HP 8610 touchscreen

I have a new HP 8610 all in one, I am unable to select the "copy" or "Fax" options from the touchscreen.  I can see the options on the touchscreen and they appear to be the same as the "scan" options but they just are not activated for me to choose the options.
Other than that the printer seems to be working properly from several different devices including three laptops and a few tablets.

Hello dunnsrun1,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the touchsceen not letting you select copy or fax.
I have seen this issue in the past and I was able to get it resolve by simply plugging the power cable directly to a wall outlet.
Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
When the printer powers back on, please do a proper power cycle by shutting the unit down with the use of the ON/OFF button.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,

  • HP8610 Touchscreen Won't Respond - Wireless Light is On

The touchscreen on my 8610 is frozen.  Discovered this when I tried to make a photocopy and the icon on the touchscreen wouldn't respond.  I can still print wirelessly from my Macbook with no problem.  The blue wireless light on the printer is on.  I've been printing wirelessly, scanning, and copying for 6-months with no issue.  Any help is appreciated.

Makes no difference.  I unpluygged the printer, let it sit for 10+ minutes,  plugged it directly into a wall socket, then turned it off/on using the power button on the printer.  Still the same ... the wireless light is on, the touchscreen won't respond, but I can still print wirelessly from my computer.

  • Can not copy 8610

My 8610 printer prints from the computer command, but the touchscreen is completely dark ( no lights showing).
So I can not give it a command to copy or else. Also I can not turn the printer off.
    Any suggestions. Thank you.

    Hey there @achim78!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I would be happy to provide some suggestions regarding the blank screen and power issue on your Officejet 8610.  The first thing I suggest is to plug the printer into the wall outlet directly if it is currently in a power surge protector or extension cord. This may sound silly but this will ensure the printer is getting full power and may eliminate any unnecessary troubleshooting. If the printer is no longer getting full power from the power surge or extension cord it may give false errors, have poor connection, paper feed issues and quality issues.
It is possible the printer requires a firmware update.  I was able to locate a firmware update on the HP website.  Firmware is like the operating system or programming in the printer.  If the printer requires a firmware update it may not work correctly.  When installing a firmware update to the printer it is recommended that the printer is connected with a USB cable.  Once the update is complete then you can remove the USB cable.
If you are still experiencing the issue I recommend taking a look at this document regarding The HP Printer Does Not Turn On or Respond When the Power Button is Pressed.
Pleas post back and let me know how everything works out!

  • Officejet 8610 printer error

printer 8610 says printer error with blue light flashing telling me to turn the printer off then on....i do that and it is fine for a short time and does it again....i have even unplugged it and turned it back on and it will still do it after a short time

    Hey @jewels2,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum. I hope you enjoy your experience here.
I understand you're encountering a recurring error status with your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer.  I would like to assist you with this.
Are you able to interface with the printer's touch screen at all, ie. - is it responsive to your touch so that you can access your printer's menus?  I have a couple suggestions that might help.
If you're able to use the printer's touchscreen still, try restoring its factory defaults*:
*Note that completing this step will reset your printer's wireless configuration, ePrint address, and other customized printer settings.  If you have created a custom @hpeprint.com address it will be permanently erased.  For more information on custom ePrint addresses, click here.
    From your printer's front panel:
    Touch Setup
    Touch Tools
    Touch Restore Factory Defaults
When you complete this reset you'll need to re-establish your wireless connection (if you're a wireless user) and re-establish your webservices connection if you're an ePrint, Printables, or scan to email user.  To do so, simply touch the  icon, enable webservices and touch OK to allow for automatic printer updates.
Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If these tips fall short I can private message you the steps to complete a semi full reset if need be.  If I have helped you resolve the issue and you liked this post, feel free to give me virtual props by clicking on the 'Thumbs Up' icon below.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 Add Printer issue on Mac

I purchased the HP Officejet Pro 8610 and cannot get it successfully set up on my MacBook Pro (operating OS X 10.7.5).  During the "Add Printer" phase, I receive the following error message:  "The software for this printer is currently unavailable.  Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software".
I've downloaded and completed the steps up to this point by using the link from install CD (HP-Officejet-Pro-8610_v12.32.0.dmg) and by downloading after unsuccessfully troubleshooting from the HP webite (HP-Officejet-Pro_8610_12.32.0-2.dmg).
Can you please assist in determing what my next step should be?

