HP 7410 Wireless

Changed router to Apple Time Machine. Can't connect wireless printing. OK via USB. Using MacBookPros with OSX 10.6. Wireless wizard on printer won't let me enter WPA2 password, keeps asking for WEP and rejects the WPA.  Do I need to install the HP software on the new Mac's?  All I have is a Windows install disc.

This printer will not support WPA2.  Switch your Time Capsule to WPA/WPA2.
Now, before you run the wizard on the printer: Setup > Network > Reset Network Defaults.
Do not install software on your Mac from a CD.  If you want the HP software for added functionality, get the latest from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

  • Officejet 7410 wireless connection to Billion (BiPAC 7800DXL) router

    Hi,
I recently changed my router to a Billion BiPAC 7800DXL. Since then I can't get my printer to connect to my network. The printer wants a 13 digit ASCII code which I can't seem to find on the various confiruration screens of the router.
I sent an enquiry to Billion, they replied but there suggestion just froze my router and I had to re-set it to factory settings.
My operating system is Windows 7.
Any thought/guidance would be most appreciated, I'm happy with my printer so don't really want to get a new one.
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

  • Wireless installation of Officejet 7410 on a MacOS X under Snow Leopard (10.6.8) fails.

I have an Officejet 7410 wireless printer. It is connected to my wireless home network, as is my new MacBook Pro running MacOS X 10.6.8. The printer works fine (printing and scanning) from Windows 7 equipped PC's. The built in webserver of the printer is perfectly accessible from the MacBook using various webbrowsers. The printer can be used when it is hardwired via the USB port to MacBook. But there is no connection whatsoever when I try to print or configure the printer using software downloaded from HP.

    Let's reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • "Invalid WEP Key" Error on 7410 All-in-On Wireless Set Up

My 7410 has been connected wirelessly for over a year but I just installed a new router (Linksys N600) and can't get the wireless connection back up.  All other wireless devices are connecting to the new router.  Using WPA2-PSK[AES] security on router.  Using installation wizard on front panel of printer and it is locating network SSID fine.  But only allowing for WEP key and giving me error code every time it is entered.  Have tried to change length of key on router to 5 or 13 characters and also tried 10 HEX digits.  Have powered off/on the printer and restored to factory network settings.  No luck with anything.  The Cisco router I previously had installed was also an N router - no problems connecting the 7410 wirelessly but swapped it out because of too many lost connections.  Any advice?
    This question was solved.

If your WEP key is all alphabet then it is not WEP, it is WPA or WPA2.  As discussed above, this printer will not accept WPA2.
Get into your router settings and change your wireless security type to WPA or WPA/WPA2 (you can keep the same passphrase).

  • How to enable sprint on hp 7410 a wireless printer

I have a HTC hd7 smartphone and I want to know how to enable sprint using my hp 7410 wireless all in one printer.

HP ePrint lets you print from virtually anywhere Once enabled, ePrint assigns an email address to your printer. To print, simply send an email containing your document to your printers' address. You can print images, Word and PowerPoint documents, PDFs, and photos. You can view and manage print jobs sent to your printer using your printer Job History that is available on ePrintCenter. Note: HP ePrint provides convenience printing. Documents printed with ePrint may appear different from the original. Style, formatting, and text flow may differ slightly from the original document. For documents that need to be printed with a higher quality (such as legal documents), we recommend that you print from the software application on your computer, where you will have more control over how your printouts appear.

  • 7410 wont accept WPA2 password

Officejet 7410 wireless configuration is asking for WEP key.  My router uses WPA2 security.  How do I get the printer to accept the passkey?

    Hi,
The Officejet 7410 is more limeted as an older printer.
If support WEP or WPA1 security authentication, WPA2 is not supported by the printer.
You may find that information listed on page 16 of its networking guide below:

  • Can't Connect OfficeJet 7410 to new wireless network - used to work on old one

Hi, I'm on a Mac OS.  I just upgraded my wireless network to use an airport extreme.  I have a verizon fios router - same as I had when it used to connect.  The only change was adding the airport extreme.  Now, the officejet 7410 all-in-one will not connect to the wireless connect.  It SEES the name of the network, and asks me for a WEP Key, which it didn't used to do.  It used to ask me for the network password.  I found the WEP key on the router and it acts like it is trying to connect but takes a long time and then gives me an error.  One time it never gave me an error and seemed like it had worked, but was not connected.  It just gave up.
My configuration page indicates offline with no active connection and wireless status disconnected.
I restarted everything with no change.  I don't know why it would be asking me for a WEP key this time and then not accept it but that was the first indication that something was different when it didn't ask me for the network password.
Also, as a separate issue but related.  In trying to fix this, I deleted my drivers to reinstall and see if I started over that it would work.  That created another problem in that now it seems that HP no longer supports a driver for this printer.  Is that even possible?  It's not that old.  It says it does not exist on the software update.  Please help!

