HP 6340F CPU random Fan failure warning and shutdown at startups. :-(

Get CPU FAN Failure warning and shut-down at random startups. it has been thoroughly cleaned as have been the fins. Will boot up afer 2-3 restarts and runs OK rest of day. There are no obstructions or interferences and fan appears to be visually performing at a good speed.
This PC is a critical-need unit as used as a main access for polio-disabled operator (me) and the many free web pages I do for non-profits, churches/etc. as well as medical research. I realze that story is, perhaps, non-essential information, but need the help that I can no longer provide for others or myself. Also the essential unit for my Ham Radio operations (w4nov.com) ;-)

Let's start by checking your BIOS settings since you have already inspected the CPU Fan.
This HP troubleshooting article should help us
Error: CPU Fan Failed
If you are unsure about the CPU Fan settings or you don't see the settings. Navigate through the menus and reset the settings to default.
After resetting the BIOS try booting the computer and monitor the results.
That is the easy fix before we start looking at having to replace parts.

Firefox 36.0.4 randomly crashes without warning and especially when mutiple windows and tabs are open-never happened earlier, very frequent now.

I am currently researching for an article to write and consequently have many PDFs open simultaneously. I use the Foxit PDF plug in.
However, I've been doing this for very long now and have never faced such crashes where all my windows close without a warning despite there being no other processes running. I get no warning whatsoever. I usually also have YouTube and Gmail open as well. MSI Motherboard, Cpu, Heatsink/Fan

Hello everyone !!
Im not to familiar with these forum help lines so Bear with me.
I have a "MSI K9NBPM2-FID" Mobo and I am looking into a Cpu "AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core black edition Processor Model ADO5400DSWOF". This does not come with a Fan/Heatsink, so I am looking into a "Thermaltake / Blue Orb 2 / Socket 775/939/940 CPU Cooling Fan for Intel and AMD Processors".
Will these combonation work together or is modification in my near future?
I read thru the MSI Cpu support listing for my Mobo, and I seen the 5400 in there, but that was not a Black Version. I have also seen listing were my Mobo only accepts Cpu's up to 5200+ ! I'm Kinda lost with that !
That leads me to another question, If yall dont mind. That list tells me what is compatiable with my Mobo. I need to consider the Cpu's with "SINCE 5.8" in the result row right ?

Cpu fan 90B alarm and plugged in but not chragiung alarm

I have HP notebook product: b6u29pa#acj and model: g6-2101TX.
I am getting following problem:
A. while start up pc i found alarm 930B cpu fan failure and then after restarting window7 start.
B. many time when i put laptop for changing it shown plugging but not charging and led near to charging port keep on biking white colour. that time charging not happen so if i removed charger and keep on using notebook my battery level is not getting down and suddenly at one point notebook power off. That means battery getting used but notebook not getting understand and giving me battery low alarm. Then i have to remove battery and insert it again. it will work for 2-3 days n then same problem repeat.
( pl note that note book battery is good and giving 2-3 hours backup when fully charge)
Both my problem was chronic so i took photograph when problem came and then given laptop for repair at service centre as it was under warranty.
Then next day i received call from service centre that my laptop ok pl come and collect. so i went to service centre when i checked found same problem so they took back and said motherboard is faulty.
for CPU 930B fan alarm they only clean fan may be alarm will come in few days.
after 8 days yesterday i received call again from service centre that my laptop is ok.
now my question is if my laptop is not ok then what to do? as my warranty was exp. on 23.08.2014 ( i need few days for trial ) may be after replacing motherboard any other problem appear. Will HP give few days for trials?
or any government intervention is required ?

I understand you have issues with charging and a 90b fan error on startup.
To address your question about a trial period after repair: Typically the repairs should include a 90 day service warranty or the remainder of your existing warranty whichever is greater. This depends if the repair was done by HP or an authorized HP provider. HP Phone Support can confirm this for you.
If the repair was not done by HP or an HP service provider HP cannot guarantee the work of third party companies.
The power not charging the notebook could be an issue with the battery, internal power connector cable, power adapter, or motherboard. All of which are hardware related.

To sum everything up. I suggest you get in touch with HP Phone Support as soon as possible as they are the ones who can give you a straight answer regarding service and warranty questions. My answers are based on personal experiences, as the forums do not offer service and are available regardless of the warranty status.

System fan error on g62-352ca on startup. are there two fans ie a cpu fan and a system fan?

