HP 8600 Officejet Pro print light/dark control

HP 8600 Officejet Pro e-All-in-One
Windows XP
Is there any way to darken the black print on my machine? The copy feature offers this feature but I can't find anything for printing purposes.
This question was solved.
View Solution.

The only option to darken the text is to change the print quality to its highest setting. To do so, please follow the steps listed below.
In the software program you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print . The Print dialog box will open.
Select your product from the Name drop-down menu, and then click Properties . The Properties dialog box will then open.
Click the Paper/Quality tab.
Under Quality Settings you will be able to increase the print quality.

  • How do I print standard 6 3/4" standard size envelopes from an hp 8600 officejet pro printer?

How do I print 6 3/4" standard size envelopes from an hp 8600 officejet pro printer. This printer has this size on the tray and has this size listed in the printer set up on the printer, but the drop down boxes from my computer to set up the printer do not have this standard size listed. I keep getting messages on my printer that it is not set for the right size. I have a list of supported envelopes and their numbers for this printer but which one of these other numbers is the same as the 6 3/4" standard size envelope. I have an operating system of windows 7 with an older version of publisher. Everything else prints ok from publisher & the printer, just not the standard size envelopes of 6 3/4".
    Please help!

    Hi indy-girl,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to print 6 3/4" envelopes from your HP Officejet Pro 8600, but keep getting an error 'printer that it is not set for the right size'. After taking a look at the Supported envelopes sizes, the 6 3/4 is not supported. See below:
I was able to take a look at the 8600, the only thing I am seeing listed on the paper tray is Legal/Letter, and the 4x6". I am not seeing the 6 3/4 size.
    I hope this helps!
    Thanks,

  • HP 8600 Officejet Pro stuck on layout setting of long-edge binding (duplex printing)

My HP 8600 Officejet Pro 8600 is stuck on a layout setting for printing of long-edge binding (duplex printing). It's conected to a mac running OSX 10.8.4 Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi,
From the application used to print click on File and the select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click the blue triangle next to the printer name to see all available settings.
In the expanded Print window you will find next to Copies the checkbox for Two-Sided. Check the box.
NOTE: If the checkbox does not appear within the specific application print dialog, skip this step.
Click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
    6. Set the Two-Sided option as the required binding or select Off to disable it.
Click on Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset and perform the print job... the settings will remain default till another preset will be used.

  • 8600 Officejet Pro fax redial

I have an 8600 Officejet Pro. Have changed settings in advanced fax setup so that busy redial is off and no answer redial is off, but the crazy thing is, it still redials. How can I stop this?  Thanks for any advice.

    Hi,
Has anyone responded to this? Any solutions?
I have pulled the power, tried turning it off in the fax wizard and the redials are continuous and driving me mad!
I've hit the "cancel fax" button hundreds of times and can't get to the "set-up" app before it reverts to dialing again.

  • HP 8600 Officejet Pro keeps rebooting

THe printer is in a reboot cycle and never completes the boot process.  Can't get to a menu, just reboots and starts over.

    Hi @RodLH,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer keeps rebooting. I am happy to help!
I would suggest a hard reset, by going to this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1. It is important that the printer's power cable is plugged directly into the wall outlet, and not a surge protector! Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

  • Broken letter tray flap on Officejet Pro printer

Is there anywhere to buy a replacement part for the Officejet Pro 8600? I checked HP's replaceable parts list for this printer and don't see the part I need.  It's a plastic part that pulls out and stops the paper from flying out when the paper is coming out of the printer. It has a flap that you can flip up, to stop the paper and keep it in place once its printed, or you can flap it down. It snapped off and don't know where to get a replacement.

    It's called the output tray.

    Hi poemscaper,
I believe the printer is having a hardware malfunction, and you might be able to fix it by resetting the power. Please try the document below, if that does not work, you can contact HP support in North America at 1-800-474-6836 or find the local telephone number for your country here: http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html Please look for the category "Technical Support After you Buy"

  • 8600 officejet pro wont shutoff bygreen button on front of machine unplugging doesnt work either

    8600 wont shutoff

Good day to you, @TEJOSand welcome to the community!
I hope I can help you
I saw that your Officejet 8600 will not power off, and you've tried unplugging the machine.
My suggestion would be to try a firmware update.
You can try updating the firmware through the front of the printer if you can access the menus and if the printer is on a wireless network. Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates
If not, plug in a USB cable to your Windows 8.1 system and download this firmware update: HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a Firmware
Also, when you reset the printer, and have it unplugged for at least 30 seconds, try holding the power button down for a few seconds to drain any additional power inside of the printer. When plugging the printer back in, plug in the power directly to a power outlet to ensure the unit has full power.
If there is still any problems with powering the unit on or off, please call us!