    Hi YSJA,
I'm sorry to hear you've had problems accessing your Officejet 7410 since adding the AirPort Extreme to your home network.
I have included a link to HP's Wireless Printing Center troubleshooting section. It has section, "Was anything changed or updated on your router recently?" that has detailed steps to help you resolve the issue.

  • 7410 All-in-1 "Can't Connect To Ntwk" when install post-moving from home ofc to work ofc wireless

Hi.  I've had this 7410 printer a few years now (hand me down from family member). It has worked fine in my home (wireless router) the whole time.
Recently, I moved it to the work office (across town) and have spent TWO nights (4 hrs each night) AFTER WORK to try and get it to correctly set-up.  It has never been this difficult with all the moves I've had from apartment to apartment and now to my home.  This shouldn't be any different, right?!
    This is where I'm stuck:
Setup Menu >> Network >> Wireless Setup Wizard ....yes, it finds the office network...  I select it.... then, I enter the WEP key.... correctly have done it 30 times (spelled it correctly, caps sensitive, etc)... hit Done, and the answer after its search is "can not connect to network".
I've read on HP's website and my manual (over and over and over) how to self-correct it... that is why I'm here now!
    Things I've done:
Setup Menu >> Network>> View Network Settings >>> Print Network Configuration Page.... it comes up with the IP, subnet and default gateway as 0.0.0.0
Setup Menu >> Network>> Restore Network Defaults.... no change in outcome
Unplugged and replugged printer.... no change in outcome
Unplugged and replugged modem and router (with the 30+ sec recommended wait before replug).... no change in outcome
I have checked the network strength via my personal laptop, my work laptop, my mobile devices... all say it is present and excellent.... yet not able to connect printer to it
I have checked the network via my work laptop, to see what is accessing it (can you overload a network?)... but it only has 6 items connected at this time (evening when no one here but me...2 printers already and 4 computers), which is even less than daytime access when we have all co-workers plugged into it also (healthcare facility... but still, always just 2 printers... THIS printer would be the 3rd)
Now, I ask you what is my next step?
PLEASE help soon, I need this printer to be up and working to help alleviate some office flow issues!!
I cannot keep spending my evenings reading all these bulletin posts, self-help FAQ's on the HP site without any good outcome for my scenario!!! I have other paperwork to be doing and this is keeping me from getting it done!
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello edPT2001.
Please, download and run the HP Print and Scan doctor from http://www.hp.com/go/tools
With this tool, you can see what channel is being used by the wireless router you're trying to connect your printer.
Run the tool and after the initial search for HP products, you might be able to go to Help menu - Show advanced info and then click the button Show wireless info. You will see a list of wireless networks detected by your computer and if you scroll to the right, you might be able to see the channel being used by the network. Find the network you're trying to connect your printer and let me know the channel number.
    Cheers!!

  • Can't print wirelessly with HP 7410 printer using Airport Extreme

I've got 3 Macs (2 laptops, one desktop) that I was using successfully with my wireless HP 7410 all in one printer using my old Airport Base (snow) Station (822 b & g). Just upgraded for a variety of reasons to the new Airport Extreme Base station and I have NOT been able to get the printer to print wirelessly.
I have tried all available normal methods, including, but not limited to:
    1) resetting and restarting the printer and computer
    2) installing new printer software, including driver
    3) deleting and reinstalling printers using the "print and fax" system preference
    4) using the printer on a non-secure network
    5) setting up the printer to connect via IPP and LPP
The end result of all of this is that the printer is attached to the network, but the computer (any of the 3) cannot connect to the printer. When I run the HP setup assistant, it cannot "find" the printer.
Everything was working perfectly before I "upgraded." Why am I not able to print with the new base station?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same proble trying to print. I have a Mac and 2 PC laptops. I tried to print to three different printers and it will not work. I called Apple support and I was told that it was set up and configured correctly, that it ust be my firewall blocking the printer. I'm at a loss after $179.00 and three hours of trying to get it to work.

  • 7410 can't scan wirelessly

Installed the full version, over the network on my 7410 - printing works fine on Win XP.  It doesn't appear that the scanner driver is installed - as the HP digital imaging monitor shows the device as disconnected.
    What I've done.
1.installed with official HP release on their web site
2.uninstalled/reinstalled many times - the wireless printing always works
2a. uninstalled each component using the windows control panel add/remove programs
2b. uninstalled using the HP level 3 .bat file contained on the distrubtion located in utils/ccc
    3. on installation, the install seems to bog down at the 96% mark for quite a while - but will always finish
    4. I get a bunch of install failed messages in my setupapi.log  - see below

    Obsevations
1.when trying to install, I've always had to kill the wrapper.exe process to coax it to proceed (is this normal?)
Bottom line - can anyone help me out?
    p.s. Other things I've tried
    1. swung dead chicken bones and chanted heavily and vociferously - and with gusto.
    2. said many prayers - i tried all of the known deities to no avail.
    3. employed the hp motto "think" - also to no avail.
    3. loaded my 12 guage and pointed it at the printer - I guess idle threats didn't work, but it was worth a shot (no pun intended)

