HP 7520 Double sided (duplex) scanning possible? If so, how do I make it work?

How can I scan a doublesided document (A4) with the HP Photosmart 7520?
I Prefer to scan directly to mail but I never see the option to scan the other side of a document. Not only with scan to mail, but also with the other options (scan to computer, USB)
On several reviews I've read the following:
"The Photosmart can print and scan in duplex (both sides of the page), but duplex scanning requires two passes"
But how does that work? I Guess it doesn't mean that I have to make two separate scans (that wouldn't be duplex offcourse).
But at no point i'm given the option to turn the document and resume scanning.
Any ideas on how to use duplex (sort of) scanning with the HP 7520?

The Photosmart 7520 does offer the ability to duplex scan.
Are you scanning from the Front Panel of the printer or from the software on the computer? Duplex scanning has to be initiated from the software.
To duplex scan from the software on the PC:
* Open the HP Printer Assistant software for the Photosmart 7520
* Select Scan a Document or Photo
* Select Document to PDF (or Email as PDF)
* On the right side of the screen is a list of drop down menus and one of them is the source of the scan
* Select to scan from the Automatic Document Feeder
* After selecting this option, a check box will appear below this option to turn on Dulpex scanning
* Set the other options as desired and start the scan
If you are scanning multiple pages that need to be duplex scanned, then the printer will scan the full list of one side and then instruct you on how to reset the pages for scanning the remaining sides. The unit does require a 'flip and resume' style method of duplex scanning. Hope this helps.

When trying to print from the mac (wireless), the option for double sided / duplex printing is always grayed out.
How can I enable this function?

    Hi,
The HP Photosmart 5514 (B111c) does not support automatic duplex printing but only the B111h model does.
You may perform manual duplexing using the Pages to Print option as listed below:

  • Acrobat Reader 8 Will Not Default to Double Sided / Duplex Printing In Linux

Acrobat Reader for Linux 8.1.2 seems to always default to single sided printing regardless of the system default. In order to save trees, toner, the environment and money, it would be nice if it would default to the system's default.
    > The default printing command is something like:
    > lpr -P printer_name -o InputSlot=Middle -o OutputBin=PrinterDefault -o Resolution=300x300dpi -o PageSize=Letter -o Duplex=None
    > Requiring the user to select double sided printing every time they print. This changes the command to:
    > lpr ... Duplex=DuplexNoTumble
    > It would be nice if the default setting was:
    > lpr ... Duplex=PrinterDefault
    > So that users could still choose but platform administrators could set the default in /etc/cups/lpoptions Unfortunately, most people will simply not print double-sided unless its the default.

  • I have a new macbook pro and an HP Deskjet D2500 series printer and i can not figure out how to do double sided (duplex) printing! any help?

Does anyone know how to set up print so that it comes out double sided with the macbook pro??

How you enable double-sided printing can depend on the applications from whick you wish to print. Example: if I print to my HP PhotoSmart  from Safari, I get this print dialog box:
(Edit: OOPS! Note that I forgot to switch printers when i took the scene-shots, so ignore the "Brother" reference. It's should look the same for your HP.
Note the selection labled "Safari" near the bottom. If I change that form "safari to "Layout: I get this:
Note the option for two-sided printing appears for your selection. If I print from Word, the box is different:
The "Copies & Pages" option can be changed to "Layout" when you click it, again allowing the selection of two-sided printing.
If you tell us what applciaiton is vexing you, we may be able to give better-focused information.

  • Hp laserjet 3055 will not print double sided

Okay, it worked before, but the scanner scanner software always crashed when I used it. So I thought I would reinstall the printer driver and see if that would let me scan. Well, the scanner software still crashes, but even worse there is no longer a double-sided (duplex) option available in the printer dialog. I have searched the support site and the internet but cannot find an answer.
I no longer care about scanning, but I would like double-sided printing back.

