HP 8600 printer

After installing a new black ink cartridge I got an error message saying: "One or more cartridges are missing or damage." I tried the old cartridge with same result. I tried new color cartridges with same result. I powered down the printer and disconnected the power cord, same result. I examined the connection area between the ink cartridge and its holder and did not see anything obvious. This is a HP Office Jet Pro 8600. The only thing that I think I did wrong was that I did not know how to release the old cartridge and I may have caused some damage when tried to get it to release.

Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)

Unable to load HP 8600 printer driver on laptop

Hi Folks,
Just installed a new HP Officejet 8600 printer into my home network. The network consists of 4 PC’s, two desktops and two laptops…all are running XP SP3 with the latest updates. The HP printer and one of the desktops are connected by Ethernet to a wireless router. The other desktop and both laptops are connected wirelessly via 802.11. Installation of the printer driver was successful with both desktops and one of the laptops. The other laptop, a Dell Latitude D520, fails on the final step of the installation process, after selecting the printer name following its detection on the network. Avast! Internet Security and Malwarebytes run on all the machines and are disabled, along with Windows firewall, during the install process. The following dialog is displayed:
“Unsuccessful Network Installation – The printer was unable to be installed over the network.”
No other error information is provided. I’ve tried installing from the product CD (which is up to date) as well as the driver software downloaded from the HP support site, rebooting multiple times. I also downloaded the recommended HP troubleshooting tool (HP Installation Failure – Unknown Device) and ran through the process a couple of times without success. All of the machines, including the D520 laptop, can see each other as well as the HP printer. There are no network issues I’m aware of.
I’ve exhausted what little expertise I have in this area. If anyone out there can think of a possible solution or provide some suggestions, I’d sure appreciate it. Thanks much.

Hello marconi10. Welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are unable to install your printer on one computer, over a wireless connection. I'm going to suggest a very simple workaround, which if it works, will remove any complicated troubleshooting that would be necessary:
Please try installing the printer with a USB connection. If this does not work, you know that there is an issue occurring with the computer.
If this does work, the printer will be successfully installed. At that point, you can change the connection type from USB to wireless. For more information on how to do this, please reference this HP document: Convert from a USB connected printer to wireless
If the printer will still not connect wireless, this will point out a computer issue. For additional information and troubleshooting, relating to the inability of installing the printer over a wireless network, please reference this HP document: 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Message Displays on the Computer During Wireless Network Installation
Please respond with the results of your troubleshooting. I'm only here to help!

Installing the new os may have tricked one of the three devices involved. If it used to work, it will again.
Reboot the printer.   Reboot the router. On the pad, general, reset, reset network connections.
Make sure all the devices are on the same wifi network.   Talk nice to it.

Can't Connect HP Pavilion Wirelessly to HP 8600 Printer

Background: I have Verizon Internet service via a ACTIONTEC M1424WR Rev. I wireless server. I successfully connected a HP OfficeJet PRO 8600 all-in-one Printer N911a to the server with contact ID 192.168.1.5. The printer works for several PCs that are in use at my house. I have a HP pavilion g7 1338dx notebook PC running Microsoft WIN 7 Home Premimum (64 bit) and wanted to connect it to the printer.
I loaded HP Office Jet Pro 8600 series disk version 28.8 on the pavilion and was unable to connect to the printer. The software is unable to find the wireless printer either while the software is loading or when I give it the ID address directly.
However, the pavilion accesses the Internet wirelessly and if I type in the ID address is able to directly access the printer and print a test page. I have tried all of the suggestions that the software has given me with no success.

I read about how the printer is not being detected when you run through the installation. I have a guide that should help you through the setup and hopefully get the printer to be recognized.

HP Officejet Pro 8600 - Print Preview is not available

I have a new HP Officejet Pro 8600 AIO printer that I purchased last week. I hooked it up to print in a network environment. I have thee window xp systems and three windows 7 systems printing to it with no issues.I am very happy with it. Yesterday my wife told me that when she printed she missed the print preview that our former printer had. I thought I would easily get into the HP 8600 printer program and setup the print preview option. To my surprise after checking in numerous areas and online, I found out that it looks like the option has been left out or not provided for the printer by HP. I realize the MS Office and many other programs have their own print preview however when being online with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, you quickly realize that the option to select the pages you want to print and not print could save alot of wasted paper and ink. Someone please tell me that a print preview software option is in the works for this otherwise great printer! I can not imagine leaving this out of the printing software package provided.

