Hp 8600 scan software issue

I installed the recent security update to OSX and also installed a firmware update a couple of weeks ago to the HP 8600 Officejet Pro all-in-ine printer, scanner, fax machine.  Now the scan software does not work.  Any suggestions?

Similar problem.  I reinstall the software and it works for a single job then everything else fails.  The HP diagnostic print form within the HP however.
Ideas anyone?
Is there a way to contact HP other than for $100?  The web site community is not much help it seems.

  • HP Scan Software Issue

For some reason, after I have scanned the first page of a multiple page document, I am no longer able to click the box to have subsequent pages scanned. I made no changes to the software and have run the HP doctor software and it finds no problems with the scanning software.
Has anyone else experienced this that can tell me how to correct this issue?
    Thanks!

It is strange. Well I would uninstall and re-install the SW. As i believe there is no setting which will disable or enable the button

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus - Scan software doesn't have 8.5x11 letter size option

Just bought a new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
The included HP Scan software will only let me choose A4 or A5 paper sizes (as well as 6x4, 7x5, 8x6, 10x8).  No 8.5x11 option, which is what I want to use most often.  (this is from the dropdown options after clicking the "Scan..." button)
Is there something I'm missing?  I'm generally pretty good at figuring this stuff out, but I haven't even seen this issue mentioned on forums, so I'm confused.
Also, when using the Scan To Computer function directly from the printer, I get the same result - it will scan my 8.5x11 document and output an A4 size file.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  I have installed all software and firmware updates I could find.  I have my printer's region set to Canada, and bought the machine from a Staples in Canada.  Wondering why I can't use any North American size formats?

@Simple1234 - I have reinstalled the software from HP's website, and no change. (it's actually the same version that came on the installation CD - 12.23).
@Sethaniel - I have definitely tried every combination of settings in those drop down lists, so that's not it.
Ruling out OS issues, my girlfriend is running 10.8, and the HP software is doing the same thing on her computer.
Using the System Preferences scanning method, I can choose paper sizes if set to scan from document feeder.  If I change to flatbed, I have the option to manually type in the dimensions I want, but then I'm forced to manually drag the crop area to which 8.5x11 portion of the flatbed it will scan.  Again, there's no way to just have the flatbed scan a letter size document automatically when placing the page at the top corner of the flatbed, where it shows you to place the page for letter size.
This seems like the most basic function of a scanner!  I'm really perplexed by this.  I would imagine most people in north america would just want to place an 8.5x11 sheet of paper on the flatbed and have an easy way to scan the correct size with no added fuss.
Printing works fine, and I can choose letter size, and many adjustable settings, so I think this is just a problem with HP's scanning software.  I have tried all the usual basic steps, like restarting my computer & the printer, reinstalling software, running software update, looking through all the settings in the HP Scan software, any global settings I could change in System Preferences, tried using a different computer and OS X version, googling the issue, and posting on this forum.
    Any other ideas?

  • Will the 8600 scan and save as PDF legal size documents?

Will the 8600 scan and save as PDF legal size documents?

Hey there @jadoue , welcome to the forums!
Yes, you can scan a PDF as legal size and save it. Check out the screen shot I posted below as an example of what you are looking for in the printer software that is installed on your computer.

  • HP Scan software - document or photo

In HP Scan software there is a drop down for Item Type, with 2 selections, Document and Photo.  What does that drop down control/mean?
Using an HP Officejet 8600+ N911g
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The Document or Photo types are just default settings for the two common types of scans, If you are setting the scan resolution, and format to save the file, you are overriding the default settings, so the "Document" or "Photo" setting is irrelevent. Unless you are scanning as document, at 2400dpi, and then in word (or whatever app with the scanned result), and do a save as, in that case, the app is doing the conversion, which usually would end up having a different size. So which way is it?
I don't understand what do you mean by "lose 28%", do you mean it looks smaller on display? or photoviewer cropped the result after rotate? Did both scan have to be rotated or just one of them?

