HP 8600 pro officejet would feed and print cardstock. need and solution b4 i return it!
I have changed the settings and it still will not feed thru. When I pull out the try it the paper is lifed up and sittting on the edge but just did not get picked up. I need this to work, otherwise I'm taking it back.
HP has recently released a firmware update for the 8600 series printer. The firmware has several product fixes/enhancements. Below is the list:
1) Enhance ePrint Diagnostic report for ePrint Setup
2) Improve ease of wireless setup
3) Enhanced Embedded Web Services
4) Improve Print Quality
5) Improve Ink Usage
6) Improve paper path performance
7) Improve Digital scan performance
The firmware version is CLP1CN1304AR and was released 2013-03-21.
As mentioned in 6), the paper path performance has been improved and this was directed at printing with Cardstock/Photo Paper in the 8600.
There are 3 different versions of the 8600 and I will provide links below to the download page for this firmware update for each.
8600 Base (N911a or CM749a)
8600 Plus (CM750a or N911g)
8600 Premium (N911n or CN577a)

that the printer does color underprinting even when printing black and white, to prevent bleeding.
My question is, is this also true when selecting the grayscale printing option in the printer properties dialog box?
I installed the printer using an ethernet connection to a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop computer running Windows XP ProfessionalYes you will still need the color cartridge. The printer uses what is called under printing, it still uses some of the color cartridge's ink in this process, even when printing in just black, the reason is to stop the black from "bleeding"

HP Officejet 6600 won't print in black and white
So I have a HP Officejet 6600 which recently ran out of it's magenta cartridge. I knew I wouldn't be able to print in color, but when I went to the printer and set preferences to print black only it still tells me I need to replace the magenta cartridge before I can resume printing. This is extremely annoying because I start school monday and have syllabi and things I need to print out. Please don't tell me to order or go out and buy a magenta cartridge. I just need to know how to get this specific printer to work using only black ink when the color cartidges are depleted.
There are a few reasons color ink is used, even when printing black only: Some ink is used to keep the nozzles from drying out. When printing (even black only) the color printhead, attached to the same structure as the black printhead, is waving around in the air and the nozzles would clog if there were no servicing.When automatic duplex printing the front page typically has a thin underprint of color ink under the black to "set" the black ink. It is not intuitive, but this causes the black ink to dry faster, reducing the chances of smearing the ink as the page is pulled back into the printer to print the back side.Graphics are typically printed with a mixture of color ink rather than black. The color droplets are much smaller than the black droplets. The composite black (made from colors) gives visibly better grayscale graphics results. (For some drivers there is an option for printing in grayscale as "black ink only" or "High quality grayscale".) Printing in "Best" quality typically underprints balck with color to give a darker black.The pigmented black ink is not compatible with photo apper. If photo paper is detected or selected in the driver the printer will mix color ink to make black.Depending on the driver the option for "black ink only" may not be available when color ink will be needed, for example in the duplex printing case. See the document here for information on how ink is used in the printing process. In the language of that document the Officejet 6600 is an IIC printer. If you want a printer that can print with no color ink at all I would suggest something like a monochrome Laserjet, or an IPH printer such as the Deskjet 6980 or Officejet 8040a that would allow printing with the color cartridge removed compeltely.

I have a Laserjet Pro 400 color MFP M475dw printer that is contected to a network so that multiple users can print from it. I want to be able to restrict it so that they can only print in black and white and double sided. Is this possible? and if so could you please tell me how?
I am not able to restrict them on a print by print basis, hence I am looking for a solution where I only have to make the change once.
Thanks for your help!I understand you want to change a setting one time so that no matter who is sending the printer a print job it prints in gray scale. Actually I found two ways to do it. Here is the basic way to do it as described on page 16 of the User Guide. Also, you could set up this printer to receive emails (ePrint) in gray scale only. I just did a test after making changes in my ePrint settings at www.eprintcenter.com and no color was printed on a regular document containing color. I hope that answers your question. If not, let me know. I will be happy to explain greater detail.

I added Parallel software to my MacBook Pro 10.6.8.It was printing fine then asked me to connect usb. I was just choosing esc. I think I chose connect Windows. Now won't print some things. How do I get it to print all things on both sides? Thanks for your time
You need to connect your printer to your WiFi router wirelessly - maybe by using the printer's front panel (if it has one) or maybe by using a Windows (usually) PC connected to the printer with a USB cable.
Once that's done, you can disconnect the USB cable, and print wirelessly. From your description, I'm not sure you've done this required first step. -

Having said, each time when you select the date, you query the table would be expensive method. May be you can filter the date within your dataset already populated if you have entire data in the dataset. -

I close a Firefox browser and at a later time want to open a new browser window but get message "Firefox is still running and I need to shut down before I can open a new session" I do not want to shut down as this is laborious - I can go into task manager and processes and click on Firefox and end session that way but this is not the solution. Firefox seems to be running in background but I cannot open a new session window without doing on of the above.

I have recently purchased wedding invitations from Michaels. I was directed to download templates from www.gartnerstudios.com. Using my ipad and the app cloudOn, I was able to complete my templates. However, when trying to print , I am receiving an error message that reads:
Papersize mismatch
the paper size detected by the printer sensor does not match the paper size selected in software.
How would I go about changing the papersize and type ?

If you are using e-Print on your iPad, you should follow the steps below to change the papaer size and type:
From the preview screen beloew select the settings icon circled in red. The photo edit button circled in blue will allow you to resize, crop and rotate your photo.
Then select more options

How to find and print Apple Store and Easy Pay Receipts
I bought a non-Apple product at the Apple store using Easy Pay. After 4 months, the product was defective and I needed to print the receipt to send to the manufacturer. When I found the receipt on my Apple Store app, there was no option to print the receipt. I went to my Apple ID account in iTunes, but store purchases do not show up there, even though I use the same Apple ID for both. I ended up taking a few screen shots, but this was not ideal.
1. I would like to know if there is a way to print these Easy Pay receipts properly?
2. Is there an Apple web location where I can find all my purchases, including all hardware, apps, music, movies, etc., purchased using the same Apple ID but through various different methods, such as Easy Pay, in-store service, on-line, etc? I know when I go to the Apple store the employees can pull up my entire hardware purchase history, but I can't seem to do this on my own.1 - having lots of photos will not slow your Mac down
2 - there are many things that will including lack of hard drive space. How much free space do you have on yoru hard drive?
3 - duplicates and some triplicates of photos often means that you have imported an iPhoto libraruy into another iPhoto library - you never do that - it does not work and creates a mess
4 - the best, easiest and safeest way to detect and delete duplicates is to use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -

Airport Extreme and Printing : is there a solution
HI all,
I have gone through many topics on printing with airport extreme and I have seen a lot of people like me having the same problem : the printer plugged to the usb port of the Airport Extreme is visible but can not print.
People tried to change firmware, plug unplug the printer, etc... But it seems that there is no solution
Is there really any solution ?
It is the first time I see an Apple Product which such problems ... Is there anyone from Apple who can answer this problem ?

I changed the USB Cable, and now it works perfectly.(souns so simple ... but it worked) (it is strange, because I was able to print through usb with my old cable ..)