Ok, I think I've solved this difficult issue.  There was a couple of missing parent keys.  Try adding this to your registry.  I had noticed the missing keys by comparing to a 'healthy' machine.  I think the uninstall level 4 may be the culprit.  The keys have to do with where imaging devices are parked.  Once added, not only did my scanner work wirelessly, but the install went all the way through without stalling at 96% and also fixed another issue with my "Add a scanner" not working.  Please ignore my Canon A60 and Intel microscope in the entries.  Just copy the keys and import.  Copy carefully from the below - there are 2 keys - look for --KEY--- and ---KEY2---

  • Can't connect wirelessly from my HP G72 Laptop to my HP 7410 Officejet All-in-one Printer

I have a HP G72 Notebook PC and a HP Officejet 7410, with wireless capability. I also have an Imac that I downloaded the
driver Officejet 7410 to and it connected directly to it not through the hub. Why doesn't an HP laptop connect directly to an
    HP officejet printer? Thanks

Do you have a wireless router?  Is the printer connected to your router?  What router is it?

  • Connecting 7410 to wireless network

Hi there.  I am trying to connect my 7410 all in one to the verizon wireless router and I am getting a cannot connect message.  I am using the correct ssid and password.  I was asking for a WEP but I figured out how to add the WPA instead.  Is there a wireless button I am missing?

    Welcome to the forums marcee
I saw your post about the issue you are having connecting your Officejet 7410 to your wireless network. See the guide below, which should help but if not, check your router settings as well. I will post the router settings below.
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection
Network name and password need to have no spaces or punctuation
If using WPA2 security, switch to WPA personal
Dual broadcast Wireless b/g/n (printer will only connect to g)
Mac filter needs to be turned off
Firewall settings need to be at there default settings, or set to a lower security
    Multicasting "on"
Following ports need to be un-blocked:
    Incoming (UDP) ports : 137, 138, 161, 427
    Outgoing (TCP) ports : 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500

  • Wireless setup wizard on hp 7410 all in one doesn't give promt for next step in setting up wireless

The printer is connected to a computer (windows xp) through usb I want to enable the wirless for my laptop (windows 7). I ran the wireless setup wizard and it says searching for available networks then goes back to the home screen. I ran the network utility and the printer doesn't show up but the printer is shown under devices and printers when I click start. The wirless router is a D-Link dir-815 wireless N dual band router. it is 802.11g and a compliant.

Uh, this is a wireless printer, so let's set it up that way:
    - Disconnect the USB cable to the printer.
    - in Start > All Programs > Hewlett-Packard> [your printer model] > Add a Device.
    - Choose to add a Wireless or Network device.
    - At one point in the installation it will ask you to TEMPORARILY connect a USB cable.  Do so only after it asks.
    - Remove the USB cable when it asks.
Now that the printer is wirelessly connected to your network you can do the same procedure with other computers on the network, only you will NOT use the USB cable to communicate network settings to the printer - that has already been done with the first computer.

Help! I've spent hours researching this and can't find a solution...
I upgraded 3 Intel Macs in the house to Snow Leopard last weekend. All went differently...but all were successful. I found that the connection to my HP Officejet 7410 (connected wirelessly to 802.11g Airport Express (AEX) network) was "broken". Deleted then "re-intalled". Documents could now be printed. I then found out scan function was "broken". Figured out how to scan with new Snow Leopard "baked-in" driver and Scan tab...different, but it worked.
Then, tonight, on the eve of my birthday, I was given the green light to purchase an Airport Extreme 802.11n (dual-band) base station (AEBS). I set it up and got 2.5X speed on the two 802.11n laptops in the household. Glorious! Then I went to work to ensure print and scan functions were still operational. Tried to re-connect HP OJ 7410 to wireless network...when it found the network it asked for the "WEP" key (on previous AEX network I was secured utilizing WPA2/Personal)...I entered the WPA2/Personal password (same as previous network) and got the error message "Key must be 5 or 13 characters OR 10 or 26 length with 0-9 and A-F (hex)". So I turned off the wireless radio and instead plugged the 7410 into the AEBS via USB. Deleted the previous queue and re-installed. Found the printer no problem but now without the Scan tab or function anywhere...despite following all the recommendations found both on the HP site and here in the Apple Forums. I print fine. Can't for the life of me figure out what the problem with the now lost again Scan function is.
Only strangeness I can think of is the following: When setting up the network(s), I had the option of naming the 5 ghz band something different. I set mine up with the same name of the 2.4 ghz network with 5ghz in parenthesis (i.e. BobbyG and BobbyG (5 Ghz)).
Sorry for the long post but we need the scan function in the house for my wife's teaching purposes. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Very Respectfully,
    Bobby G.