  • HP LaserJet 3380 Scanning Software for Win 7

    Hi,
I own two HP LaserJet 3380 Devices, one is connected to a machine that runs Win XP, the other to a Win 7 computer. On the Win XP, I am using a scanning software, that is super fast and works excellently. I have a shortcut on my desktop on which I can click and then, the device starts scanning to desktop immediately with presaved settings. On the Win 7 however, I am forced to use the default Win 7 user interface which is slow, requires multiple clicks and saves files to a separate folder called something like Imported pictures that is automatically created on the desktop. Is there some way I can create such shortcut as I know it from Win XP (one doubleclick - scanning with saved settings and saved location begins) or is there any original HP SW which can co such things? From the provided product info on your website I understand, I must use what Win 7 offers. And that, to be perfectly honest, sucks. Thank You for Your help.

  • Laserjet pro 400 mfp m425dn scan software

I have a LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M425dn all-in-one device.  I have it connected via USB.  It works as a printer.  I cannot get any of the scan software to recognize that I even have a scanner.
    I have Windows 8.0 (junk).
I have installed HP Scan and Capture software.  I have installed the drivers - I had to go do devices and put the CD in the drive and search for driver there.
How do I get the software, HP Scan and Capture,  to recognize the scanner?  I can print fine, I need to scan, too.

    Hello Sardonnic_Pizza,
I understand your concerns. Unfortunately, for this type of printer, I need to direct you to our Enterprise Business Community Forums. This will be the right section to troubleshoot this issue.

  • Scanning software to work with CS6 and Mountain Lion

Since I upgrading my Mac to OS Mountain Lion 10.8 and downloaded Adobe CS 6 I have been unable to get my Epson Scanner to work properly. Since none of the drivers from the Epson and Adobe websites have worked so that I could scan from photoshop, I am looking into using third party software. Adobe mentioned VueScan in their instructions, but it is expensive and I don't like how it is laid out. It appears that SilverFast only works with 32 bit not the 64 required in CS6.
Has anyone else found scanning software that worked for them?
Or does anyone have an idea of getting the Epson software to work on my machine?
The scanner is an Epson Perfection v600 photo scanner, which is still being sold currently as something that works with new computers.

I have a scanner. I am trying to get a driver or new scanner software to work with it. Someone in a different discussion pointed out an article in MacWorld that goes into why this is not working.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1168305/get_your_scanner_to_work_with_photoshop_cs6.html
I would still be interested to know if anyone has had a positive experience with third party scanning sofware. Vue scan? Silverfast?
Also to the Adobe staff :
This is quoted from the MacWorld article.
Right now, if users are running Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8), they will not be able to scan into Photoshop CS6 as described. According to Adobe, this is an across-the-board problem with the Cocoa classes comprising the scanning interface that it is using in Photoshop. It is neither a user nor a scanner manufacturer issue.
Adobe is aware of the problem, has identified it as an Apple OS issue that they are working with Apple to solve, and offer no time frame for when it will be fixed. "
Any idea on the timeframe or if there will be an anouncement when this is resolved?

  • Scanning Software With Advanced Features

I am looking for a scanning software package that has more advanced features compared to the scanning software package included with my all in one.  I have looked for a more advanced scanning software package on the software CD included with the all in one as well as on the HP web site and have not found anything.
Does HP make a more advanced scanning software package than the one inclulded with the all in one?  I am thinking of a program that is similar to VueScan from Hamrick Software.  I might just have to shell out the money if HP does not make a nicer scanning program.
    Thanks.

    Hello @jerryheilman,
Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are interested in a Scanning program that offers more options then what is available with the HP Software that was included with your HP Officejet Pro 8610. Unfortunately HP does not have anything like that available.
I was able to Google 3rd party Scanning software and there were many options, I guess it depends on what it is you are interested in doing.

  • New OS, new scanning software, and Photoshop 7

I now have a new computer running Windows 7 (64-bit). My Photoshop 7 still works, as does my Arcus II scanner. However, Fotolook 3.6 doesn't, and I am now experimenting with VueScan.
Photoshop 7 has 8-bit and 16-bit options in the Image -> Mode section. In the past I have scanned and edited in 16-bit.  With VueScan, no matter what scanning mode I choose, the file opens in Photoshop 7 as an 8-bit file. I can change the file to 16-bit, and it behaves as an actual 16-bit file. (i.e. layers are not available etc)
    My questions are:
When I change a file to 16-bit, is this interpolated data?
Has anyone been able to get Fotolook 3.6 to work with Windows 7 (64-bit)?
Is there any other scanning software that will work with my old Arcus II scanner?
Why doesn't a file scanned with VueScan at 16-bit Gray open in Photoshop 7 as a 16-bit file? (I have scanned using both VueScan directly and the twain module within Photoshop)
What changes do I need to make when scanning and editing under these circumstances?
    Thanks ..............

