Hp 6600 wireless won't scan; can't find computer; MS 8.1

Officejet 6600 wireless works fine as printer, but can't find computer to scan to.  OS is 8.1.  Also there is no printer control software on my desktop.  Software is up to date and firmware appears up to date.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are not able to use the Scan feature on your HP Officejet 6600, you can print fine but when you attempt to scan it does not find the computer.
I would like you to start troubleshooting here: A 'No Computer Detected' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays When Scanning for HP Officejet 6600, follow the steps listed under the Windows 8 section.
If you are still not able to scan please leave me with the following information:
1. How did you install the software and drivers, CD or download?
2. Did you just upgrade to Windows 8.1 or was this pre installed?
3. Have you ever been able to scan?
4. How is the printer connected USB or Wireless?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless Won't Scan Under Snow Leopard

    After installing Snow Leopard, my new HP Officejet Pro Wireless 8500 all-in-one printer won't scan. It delivers the following error message: "No Scan Options - refer to device documentation".
    Also, when I attempted to check and adjust scan settings using HP's Scan Destinations program, that program hangs and cannot save any setting changes. Then I have to use "Force Quit" to stop the program from hanging up while saving.
    HP's software update reports the printer software is up to date.
    It appears there are a ton of printer problems appearing for people after installing Snow Leopard, but I sure would appreciate any help on solutions if someone also has this problem.

    I also just tried connecting my 8500 wireless printer directly via usb and then downloading the HP printer drivers from Apple downloads and reinstalling.
    The install hangs nearly forever on the final step, but eventually says the driver install was successful. However, then when connected via usb, I am unable to print. Printing works when you reconnect via the wireless on the 8500.
    So connecting via usb and reinstalling HP printer drivers does not solve the issue. And it's puzzling, because the list of supported printers under Snow Leopard lists the Officejet Pro8500 Wireless as supporting both printing and scanning.
    Somebody has it wrong.
    If this scanning problem continues very long, I may be forced to uninstall Snow Leopard, because my printer is brand new.

    As of a couple weeks ago my can not find wireless networks even though they exist.  I try to refresh the scan with no luck.

    Is your router plugged in?  Do you have internet?

    I have the same issue.  Yesterday I could connect to my wifi just fine, but today I turned on my wifi and the wheel just spins and spins.  I restart my phone and I get the "greyed out" wifi switch. So I restart, and I'm back to square one.  The wheel just keeps spinning.
    I've updated the router firmware, I've power cycled everything multiple times, and still nothing.
    Can anyone give a real solution? Or do we just have to suffer until apple update this **** IOS6?

    I recently was having problems with my computer where it would crash and I had to do a system restore.   • HP Photosmart C309a AiO Wireless on and working, can't find network!

    My printer stopped printing a couple of days ago.  It was fine, now it is not.  The blue wireless radio light is on but when I run the network set up, it just runs and can not find my network.  I have run the network diagnostic and it finds my network, but does not find my printer.  On the test page, it fails on SSID.  I could use some help to get this guy back up and running!  Thank you!

    Have you run a Wireless Network Test on the printer? Press the Setup Button>Network>Wireless Network Test. Let me know if the printed report shows any errors.

  • HP Deskjet 3520 Prints too small and when trying to Scan it says can't find Computer..

      HP Deskjet 3520 ALL IN ONE & E-PRINTER I have had this printer about 1 year and have never got it to print out things(Some) where it can hardly be read. (I have to have a magnifyng glass to read some of it others fine. The kind I AM NOT ABLE to read are pre-printed materials.  The kind I AM ABLE to read adequately are things I type out on my Computer and then copy or print out it does fine..  Also when attempting to Scan a piece needed to Scan and printer set to Scan it said no Computer could be found. Can someone tell me how to fix these problems. This printer says 'ALL IN ONE e-Printer but it does not fax.