I get a system fan error on power up? Are there two fans in the G52-352CA? Ie a general system fan and a CPU cooling fan or just the one CPU/heatsink fan?
If it is the CPU/heatsink fan then there are 4 part numbers for different options. Is there some way to tell from the model number or features as to which is needed. I would prefer to have the part in hand before opening everything up. Are there better fans to buy and if so how do I find them? This unit was always running a little on the warm/hot side,

Macbook Pro fan running constantly and CPU running slow

So, I have a Macbook Pro 2010 2.3 i7 that has started running really slow and the fan is running constantly.
In activity monitor it shows a kernel_task running constantly at around or above 200%.
I have tried all the regular tasks. PRam reset, SMC reset and nothing seems to fix it.
I have also tried a system reinstall to no avail.
Maybe I'm on the wrong track, but from what I have read, the kernel_task might be trying to slow my CPU down because it thinks it is being overworked?
Maybe the fans are also being activated because it thinks the computer is too hot?
Anyway, if anyone has any idea as to what I can do to figure out what is going on, let me know. Thanks

"Fan Failure" and strange revving noise

Hi everyone,
*I'm noticing some troubling stuff from my Dual 1.8 PowerPC G5:*
-Console is reporting "Fan Failure" literally every second.
-Persistent high/low revving noise (recording: http://mg.freeshell.org/g5sound.mp3).
-iStat Pro reporting 76rpm slot and 51rpm backside (temp range of 29-37 degrees celsius under load).
*So far, this is what I've done:*
-Tested with Apple Hardware Test and Tech Tool Pro. Both found no errors.
-Checked that all fans appear to be spinning.
-Insured red light on logic board isn't lit.
-Tried to pinpoint the source of noise. Hard to say, but sounds loudest by the dual processors.
-Reset the PMU.
-Reset the PRAM.
-Reset the NVRAM (via open firmware).
-Reinstalled OS X Leopard via erase/install; installed all updates.
*More background info:*
A week before the "Fan Failure," I noticed a BIG drop in speed/performance. I installed more RAM by temporarily moving the front inlet fan and I also cleaned the inside of the machine with compressed air. After this, I noticed the machine lacked the normal revving sound on startup. I reseated the front inlet fan and startup sounded okay, but then the G5 proceeded to freak as described. I removed the new RAM, but problems still persist.
*Any ideas? Please advise.*

The only thing I can think of is not a failing fan, but a failing logic board sending the wrong values to the fans (iStat reports the instructions passed on to the fans, the fans do not report back the actual speed).
Although the temperatures seem normal, 76 and 51 rpm for the mentioned fans is far to slow. The slot intake fan of my late 2005 G5 turns at 1500 rpm and the backside fan at 1000 rpm all the time.
Did you check the new RAM in the system profiler, because that also could be the cause of many problems.
I'm sorry I can't provide you with a definite solution.

CPU Raises to 105*C and fans stay at 2000RPM...

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro (see sig for specs). And it has been running great. The first few days it ran a little hotter than I would have liked, but things have calmed down.
However, I just installed World of Warcraft on my new rig-- part of my reasoning for buying the new system... and I am having some odd behavior. I play in windowed mode so that I can monitor the temperature of my CPU, and things seem a little off.
After booting the game and running around a bit-- within a 3-5 minutes, the temp of the CPU has raised to 105*C with NO relief from the fans. The fans remain at 2000RPM while the CPU cooks. I keep force quitting the game when 105 is met, so I can't say whether the fans would kick on at 106, or 110. I don't wish to find out. The fans should be kicking on at 80 or something more reasonable. I can't explain this.
The fans ramp up when I do other tasks that tax the CPU... I have yet to see them go above 4000RPM.
I should not have to resort to installing a third party software for the purposes of controlling fan speed. The OS should do so in a proper manner. However, I have installed SMCFanControl and have been able to play WoW with the fans at 5000RPM and a CPU temp of 80*C.
Under Snow Leopard-- what temp triggers your fans to kick up (even as little as an extra 500RPM)?

Tm2t cpu temp between 40-65 and fan always on

HI I just got my TM2t XQ330AV - intel core i5 u470 and amd etc.
Well first of all, the fan is always running even with the option for fan disabled.
I also notice the tempurature of the laptop is pretty warm to touch and where the vent is at, the temp is noticeably warm.
On idle, (im running current ver of core temp) my cpu is around 37-47 degrees with 2-10 percent load.
From the reviews, this laptop was supposed to be cool running.
Also, I have fully charge the laptop overnight and have it unplugged now with the lowest power setting on, brightnss to about less than 50 percent and im already at 65 percent battery after just 1 hour. At this rate, i dont think im going to get to the 5 hour mark others been raving about.
What do you guys think?

For example:
I have my macbook on a hard flat surface, and the rear vent is not blocked by anything and is not packed up with dust. My room temp is 68F.
I opened Google Earth and set the globe spinning. I opened iTunes and burned a playlist to a cd. I opened Safari and played a video from Hulu.com. So those three apps and FlashPlayer were all running above 20%CPU for about 10 minutes and the fan ran at 6200rpm but kept the cpu temp below 185F. Once i quit everything except ActivityMonitor all the cpu processes dropped below 5% and it took about 3min for the cpu temp to get down to 130F and the fan idled at 1800rpm.
Im pretty sure this is normal for the macbook. I believe the max operating temp for your intel cpu is somewhere between 212F and 221F .