Switching to 16bit merely expands the available range and thus precision for any successive operation on the image, it doesn't interpolate or reduce anything. Can't answer any of your other questions because a quick search turned up empty, meaning the thing is really, really old and these are probably compatibility issues you cannot work around and should be glad anything works at all.

  • Scanning software for OJ8610 is less than stellar.

The problem is I have extremely limited control over the scan using the 8610 software. I have had a chat - installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, (both 64 and 32 bit versions) - nothing is resolving the issue. The chat has been "escalated" and I will be contacted in 24-48 hours - I'm not that patient.
Bottom line: is the cheesy scanning software really the only thing available these days? If so, Where can I find software comparable to what was available with OJ6310?

    Hi ImNotLisaTX,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are looking for scanning software with your HP Officejet 8610, and I am happy to help you!
Please see this drivers website, HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers, as this is the only scanning software available for your printer. Please make sure you are downloading the Full Feature Software and Drivers, for your Operating System. If you do not know what Operating System you are using please visit this website. Whatsmyos

  • HP Officejet 4635 Scan Software says Device Not Found

I just successfully installed my new HP Officejet 4635 and can operate it wirelessly.  I am able to print and I can scan if I use the buttons on the device itself to tell it to scan.  However, when I try to load the HP software, it says "Device Not Found".  I tried using the HP Scan and Print Doc and it says everything is fine, but I still cannot load the HP Scan software.  I need to be able to scan multiple pages into one file, and I cannot do this by using the control panel that is on the device itself.  Anyone else have this problem?

Hello lookinforhelp, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a couple of HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information we can provide you with accurate information.
Which Windows operating system am I running?

  • Photosmart 3110 scanning software on Windows 8.1

hiya.  I can get the printer side of it working but I'm unable to install the scanning software for this device. I've tried running it in compatibility mode to no avail.  Is there some way of getting it working otherwise I can't use it as a scanner?

Hello @noisemonkey , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into scan issues.  I would like to help!
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then recommend downloading and running the scan portion of the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • I have lost my Silverfast scanning software since downloading Lion. Lion is proving a nightmare - particularly as I was originally told it would work with Silverfast. I also cannot use my Epson 2100 printer. Not a very pro ufgrade Apple. Anyone help?

Can not use Silverfast scanning technology or my Epson 2100 Colour Stylus printer since upgrading to Mac OS X Lion. I had been assured that Silverfast would work and had no idea the printer would become redundent! Not Good information from Apple!! Anyone out there help?

    Hi, Peter;
    The culprit is Silverfast.
The company went as far as telling owners and new customers back in March that their software would work with Lion ("buy Silverfast version 6.6 now, and get a free upgrade to Version 8 when it we release it in late August!").  Days after Lion came out, the German software maker issued a statement that their current version is NOT compatible with Lion (knocking all of their Mac customers out of the scanning business until the newer, functional Silverfast version is ready.)
On the company's owners-only discussion groups, Mac customers have expressed outrage that manufacturer Lasersoft was not clearer on this meltdown in the making.  Users have either had to re-install Snow Leopard, stop scanning for the next several weeks, or buy, install and learn different scanning software.
Lasersoft has even "re-written history"; pulling earlier press coverage (which claimed their software would work with Lion) and "clarifying" that the Version 8 software (which they say will work with Lion) will be available for purchase sometime next month.  The moderator has actually censored or deleted entries offering the name of rival VueSoft (which is Lion compatible), and has removed posts from dissatisfied customers.
Lasersoft discussion groups are amusingly Orwellian right now, with counter accusations hurled at customers who are just trying to get their software to work. Company spokesmen are issuing clumsily-worded taunts instead of apologies or simple damage control language.  UPDATE: the company has now removed some of their own more uncaring responses to users, but there is still some funny reading there.
The whole episode begs the question of what Lasersoft was doing between spring and fall of this year when they should have been preparing a more seamless transition to Lion.  New customers who purchased the pricey Silverfast software in March are doubly out of luck-- the “free upgrade”  to Lion-compatible version 8 only applies to purchases made after June first.
