HP 8600 Pro going offline

I have a Macbook pro connected to a wireless access point/router - it broadcasts DHCP in the 192.168.1.0-100 range.
I have installed an HP8600 Pro onto the network, using it's wireless connection, and hardcoding it to 192.168.1.150 address (so as not to DHCP and change settings...)
If I take the laptop home for the evening and comeback, and try to print, it doesn't work. I go to 192.168.1.150 in my browser and it tells me that it is online and reay to print.
But when I go to the apple print option. It says, "Looking for Printer" and then "Printer Offline".. (We did have a power outage in the meantime)
It's connected and working If I mail a document to <printername>@hpeprint.com it works. But the OSX Print handler doesn't seem to want to know about it.
the only thing that comes to mind, is I go into "Printer Setup" for the printer, under the general tab, it has a URL, which is
dnssd://Officejet%20Pro%208600%20%5B8C938C%5D._ipp._tcp.local. Which ends up looking like
dnssd://Officejet Pro 8600 5B8C938C]._ipp._tcp.local - I am guessing that this isn't being found... it talks about DNS Service discovery (dnnsd) - Whereabout is this "hiding" the information? Would it be caching it in the router? I have DNS's etc in router and printer set to the google DNS's (8.8.8.8) - should I revert this back to the router...)

This is what I did to fix my HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a offline issue.
I have mine wireless - connected to AT&T U-verse cable modem - always went offline.
Odd thing was I could update the firmware and access the webpage no problem... so it had to be Windows...
You need to connect directly to the printer using "Standard TCP/IP Port"
NOTE: That means you have to first give your printer a static ip address...  that your router IS NOT using in it's DHCP range. - Please research how to assing a static ip address to a printer before proceeding here...
Right click on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 and select "Printer Properties"
Click on "Change Properties" button to make administrative changes to the printer
Go to the "Ports" tab and make sure your Printer "HP Officejet Pro 8600" is using the "Standard TCP/IP Port"
If it is already set to "Standard TCP/IP Port" select the Port and click on the "Configure Port..." button
Uncheck the SNMP Status Enabled and the printer should come online.

  • HP 8600 constantly goes offline on Windows 8

Does anyone have any tips on why my HP 8600 keeps showing that it is offline on Windows 8?
I have two machines running Windows 8 and both show the printer offline.
I also have a mac, ipad and another computer running Windows 7 - and each of these can print just fine (while it is still offline for the Windows 8 machines)
The only way I have found to fix it is to erase all drivers, reset the network router, and reinstall everything.  Clearly not a solution every 2 days.
    Anyone have any advice?
    Thanks!

    Hi there Tykov,
    Welcome to the Forums!
I saw your post about your Officejet 8600 showing offline on your Windows 8 system. There may be a firewall on that specific computer that is blocking the connection, amongst other possibilities.
I suggest troubleshooting the problem by using the guide below:
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection
    I hope this helps you!

  • Vonage Adapter on Network Magic Pro goes offline for no reason

    1. Network Magic version: 5.5.9195.0-Pure0
    2. Internet connection via Texas Communications in Bryan, Texas which is line of sight tower transmission to the dish receiver
    (modem) on my home. http://www.tconline.net/default.htm
    3. Texas Communications Modem - Motorola Canopy (Motorola Wireless Broadband Platform)
    4. D-Link Router DIR-615, Hardware version B2, Firmware 2.25
    5. Problem device is Vonage Voice over IP box (Vonage V-Portal Digital Phone Adapter) wired to the router.
    6. Computer uses Windows XP Home Edition with sp3.
    7. AVG version 10.0.1204 Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011
    8. Windows firewall.
The problem occurs when the Vonage adapter drops offline (according to Network Magic Pro) for some unknown reason. The icon for  Vonage dims in the NMP map but the Vonage phone continues to work at a degraded level (about every 2nd or 3rd word spoken is not received).
I've tried port forwarding the Vonage adapter but this doesn't keep the adapter online.
Once the Vonage adapter drops offline the only way I've found to correct the problem is to delete the adapter from NMP then
re-install it again. There doesn't seem to be a way to wake up the adapter once offline. I can reboot my network computers and this doesn't affect the Vonage adapter.
    Help!