Since HP isn't answering me on the 'Print Preview' being available soon or which HP printers software actally HAVE the 'print preview' function enabled... I did some searching and I found a partial answer to the 'print preview' delema. The web site http://www.obviousidea.com/windows-software/greencloud-printer/
has a free program called GreenCloudPrinter which, in a nut shell, will install a printer? called GreenCloud which set itself up as the default printer and any file that is sent to the printer gets directed to the GreenCloud device which will then bring up a 'print preview' screen with options to remove blank pages and or print or not print the preview! And a lot of other functions too. Works great and it's free. You do have to register it and a registration code is emailed to you to unlock the program. I hope that helps you out... worked for me.

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer - help for office environment/wireless network

I'm an HP person (i.e., laptob, printer, etc.). Our office had a Brothers (sorry) MFC 9840 and with it we had a desktop app that would allow us to scan, copy and fax from our personal computers. Needless to say that printer died and I bought the office an HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer. Because the aforementioned capabilities existed, the staff would like them for our new HP printer. I didn't see these capabillities on the support disk. Did I miss it? Can you help. Thanks (because I can not believe the HP would put out such great products without this capability).

HP 8600 Printer Will not see printer when scanning.

I am using an HP 8600 Printer. It is connected to my computer and prints just fine. I am also able to scan from my computer. However, when I go to the printer and select "scan" then "computers" my computer is not listed. I never had a problem with it until now. I can from my computer scan a document, but not from the printer itself. Why is that and why will the printer not list my computer. It does not make any sense!

No the other computer is running Widows 7. The one I am having a problem with is running Vista. It worked before and now it doesn't. All items in Network Sharing Center and "On". Next suggestion! Thanks for all your help by the way. I don't know what else to try. : (

Setting up a Network folder so that I can scan from my HP 8600 printer

The HP instructions show the likely address for a windows Network folder but say go to the operating system instructions for a Mac. There is nothing on the HP site that gives me a clue as to the folder address. I cannot find a way to get an address for a folder. I created a folder titled " HP Scan " on my Mac Desktop and turned on sharing. I have tried several possible addresses but nothing works. I am connected to a small network via a new Apple Airport Extreme. There are only three things on the network, my Macbook Air, a smart TV and the HP 8600 printer.
Any help appreciated.

You should be able to use the OpenVPN Connect app running on your iPad to connect your iPad to the VPN directly. It is an official OpenVPN client for iOS devices.
In what way is it "not compatible"? Have you tried it? Tunnelblick is an OpenVPN client, so your school's VPN is using the OpenVPN protocol. That means any OpenVPN client should be able to access it. (It is possible, but unlikely, that your school uses encryption that is not available on the iPad, but that would be very unusual.)
Otherwise, a remote control app on your iPad would let you control your Mac at home. "Back to My Mac", for example, would allow you to control your Mac remotely. The tricky part of this is that usually a VPN is set up to send all Internet traffic via the VPN server, and I'm not sure how that would work with "Back to My Mac".

My 8600 printer (fairly new) will not print: Displays "out of paper". It is NOT out of paper.

I have followed all instructions on the 8600 printer on internet. What do I do to get it printing again.
Just displays "out of paper." I have removed the paper, fanned it, jogged it, etc., but no go.

HP 8600 printing issue

I have an HP office jet 8600 printer that was originally set up for e print and wireless however i am now in a location without wireless and need to print via connecting through a USB cable to the printer. The printer error message says "not connected to a network" and wont print. it is liek it still thinks i am on wireless. how do i change the settings over to printing via usb?

Margins on print copies from HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer are not aligned with original document

My HP Office ject Pro 8600 Printer is not printing the same margins as my original document. The left margin on the print copy is 3/4" too far to the right. The margin on the right is too far right and the text is being printed off the page! The problem seemed to start when I loaded Avery Labels to print. I run a non-profit and need to make copies asap for a sponsorship letter for a fundraising event.

Have you tried doing the firmware update for the printer? The firmware update
Fix/Enhancements are as follows.
1) Enhance ePrint Diagnostic report for ePrint Setup
2) Improve ease of wireless setup
3) Enhanced Embedded Web Services
4) Improve Print Quality
5) Improve Ink Usage
6) Improve paper path performance
7) Improve Digital scan performance
To check the version of your current printer firmware:
Printer Information Screen
1. From the Control panel, press Help (?) button, select Printer Information
2. Use the down arrow button to scroll to the 2nd screen
3. The current firmware revision will appear on the screen
If you do not have Version CLP1CN1322CR you need the update.

I purchased a new tower last night that operates with Windows 8 and has a 64 bit program. Will the cd's I have for the 8600 printer work. I presently have windows XP.

It's looking for the password for an Admin user on the machine (probably you) use the one you log onto the computer with
