HP 6735s won't boot, power LED blinks 7 times

The HP 6735s laptop stopped working.  Only sign of life, power LED flashes 7 times after on/off switch is pressed.  What's wrong, experts?

Try a hard reset. Sometimes it works and is always the first step to take.
remove the battery and the ac adapter plug from the laptop.
press and hold the power button for fifteen seconds.
install either the battery or ac adapter power and press the power button to attempt a boot into the OS.
If that doesn't work then remove the hard disk to see if it gets past the splash screen and the BIOS whines that it can't find a bootable OS. That would indicate a hard disk failure.
Also worth tying is removing the memory module(s) from the DIMM slots and then reinstalling them. That reseats the modules and cleans some oxidation off the module pins (if there is any)
Another, perhaps a laptopsaver (in a manner of speaking) is the HP Pavilion dv2000/dv6000 and Compaq Presario  v3000/v6000 Series Notebook PCs - HP Limited Warranty... Check it and see if your laptop is covered.

  • Compaq CQ61 won't boot, 2 led blinks.

Product Name and NumberCompaq Presario CQ61-310SA Operating System installed (if applicable)None Error message (if any)LED flashes twice before pausing and repeating. Indicates BIOS corruption. Any changes made to your system before the issue occuredBeen inactive for 10 months due to having no power cable, I purchased a 3rd party power cable for it today. ProblemHello, as I stated above, my laptop has been inactive for 10 months and only today I decided to finally get a charger for it, which set me back £5.99, clearly a low quality charger but I was unsure if the laptop even worked anymore and didn't want to splash out on a manufacturer charger. When the AC adapter is plugged in, the LED indicator next to the charger port lights up, but with the battery installed the charge LED inbetween the Power and HDD LED's flashes 4 times, on the 4th flash it holds for about a second then discontinues the blinks. When powered up the backlight and LCD do not turn on and the CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK LED's flash twice before pausing and repeating and the WiFi light glows orange. I can hear the HDD and fan spinning but the BIOS isn't initiated. I understand this error code refers to BIOS corruption and have attempted a hard reset, holding the power for 15 seconds as stated on some websites, then 30 as stated on others, and finally 60 seconds, as well as replacing the BIOS battery, HDD and memory modules to no avail... It doesn't seem as if the battery is charging at all, but it is completely empty so I'll leave it for a while to see if it does charge. Is this anything to do with the fact I bought a cheap chinese charger? Or would I have to replace the motherboard? AC AdapterName: WeiXin Da Electronics AC Adapter - PA-1700-02Input: 100-240v ~ 1.8AOuput: 18.5V ~ 3.5A Many thanks, Jordan.

This is a phenomenon of these computers.
If you have a computer that won't boot, remove battery, unplug charger. Press powerbutton for at least 20 seconds, insert the power cable, and hold for another 20 seconds. Nothing will seem to happen. Then press power again.
Your LiION battery is close to end of life. Replace. Or get used to doing this. Diag software will warn for failed battery. You will also have a ton of BIOS messages about an obscure error occuring. But you need to have a working Diag partition to make some sense of the meaningless error reported in BIOS.
This has nothing to do with the RTC/NVRAM backup. But it's no reason to not replace it. It costs about 3$ and you can find a 2032 Lithium cell almost everywhere. (3V, 20mm diameter, 3,2mm thick). Located under the harddrive bay cover on the bottom of computer.
If no boot occurs, check that the "lid closed" switch is working. In some environments they can get stucked in "Lid closed" position.
Also if you have access to a can of compressed air (duster), clean the airflow / cooling part from accumulated dust.
These are not exactly the most energy saving computers. They get hot. I have seen examples of plastic chassie parts melting.

  • PC won't boot, power LED on but, can't power up

I've tried everything and at this point I think it's my power supply.
I came home yesterday and my PC was off (it was on when I left).  I noticed the power LED was on (steady, not blinking) but, none of the switches would work.  I tried unplugging the PS and letting it sit for awhile and then trying it again but, again it wouldn't boot and the power LED just stays a steady green.
I only have 18amps on my +12V rail could this be the problem?  See my signature for complete specs.  I'm running an Antec Silent Power 350w PS (it came with my Antec SLK2650 case).
    Any thoughts?
P.S. What does a solid power LED light indicate?  I couldn't find info on this anywhere.

I just ran out and bought a new power supply with 26A on the +12V line.  It was an Antec True 430 or something like that.  Nothing happens still.  The green light indicating power lights up and stays on but, nothing turns, no fans, no hard drives, nothing.  I'm thinking at this point it's the motherboad ... again!
Oh, just in case I checked to make sure the board was grounded correctly everywhere and it was, I'm guessing something got shorted on the either the ATX 12V line or the bigger power line that goes to the motherboard...
Oh well, no more MSI for me guys, they just don't want to cooperate with me.

