HP 7070ee - epic fail!

bought this machine last year from uae. had to be repaired in october cuz the video card conked out and the mother board needed replacing. again in nov cuz the battery couldn't charge - motherboard error again. and 5 months later the video card's gone. AGAIN! i am not a gamer, i dont excessively use my machine. I invested a great deal of money in this machine. Being a photojournalist, my life revolves around my camera and laptop and this one has troubled me like none other. NOT expected from a marketing leading company like HP! There's no direct email to hp that i can write to hence posting here. Attaching a link to my previos post for proof.

Maybe this could be brought to an HP Case Manager? They have the authority to make decisions on whether to replace a computer or not. It does happen.

My iTunes account was disabled: epic fail Apple!

So, here's my story. Last night, I was suddenly aware that I couldn't update apps on my iPhone (4S, up to date), or load new ones. Tried everything, nothing helped. iPad seemed fine. Restored, restarted, resetting as new phone, nothing worked. I went to my local genius bar and spend THREE HOURS with them, where they tried everything as well, resotring, resetting, even swapping the phone, nothing helped. They suggested I contact apple for more help, I completely stumped the entire genius team at this store. Calling apple store support on my way home in a huff, the nice woman on the other line suggested that my account might be disabled. So, upon returning home, I looked up "disabled itunes account" and noticed that to fix this, all one needed to do is change your itunes password. When I did that, everything was fine again. Apps loaded fine, existing apps updated fine as well.
I consider this an epic fail on Apple's part. Mind you, I love the iPhone, have had every model, and would never get another phone. Nevertheless, why was my account disabled? Why is there no phone number to call itunes support? I have to email and wait for them to call back? Why wasn't I sent a message saying that my account was disabled becuase of a potential security breach? My account is in good standing, I barely purchase anything to be honest. The odd small app or two, but that's it. All was valid and in good standing. Why would the geniuses not think to say "maybe it's your itunes account, let's change the password and see what happened." I consider this a collasal failure, making me waste an entire evening, only for it to be a quick fix.
Has anyone else experienced this?

why was my account disabled?
Usually it is because of multiple incorrect password entry attempts. Since resetting the password fixed the problem, this would seem to be likely. I can't say with certainty, though.

No idea. E-mails are I believe usual in at least some such cases, but whether one would be generated in this specific instance (and perhaps was blocked by a spam filter) I can't say.

Again, no firm idea, but the Geniuses aren't expected to provide support for the iTunes Store, so it probably hasn't arisen in exactly that way before and hence just didn't occur to them in absence of any evidence or notification that the account was disabled.

Without Warning, OSX 10.6.8 emailer has epic fail

Even my MacGuru of some 17years could not figure what the *wild weasel* malfunction was coming from. He's the one who steered me to use the designated iCloud account page. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, my 10.6.8 emailer *epically failed* to receive email as shown in the InBox. Contacted my MacGuru , whom is also my webmaster who has set up my emailer in past who advised to do a Connection Doctor check. Did one 3X and all a connections green lighted and sent current screenshots as proof of my findings to him along with a screenshot of the InBox of my OSX emailer showing *zero* outside emails since 6:30 AM, July 31,2014. That InBox remains dysfinctional. The strange thing is it does register email I send myself to myself as well as some., nowhere near all , ( as shown by my iCloud account webpage InBox , emails of my webmaster. It was as if fully half of our morning's email dialogue never happened according to my OSX 10.6.8 email InBox. He even informed me everything looks fine from his remote monitoring to which I had to reply, obviously the remote map is clearly *not* the actual territory. I suggested a possible *corrupted* emailer which he responded that it can't happen because all signs show everything is go. So what do I do with that diagnosis when my OSX 10.6.8 *still* is NOT functioning as it normally should forcing me to depend upon the iCloud.com account page for any reliable receiving of email. I can *send* form my on iMac emailer, but reception is totally epic fail. Hence the iCloud.com account webpage is the only reliable alternative.
Any ideas out there? Should I just back-up archive all of my created MailBoxes and trash this piece of dysfunctional emailer garbage and either do a clean install of just the emailer or would an epic fail like this require a clean install of all of OSX 10.6.8? I amForced to staywith OSX 10.6.8 because this is Wacom's he cut-off support version for my the drivers for my Wacom 12X 18 Wacom Intuos as I can not uyet afford the $700 upgrade to an IntuosIII . Measnwhile this iCloud account page is *most* inefficient , but I am left *no* other choice that I've been made aware of . That's why, out of desperation to understand what the OSX emailer app dysfunction is , I came to this open forum.

