HP 8620 Touch Screen Unresponsive - Firmware Software Bug?

Hello, I have the latest "firmware update" on the HP 8620. Can someone please confirm this bug? I don't know if it is just for the HP 8620 or if it applies to all HP touchscreens. Basically if you go into any setting option, then hit the "home" icon and right after you swipe either left or right, it ends up rendering your touch screen unresponsive to swiping left or right. Is this bug already a known issue? The only way to correct the touchscreen so it is responsive again is hit the question mark, or an icon on the bottom and hit the home button (without swiping left/right right after the home button).

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that you're experiencing issues with your touchscreen on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I will certainly do my best to help you. Please confirm you have the latest Firmware Version: FDP1CN1502AR. If you do not, please go to HP's download page by clicking here. As far as I know, this is not a known issue with the printer or with the printer's Firmware Update. This could be a glitch in the touchscreen, which a Reset should resolve. Let's start by performing a Hard Reset.Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds. Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power bar or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. If you're still experiencing issues, we may need to perform a Semi-Full Reset. I can send you that information in a private message. In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck!

  • IPad 4 touch screen unresponsive

Touch screen unresponsive, cannot unlock device. Replaced touch screen, now I get nothing from LCD display. Triple checked ribbon connectors. Where should I begin looking for solutions: battery, logic board, LCD display? Tries to connect to iTunes, but without display working, I cannot enter passcode.

I'm sorry, but if you took your own device apart there's nothing anyone here can do to help you. Your issues are a level of technical support that's beyond what's covered here.
Maybe an unofficial forum would serve your needs better.

  • Iphone4 touch screen unresponsive intemittently

    Hi,
I got new iphone4 on Sep 20th in Singapore. Currently i am in India.
The phone was working fine till Sunday( 7th Nov). Suddenly the touch screen has become unresponsive and the time is set to some other time then time i set on device.
The strange thing is that it starts working for 5 mins every 30 mins or so and again stops working. When it is working all areas of the screen are working normally and applications are working well. After a few minutes it again freezes.
The phone was kept well and till now it hasn't got any jerks and never fallen off or so. I tried restoring the firmware but it didn't help.Since i didn't damage the device and sometimes it is working fine i suspect it to be a software issue. If anyone has faced this issue please share your experience and help me to fix it.
    Thanks,

I've had a similar problem for several months. Sometimes when I receive a call I can't hang up with the touch screen. I either wait until the other end hangs up or I hit the power button.
When I get back, I can't do much of anything. App icons will look like I'm pushing them but they don't do anything. I can fix it by holding the power button, shutting off and restarting.
Today I tried waiting. After about 5 minutes things started working. It's like the phone is too busy to respond until it unwinds whatever it's doing. I haven't tried restoring and reloading everything yet.

  • IPhone 3G touch screen unresponsive

Hi, so my iPhone 3G has been working greets until this evening when the row of icons above the dock wouldn't respond to my touches. The area is completely un responsive in the home screen but when i go to the notes key board only the J and N won't respond. Additionally in my settings menu i cant click on anything in that same area but when i go into photos or calendar the area is responsive. I tried apples touch screen diagnostic by going into the calculator and found that 4,5,6 and + are partially unresponsive. I'm not sure if this is a software or hardware issue so any input would be great.

Have you tried the basics from the manual?
    Restart.
    Reset.
    Restore.

  • Z3 touch screen unresponsive

Hi, I'm having issues with my Z3 touch screen becoming unresponsive when using any sort of screen protector.
I have a Z3 compact with an Ultimate Shield tempered glass screen protector that works perfectly.
I have the same brand protector on my Z3 and it is infuriating to use as some touches go completely unregistered. I'm on my third tempered glass protector all of which have given the same issue.
Plastic film protectors dull the response less but I hate them. Is anybody else out there having a similar issue? Is it likely to be fixable by a software update?
    Cheers,
    Ben

Well, I've tried 2 different brands now (nillkin & ultimate shield) and both had the same issues. I'm reluctant to throw any more money at screen protectors as clearly something is not quite right.
I've been a fan of ultimate shield protectors up to now as I've had them on my previous 2 phones without issue.
Anybody had similar issues and found a brand that works properly?
    Thanks & merry Christmas

  • Touch Screen unresponsive after iOS 8 update

My 1 year old 64GB iPhone 5 touch screen started to become unresponsive after iOS 8 update
It's not consistent. Touch screen functionality will seize whilst phone is being used for either answering calls, typing messges, surfing, gaming etc and won't become responsive until it is turned off and on again (via power button). Home button is functioning with no problems.
As the phone is now out of its warranty period I want to verify if it's the OS that's causing this or do I actually have a hardware issue.

I have the same issue. iPhone 5, 1 year-old, not even a scratch.
Sometimes my touch screen works, sometimes not. When it works, it is just for some seconds, then some phantom touches start to happen all over the screen, but specially, when i'm typing, it types z or m, when I try to type something in, and it receives it, it will act as z or m again....
If I switch off my screen and switch on again... sometimes it will work, sometimes it wont... veeery unstable.
I considered downgrading to 7.1.2 but since I heard it is ilegal I decided to wait for a new iOS release.... any suggestions? (already wiped it and the issue continued...)
Is it really not recommended to downgrade it and have my phone funcionalities back?

  • Touch screen unresponsive while charging

The touch screen on my iPod touch 5 can be sluggish or unresponsive. I've isolated the problem to when I've got it plugged in to charge and the charge is complete but I've not unplugged it. I'm using apple charge cord. Has anyone else had this problem? Obviously when the problem occurs now, I unplugged the iPod. Just wondering if it points to some larger problem I need to have Apple look into.

