Black Macbook today, and I'm wondering if something is wrong with it.
In looking at my screen, it appears that there are lines panning downwards, like it is progressive scanning. (They're a lighter color, and don't appear to be normal)
The lines are horizontal, and run from top to bottom and at the right angle it's obvious that it is going on.
Just wondering if I should take this in and it is repairable, or if others have experienced this problem or what...
    Man this *****.

If you have a new machine (within 14 days) and you're having a problem, you should be able to have Apple replace it for you. I have heard of other people experiencing similar problems (albeit only a few)... but if you feel your machine is clearly behaving in a way it should not, there is no reason not to bring it back to Apple and have it replaced.

  • Squiggly line running down my screen

I've just noticed a random squiggly line* running down the screen on the bottom half center of my iMac (Intel Core i5 27 inch) screen. I don't believe I'd noticed it before, had this iMac for a few months now. It's very light, more noticeable when the screen happens to be dark but it's definitely there. It's not ON the screen, almost seems like its pressed between two plates if the screen were made of two plates. Tried different screen savers and desktops, it's most definetely there. Haven't had this iMac 6 months, am I still under warranty? And what with the squiggly line??? Anyone? Thank You! MG
*imagine a particularly intoxicated snail traveling from point-a to point-b and the line it would leave behind. THATS what it looks like. And no, a nail hasn't been anywhere near my iMac

"Squiggly line"? Only an Apple Tech can tell you. You have a one-year warranty. If you bought Apple Care, you have longer coverage. In any event, call Apple, tell them what you see, and when you bought the computer. It's really a matter for them to resolve.

  • Suddenly experiencing lines running across and or down the screen

Starting a few days ago, I started to notice a line running across my screen, when I am on safari. Sometimes the line runs down the screen. It kind of flashes really quickly and then disappear. I have never noticed it before until a few days ago. It usually happens when I am reading an article or looking through blogs.
The line appears to be a thin gray line and it run across the entire screen.
Anyone know what it is and why might it be doing this? Is this normal?

No, the problem does not happen often enough that I can depend on it showinhpg up. It randomly happens. I have noticed it usually happens when a page is loading...
The page will load and about half way through, a gray line will quickly flash across or down the screen. Sometimes it also happens when I am pinching to zoom in, zoom out on the screen.
Is this normal? if I can not show the apple store genus, do you think they still can try to troubleshoot the problem?

  • Mouse or trackpad automatically scrolls down the screen

Hello everyone. My mouse, without moving in the screen, automatically scrolls down the window I've got selected, don't know why. During this problem if I try to scroll upwards, it'll scroll down again, therefore I can't read websites, etc.
It happens for a few secs, and then becomes normal again automatically.
Any ideas or even better, solutions? Everything's updated, but it's really weird.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my poor English, not my first language.

Don't worry about your english it's fine. English is my only language and I still have problems with it.
I'm going to take a wild stab at this as it happened to me some time ago. Do you have a pen tablet with the pen laying on the tablet?

Make a smart playlist of your whole library but only checked songs - #4 on  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1801
Highlight all files in that playlist, then drag to the other drive.  This isn't preserving any playlists or whatever, just copying files from one drive to another.
You might want to delete the smart playlist this once you are done because it will probably gobble up resources with that many files.

  • HP Laserjet 4P has a 1" toner stain that runs down the left side of page.(front and back)

    Hello all,
This is my first post here and I hope someone can help me.
We have a HP Laserjet 4P that we have used for a few years and recently have had a problem of a 1" toner stain that runs down the left side of the printed page(both front and back side). I have replaced the cartride and cleaned everything I know to clean. When I remove the cartridge, there is a little pile of toner on the left side just in front of the horizontal silver bar that is behind the roller. I have cleaned it up several times. Each time I try to print, The toner stain appears on the printed page again and leaves a new pile of toner in the same place.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem? I am not sure if it is a worn part or a maintenance issue.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi ProspeorusCE,
The product you have is a commercial printer. I suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a solution.