Maybe a cache got corrupted. Reboot in safe mode then reboot again.
Possibly run OnyX to do even more aggressive cleanups.

Nokia Social connection bug / problem (Epic Fail)

Hi there,
When you open an application which requires internet connection, the phone checks the saved access points according to their priorities to see if there is an available access point among them and when the phone finds an available access point, it tries to establish a connection. (Normally, WLAN connections come first prior to gsm operator connection (3G or EDGE) in order to save the cost.) This is OK so far.
Now here is the abnormal behavior; when you open the Social application, the phone does not check the saved access points whether they are available or not, it tries to establish the connection right away!! So, if you are somewhere out on the street and have for example 10 or more WLANs saved in your access list (I have 8 in my case), Social app tries to connect each and every one of them without checking whether they are available or not and gives connection fail message after it tries every WLAN access point then finally it reaches the end of the access point list and finally establishes the operator connection. This takes a lot of time and causes useless battery consumption. Most of the time it doesn't connect at all. I have to open any webpage to establish the connection first then I open Social app. Yet, to work around this problem, there is no setting to tell Social app to use a specific access point.
Is there any solution to this "another epic fail"? I'd appreciate if someone help me out on this.

Is my iMac dying? Epic fail all day yesterday

Yesterday failed in every way, it froze completely and after restart (all) apps wouldn't even open.. icon just kept bouncing.. nothing worked properly.
After all sorts of weird stuff going on and about 5 restarts [with some complete freezing during some], then starting up holding D and chosing the HD I was able to run Disk Utility and Verify came out ok but apparently many Permissions were bad.
Since I had worked a lot the day before (typing stuff in for ex.), I figured I should take advantage of the system apparently working normally again to make a smart backup with SuperDuper! (didn't want to lose the work done). Bad idea, it took 10 times longer than usual and copied a huge amount of GB - which makes no sense because I hadn't changed nearly that much stuff since last backup-... so no idea what that was about... could I have screwed the backup??? My main concern is losing the 800+GB of important data etc... if the iMac dies that's fine.
iMac is almost 4 years old... new internal HD a few months ago...
I disconnected the internet fearing a 'hacker' attack... (?) Possible?
Today it seems to be working normal again... Anyway... what could be going on?? Sorry for the long story

An epic fail seems more likely to be a story.

Never Again Nokia ! - EPIC FAIL ¡

The title says it all reason :
I've purchased an n97 for nearly 30000 inr two years back - i know very well that its completely outdated and due to hardware restrictions - it wont ever be updated to anna or belle ¡ . But how come nokia expect me to suffer for their fallacy of putting a mere 128mb ram and 434 mhz processor on their flagship ? I envy these first gen s^3 devices - they've got 2 major updates !- anna /belle and now belle refresh is coming ! Not to count numerous minor updates too ! Why then were we left with pathetic firmware on our devices ! -we never wanted belle or anna atleast make the current one more usable !
I've lost hope in you nokia ! Atleast if you have read numerous requests in here for doing something for s60v5 devices in here - you would not have done this to us !
I pity myself for having bought your flagship and will never again do the mistake of buying a nokia ! Who knows even lumias may suffer the same fate when wp8 arrives !

Major Logic 9.1.7 & 10.7.3 .. EPIC FAIL - READ ON

I bought a new mac last week..
and tried to move my logic over.. well.. this hasnt been so smooth ..
Im wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to make this work..
Installed Logic - from Install Disks
Received "error message"updated Logic from 9.0 .. to now 9.1.7
Received another error "Logic Pro requires that your system have ProKit 5 installed; this system has ProKit 0 installed."went online and updated to ProKit 5 ..
The updated Lion to 10.7.3.. as sugguested
Open up logic.. works fine..
go to import audio file (Add Audio File) no responce
go to add anything from the media bin and no responce --- things click, but dont open, files dont land in the arrange page
The pointer is no longer an arrow but a (side ways arrow on both side)
Loops wont allow themselves to be dropped on the arrange
Quit on Logic is "Greyed Out"
Open Movie doesnt respond..
Im totally lost on what to do