    Hi,
First reboot your Mac, then click the Apple icon and select Software Update.
From the listed app store click the Store menu and then on Repload Page.
Be sure to install any listed HP or Apple update.
Once you are done, open Print & Scan and try adding the printer again.
    May you see any difference?

  • Iphone 5s ios 7.01 - touchscreen typing

After the ios 7.01/7.02 update on my new iPhone 5s I am seeing typing issues.
If the phone is in portrait mode and I hit any of the keys on the 2nd row from the bottom ("up arrow', z, x, c, v, b, n, m, "backspace") the keys under them will be pressed as well. So if i hit the "v" it will insert a space and the letter "v". If i hit "x" it will insert "x" and initiate voice control.
As you can imagine this can be very frustrating. This only occurs with the 2nd row from the bottom.
When I flip the phone to landscape mode I do NOT experience the issue.  I can even hit the key at the bottom and it will work correctly in portrait mode.
When I initially activated the phone this was NOT an issue. Only change has been the update to 7.01 and then to 7.02.
I have cleaned the touchscreen, do not have a screen protector, nor have I ever used a case with the phone.

Scheduled an appointment with a genius at the apple store.
My phone was replaced with a new one since they did not have any of the new (5s) screens on hand.
One item I would like to mention is that I don't understand the need to set up an appointment to see a genius. I was at the store on time waiting to talk to a genius. One of the employees even asked if I was. I got up to the genius bar and they directed me to check in with someone else. Really? So I had to go to random person in the blue shirt, who was just standing in the middle of the store to check in. Nothing at the store indicated I had to check in, silly me for thinking that an appointment meant I could just talk to someone. Not sure if it was just the way this store runs, or how all stores run but they should improve.
I finally got to talk to a genius, the problem with my phone was clearly evident. They then had a technician look at my phone, again they had no problem reproducing the issue. I was handed a new phone and told to restore using my backup. New phone is working well.

  • Omni 10 touchscreen does not work

    I have a 4 month old OMNI 10 5600US, S/N [edited by Moderator]
The touchcsreen fails to start when I turn on the tablet.  Since this is a tablet, I am perty much dead in the water.
How do i go about getting this fixed?

@george-p: Are you serious? This is just a bad joke, isn't?! Instead of helping a user to troubleshoot his problems and fix them, all you do is to quote the forum rules while completely ignoring the question itself. Great support you guys from HP doing there, just as I experienced also in the past. That's why I am done with this company's products!
@joe: you sure the touchscreen stopped working or the device maybe locked up after start? Try connecting a mouse and keyboard via USB hub and a USB OTG cable. If this works you can try to refresh windows without loosing your data.

  • Regression in 3.19-2 from 3.18-6 -- Venue 11 Pro touchscreen broken

    Hi folks,
Not sure if this is the best place to report it, but I've been using a Venue 11 Pro with the mobile keyboard attachment (adds a laptop-style hinge with a keyboard + touchpad + second battery), which works astoundingly well in Arch with Gnome 3 (multitouch works, three-finger middle click on the touchpad works, the removable battery works, seemingly everything works except detecting the front webcam rather than just the back one), but as of 3.19, the touchscreen no longer comes up under xinput list. I've gone back to 3.18-6 for now.

  • Touchscreen not working on fresh Windows 8.1 install

I just bought a Pavilion 11-n040nb x360 and I'm planning to buy a few more for work, but I have a problem I wasn't able to fix so far.
On the OEM Operating System the touchscreen was working without a problem. I then installed an SSD-drive and created a new partition with a clean Windows 8.1 install. From the first startup the touchscreen isn't recognized by Windows.
The touchscreen itself is still working in BIOS/UEFI-setup and the diagnostic tool proves there's nothing wrong with the hardware itself.
I found a lot of posts from people with the same problem and tried really every tip, a lot of different drivers and software, but still can't get it to work.
    More usefull info:
    - HD Graphics 10.18.10.3366 driver installed and in use
    - Synaptics 18.0.4.81 driver installed and in use
    - Windows is up to date (no recommended or optional updates available)
    - Windows system screen shows the message 'pen or touch input is not available for this display'
    - No unknown devices in Windows device management (all drivers installed)
    - Looks a bit weird to me: in device management, next to the Synaptics PS/2 Port Clickpad, there is another device called "HID-mouse" with hardware ID HID\VID_0461&PID_4DF1&REV_0300&Col01 but I can't find any other drivers for it than the default Windows-driver, I'm thinking this might be the touchscreen hardware?
Any help on how I can get the touchscreen working on this clean Win 8.1 Pro install?!