You have to do a little better than that.
    Printer?
    current drivers?
Network? wireless? or bad USB cable?

  • Mac Pro RAID 5 disk goes offline frequently in a random way. What can be causing this odd behavior?

    Hi dudes,
I installed recently two Mac Pro RAID cards inside their corresponding Mac Pro systems. Four 2 TB Hitachi SATA disks are contained inside each system, and configured as RAID 5. Yes, the operating system is installed on this RAID 5 volume in order to get the highest performance of the array, taking advantage of the RAID 5 protection (Autodesk Smoke runs in each system; this application works only with uncompressed video in real time). I already had tested both systems keeping separated the boot disk just for the operating system, and making the RAID 5 volume just with three 2 TB disks, but the performance was slow on both systems.
The performance is now very good, but unfortunately, in both systems happens that sometimes one of the disks goes offline with no apparent reason. The RAID Utility immediately reports the failure and it is mandatory to declare as spare the disk that went offline. Then the rebuild process begins, but in the meantime, the performance goes down in a noticeable way. Sometimes it is even worse, because the disk disappears completely. Then, it is mandatory to turn off the system, and boot it up again, in order to see in the RAID Utility the missing disk, which needs to be declared as spare in order to be reintegrated into the RAID 5 volume in a slow rebuilding process.
Some important remarks: this very new Mac Pro systems do not have the iPass cable (at least apparently; I already disassembled completely one of these systems). This cable is mentioned in one Mac RAID card manual that I found over the internet. The diagrams do not match exactly with the Mac Pro nor the Mac Pro RAID board. I did not find a proper iPass connector in any of the Mac Pro RAID cards (?!). So, my guess is that currently the communication between the system and its Mac Pro RAID card is just by means of the internal bus. I think that if the iPass connection were mandatory, the RAID Utility would report it with a noticeable error message. Please advise.
I think that these Mac Pro RAID cards need a firmware upgrade, in order to be able to work fine with big SATA drives. Again, please advise.
    Thanks in advance from Mexico.
    Sincerely,
    Martin Ponce de Leon

    Hi Grant,
Thank you for your prompt response. The manual is a PDF document issued by Apple and it seems OK, but no updated to the latest Mac Pro system and Mac Pro RAID. I do not find the link where I found this manual. The systems belong to one of our customers. As far as I remember, in the printed manual included with the boards, it is not mentioned anything about the iPass cable, just about the battery cable. Do you know where can I get a PDF manual of the latest Mac Pro RAID card and the latest Mac Pro system? This client is far from our offices. So, I would prefer a PDF copy of this manual.
The drives that have gone offline, once they are back, are reported in a good status in the RAID Utility. Besides that, I have tested them in another system in our facilites, and all of them work fine. So, my guess is that the high capacity drives are not yet supported by the Mac Pro RAID card, or it requires a firmware update.
They do need to have in the same volume OS and video storage because three disks do no provide a good performance (they need also RAID 5), but four disks work fine... excepting when one disk is missing. Please advise. Thank you.
    Best Regards,
    Martin

  • HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Printer constantly goes offline

We have a HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Printer. We initally put this on our print server. But almost immediately it goes offline. Current settings:
Jam Recovery: Auto Auto Continue: On IO Timeout: 1800 Auto Off: Disabled
Since it was so problematic - we took it off the printer server and are allowing access via IP (not going through our prit server) and it is behaving the same way.
Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions?

    Hi @Halan ,
I see by your post that you aren't able to print when the laptop isn't in the same area as the printer. I would like to help you out today.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7590 goes "offline" from my HP Pavilion laptop

My network printer (HP Officejet Pro L7590) goes "offline" from my HP Pavilion laptop often.  I have to uninstall it and reinstall it in order to print again.  It doesn't happen all of the time but about 90% of the time.
Documents will stay in queue but not print.  I can't uninstall it completely without deleting any documents in queue.  It's so frustrating!!
How do it get it back online without having to go through this? Do i need to reinstall a printer driver or update it?  How can I tell if I need to do that?

There are several updates on this page.  You did not state it but I assume you are using WIn7 64-bit.