Woke up this morning and knew the answer. I had lost my presets for the printer when I had reinstalled the printer drivers. That was simple. I also installed manually HPPrinterDrivers2.14.dmg from the Apple support website and now scanning 'appears' to be working. I saw some info yesterday saying that this does not download through Software Update if you already have HP drivers installed.
Strange, but now things seem to be working better than before.

  • Can't print documents double sided

I am trying to print documents double sided but I cannot figure out how to do it.
I have been searching online and have found I need to set the document properties to duplex.
I have tried doing this; I right click on my document, select "document properties", go to the 'Advanced' tab. I can see "Duplex Mode" set to simplex but it is greyed out and I cannot change this.
I find it unbelievable that I can't just print a document double sided - it's taken me half an hour to try and figure out how to do what should be a 20 second job.
I am running Adobe Reader 11.0.09 on Windows 8.1 pro.

There is no duplex option in the print dialog. From what I've read online the document prints as simplex or duplex depending on what the document properties are and they can't be set in the print dialog.
If this is wrong and there is a way to select duplex from print dialog then I'd be happy to know about it - but all the information out there says even on versions where it is possible to set duplex in the print dialog the document properties override the printer settings.
Like I said I haven't tried it because there is no option there. The only duplex setting I can find is in the document properties which I can't change.

  • Cannot get double sided printing as a default with Internet Apps

When printing from an Internet App on the 8500A Plus, how do you get the printer to print double sided as the default

    KayPee,
The apps found on the printer have their own options.  If a particular app can support double sided (duplex) printing, it will be an option in the app itself.  If duplex print is not offered as a setting all ready in the app, the only way it will duplex print will be through a possible, future update to the app.  There is simply no way of knowing if an app will support any certain feature in the future.

i have a canon pixma ip4000 printer that can do duplex or double sided printing. it works fine on my pc but my mac wont let me choose the two sided option... ant ideas how to get this to work??

I have the same printer and this is what you do. Say your in Safari, go to Print and under Orientation there is a box which says Safari and has a drop down arrow. Click on this arrow and from the drop down list select Duplex Printing & Margin, check the box against Automatic Duplex Printing and select any further options as you want. Click Print.

  • Extra margins when printing double sided

I'm using Word 2007 and have created recipe cards using a basic recipe templete in Word. I have the top margin set to .25 and I'm printing on a regular 8x11 piece of card stock (I want to simply cut the sides and bottom down to make a 4x6 index card).
However, the margin is printing at almost .75 when I print double sided. Any help would greatly appreciated! I've been working on this problem for two days and I bought the printer to print both sides.
    Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? Because my C309g changes my margins when I print double sided, and I can't find any info on it anywhere...!

  • Acrobat + Duplex / Double Sided Scanning

    Hi,
I have a user who is currently experiencing a problem duplex scanning.
She has a duplex scanner, and when she tries to create a pdf using scanner, sets the option to '2 sides', then hits scan, it scans the first page, then prompts for her to manually turn the page over.
Doesnt seem to be a driver issue as duplex scanning is working perfectly using the Windows scanning utility.
She says that this definately worked in the past, but suddenly stopped. She isnt sure, but thinks its possible that it stopped working roughly the time that the trial period of acrobat finished, and I put in the license key.
She is using a version of Acrobat that came with her Scanner, I believe this is version 7 standard, but its possible that it might be version 8. Her laptop is locked away at the moment, so I can't check exactly what version it was.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ventzi

    Hi Daniel,
Only automatic double sided pritning is supported by the HP Orricejet Pro 8610.
Automatic double sided scanning is only supported by the HP Officejet 8620 or 8630 for that series.
You may perform manual double sided scanning by scanning from your PC.
From the HP Scan software click on Advanced Settings and check the box next to two-sided scanning.
Confirm and follow the steps on screen.
As a reference you may find its specifications below, the difference between the 8610 vs. the 8620 models are ADF Duplexing (two sided copying, scanning or faxing of an original) and the screen size:

