HP 7520 Printer - Need to bypass requirement for SETUP cartridges

I purchased a new HP 7520 and also a package of new ink cartridges for it. The printer was a store demo that was on sale. I got home with it and tried to set it up using my new cartridges and it continues to refuse to accept them stating that I need to use the SETUP cartridges which came with it. It did not come with SETUP as it was an out of box printer purchased in the store sale.
Have I just been screwed? Why the hades does it "require" setup cartridges? What does this cartridge do that new ones don't do? And how can I bypass this for setup? I'm not junking a $140 printer over lack of setup cartridges. I have been an HP customer for over 20 years...can't even tell you how many HP printers and PC's I've had over the years and this is the first time I've ever run into this ludicrous issue.
I'm not buying special SETUP cartridges. I want a bypass for this problem. I know there has to be one. The printer is brand new and had not apparently ever even been setup inside the store...it was a non-operational demo. The cartridge head is shiney and clean. C'mon HP...get real here! Why do you NEED setup cartridges? I'm an old customer. Work with me here!

Need to bypass "Remove and check color cartridge" error message

I have an old HP printer giving me the error message "Remove and check color cartridge." I remove it, it's good, I put it back, same message. I try leaving it out, I get an error message asking me to install a color ink cartridge.
I DON'T EVEN WANT TO PRINT WITH THIS PRINTER. I have a new HP printer connected to my wireless network that I use for all my printing. I am using the old printer for its scanning capabilities in my crafting area. I am JUST wanting to scan old pictures to an external hard drive for storage, so that I don't have thousands of print photos sitting around in boxes and files.
Please help.

I had the very same problem with my HP Officejet 7410 so cleaned the ink cartridge and carriage contacts per the directions listed on this link:

After my first attempt at cleaning these contacts, i reinserted the cartridge and tried printing again but I got the same error message. Next I removed both cartridges (color & black) from their slots and after pointing a flashlight at the carriage I discovered the bottom of the carriage was covered with ink, so....using over a dozen cotton swabs I cleaned the bottom of the carriage as best i could. Also, thinking that perhaps the ink cartridge was not manufactured exactly to its proper size and shape, when i inserted the cartridges back into their slots I slightly pressed them in to be sure the contacts would touch.
I was happy to see that now the error message is gone and my printer is printing again....well, at least for now.

Unfortunately you won't be able to purchase the setup cartridges at your local retailer, as they are shipped with the printer and only required during initialization. HP Photosmart 7520 printer cannot detect yellow cartridge

My 3-month-old 7520 printer stopped accessing its yellow cartridge when printing color photos, even though the display showed the yellow cartridge was still 1/3 full.
I put a brand-new yellow cartridge in, and the printer display showed a full cartridge, but the printer status report showed it to be empty. Print Quality Diagnostic report showed an empty cartridge, also.
Pulled the yellow cartridge and checked to see that there was ink at the port by touching my finger to it, left a wet yellow ink spot on my fingertip, so ink was good. Cartridge date shows it does not expire until 9/10/15, so still current.
Why can't the printer access the (brand new) yellow cartridge to print anything??
This is my first HP printer after a frustrating series of Epson printers, so I was really hoping for better.

I understand you are having issues with your yellow ink. I would love to help!
I would recommend performing a hard reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also suggest performing the steps listed in this document on Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.

Can't scan to PDF file on HP Photosmart 7520 printer

I have two HP Photosmart 7520 printers - one in my home and one at summer home. On one when I scan I get the option of document or photo and PDF or jpeg. On the other printer, I am not given any options and it automatically scans into a jpeg file. How can I get the PDF format option to work on printer number 2?

I understand that you cannot scan to PDF on your HP Photosmart 7520 printer. I am happy to help you with your scanning!
For further assistance, I will need some additional information:
If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
If the printer is able to make copies.

HP PhotoSmart 7520 printer

I purchased the HP PhotoSmart 7520 printer over a year ago and this piece of [Post Edited} Crap has never worked from the day that I took it out of the box. You know there is something wrong when HP constantly is updating to try to correct issues concerning this pile of crap. It constantly would need to have the IP address retyped for the wireless to work, and oh by the way if you thought you could solve the issue by just hooking up a USB cable well think again they don't provide one. Once you think you have it working then it will loose the wireless signal, or you will have to reconfigure your computer to recognize this printer.
The last straw was yesterday when I needed to make a copy for a home inspection on a house I am purchasing, do you think I could just press the print button? After 4 hours of troubleshooting the only thing this [Post Edited] would print was a test page.
I finally solved my problem, I ripped this thing out of the wall and smashed on the ground, now it works better than it ever did. I can't get HP to give me an address to send this back to them so they can study it or send it back to China to make more garbage printers and stamp HP logos on them.
I will never purchase a Hewlett- Packard Product ever again. Sincerely, Imfckd

Photosmart 7520 printer

I have the photosmart 7520 printer installed in my house in NJ. I want to buy the same printer for my house in Florida. Will I have a problem installing the "same" printer twice?

