HP 655 won't turn on, power light on and won't turn off.

My HP 655 laptop has apparently gone into sleep mode, permanently. It was up, went into sleep mode and now it will not come back up. I have removed the battery and unplugged the power source for an hour. As soon as I plug in the power or battery, the power button lights up but the laptop will not turn on, no matter how long I hold the power button down. I even plugged in the HDMI cord to make sure that it wasn't the screen, obviously,  which it wasn't.

Hello  ,
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product, try performing a hard reset. Lots of information in this document that could help. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
Here is a link to computer won't start for Windows 7. Windows 8 here.
Here is a Youtube video that might help. It shows you how to reseat the HDD, which sometimes helps.
Thanks.

  • Toner lights and power light blinks and printer won't work

The ink lights are blinking in sequence along with the power button.  I have changed all of the ink cartridges with the correct 920 type and have made sure they are all seated correctly.  I have also flipped the cartridge carrier lever and reset that.  Everything seams to be fine.  My computer tells me that all the ink levels are full after inserting the new cartridges.  I have rebooted the printer with and without the usb connection, cleared all printer jobs and it still keeps blinking and won't print.  What else can I do??  Appreciate any suggestions.

Hi @salvador64 , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're experiencing printer issues. I would like to help!
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.

  • TECRA 9100 - power light flashes and will not start up system

my laptop will not start up - all I get when I push power on button is the power LED flashing the following sequence. S-S-S-S-L-L-L-S(S=SHORT, L= LONG)
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS CODE INDICATES.
The only thing I might have done was to put a screw (b8 which is 12mm) into the network card locking switch slot on bottom of laptop that says MAX 4mm .
Any info would be appreciated to [email protected]

    Hello
Unfortunately here is no public document about explanation of those hexadecimal codes and I can not tell you what it means exactly. The fact is that power supply electronic has detects some malfunction and sends code.
Sorry but I dont believe that you can do something alone. Try please to contact service partner in your country and explain them the situation.

You can try disabling emoticons and image previews in your IM appearance settings in your Skype options to see if that changes anything.  Some people running Windows XP have had odd graphical and resource issues with versions of Skype above 7.5.  The alternative solution would be to downgrade to Skype 7.5 for the time being.  You can find links to 7.5 in the thread below. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Skype-7-6-crashes-on-startup/m-p/4031560/highlight/true#M353247

  • Comp. turns off after 2 sec!!

Ok, this is a fairly long and complicated problem. Please read through these. Thanks in advance!
Ok, well, i just got my K7ND Delta-L mobo today and after I put every thing into it, I turn on my pc. Well for about 1 second it looks like everything will be ok, but suddenly, it turns off. If I unplug the power suppy and plug it back in, I can try to turn it on again, but it does the same thing. Power light for a short while, then off. The power supply is 425 Watts. So I'm thinking maybe it's that power supply so I change it with a 300 Watt one that works flawlessly (as it was just in a comp i was using today) same thing happens. I've got everything pluged in (video card, power to mobo, power to cpu, cpu fan, ram, both ide drives, extra usb, and all the little led lights and switches). It looks like the power supply is working because the lan lights on the back are both lit up. So now I'm thinking that maybe the power supply isn't big enough. Is the power supply not big enough, do I get a new one or change the voltage on it from 115V to 230V?
    My specs:
    AMD Athlon XP 2700+
    Crucial PC 3200 DDR Ram
    Western Digital 80GB HDD
    Polaroid BurnMax 40X CD-RW Drive
    ATI All-in-Wonder 9600Pro
    MSI K7N2 Delta-L nForce2 motherboard
    Thanks in advance!
I have rephased the problem at the bottom of this thread.

i had some expirenced builders (3 of them) at my house and they failed to fix the problem.
    Here is the problem rephrasd:
I have plugged everything into my motherboard (Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe) and
double checked the connections and the jumpers but when I press power
button, the pc starts for 2 seconds and shuts off. The processor is an AMD
2700+. I have taken it down to just the processor and ram but same thing
happens. I have tryed getting help on message boards (
    http://bildeau.go-gaia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=672944&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
    and
    http://cgi.techtv.com/messageboards?action=whole_thread_view&board_id=17&topic_id=73&thread_id=2557827&per_page=50
I have also tryed an MSI K7N2 Delta-L motherboard and switched out an
AMD 2800+ and new ram and have tryed a total of 3 power supplies (the
newest one is an Enermax EG465 that outputs 33A on the 12V Rail, and 35A on the 5V rail and 35 on the 3.3V rail) in both mother boards and tryed powering
up, but the same thing happens. Power goes on and the fans spin for maybe
1.5 seconds and then they stop spinning. No bios screen or anything
appears on the monitor, no beeps. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • IMac G5 blinking power light / won't turn on

When my iMac G5 is hooked up to power, the power light (front bottom right panel) faintly blinks once every 2 seconds or so. The monitor is not on at all, and the computer does not appear to be running (no sounds).
All other devices hooked up to that particular power outlet are working fine, and pressing the power button does nothing. Holding the power button down halts the blinking, but when I let go the blinking resumes.
I have also tried removing all devices attached to the computer, including the keyboard and mouse.
This machine was working fine on friday, but when I came back into work today (monday) the machine was 'off' and nothing I do seems to cause any change.
    Very confused, any help appreciated.