Draft created on iPhone, modified and sent from iPad - Epic Fail

My wife worked for days on a reply to an email she received. She did this on her iPhone and was saving it as a Draft. We both have mobile me accounts and both of these accounts are set up on our iPad. I opened the draft from her Draft folder in the iPad, read it over, made a couple of changes and hit Send. A message was displayed about not being able to send it, something wasn't set up properly. It never got put back in the Draft folder, or the Sent Folder. It didn't sync with her Outbox on her Mac either.
She can create an email on the iPad and send it just fine. So can I. My account is the primary account in the iPad.
We just can't edit/send a Draft on the iPad that was created on either Apple Mail, or iPhone Mail.
Anyone else ever experience this?

Just discovered this issue as well and "epic fail" is the exact way to put it. Can't believe this is an issue. Doesn't matter if in me.com, gmail, or other accounts...there is no way to edit and save IMAP draft message on iphone or ipad. Major disappointment.

Hp Mini 110-1127NR EPIC FAIL HP

I bought my HP mini when my old computer finally died. I'm a student, and use my comptuer for both work and school.
So, when my motherboard died for the first time <3months after purchase, suffice to say I was mad. After dealing with a tech support that was at best pathetic, I was annoyed. When I recieved my computer back from HP two weeks later, you can imagine how screaming mad I was to discover that they had subbed out my 250g HDD for a 150g HDD.
Think thats it?
After calling back tech support and having them inform me that my computer doesn't come with a 250g HDD (as I was looking at the NewEgg page I'd purchased it from, which plainly states 250g) they finally agreed that I was right, that it did come with a 250. Two weeks later, my PC was finally back to normal.
Over. I think not.
Two months after replacement of mobo, my RAM unit went bad. Replaced that on my own (Didn't want to deal with HP)
Now, four months after replacement of mobo, seven months after purchase, my computer randomly shuts down, restarts has killed TWO batteries purchased from NewEgg in addition to the one originally purchased with the netbook. It currently is unable to use a battery, as any new one plugged into the unit quickly loses its abliity to recharge.
I've called HP to try to give me a replacement unit, as I love the Pink Chic coloring, but am met with only resistance. As someone in the computer field, I felt obligated to publicly voice my absolute displeasure with HP, thier tech support, thier products and thier customer service. I, personally will never purchase or reccomend another HP or Compaq product. I hope that the company suffers greatly from it's lack of quality in both its products and support.

And the very night after I posted this thread, it died again.

Photos in catalouge and cards, "Suspected Duplicates" - EPIC FAIL

Scenario: I'm out in the field filling memory cards and reviewing them on my secondary PC (laptop), marking & editing various images at night. I do not manage to import all of the photos off of all of my cards (and can't due to disk space requirements). I want to keep the edits and work (and images, due to running out of cards I formated some of them that I _knew_ were in the LR catalouge AND backed up onto other devices).
I get home to my primary PC and export the laptop catalouge and then import it, WIN. I start importing images from cards that ARE NOT IN THE CATALOUGE, also WIN. I put in a card that has AT LEAST _SOME_ (but not necessarily all) images in the exported catalouge. Lightroom FAILS to notice that images that were imported FROM THE SAME CARD into the Laptop & Desktop with THE SAME CATALOUGE are duplicates!
What I want to do is to BE SURE that all of my images are in my primary/desktop catalouge WITHOUT dupes. I want to insert the memory card and have LR import ONLY THE ONES IT DOES NOT ALREADY have. This seems like somehting LR should automagically support, but apparently not. How do I accomplish what I want to do without doing something rediculous like importing everything regardless, then buying a de-duping tool, deleting the duplicate images using file system tools, then removing the not found images manually from LR?