Printers are identified by it's id, not just the name. So they are not the "same" printer.
If you are installing a second printer on the same computer, you can just "add a printer", no need to install the software again. Most likely, you can just plug in the new printer, and it will get added automatically.
You might want change the name so you can easily tell them apart.

What is the full and exact message you are getting?

As you are so good I do have another problem. I have another 2 pc's on the network that show on the iMac but iMac cannot conect to. One is XP and the other is Vista both with Norton fire wall installed.

I just have a HP printer (HP Designjet 100) and for some reason I need to install a file for all the HP printers drivers in total 590MB to be able to use my printer in my mountain lion???
If normally the size of my files in the for previous software was more or less 5MB why now i need to install 590?

If you go to http://support.apple.com/downloads and locate the HP Printer Drivers installer, you will find that it is 473.4 MB (for version 2.11). If you install this, it will install the full set of drivers for every model of HP printer that is supported by the drivers distributed through Apple. The disk space occupied once installed will probably be larger than the download, since the downloaded file is compressed.
On the other hand, if you have an HP printer connected and you use Software Update (or the Update tab in App Store), that should offer you a much smaller set of HP drivers, which are only applicable to your printer (and possibly a few similar ones). These updates are typically only tens of megabytes rather than hundreds of megabytes.
If Software Update doesn't offer you any HP drivers then it either thinks you have the latest drivers installed already, or the printer model is not supported by the drivers available from Apple.

Do I need to export multiple sizes for all standard print sizes? i.e.Say I crop the image in LR to 6'5" x 9' to fit within an 11" x 14" (overall) mat of a framed print.. Now let's say I want to reprint that same image in a 12" x 16" size ... to fit within a mat of with overall size of 20" x 24"? Or will the 1st export be "locked" at 6.5" X 9" (proportionately)?

So, for the first one Export it cropped to 6.5 x 9 - and in the Export Dialog box there is a capability to rename the file for exported output - which would allow you to add something like the crop or intention to the base name of the file. e.g. for _IMG0846.nef - setup the output filename to _IMG0846-65x9 for 11x14.jpg and output it at, say 300 or 360 dpi. So, it has a unique name and purpose in your output folder.
For best results, now, re-crop the picture in LR - just open the crop [R] dialog again, reframe the image to the new ratio, 12x16 and Export again - with an adjustment to the filename. e.g. _IMG0846-12x16 for 20x24.jpg
So, now you have two clearly identified image files in your output area and you can provide those to whomever is printing for you, etc. Discard them when you're done since you always have the original to return to to re-frame again as necessary.
This way you get output sharpening and resolution (in pixels) optimized for your output print size. Maybe not super important for smallish prints-but more important for larger ones. Output at 100 quality.

I cannot print a pdf document on my HP 7520 printer.

When I open the document and click on print, it opens the printer dialog box. Since I have three printers installed on my windows 7 computer, I have to select the correct printer. When I scroll through the printer list, the HP7520 printer does not show up, so I have no way to print the document. As a test, I used photoshop to try to print the document and the 7520 printer did show up in the photoshop printer list and I was able to select the correct 7520 printer and print the document. Anyone have any idea why this will not work with adobe reader 11?

This turns out to be a registry error which occured when I de installed the older HP printer. It works now that the registry was corrected.

HP Photosart 7520, printing photo from iMac iPhoto, OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 color issues

First time ever tried printing a photo - on HP photo paper, using HP ink cartridges. It prints a color portrait accurately, except for eye glass frames and shadow shades which it prints in "green". I tried editing the same portrait in iPhoto to black and white and printing. Again, accurate shades of black and white except for the eye glass frames & shadow shades which printed in "green". Ruins the photo. Help please.

I see that you are having an issue with some portions of the print outs when printing photos.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.

My HP 7520 printer prints everything too RED.

I've cleaned the printheads, changed all the cartridges (several times), to no avail. I never had such a problem with my older (now dead) HP 6380 ... it had excellent color balance. WIZYWIG the HP7520 is NOT ... I have to adjust all my color prints to excessive blue and yellow, suppressing the red, to get even acceptable (not good ) prints. I find no way to adjust the overall color balance between the computer (photoshop) and the printer.

Hi , I see that you are experiencing issues with too much red is printing also. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
Did you already try the steps in this document? Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues. If you are using Windows, download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows? What were the results of the Print Quality Page? If the self tests are printing properly, it would be software related.What operating system are you using? I have provided two documents, one for Windows and one for Mac, to check the print driver preferences. Make sure the proper settings are set for the correct paper type and quality.Print Photos Saved on Your Computer (Windows).Print Photos Saved on Your Computer (Mac). What application are you printing from?Try another application to see if you have the same results. Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