    I see you are trying to make the font larger on your printed output, but the small text is only happening when you print from programs aside from documents you create. If you are using Internet Explorer you can use this document; Text is Small When Printing from Internet Explorer. If however, you are using AOL you can following these instructions from this post, 'how do i make the text larger'.
    As you can see modifying the text size is going to depend on the program you are using. If you are not using Internet Explore or AOL, can you please post back with more detail. What Browser are you using and what Operating system do you have?  Mac or Windows?
    I understand you are also getting a communication error when you try scanning.  Running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
    Connectivity:
    USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
    Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
    Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
    Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
    Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
    Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
    Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
    Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.
    Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
    Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
    Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
    Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
    Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.

    If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
    If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
    If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
    If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
    If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.

  • Itunes won't open-can't find MSVCR80.dll

    Running Windows XP. downloaded the latest undate to i tunes and the system won't open.  Message says can't find MSVCR80.dll.
    Reloaded Itunes but get the same message.  Help

    Welcome to the club. So far the only proposed remedy to complete the upgrade is to do an iTunes (and related software) rip and replace. See the details in numerous posts to this forum.
    If you want to hang in there for a while to see if Apple can figure out the problem and provide a functioning 11.1.4 upgrade you can try reverting to a Windows restore point created prior to the failed upgrade attempt. Don't know if that's an XP option though.
    Note to self: always create a Windows restore point before allowing any Apple software upgrade attempts!

  • C6380 lost wireless connection; now MacBook can't find it

    I have a C6380 that keeps losing wireless connection.  I have to delete and re-install this printer about quarterly.  Connecting through a router via aircard internet.
    Q:  Can I buy wires to hardwire this wireless printer to my laptop?  If so, what do I need?
    Q: Sometimes printer sees network, other times it doesn't, is there a way to make this more consistent?
    Q: Obviously when printer drops, Mac can't find it; I've uninstalled, reinstalled so many times and at this point am tired of trying to get printer to see the network and Mac to see the printer.  Is there something on my Mac end that could lock this down for future? [sorry, I know you all are HP but had to ask]

    Here is how to set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - Click the Manual IP button and enter:
    192.168.0.200 for the IP address
    255.255.255.0 for the subnet
    Leave the gateway and DNS blank
    - Click 'Apply'
    Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
    After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • TopLink workbench won't run (can't find "~1\bin\javaw.exe" error)

    Hello,
    I'm having a tough time getting the TopLink WorkBench to run on Windows XP. I'm trying to run TopLink WorkBench 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) Build 060118. I've also installed Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) which is working fine (other than the Toplink part). I've managed to get EJB's deployed and access them through RMI and WS.
    When I run "workbench.cmd" I get the error
    Windows cannot find `~1\bin\javaw.exe"
    If I manually remove the setenv.cmd call and cutout all the fixpath bits, Toplink Workbench comes up fine (as far as I can tell), but I cannot connect to my Oracle databases. When I try to connect, I get "The class oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver was not found".
    I've been told this is because my J2EE 1.5 environment is incompatible with standalone Toplink Workbench. Is this true? I have both J2EE 1.5 SDK installed as well as J2EE 1.4 SDK but not amount of rearranging the system CLASSPATH seems to make everything work. (I've restarted Workbench to make sure the new env vars take effect when I change them)
    Is there a step by step document on getting this to work?

    I was referred to this "step by step" link

    which helps (it walks through the required edits in setenv.cmd). I still have the "can't find ~\bin\javaw.exe" problem though.
    Perhaps this is a JRE 1.5 issue or a WinXP (64-bit) issue.

  • Apple TV can't find Computer

    Hi,
    I have 3 Apple TV's (3rd gen) on my network, all of a sudden 1 of them is failing to find my computer. There is no issue with my setup as the other 2 are finding my computer and if I play a movie on iTunes I can get it to stream to the Apple TV that can't find my computer.
    All my ATV's and iMac are running the latest software, I have tried restarting and resetting my apple TV. No difference. Resetting has worked in the past when one of my other ATV's dropped out but not with this one.
    Has anyone else had similar issues? Any suggestions would be great.