The warning is there so that people realize they need to be aware of the possible outcome if they don't properly check their fans during the setting up of the software.
The guide even suggests to keep a constant watch on the CPU's temperature during testing, and suggests how you can immediately spin up the fans to max in case of a too high temperature:
Second warning: Some of the steps outlined below describe how to tweak fan speeds. Before doing this be sure you have a low cpu load and are comfortable playing around. If at any time during tweaking you notice the CPU temperature start to rise dramatically, do a echo "255" > /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/device/pwm1 to spin up the fan all the way until things cool down. Basically, you should know what you're doing before fooling with the configuration file.
Alternatively, there's a fan control deamon called dellfand. A related topic can be found here:

Essentially, all these tools do the same. The temperature is polled and the fan speed is adjusted.
As far as I know, there is no alternative way / graphical tool to do this for you.

considering this is a dell studio, have you checked the system's bios to see if the automated fan control is enabled?

Cpu Cooling Fan

I have a L645D-s4056. It has been shutting down without warning.  After doing all the heat things, checking the fan, regluing the heat sink, replacing the battery, blowing it out and throughly cleaning it, testing the power cord, resoldering the power connections. We determined the Cpu is getting hot, like the fan was not cooling it properly. However, the computer even when cool and idoling was still shutting down.   I had a diagonotics done on the computer at a local shop. They said the cpu and the mother board test good.   Therefore, leading them to tell me the problem would be with the cpu cooling fan.   I'm now understanding that there is a main fan which is vented out of the side, and the cpu itself has its own fan.    Can anyone verify that this is true?
I also was able to keep it on long enough today to, to use the Toshiba recovery wizard and completely restore it back to factory settings, so all window issues with cooling have now been cleared also.
If this is the case, where is the best place to purchase a cpu fan, and if anyone would be able to supply what the part number might be. I am trying to find a cost, and I am not the person that knows how to take the computer completely apart, so wondering if anyone knows the info.
2nd does anyone have pictures, websites etc as I have seen in this forum previously to provide help with replacing .. and where it is etc.   The person fixing it is knowledgeable but as someone that isn't im trying to provie the most info as I can.

One thing that often causes overheating and shutdowns is using non Toshiba supplied drivers. Especially chipset and graphics/display drivers. Stick with the Toshiba ones.

E4000 Key switch fan failure

I have an E4000 that listed several failures in prtdiag associated with a failed PPS. The PPS in question was not working at all and I have not replaced it. Prtdiag is still listing Key switch fan failure and prom detected failure.
Any suggestion on what might be the cause?

I don't know which fan I need replace and which fan is the FAN two, who can help me?
2970 fans are NOISY. So power it up and look for the one that's not spinning or is the most quiet one.

N560 ti TFII Fan Failure-Options

Hello everyone in the msi forum, as the title clarifies, i'm having serious fan issues, apparently.
The card is a msi n560 ti twin frozr ii, then oc version, i've had it for 2 years now so the warranty obviously already ended, the card worked beautifuly for the 2 years, i'm very happy with it, until recently when playing videogames the pc would reboot itself out of nowhere, constantly, i thought it was a videogame issue and not my pc since rebooting itself constantly never happened before, people kept saying it was overheating which i didn't wanted to belive since i have a decent case and it's very well ventilated, but since the issue was still there i decided to check the temps with hwmonitor and oh my god, the temp was sky high on load(up to 100ºc), and unusually high on idle(35-35ºc). Only the card temp was high, everything else seemed to be working fine
My knowledge in hardware is limited but decided to remove the side panel and check the card, neither fan were spinning, at all, so i took the pc to a friend's place and took it apart. Heatsink and fans had a lot of dirt and particles and fan blades wouldn't spin, so we cleaned it as best we could applied thermal paste, we couldn't open the fans to clean them up good, they have no screws on the base so we couldn't clean it 100%, after that we assembled it back together and took it back to my place but didn't worked very well, one of the fans appears to run way better not sure if it's fully working or not but it spins allright, and the other one at times it spins a little bit and stops, randomly, and does a grinding noise, so it doesn't look like it's fully dead it seems like it wants to turn but it's still jammed or something, my question is is there anything else i can clean the fans further with and try to bring them back to life ?or should i consider them dead ? I'm pretty sad that i may lose my videocard due to a fan not spinning.
BTW card driver and bios are up to date, checked temps with both hwm and msi afterburner - case is coolermaster 690 with frontal, side and upper coolers - cpu is amd phenom ii x6 1090t, has a cm gemini cooler - 4gb ram :( - msi mobo can't remember model.

Thank you for your reply flobelix, i guess then i'll start looking into those two, altough the one i was looking at is the deepcool v4600 which according to the specifications fits in my card. To be sure i'll give it another shot at cleaning the fans at least one last time, since i just checked and the fan that wasn't working started to spin apparently, not as it should be but whatever maybe i can still save it, ifnot, aftermarket coolers.
