HP 8500A Plus A910G MarketSplash removal

I have been using my 8500A for several months and in general I like it except for the excessive wait time after pressing the Power On button to ready to print.  It is used on a wireless network and works fine.
This morning I upgraded the firmware to version LRP1FN1107AR. The upgrade went fine.  Now I see that HP Marketsplash is displaying on the printer screen at all times when the printer is idle.  I never had this problem before and want to stop Marketsplash from displaying.  It prevents the power saver mode from operating on the printer.
I called HP support and as per usual I got an incompetent person who said it could not be removed (after having me wait several times while he consulted with others).
I tried uninstalling the software from the computer and re-installing but that did not help.
Anyone got a clue how to get MarketSplash off of the printer?
Thanks
John

John,
I think if you follow these steps it should help you with the results you want.
To fix your screen issue
1.From the front panel select set-up(wrench icon)
2.Select tools
3. Select screen saver
4. Turn the screen saver off.
To give your printer a faster start-up time
1. From the front panel select set-up(wrench icon)
2. Select preferences
3. Select power save mode
4.  Select off
When this is selected to off and the printer is turned off some power will still be used, the printer when turned on will be able to print much faster.  Hope this helps

  • Cannot fax from my iMac to my Officejet Pro 8500A Plus A910g

I have researched HP help and followed the directions on how to add the fax to my available printers, but when I try to fax a document, the printer prints 3 pages with one line ofcode on each but does not fax the document. If I use the fax feature on the 8500A, it works as designed. I can scan from the 8500A to the iMac and print from the iMan to the 8500A. I would like to be able to fax documents from the iMac without printing them and then faxing.

    Hi A-BPlumber,
I would like to help you be able to send a fax from your mac without having to print it. Please ensure you are choosing the Fax driver next to the printer selection in the 'print' dialog box.
Please take a look at the following document to ensure you have all of the appropriate settings correct; Sending Faxes Using the Fax Utility - Mac OS X
    I hope this helps.

  • Ink/Cartridge issue with my OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus

My OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus has been drinking color ink.  We rarely print color, as we purchased this unit for its fax/copy capabilities (almost all B&W).   Upon recent replacement of the Cyan and Yellow cartridges, the system refuses to operate.  The status on the Cyan cartridge has a question mark "?" and reads empty.  This is a brand new cartridge.  Upon pulling the cartridge, it clearly has ink in it.  There seems to be a lot of ink build up in the port where the cartridge connects to the printer.
The Yellow cartridge status reads empty with an exclamation point "!".  This is also a new cartridge.  No sign of leakage, when I pulled the cartridge to examine.
What do I need to do to "fix" this situation, as I need the unit to be operational to receive faxes.  If the unit is beyond (my) repair, can you suggest a replacement printer that uses the 940 series of ink cartridges, as I have a small stockpile of them.
    Thanks and Kind Regards,
    Steve

I have the same problem! The 8500A Plus (A910g) won't print after I replaced with a new magenta cartridge.  I get the following message "replace the following depleted ink cartridge to resume printing."  I bought another HP cartridge from best buy and got the same message.  I then took all the cartridges out and noticed at the base of the cartridges slots that it was a pool of redish pinkage ink in all cartridge slots.  It is like the magenta ink port is wide open and depleting the ink within seconds.  What is going on here, a defect in the printer?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus - Magenta Not Printing