  • U205 s5022 Power LED Blinking

U205 s5022 Power LED Blinks amber color as follows: Blinks 3x pauses Blinks 3x pauses blinks 2x pauses and repeats cycle. Power Adapter checks OK at 19 Volts DC and have installed new battery. Computer still won't start. What could be probable cause of consistent blinking light?

Initial reply led me (thank you) to recheck the power adapter I was using. It turned out it was for 19 volts DC and this lap top only takes 15 volts DC hence the blinking lights. After replacing the CMOS battery and tinkering with other stuff (which I later learned were unnecessary but educational)  like the motherboard, reseating CPU heat sink etc. - the unit is now working but will just stay idle because I have been a MAC person for many years now.

  • WRT54GL - Power Led blinking after unsuccessful flash-attempt

Hi there, I wanted to flash my wrt54gl with some other version of dd-wrt firmware. There was another dd-wrt image on it before the flash, but when I chose to "upgrade" the firmware, the router hung with power led blinking and the SES button active. So I aborted the flash with a powercable-unplug, and plugged it in again. Since then the router doesn't start up any more. I don't get an IP via DHCP, with static configured IP 192.168.1.2, pinging 192.168.1.1, I get a response, but I can't get to the web interface again. I tried the 30sec Reset-trick, didn't work out. I tried to upload the original Linksys firmware via the Linksys TFTP-tool, which didn't work out either. U got some other clues, what I can try to get my wrt54gl back alive again? greets gothic5k

Hey try resetting the router reset button in such a way that power
light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power
cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router &
then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are
solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out
    it will definately work!!

    Hello @NoGameNoLife,
I have read your post on how your notebook computer is not able to power on, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
Since there is a blinking orange light where the AC adapter plugs into your computer, I recommend following this document on Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps, as well as Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter. This should help to restore the power to your notebook.

  • Neo4 does not POST (Power cuts + 3 second Power LED Blinking)

    Hi,
This is my first build and I have already been plagued with 2 problems.  First, I finished the build and ran for one night and then the PSU went bad and needed to be replaced (replaced with same model).  Now, after running fine for about two weeks, the system shutdown over night and won't restart.  No activity should have been happening overnight.   When I try to start the system, the fans and everything start for about one second and then stop.  The power LED begins to blink every 3 seconds and no power is given to the system.  The D-bracket does not have any lights showing, they go out after the first second of running.  Here is what I have tried so far:
    1.  Tested power supply on second system and it worked fine.
    2.  Removed the motherboard from the case and set it on the static bag it came in.  Then with only the video (with it's power) and the two MB power cables connected, I tried to boot the system.  The same problem occured, power off after 1 second and LED blinks.
    3.  Bought a new PSU (Mad-Dog 500W which has +12V/30A) and still the same problem.
    4.  Removed each RAM module and tried with just one stick, still the same problem.
So I think I the only things left are MOBO and CPU...  I would think if it was the CPU, I would get a signal from the D-Bracket.  Any help?
    Thanks in advance!

I would try removing the Power Cord from the Power Supply and the Battery from the mobo. Leave them out a good 15 to 20 minutes before putting them back.
If that does not work, try a different brand of RAM for testing purposes.
    Deathstalker,
Thanks for the suggestions.  I tried removing the battery and power for 15 minutes and replacing, but no luck, same problem.  This system was working for two weeks with the PQI RAM modules. Can this compatability change all of a sudden while running and just power down the system?

.      Also  I tried and  clear CMOS just using  1 stick RAM the slot close to CPU. nothing got it.     Debug LED   FF .     no  signs  of CPU no debug Led   Must see CPU LEDs  On .   as for  me trouble  is  on CPU or motherboard. when you install CPU did you push hard down and closing lever?  I installed CPU like manual say completely embedded into socket and closing lever  I didn't pushed .   Have To push hard it?   what you think about?     I 'll Try tomorrow removing motherboard  and reinstall   Properly as  I  did  and everything back    again.

  • WRT54GP2 not working - Power LED blinking fast.

My WRT54gp2 has been working without issues for 2 years. All of a sudden from yesterday, the power LED is blinking fast. I am not able to connect to the web interface. My computer says limited or no connectivity. The internet and WAN LED are steadily lit. Has anyone faced this issue ? Is my router brick now ?

As the power light on the router is blinking..It means that the firmware of router is corrupted..Check this link to unbrick the router.