  • Acrobat X Pro for Mac fails to scan double-sided

    Hello All,
I am having trouble in scanning double-sided through Acrobat X Pro with a Canon MF4880dw installed on an iMac with Mountain Lion.
Here is the procedure I follow:
File > Create > PDF from scanner
in the box "Sides", I select "Both Sides" and check the box for "Prompt for scanning more pages".
When I scan the first side of a multi-page document, I am prompted to indicate whether the scan is complete or I want to scan more pages, but I am NOT prompted to indicate whether I want to scan the other side!
Turning off the option "Prompt for scanning more pages" has the only result of completing the scanning procedure without asking anything else...
I found the following note on the on-line help of Acrobat,
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/X/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7f71.w .html
Note: You can scan both sides of pages even on scanners that do not themselves support two-sided scanning. When Both Sides is selected, a dialog box appears after the first sides are scanned. You can then reverse the original paper documents in the tray, and select the Scan Reverse Side (Put Reverse Of Sheets) option in that dialog box. This method produces a PDF with all pages in the proper sequence.
This is indeed what I have always done on a Windows 7 computer with Acrobat 8 and a Samsung multifucntion printer, and never ever had any problem.
In fact, I believe that the printer model is irrelevant, as this is an internal setting of Acrobat, and that this is a bug in the Acrobat X Pro for Mac, which must be fixed.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
    Thank you,
    Salvatore

    Dear Mamak,
    Many thanks for the note.
I followed your advice and dowloaded new drivers for my Canon MF4880dw.
The filename was different than yours, because the model was different.
However, I noticed that this last version I downloaded is pretty new (released in April), so I was hoping it would fix the problem. Also, it was the same file for all versions of Mac OS X from 10.5 through 10.8.
Unfortunately, no luck: Acrobat still does not ask me to scan the reverse side. Maybe I should have uninstalled the printer before reinstalling it?
I more or less solved the problem by scanning double-sided documents on Acrobat 7 for Windows (which I also have installed on my Mac), which is not optimal, but at least works.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you again,
    Salvatore

  • Printing: Double-sided or Duplex | Learn Acrobat X | Adobe TV

How to print PDF pages double-sided or duplex in Acrobat or Adobe Reader X (not 10.1.2 or later).
    http://adobe.ly/yMEfay

The print dialog that appears with Adobe Acrobat 10.1.1 does not match this video in crucial ways and has no Properties tab for the printer. This means that one has to use the OS printer setup dialog box to invoke duplexing, and the result for me (before I realized and hit cancel) was a document printing the first 400-odd pages of 700-odd pages 3 times, and never printing the end of the document - that's a lot of unnecessary printing, and a big problem. There are no printer preferences to set/choose, so can someone please a) explain why the print dialog shown here does not match the one in the program (Mac) and tell me how to duplex using the actual tools available in the program? Thanks very much

  • When using AirPrint is it possible to select double sided printing

I am trying to use AirPrint to print from the Pages app on iPad Air running IOS 8.1.1. Is it possible to select any of the printer options, such as double-sided printing, when doing this?
    Many thanks

Once you start to print using AirPrint, a display appears where you select the printer and options. Presumably the HP is your only AirPrint printer (as the Epson is mine). On that same screen, I can select the number of copies, and I also see an on/off slider for "Double Sided".

  • C410a - Double sided, 2 sided, duplexing shifts the image, and changes the registration.

Double sided, 2 sided, duplexing, moves the image, changing the registration. This makes it impossilbe to print folding cards or brochures correctly. Of course, with Word we can print double sided manually. But with Hallmark Card Studio and other such software, there is no manual option. Resetting margins is not going to happen, and some programs don't give that option anyway. Is there a simple work-around? Is there a way to just eliminate the auto duplex feature? This makes this printer a real pain and a high cost usless one for my wife, who does lots of cards.

    Hi,
I am having the same issues and am having no luck with HP techs (even told to return the printer by HP). Were you able to resolve this issue?? If I tell the thing to print with .125 margins all around, then that is what I should get; but instead, I get an upward shift of the entire page!?! Using Avery card stock is impossible because of this. I have tried using Corel Draw to layout, Publisher (with Avery template and without). I set up my own guidelines and reduce margins all around. I am going crazy with this!