  • Officejet pro L7590 always goes offline on my hp pavilion

My HP Pavilion notebook is "wirelessly hooked" to my wireless router (mororola).  my hp officejet pro L7590 is also physically tied to my wireless router (not using the printer wireless).  When i install the printer, my computer recognizes the printer on the network/wireless and allows me to install using the appropriate driver etc.  I can print fine for a little while.  If i turn off the computer or it goes to sleep, somehow, the printer goes "offline" and I'm unable to print.  I'm having to uninstall & re-install the printer each time this happens.  It's as if my computer is not recognizing that it's still communicating with a printer once it's gone to sleep or restarted.  Such a pain.
BTW - my home desktop computer (also hp) is hooked to the printer and never goes offline.  It probably doesn't have this issue b/c the desktop isn't having to connect wirelessly via the router.
    Advice??

  • HP Photosmart B110a constantly goes offline and won't print via USB either

    Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.8
    HP Photosmart B110
I've connected the printer to my wireless network without any issues, but when I first tried to connect my macbook pro to the printer, it would keep disappearing from the network. Once I finally managed to connect it, every time I go to print something now, it will always say it is offline. Even when I try and bypass the wireless connection and connect via USB, it will still say it is offline.
I've have tried reinstalling the printer and driver many times, and I've tried connecting 2 other macbooks via the wireless and all experience the same issue. It is starting to get incredibly frustrating having to reinstall the printer over and over again.
I would appreciate a solution that would prevent it from always going offline, even If I have to give up the wireless 'feature' and permanently print via USB. I do not have time to continuously fiddle with the settings every single time I need to print a document.

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • HP LaserJet m1212nf goes offline in control panel after PC (windows 7) restart

    Hello,
i have an issue that i couldn't find an answer on the internet.
We use HP LaserJet m1212nf multifunctional device in our company via networking. It has a static IP adress and the latest firmware. Also the software and drivers are the latest one. On Windows XP machines scanning and printing is working great, but also we have one PC with windows 7 pro 32bit edition. At first everything was fine, but from this monday the printer in control panel goes offline, so we can't print or scan for several days. Have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, upgrading, fixing software and drivers - nothing helped. Checked also HP servises - everything is running. Also no events found in windows event log.

Disable the firewalls or open ports on them?

  • Server goes offline at random

I'm using SBS 2008 mainly for running emails and as a data storage for financial and other database programs, so the data is stored on the server.
Unfortunately, for some reason, especially on one workstation (all windows 7 pro) if you stop entering data on the workstation for a short time to answer the phone or whatever, the server goes offline for that user (mainly) so any data on the screen
would have to be entered again. To get it to work again you have to go into windows explorer to tell it to "work online".
As mentioned, it appears to be random, and worse on one workstation.
Any suggestions how to stop this irritation?
    John French

sorry, it was posted in the wrong forum, my mistake, I thought I was in windows server.
but when it does go offline SharePoint is offline for the user as well.
I'll withdraw from this forum and attempt to post it properly.

    scarlattid3,
The cancel button should be located in the bottom right corner of the screen. The only thing is it's not going to show up until you start the print job or copy and then it should appear for you.

  • How do I stop my Blu-Ray burner from "sleeping" or going offline?

I recently installed a PIONEER BD-RW BDR-206 Blu-Ray burner in my Mac Pro.  After about an hour or so it apparently goes to sleep or does something where the computer does not recognize it anymore.  And I can't do anything to bring it back other than restart the computer.
This poses a significant problem when I use Compressor to burn Blu-Ray discs because Compressor might take 10 hours to process, then when it's done I lose everything because it can't burn the disc because the computer doesn't see the blu-ray burner anymore.
The only way I've found to get around this is to eject and then close the burner every hour or so.  That's a good band aid, but not acceptable.  Especially when I set to burn overnight or I leave the office for the day.
I've gone through System Settings and do not see anything pertaining to this, but I'd be happy to admit if I've overlooked something to fix this issue!
    Please offer any feedback,
    Thank you.
    Eric P

Thanks Dennis.   I believe I did try that option to no avail.  After talking with the techs where I got it (MacSales or MacWorld... don't remember off hand now) they said that that particular burner was known for this issue with Macs.  They work with Macs, but they have that problem of going offline even if all computer settings say to stay active.  I ultimately purchased a different brand burner and now it works no problem.
I also bought a casing for the old Pioneer so that I could still use it.
    Thanks,
    Eric