    It sounds like just one of the Apple TVs isn't seeing the content on your computer at all even after restarting and resetting the Apple TV. I would recommend using the other troubleshooting steps from the following article you haven't yet done, named:

  • Safari won't load/can't find url or url invalid

    I'm having issues with Safari either unable to load a page, saying url is invalid or ? in boxes where pics are supposed to be. It's the worst for pages on Apple.com and Facebook.  Below are the errors/warnings system log and I apologize but I'm not sure what any of this means other than it's an error.  Also, I've put in a case with Apple Support unfortunately, my cell coverage at home ***** & every time Apple Support tries to reach me my phone drops the call.  So any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.   I know it's a lot to read, sorry.

    Quit Safari.
    Check for Login Items:  Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Login Items tab. Delete any files or apps you have listed there.
    And go to /Library/Startup Items. Move any files in the Startup Items folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari to test.
    Quit Safari. Open a Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
    From the menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset. Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
    From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Deselect: Enable plug ins Quit then relaunch Safari. If Safari loads web pages, follow the troubleshooting help here. Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
    Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit, relaunch Safari.
    Try Safari in another user account. Same problem there, log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. Verify the startup disk. If it needs repairing, help here for Using Disk Utility to Verify and Repair Disks
    Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

    When I click on links on google to go to search results, the computer often freezes or is misdirected to sites like "video cop." I've never had problems with firefox before, it's always been the most reliable browser - but now I'm getting pop-under ads too. I ran spybot, adaware, AVG, and a bunch of other scans but none of them detected any problems.

  • Pismo won't boot, can't find the cause

    I have a Pismo 500 that won't boot and I've torn this thing apart more times than I'd care to count and replaced every part I can think of. When I first got it it was working fine, but occasionally wouldn't boot properly or wake from sleep. When it wouldn't boot, I would press the power button and there'd be no chime, the fans would not spin up, and there was no sign of life other than the Num Lock or Caps Lock keys lighting up if pressed. What was an occasional thing is now permanent; it does this all the time now.
    I have replaced the logic board, the PMU board, the AC/Sound board, and the PRAM battery. It continues to do exactly the same thing. It does this whether the PRAM battery is plugged in or not, so I have no way of knowing if the "New" replacement battery I got off eBay is actually any good or not.
    Any help on this matter would be immensely appreciated as I would really love to get this unit working after the time and money put into it. Thank you.

    Brash,
    I take from your post that you can get the Pismo running...it is not totally dead. When up and running, open the System Profiler and see if it reports the presence of your 1MB backside L2 cache; failed L2 cache can cause no-starts.
    Also, if you had a bootable 9.x CD, a cold start will present a dialogue box indicating a problem with RAM or cache memory if this is the case; this test does not run through a restart.
    You can test the health of your backup battery although it is unrelated to your startup problems as you have verified:

    The only component left to replace is the microprocessor card. These do go bad plus it also contains the backside L2 cache.
    If you have both memory slots filled, test each memory module separately.

    Hi all. Hoping someone can help. I can't get my iPhone 4.0 to air print to my HPD110a printer via my linksys wireless router. Printer recognizes router, iPhone recognizes router but when I try to print something it says "no printers found". I have been working on this all day. Have contacted HP, apple care, Best Buy, geek squad local and geek squad 1-800. All ZERO help. Can anyone help me solve this please?  I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

    Hello all... Again. Here are updates. Still no success- well limited success. I was able to update my printer wirelessly by surfing off a neighbor's signal (with their permission). It printed off their system just great. Here is my issue now. I was told by a mac guy at Best Buy that I could set my system up without an internet connection as long as I had a wireless router. Unless I am missing something, I do not think that is possible. The system worked flawlessly on a system with internet. It does not work in my own environment without internet and only using a wireless router. Does anyone have any other ideas for a work around?  Otherwise I am going to assume I was given some bad information. Should this be a genius bar service thing?  Or am I already at the genius bar?  :)  any help or insight is greatly appreciated.