It may be that your Power Supply Unit is failing, look at the suggestions here, try them and if nothing works, call Apple. If you have a Rev A, you may qualify for the Repair Extension Program. (sorry to assume you didn't know about sleep, sometimes very basic things are not known to posters).
Please let me know how you make out,
    Miriam

  • I have bought the wireless keyboard for my iPad.  I was working for a day but now the power light won't stay on and as such won't connect to the iPad.  I have changed the batteries but still no difference.

I have bought the wireless keyboard for my iPad.  I was working for a day but now the power light won't stay on and as such won't connect to the iPad.  I have changed the batteries but still no difference.

Not knowing which wireless keyboard you bought, it is difficult to be specific.  but ...
it is quite normal for the keyboard's power light not to stay on - it is a way of conserving battery power.
    Try this:
    turn you keyboard off
on your iPad go to Settings > Bluetooth
if your keyboard is listed under Devices, then touch the little blue i to its right and choose Forget this Device
now reset your iPad:  hold both the Home and Power buttons down for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, let go promptly when the Apple logo appears and wait another 30 seconds for your iPad to turn itself on
After your iPad is back on again go back to Settings > Bluetooth
now turn your keyboard back on and see if it appeard under Now Discoverable
if it doesn't read your keyboard guide to figure out how to put it into Discovery mode
touch the listing for your keyboard under Now Discoverable, it should now appear under Devices
touch the listing for you keyboard under Devices, and choose to pair with it.

  • My one day old MacBook pro just turned off and it won't come back on either through mains or battery power

My one day old MacBook pro just turned off and it won't come back on either through mains or battery power it's as if the unit is completely dead. Even with the mains plugged in there is no green or orange light to say its charging or full charged. The battery was fully charged anyway seconds before the screen went off.

When you say no green or orange light are you refering to the little led on the magsafe connector?  That could mean either the charger/cable are bad or the circuitry in the MBP is faulty.  Since this is a brand new MBP best bet is to take it back to an Apple Retail store and have the genius bar staff take a look.  They can determine if it needs to be reparired or replaced.

  • My Mac Mini won't start. The Power light blinks continusly (not pulses)

My New Mac Mini won't start up. I bought it online from J&R a week ago. My monitor says "no input detected" and the power light blinks. I recently fed it the gray mac os x install disk one, which it won't give back. Holding the mouse button when it turns on doesn't have any effect. So now i can't put a disk in or start it up.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
No video with the power light blinking once per second means either bad or no memory. See this Apple note: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303083 . Specifically, below is from that note:
If the computer detects no SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory, also referred to as RAM) or the RAM installed does not meet the appropriate specifications, the screen will remain black but the power LED on the front of the computer will blink once per second to signal the error. This error condition may be due to physically damaged RAM, installing the incorrect type of RAM, or not having RAM installed.
Has it ever worked since you got it? If not, you should call J&R and tell them they sent a dead on arrival system, and ask for a replacement (ask them to send a will call tag or prepaid label to send the non-working machine back).

  • I accidentally dropped macbook air that was in a book bag. The keyboard is working because I can see the light but the screen is black and it won't turn off. How should I fix this? Please Help ME!!

I accidentally dropped my friend's macbook air that was in a book bag. The keyboard is working because I can see the light but the screen is black and it won't turn off. How should I fix this? Please Help ME!!
I tried to turn it off and it didn't work... and I held on to the shift key too and it still doesn't work..
    Please help me..

Accidental damage is not covered under Apple warranty.  And it seems there is much accidental damage.  Only a Genius Bar tech looking at it can tell how much it will cost to repair.
Cost to repair will be high, I suspect (though Genius Bar will confirm/deny.
There is no gentle way to say this sir/ma'am ... someone will need to pay for your friend's MBA repairs.

  • HP Color Laserjet 3550 - the "attention" light won't turn off

I've tried everything I can think of for weeks but I can't get the "attention" light on my HP Color Laserjet 3550 to turn off.  It originally came on when a page on from the manual input tray got stuck maybe 20% of the way in.  It was a real easy fix,  I pulled the page out and now the "attention" light won't turn off.  So I can use the printer at all.  I've had this printer about a year. I purchased it used.  I've always had the manual feed tray as the default because I use this printer mostly for envelopes and less than 81/2 x11 printing as I have an old workhorse HP 4+ for all my straight 81/2 x 11 printing. I've rebooted. I've unhooked cables and the router.  I've opened up the printer and removed the casing (the plastic apparatus on the door)  and replaced it. The router is a 2Wire HomePortal 1800HG.  I'm just baffled here I've printed so much with the manual feed tray and I've had allot worse things happen that I've had to fix.  Now a simple stick like this and the light just wont' go off.

    HI Vern,
Where did you bought the printer? may you bought it from a different region than your current one?
What is the exact cartridge number of both the black and the tri-color ink cartridge, as well as their product number?
I bought the printyer in the US and the cartridges also came from the US,  probably no the same state.  Cartdridge # 97,  black # 96.  I don't see a product number.  This is the same # that was in the printer before and the same one I always used.   As soon as I pull it out the light goes out,  and on again as soon as I install it.  This is before the printer even cycles through it's "new cartdridge" routine,  if you know what I mean.
    thanks for the reply