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus (A910), Model number CM756A, Serial number: [Moderator edited Serial Number] that is not printing magenta.
Firmware version: LRP1FN1231AR. Service ID 21057. IK Number 658.
Software version: 028.000.1315.000. Printer Driver version: 09.84.00.1189
The Printhead Status for all cartridges reports as "Good" in the Self Test Diagnostic Page.
I have run a Print Quality Diagnostics and in Test Pattern 2 there is no red/magenta colored block appearing.
I did not have any alert for low print quantity, however I replaced the Magenta inkcartridge with an HP Officejet 940XL new magenta ink cartridge (HP genuine) and still there is no Magenta printing.
When I open the ink cartridge holder, the printer shows HP Model: A910g, HP Ink Cartridge 940.
I have gone through this exercise several times, however the latest Magenta ink cartridge that I removed from the printer prior to replacing had the following information on it:  C4908A, 2016/05/22.  The newest cartridge I put in has a September 2017 expiration date (part number C4908A).
I am not getting any error messages or anything, there is just no Magenta being printed.
First - I would like to know how to fix this issue with the HP printer.
Second - is there anyway to get a refund for the ink cartridges I have had to use (and waste) trying to resolve this problem.
    Thank you.

I am still having this problem with my printer. It worked for a few months just fine, now it hangs every time it sits for more than a few minutes.
    {Content Removed: Confidential information}
When I do this, nothing happens. If I press & hold the power button the power light comes on, but the screen stays blank. Pressing the button combos you suggest on the blank screen does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?
    UPDATE:
    OK, I got into the menu. I didn't have to do the 5 second power button thing. {Content Removed}
I have been playing around in this new menu and have discovered that if I place the printer in MFG mode, it responds and prints even after going to sleep (but the print quality is bad). When I place it back in USER mode, it goes back to not printing after a few minutes. For now, I am just running the printer in MFG mode unless I need to print something with high quality. I really hope they can get a firmware update to fix this thing or it's going to be my new boat anchor soon.

  • Windows 8 scanning on officejet 8500a Plus

After upgrading from Windows 7 to 8, I am unable to scan using my OfficeJet 8500a Plus.  Downloaded the latest trouble shooter, and Printer seems to be installed and is default.  I am able to print, but when I go to the print center and select the scanning option, I get an error message that the printer is not installed.  Same things happens if I try to intiate a sccan from Acrobat pro 9.  When I I select the printer from the drop down (only one there) I get an error that there is a network error.  Followed trouble shooting steps on site, checked firewall settings (default windows firewall at this point) to no avail.  Tried removing and reinstalling the printer, as well as re-intiating the wireless connection from the printer,  No go.
Am able to print without a problem wirelessly, it's just the scanning that is a problem.

This sounds quite promissing.  Will test as soon as I get back into town.  If this works, we really need to put this out on the net, as apparently I am not alone in experiencing this type fo problem.  I have seen all kind of different replies, but this seems to be the most logical.
I must say that it is somewhat frustrating that the new diagnostic tool that is supposed to identify and fix the problem, did not do this automatically, as programatically it does not seem like a major task to identify an outdated installation, uninstall it, and install a more updated version.
Thanks for your reply, and I will report back on the results.
best regards, and thanks for the quick reply!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus printing issues

I have been having two new issues suddenly (within the past 2 weeks) with my HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus. I am trying to print from my iMac 27 inch running OS.X 10.8.4 Both the mac and the printer are connected to a wireless network via an Xfinity Wireless Gateway. I have just replaced the ink cartridges in the printer but am unable to print black & white. In fact everything is comming out kinda pink. I have posted on HP's support site and was told to
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Having done that initially my problem was solved. But now I'm having the problem again. I went through the above steps again, but still not able to print. Are there any suggestions for a fix. Is anyone else seen this issue? Is there a particular printer manufacturer that works well with Apple. Because at this point I have a large paperweight that is of no use to me!

The fact that it was solved and then came back points to some (unknown) issue with your Mac's software.
Try these generic fixes first (and then do the reset printing system and re-add again):

  • My Hp 8500a plus printer keeps saying it is offline and will not print. Was printing now stopped.

I have an HP 8500a plus printer. Lately, when I go to print from Macbook or iPad, it tells me the printer is offline. My printer says it is connected to my wifi but will not print. Printer firmware is up to date. I have changed nothing, and now it will not print. Very frustrated and tired of spending all of this time trying to fix the printer just to print. This is my second HP printer this month and it works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes.
Am I missing something? I don't understand how it can print one day and not the next.