    @Dennichio ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forum.  What may have happened with your install is that the chipset driver may not have been loaded first causing issues with the touchscreen driver.
Here is the link for your systems supported drivers.
HP Pavilion 11-n040nb x360 PC (ENERGY STAR) Drivers.
Once you have downloaded all your software and drivers for your notebook you will want to boot into safe mode and uninstall your drivers.
    Windows 8 Safe Mode
You may have to reboot between each uninstall.
once this is done then you will have to boot back into windows normally.
Now install your drivers again this time make sure you install the chipset drivers before anything ellse.
Please let me know how this goes for you.
Thank you again for posting and have a great day.

    I am running 64bit Windows 8.1

    - Downloading the software direct from HP website
    - Updating the firmware using OJP8610_R1416A.exe
-Changing the port to the network port (in this case it is 192.168.0.200, it responds to a ping, also set the printer to have a static ip)
This is the error message that i get when i try to print a test page when i choose printer properties in the control panel
"test page failed to print. would you like to view the printer troubleshooter for assistance"

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8610 won't scan to imac system 10.10.1

I can get the printer to scan from my computer, but not post it on the desktop. It say the function is disabled and contact set up person or administrator. My son set it up and is not available. I will be the administrator. How do I enable the function.  Hp Officejet pro 8610. I'm on a IMAC operating system 10.10.1

    Hello @Annpaints,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are unable to scan with your Mac running the Yosemite 10.10 Operating system to your HP Officejet Pro 8610, when you attempt to scan to the Mac you are given the error that it needs to be enabled. Please go ahead and start below:
Click the Finder tab, and then click Go.
Click the Utilities tab, and then click the HP Utilities icon.
Click Scan Settings, and then select the Enable Scan to Computer box.
Are you now able to Scan to the Mac? I was able to find this helpful information here: Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite

  • The touchscreen of my HP Touchsmart IQ532NL is not working at startup.

Hi, I have a strange problem. When I start my PC (Touchsmart IQ532NL, Windows 7), the touchscreen is not working. It even does not make the beep sound when I touch the screen. After a while (10 minutes or so), the touch input suddenly starts working. And then it works flawlessly. This happens every time when I start up the PC for the first time on the day. When touch input finally has started working, it also works after reboot. As if it has to be warmed up...
My PC dates from may 2009, it was originally delivered with Vista and Windows 7 upgrade. The touchscreen used to work fine for two years, it seems this problem has occured since I have recently restored the system to factory-settings and re-installed Windows 7 update. I have even restored it  again last week to see if this would help, but it didn't.  The problem occurs also in Vista, before installing the Windows 7 upgrade.
I have tried everything, including cleaning the screen, run Bios-update, run all necessary Windows updates etc. I have called HP assistance, they are not familiar with this problem. Who is?

  • Officejet 8610 Will Not Print Wirelessly

I have a new 8610 and new computer with Windows 8.1.  The printer is generally turned off and on another floor of the house from where my computer is.  In the past, I could send a job to print, go downstairs, turn on the computer and the jobs would print.  This is not the case with the new equipment.  I see the documents in queue on the computer but they do not print when I turn on the printer.
I specifically remember putting in the password for the wireless router when setting up the printer.  What can I do?

Hi @marygme , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're running into connectivity issues.  I would like to help!
I would recommend performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend this document on Wireless printing center Troubleshooting Issues.

  • How to connect HP Officejet Pro 8610 to a Laptop that's not connect to the internet

Just bought the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all-in-one for the local Historical Society. Neither the laptop nor the printer will be connected to the Internet. The printer will only be used for printing reports, scanning images, etc.
I have just removed the instruction manual to familiarize myself with the connecting procedure but I notice there are several references that require internet access.
Is there a work-around that allows me to install/connect the printer without requiring access to the internet?

    Hi,
How many computer will be using the printer ? If only one the USB (you may have to buy a cable) is the way to go. You can also use wireless direct to print but this is not reliable:

  • My touchscreen is not working. Please help!

I purchased an All In One a couple of days ago and everything seemed to be working fine but just last night the touchscreen feature isnt working. I've searched around for solutions to this issue but i havent had any luck. I'm assuming that somehow I disabled this feature and there should be a way to restore it.

I just noticed that in the control panel under 'system' it says that there is no pen or touch input available for this display. Is it possible that i somehow deleted this input option or could it just be faulty?