  • 8500 officejet pro printing isues

My 8500 has not printed well in black after the first month. I have lines through black print on 2 or 3 lines per page. Those line are not readable. I've tried everything the trouble shooting recommended numerous time. I've wasted so much ink trying to fix this I've given up a started printing to an old printer. This has been nothing but trouble and frustration for me.

    Hi Windsprints,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some issues when attempting to print in colour.

  • Problems using 8600 Officejet Pro

I used to be able to scan to an email address but when I try using one of my email addresses, it says it cannot connect to the secure server.  So I went and deleted the profile from my outgoing email profiles and added it again and now it says that the secure connect failed.  I checked my settings and everything is fine, what am I doing wrong?

    Hello popskiutah,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are having issues with the profile settings from Scan to Email with the Officejet Pro 8600, which model of 8600 is yours, the N911a, N911g or the N911n?
Also, which Email client are you using, Gmail, MSN, etc? I have been noticing a lot of them are using a Two-Step Verification, check to see if your client is and disable it, if needed.
Lastly, have you tried with another Email address?

  • Network Printing Problems with Windows 8.1 and HP 8600 Officejet Pro

I can not print or scan from my Dell 2720 after the system has gone to sleep.  My printer shows as connected to my network.  Most time I have to completely restart my PC to get it to work but even that doesn't correct the issue most time.  I have removed and reinstalled the printer at least a dozen times and updated the drivers several times.  Also another oddity - my router is a dual-band (2.4 & 5 GHz) and my printer only connects to the 2.4 GHz connection which I understand is normal but any device attempting to print must be connect to the 5GHz band or nothing will print.  So essentially I have two problems.  Any suggestions?

    Hi @mhmost,
I would be happy to help you print to your 8600. Running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
    Connectivity:
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.
Source:Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows
Click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor> >>>>> www.hp.com/go/tools
If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.
As for the frequency, you are correct, the printer will not work over the 5.0GHz frequency, only with the 2.GHz.I suggest disabling the 5.0 frequency, and running on only the 2.4.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8000 Wireless all Control Panel lights blinking

I have had my OJP 8000 Wireless for almost two years now.
About six months ago, I came into my office and found all of the lights on the front blinking.  According to page 96 of the User Guide, "A non-recoverable error has occurred. Unplug the power cord, and then plug the power cord back in, and try printing."  Until you unplug the printer and restart it, printing may or may not occur.  Typically, the printer will not print.  If a document does print, it clears the blinking lights and the printer will operate until the lights all start blinking again.
When the problem started occuring it occured once or twice a week.  Now the problem seems to occur at least once every day, sometimes two or even three times per day.  While unplugging and plugging in clears the issue for the time being, within 24 hours, the lights are all blinking again. It's becoming particularly annoying when you print from somewhere else and then walk over to the printer only to find the lights are all blinking. You then power cycle it, walk back and re-print your document.  The practice is if you see the lights blinking, power cycle the printer so that you avoid someone not getting their output.
I have periodically checked ink levels and those are all supposedly fine.  I only use HP cartridges, so I would like to think that is not the issue.  The printer is attached to my Ethernet network via wire at 100Mb and wireless is disabled.   The printer gets printed to only a few times per day (under five times on average).  I have checked and I am on the latest firmware for this printer (BZM1FN1006BR), so I am at a loss as to what more I can do.

I also have been having this exact same problem for over two years now but never found a solution. I  think I have only printed out about 50 pages since I purchased the printer new in 2010 and at one point it just started doing this.  I can reset the printer by unplugging it and it will work temporarily; sometimes long enough to print out 2 or 3 pages but always goes back to the same faulting state within minutes. This happen whether or not it's connected to a network, USB, or nothing at all.  I also have the newest firmware and purchasing new ink cartridges about 15 months ago never fixed it. (They are nearly empty now and I don't think I have printed more than about 15 pages!)  Does anyone from HP know why the printer keeps faulting like this? I print so seldom that it's a shame for me to have to have to buy a new printer just so that I can print out the odd few pages every few months, and this one was expensive back when I purchased it and it's practically useless when it keeps faulting like this.