Try this if it is an Airprint Printer.
    1. Turn the router, iPad and printer off
    2. Turn on the router and then wait 30 seconds
    3. Turn on printer and then wait 30 seconds
    4. Turn on your iPad and test print.

  • GOT A HP OFFICEJET PRO 8500A PLUS; I MUST RE-ENTER WIRELESS SETTINGS EVRYTIME I USE IT??

I just got an OfficeJet Pro 8500a Plus, on the touchscreen i have to set-up (username and password) the wireless connection to my wireless SSID; and that confirms the connection ok. At that point i can print no problem, scan and fax.
The problem arises when my wireless router fails and restarts, the next time i use my printer it says it is not connected and i must reconfigure from the touch screen again username and password. Is there no way to have these settings entered permanently so if my router resets or whatever i do not have to re-enter all settings? Thanks for the help and hopefully good news.
    Thank you so much

This is strange.  Does the printer ever lose power?
Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can change the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Booklet printing hp officejet pro 8500a plus

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus and run Win 7 64-bit and MS Office 2010 Pro.  I can print booklet format from PDF documents, but not from Word.  In Word, when selecting [Print Properties], I can choose [booklet], but once I click on OK, this setting is discarded and defaults back to full page double-sided printing.  How can I fix this? I have tried it with a different printer and it then works from Word, suggesting that the problem probably lies with the printer driver.

NOTE:    The printer driver does not support manual duplexing. Two-sided printing requires an HP Automatic Two-sided Printing Accessory to be installed on the device

  • Alignment failure - HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus all-in-one printer. The printheads failed and I bought authentic HP printheads (two), installed them and I still get the alignment failure error. The print quality is excellent on all quality and alignment reports that I have printed. What is the problem and what is the solution?
    Craigranderson

Hi craigranderson, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you are experiencing an alignment failure.  I would like to try and help.
I would suggest performing a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend following the steps in this document on an 'Alignment failed' Error Message Displays on the All-in-One.

  • Why can't I print to my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus All-in-One from my wired PC?

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus All-in-One on my network.  My router is wireless, which several of my devices (laptops, ipads, etc.) use to get an internet connection, but I have one desktop PC that is actually wired to the router via ethernet cable.  For some reason, when I attempt to print to the 8500 from the wired PC, the doc just sits in the que, eventally registering as an 'error'. But all of my wirelss devices can print to it just fine.
Oddly, this is somewhat of an intermittent issue, as I have printed successfully from this PC before, but I can't right now.  I'll also throw this in: I have at times, plugged an ethernet cable into my wireless-capable laptop and had the same issue.  But then I just unplug the calbe, reboot, and turn on wireless, and can print without any issues ... so I suspect it has something to do with the fact that the PC is wired to the router.
Don't know if this has anytthing to do with it, but my wireless network is called 'FrogNet', but my wired PC doesn't see 'FrogNet' like all my wireless devices do.  It just indicates that this is part of a generic network.   Ideas?  (All computers run Win7.)

  • My HP OfficeJet Pro 8500a Plus won't print. Paused queue cannot resume. 'Doctor' fails to solve.

As a Windows 7 Admin user I can print to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500a Plus but other users cannot. Their prints go into the 'Print Queue' and neither Resume or Restart will work. Resume merely deletes it from the queue and Restart does nothing.
Print and Scan Doctor doesn't resolve the problem. It refers to the 'stuck queue' and restarts the computer. Even then it does nothing to solve the problem.
There appear to be many instances of this problem on searching the Internet, most suggesting highly complex solutions. Surely it shouldn't be that difficult to solve.

It sounds like it could be a permissions user since the admin account has no issue printing to it.
Are the other users printing from the same computer, but different accounts or are they printing to the networked printer from different computers?