  • E2500 Power LED Blinking

I'm using an E2500 and the Power LED started blinking this week.
From the manual, this means   “Flashes slowly during bootup, during firmware upgrades, and druing a Wi-Fi-Protected Setup Connection.” We have a wireless printer (wireless disabled), and a Kindle that does use wireless. All other computers are hard wired.  I have not started a Wi-Fi protected setup. The router has been in use since the third week in October, and is more or less OK even though the Power LED is flashing.
Why is is flashing?  How do I get the Power LED to stop flashing?
    Thank you.

Yes, internet connection via the router seems to be OK (both hardwired and wireless).   There may be some degradation, but I'm using a satellite provider so it may not be the router.   However, intermittant connections have occurred within the past few days and that's the same time frame at which I noticed the light blinking.  There may or may not be a correlation.
We power down all our equipment when we go to sleep (modem, router, computers etc) and power them up each morning.
The firmware version  on the web site is the same as in my unit.
I do notice that when I log into the router page the light stops blinking.   When I exit the page it starts blinking shortly thereafter.

  • WRVS4400N Diag/Power LEDs blinking

    Hey,
Recently tried to update firmware on our WRVS4400N (v1) router (from WRVS4400N_V1.0_V1.1_Firmware.zip), and ended up with router alternatively blinking the red Diag and the Power LEDs...
Googled the whole thing...and tried resetting the router (power off / on....reset button help for 60 secs +, etc)...pretty much everything most people were suggesting (including this page on the Cisco FAQ for the WRVS4400N: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9923/products_qanda_item09186a0080a358b9.shtml - including trying with the LAN adapter speed set manually to 10Mpbs/Half-Duplex, w/Static IP address), and absolutely nothing.
    So, a couple of questions:
    1) Any other suggestions of what I could do...
and assuming that answer to 1 is No - what are my options?  Router was bought nearly 3 years ago from a Reseller (NCIX, in Canada)...
Trying to find the information on the warranty - getting different answer - although I did see 3 yrs somewhere...can I just call in and RMA it?
    Thx

    Good afternoon,
The Small Business Routers typically come with three years of hardware support, including the ability to RMA if thorough troubleshooting proves the device to be faulty. However, if the tools we use determine that, based on your serial number, the product is no longer within that period, you may have to furnish a Proof of Purchase to verify entitlement.
I would highly suggest going ahead and contacting us at 1-866-606-1866 (US and Canada) with the serial number and a Cisco.com user ID so we can create you a case and troublshoot your router if it falls within the warranty period.
    Thank you,
    -Lindsey

  • Why is that power LED blinking?

the power LED on the MSI k7n2g blinks a lot on my computer.  It's supposed to be a message LED, but what is the message it's sending!?!?!?  Is it morse code?  IT would have been a REALLY good idea it put a key to the code inthe manual!
    Anybody know?
(BTW, I have had several issues regarding the onboard video, but after an update to the drivers and bios, it does seem to operate more stably now, AS LONG As I don't use anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering or texture sharpening...or set the memory bus to 200Mhz with my ddr400 memory....)

maybe ur power led and hd led got switched around by accident, check the wire, if you think its right but it still does it, try switching the power led wire with the hd led wire.

  • Hp 630 power led blinking 3 times

    Hello Brothers,
My HP 630 notebook is not powering on by battery neither by power adapter connected. If I press power button when its connected the L.E.D besides the power plug blinks 3 times. This happens till the battery is charged; if the battery is not charged these L.E.Ds don't even light up.
I expect the laptop to power on(when connected to wall outlet) even if the battery is out. Can someone kindly suggest what could be wrong here?
    Thanks a bunch in advance

  • System won't boot with incorrect date/time

Hey, I setup a computer back home for VNC, however there was a power outage and now the BIOS has reset. Unfortunately it defaults the date to 2099 for some reason, anyway now the computer won't boot (I can't remember the exact error). Anyway the trouble is I can't access that computer now, and it has no monitor hooked up, is there anyway I can force a boot with just keyboard and without setting the correct date in the BIOS (no one with access to the computer could do this).
    Appreciate any help.

You can try to just press F1.
I have a similar issue with my home server, the battery on the motherboard is dead so when the pc is powered off for a while it will not remember the clock. When trying to boot the system in such a case it spits out an error where it offers to "ignore" the error if you press F1.
In my case I need to wait until my pc beeps before pressing F1, basically you need to get past the BIOS stage.
With a bit of luck it might work for you too.
Also I hope you have some ntp service running on your system to make sure the date gets set correctly on your system on bootup.