Other users have reported the same problem and I made the following suggestions but they nevery posted back:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Droid 3 touch screen unresponsive

I was wondering if there is an alternate way of removing an app other than using the android market. My droid 3's touch screen is unresponsive and I know that the app Go Locker is causing the problem.

  • PRS-T1 rapid page turns / touch screen unresponsive

I'm having problem with my new PRS-T1.
At least once a day, when using the touch screen swipe to turn pages, the pages will start turning very rapidly and does not stop. The only way to stop it is to go back to the home screen by using the button. From this point, the touch screen is unresponsive, but the hardware buttons work correctly.
After a few minutes, touch screen starts working again normally again.
If I use just the page turn buttons instead of swipe gesture to turn pages, this problem never happens. Using swipe it happens often, but not easily reproducible so not sure what is causing it.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum.
If the Reader is consistently unresponsive or oversensitive with a variety of books and you have reset the Reader to no effect it may need service. Give Sony product support a call and they can arrange this for you:

  • IOS 8.1.3 - iPhone 6 touch screen unresponsive

I updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1.3 last night. Seemed to work fine last night and early this morning.
Now my touch screen is unresponsive. I can swipe up to reveal Control Center and swipe down to reveal Notifications - but can't interact with them.
I can't shut off my phone (can't swipe across after holding down the Sleep/Wake button). Is it worth doing a hard reset? Anybody else having this problem with an iPhone 6?

I did a hard reset. Seems to be working...for now...

  • IOS 7 making touch screen unresponsive

Since updating to iOS 7 my iPhone 5 touch screen has become intermittently unresponsive. It was fine and normal in iOS 6 and was refurbished less than a month ago (my lock screen wasn't working and I got the phone replaced). How do i solve this problem? The phone will often times not respond to any sort of touch making swiping, typing, and holding something down impossible. It has been like this since updating to iOS 7 when it came out more than a week ago.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
    - Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear.  (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
    - Relaunch the App and try again.
    - Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    - Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
    - Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
    - Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
    - Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
    - Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

  • Upper right hand corner of iPhone 4 touch screen unresponsive - Is there anyway to turn on cellular data?

A small portion (upper right hand corner) of my iPhone 4's touch screen is unresponsive. Now, I cannot change some of the settings since it won't respond. I am on an out of the country trip and I really need to turn on Cellular data.
Is there anyway I can change the phone settings from my macbook? Or maybe rotate the settings page so that it would show as landscape and I can turn on cellular data since the other areas of the touchscreen is working.
    Thank you very much!

    Here's my suggestion:
On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Cellular (where you would turn on cellular data if you could).
You can actually scroll that menu down a bit so the "Cellular Data" button is not necessarily in the far upper right corner of the screen.  Hopefully you can scroll it down far enough that you can successfully set it.

  • IPod Touch screen unresponsive

Okay, so my iPod Touch has become increasingly messed up over the last week and I was curious if I may be screwed here: it started with just that simple problem where the volume changes on its own, so I did a restart and it seemed to work fine for a few days except response time for loading songs/apps seemed slower and slower.
Then, the volume problem was back but the volume buttons wouldn't work and the screen constantly had the volume display and "headphones" on it. iTunes told me it was not able to read it or sync. Restarts didn't work, so I restored it to factory settings and it again seemed to work fine.
A few days later, the same problems came back, so I tried to restore it again--one problem, though: after restoring and going into the iPod menu to do set up, I found the entire touchscreen does not respond. From what I've seen Googling and on here, water/moisture damage is what's possibly effecting it, so I tried the "rice trick" (something that worked for a phone before) but after four days it's still unresponsive and at the "slide to unlock" screen.
Am I out of hope here? If I take it to an Apple Store to get it repaired, what's the expected cost for something like that?

Apple does not repair your iPod. They will exchange it for a refurbished one for this price.

  • 5th Generation 16gb IPod Touch screen unresponsive

I have a 5th Generation 16gb IPod touch and the screen became unresponsive just today. Just a couple minute after using it just fine, the screen became unresponsive to anything, not swiping, tapping, sliding... nothing. The screen turns on and off, and the Sleep/Wake button works. So does the home screeen. But i cant swipe to unlock it or swipe to turn it off.i did not drop it, get it wet, press to hard on it, i was holding it and taking a picture. then pressed the Sleep/Wake button and then turned it on a couple minutes later and the screen was unresponsive. I dont have any money to get a new one, and i dont have the warranty for it. i propbobly might take it to the apple store to get it checked out. one of my friends said that it has three layers a light layer and other one. she said the light layer got unwired or something and the apple store got it fixed. I cannot pay too much for it and definately will be getting a screenprotecter and cas e for it IFF it gets fixed. my other ipod had a similar problem, and i cant offord to lose another one.
Any help would be VERY appreaciated

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Section Of Touch Screen Unresponsive

Hello, I bought an Ipod touch 8GB and when lately I have noticed that there is about a 5 cm section that goes across the middle of the screen that is unresponsive to touch.
This is really a problem because there are a lot of important buttons in that unresponsive section of the screen such as the G and V buttons on the keyboard when I have the Ipod sideways and the play and pause button doesn't work for youtube and when I watch videos. My question is has anyone else had this issue and is there a solution? I'd really rather not buy a new one, but I'm willing to erase all data just to fix this issue. Thanks.

I read a while back were the iPhone had sensitivity issues with there displays, in the first generation of iPhones, and that all of the affected iPhones had to be recalled and replaced.
You should contact your local Apple store or call Apple support and get the iPT replaced, this is not how it should respond. The entire surface should be sensitive to touch. Mine is and it is an 8GB iPT.