Yes, I give custom names on import For example, right now I'm working on importing photos from a card that has early images (i.e. the compact flash file
H:\NIKON D800\DCIM\101ND800\_PL81846.NEF
). I did not alter the memory card in any way (unless importing the images to LR on the laptop somehow altered them).
After importing the exported catalouge, my PC has
D:\Users\liels\My Pictures\Source Pictures\2013\01\06\20130106-Bosque-del-Apache-_PL81846.nef
But
H:\NIKON D800\DCIM\101ND800\_PL81846.NEF
still shows up as non-dupe. This is different than if I import
H:\NIKON D800\DCIM\101ND800\_PL81846.NEF
with the Desktop creating
D:\Users\liels\My Pictures\Source Pictures\2013\01\06\20130106-Bosque-del-Apache-_PL81846.nef
and then insert the memory card. In that case the "suspected duplicates" correctly identifies that
H:\NIKON D800\DCIM\101ND800\_PL81846.NEF
is a duplicate of
D:\Users\liels\My Pictures\Source Pictures\2013\01\06\20130106-Bosque-del-Apache-_PL81846.nef
But that DOES NOT happen when
D:\Users\liels\My Pictures\Source Pictures\2013\01\06\20130106-Bosque-del-Apache-_PL81846.nef
is created as a result of importing an exported catalouge, even though the source for the image is the very same card, e.g.
H:\NIKON D800\DCIM\101ND800\_PL81846.NEF.
I can, in fact import the image with the EXACT SAME renaming scheme & keywords and LR will SILENTLY(!) create
D:\Users\liels\My Pictures\Source Pictures\2013\01\06\20130106-Bosque-del-Apache-_PL81846-2.nef
not bothering to ask me if that is what I want or not (my naming scheme DOES NOT ask for ZZZ-FILENAME-X, but it creates it silently anyway)

It is unbelievable to me that Apple would stand behind this new security feature and not put in some sort of fail safe! Some people save for months just to get these high end phones, just to have them bricked if they forget their password... do i have to buy a new car if i lose my keys? Do i have to replace the contents of my bank account if i lose my debit card or check book? No, and i shouldnt have to, to me its the equivelent of apple stealing from me. I guess they decided that the criminals were making too much money off stealing and re-selling these devices so they decided to do pretty much the same thing! I can hear the maniacal laughter behind the glass and the swishing of hands together as the CEO sits and waits for all the unfortunates who brick their phone because of forgetfulness.

If you have the Purchase Invoice they'll do it for you.
And you should not buy a used device without Purchase Invoice as it might be a stolen device. PERIOD.

VZW Customer Service has become an EPIC FAIL

Here I am again spending another freaking night on the phone because a rep can't add the right feature code to my account. I had gotten sick of paying ridiculous amounts in international calling charges so I decided to add the discounted international calling feature to my account. The rep added I-dial so I can call international (I've already been calling international for over 2 freaking years now). Now I have to waste more time talking to a rep who isn't helpful and hold for a supervisor. Can't even eat dinner at 10:45 at night thanks to Verizon not adding the correct feature and failing to document the account. God, it never ends, just when you think your phone is starting to work after all the garbage problems, there's an issue with the plan.

After over an hour on the phone (most of that time on hold) I spoke with a supervisor who had no idea who I was. She actually listened, put the correct feature on the account and adjusted the overages. At least I can go to sleep now.

MacBook Pro Epic Fail

Hi y'all,
So just a few days ago, I had closed the lid (but not turned off) my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard that I purchased October 2010. About a week before this, my computer had been running fairly slow, but performance returned basically to normal after I closed a LOT of browser tab (simultaneous massive research projects were the culprit).
Anyway, I closed the lid, put it in a backpack, walked around with it for a day (but never used it, dropped it, etc.). That night, I got home, tried to lock on from the lock screen and upon hitting 'Return' to get to my desktop, the computer froze for a good while. Because it was totally unresponsive, I did a hard reboot (press and hold the power button). Upon trying to restart, all I got was a gray screen on which was located a flashing folder with a question mark on it. Checking the Apple Support page, I did most of what they recommended. It's listed below:
- Try pulling up the Disk Utility via the Option key at startup. FAILED. All I got was my mouse, which could move around, but no disk utility.
- Try resetting PRAM/NVRAM. SUCCEEDED. Computer restarted a second time while using Command-Option-P-R and made the startup noise as was supposed to occur so I'm fairly sure this worked.
- Try booting in Safe Mode via pressing Shift at startup. FAILED. All (I think) I got was the Apple logo with the little gray spinning thing (not the beachball, but rather the thing that's a bunch of lines radiating outward)
- Try booting in Safe Mode with progress update via Command-Shift-V. FAILED. Same result as booting in normal Safe Mode.
- Try booting from the Mac OS X Install DVD that came with the computer. FAILED. Didn't work until I then used Disk Utility via the Option key to select the DVD as my boot source. At this point, it started to boot, got to the screen where it asked me what language I wanted to use for the system, and had already selected English. Meanwhile, at the bottom right of the language window was a 'Next' arrow, but this was blue as if someone was clicking and holding a mouse over it. I couldn't use the keyboard or the mouse (besides moving it around the screen) so I did yet another hard shut down and tried to repeat the process. This time, after selecting the DVD via the disk utility, all I got was the Apple Logo with grey spinny thing.
- Brought it in to my college's ITS facilities where, after backing up the data on my hard drive successfully and erasing it, they tried to use my Install DVD to reinstall the OS. FAILED. Then, they tried booting from an external Mac FixIt drive, which booted fine, but the keyboard was unresponsive, and the mouse could move but not click on anything. They're currently still in possession of it and working to see what else can be done, but I figured I'd check here to see if this had happened to anyone else, or if anyone (someone from Apple?) could speak up and tell me what's the matter and what I need to do to mitigate this rather inconvenient (it's finals week) problem.
Computer Specs:
Mid 2010 MacBook Pro with 128GB solid state internal hard drive running Mac OS X 10.6.x with 2x2GB of RAM (factory installed; I haven't made any changes to the components that I selected on the Apple Store website when configuring my computer) and 2.4 GHz Intel processor.
PLEASE HELP DIAGNOSE THIS ISSUE?!

I should note that when I used the Install DVD, and I did make sure I usd the C key during startup to tell it where to boot from. Also, with further thought, I'm pretty sure it's not Disk Utility that comes up when you use the Option key, but I'm blanking on what that is right now. Sorry for any confusion. Anyway, about using the Option key: I should also note that when I did use it, it recognized the CD, but my own hard drive wasn't recognized, i.e. not a possibility to select.

After updating my iPad 3 from iOS 7.0.6 to 7.1 I can't do anything. It constantly reboots while trying to restore backup. Epic Fail!

My attempts to update my ipad 3 to IOS 7.1 via iTunes on my Mac Pro has essentially bricked it. I carefully made a backup before doing the update but its of little use. The iPad installs the firmware update and reboots and asks about the backup to restore and begins the sync. But, it reboots about 20 times while trying to restore the beast.
It is a 64 gb ipad and was pretty full so retrying to restore from backup is taking 6 hours each time. Maddening!
I've spent months setting it up. The thought of restoring as NEW is so depressing.
The initial attempt I did over night was just unusable this morning. I couldn't get past the Apple Logo. I finally gave up and put it into recovery mode and redid it a second time. It must have rebooted 20 times while copying all the apps and media back. It made it but was then useless again after being disconnected from the Mac.
I then tried once again and aborted it after it was rebooting again constantly during the restore from backup.
It seems to be OK thru the firmware install but it can't seem to use my backup. I'm going to try and restore as NEW just to see if it will work at all. At that point maybe I'll try and manually restore the backup so I don't lose all that organization.
Anyone got any better ideas? I'm refusing to thing about "upgrading" my iphone 5 until I see how this comes out....

I finally decided to turn this annoyance into an opportunity. After a lot of experimenting I found that my iPad was just fine under 7.1 if I simply restored it as new. I have a lot of time on my hands and I had 1424 apps on my iPad! This is why every attempt to restore took so long.
I decided to restore as new, spend a day restoring the apps I really used. Doing so gave me a quick iPad with only bout a quarter of the storage used.
Granted it was a pain in the arse, but I wrote it off as in the old days when you had to do this with windows 95 just to keep a stable system.
I DO have some data in a few files of the now unused backup but a quick google search finds a couple Mac programs out there that will allow you go extract audio recordings, app data files etc. from the backup. I'll do that someday if I even miss the files I've probably forgotten that are there.
Anyway, there was nothing wrong with my hardware. I think there were just some troublesome setup items that 7.1 didn't like. Once set up as new, the ipad was fine.

How do I get my video playlists back on iPod Touch 4G after (epic fail) iOS6 update

As other users have identified, playlists present on iTunes on laptop but not on iPod touch 4G after iOS6 update except when select edit. Can I get them back? Not wasting time messing around. Either this is easily sortable or I get a new player from another maunfacturer - seems Apple can't be bothered to sort these issues so not sure I can be bothered with Apple anymore.
