HP 8630 Disable 2-sided scanning

I just installed a new HP 8630 on a desktop running Win 8.1 and trying to scan using Adobe 10 Pro.  In Adobe Pro 10, I preset the scanner to scan on front side only.  Despite the setting, all of my letter sized scans are doubled sided so, I end up with a blank page between each front sided scan.  So, how can I get the HP 8630 to only scan front side of letter size document?  Thanks
This question was solved.

Hello litigator201,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer scanning both sides of the document and you would like to have this setting disabled.
What we need to do is go to the HP Printer Assistant that is located on the Desktop of the computer.  Under that SCAN section, please click on the Scan a Document or Photo.  This will open a new window for the Officejet printer.
On the right hand side you will see the option to go into the Advanced Settings........ Please click on this option.
Under the Scan tab, you will see three check boxes.  Please remove the check that is in the box for Scan both sides (Duplex).
Click on OK to accept the changes and then exit out of the HP Printer Assistant and attempt you scan's again.
Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions or concerns.
Cheers,

  • Acrobat + Duplex / Double Sided Scanning

    Hi,
I have a user who is currently experiencing a problem duplex scanning.
She has a duplex scanner, and when she tries to create a pdf using scanner, sets the option to '2 sides', then hits scan, it scans the first page, then prompts for her to manually turn the page over.
Doesnt seem to be a driver issue as duplex scanning is working perfectly using the Windows scanning utility.
She says that this definately worked in the past, but suddenly stopped. She isnt sure, but thinks its possible that it stopped working roughly the time that the trial period of acrobat finished, and I put in the license key.
She is using a version of Acrobat that came with her Scanner, I believe this is version 7 standard, but its possible that it might be version 8. Her laptop is locked away at the moment, so I can't check exactly what version it was.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ventzi

    Hi Daniel,
Only automatic double sided pritning is supported by the HP Orricejet Pro 8610.
Automatic double sided scanning is only supported by the HP Officejet 8620 or 8630 for that series.
You may perform manual double sided scanning by scanning from your PC.
From the HP Scan software click on Advanced Settings and check the box next to two-sided scanning.
Confirm and follow the steps on screen.
As a reference you may find its specifications below, the difference between the 8610 vs. the 8620 models are ADF Duplexing (two sided copying, scanning or faxing of an original) and the screen size:

  • Two sided scans crash

I have a persistent problem that I cannot find a solution.
I use Acrobat Professional (8.1.2) to scan documents into a PDF file via an Epson Professional 4490 Office scanner with a document feeder. Single sided scans work flawlessly, but when I try a double sided scan, Acrobat crashes consistently after the reverse scan is complete.

I just posted a message on this in the "Raise without a handler" topic. I'm using the Epson Scan.app driver 3.27A (the latest version on the Epson web site), Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, and Mac OS 10.4.11. I get either the "Raise without a handler" message or an app crash as dzuy nguyen describes above. I can recreate the error every time by attempting to scan duplex. Thanks for any help. Joel

  • Double-sided scanning to m2727nf

    Hello
    I have a HP M2727nf and I need to scan two-sided documents.
Machine connected to the network mode and installed the HP software provided.
The problem is that the software does not allow two-sided scanning.
Conversation with the service rep told me that the machine supports this option, but is not supported in the software. I was advised to use third party software
I'd love to get ideas for solving the problem

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at Printers - LaserJet.

I assume you're referring to the Add-On Compatibility Checker disabling your extensions when you update?
To disable Add-On Compatibility Checking you can follow the following steps:
    1) Enter "about:config" into the URL bar (no quotes)
    2) Right click and create a New Boolean
    3) Name it: extensions.checkCompatibility
    4) Set it to: False
You can now restart Firefox and it will no longer disable your addons.
Keep in mind that without the Compatibility Checker Firefox can't guarantee that your extensions will work with the latest versions.

  • Disable On Access Scanning during backups

I have SCCM 2012 and running SCEP. I have file servers with multiple volumes that when backed up the SCEP on access engine adds alot of overhead to the process. Is there a way to run a script pre and post backup to disable the scanning? if not I am now disabling
the scanning and want to run a weekly on demand scan. For the on demand scan , is it possible to run it in some sort of test mode, so I can see what it thinks is malware and then I can add need exclusions.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I think you could use Orchestrator 2012 to create a runbook.
When the runbook detect the backup process is running ,then Taskkill the scanning process.

  • How to continue double sided scan if paper feed error.

I was scanning a double sided 100+ page document in a paper feed single side scanner. Upon completed scan of the first side, adobe acrobat prompted to turn over the stack and begin scan of the reverse side of the last page. After doing this the paper went into my scanner crooked somehow (feeder errror perhaps) and caused a paper jam. After fixing the paper jam and pressing continue on the popup... Adobe Acrobat canceled the rest of the scan instead of prompting to continue the scan after the error. This is extraordinarily aggravating. How to I go about continuing the scan process so that the pdf document is made in proper order??? I Googled "How to continue Adobe Acrobat pdf scan of reverse side if paper jam" and similar search phrases and found NO relevant results explaining how to do this.

Which scanner, OS platform and acrobat version are you using?

  • Disabling auto units scan on startup. How?

Each time I open Logic 9 the Audio units manager scans and test all the units before it can load. The process takes about 5-10 minutes. After using it for 2 years it just recently starting doing this. Can this be bypassed? Is there something I've done to cause this to happen. Thanx

How many do you have lol?
You can remove any unwanted plugins from the Components folder, thus speeding up the process. You can also disable any of them within Logic but these still scan on startup.
I know you can disable plugin scan on startup within Maschine for example, so having this option in Logic would also be nice.
I've never been able to find it.

  • 5740: 2-sided scanning (duplex) using ADF

Hello, I am trying to determine if this printer can use the ADF to manually build a pdf from 2-sided documents.  I am aware that it does not have an automatic 2-sided ADF, but the scenario I am think of is as follows: - Give it a stack of documents in the ADF, and scan 1 side of them- Manually flip the stack- Recan the second side- The software combines these all into the proper order I know it can do a single sheet at a time, but I am looking to do this in stacks using the ADF.  I see conflicting information everywhere, and would rather not buy the printer only to return it.  Can someone confirm if this scenario works? Thanks!

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that you are wondering if your HP Officejet 5740 printer, can use the ADF to manually build a pdf from 2-sided documents, on Windows 8.1. I am happy to answer this for you!  According to this how to scan guide, Scan Using Full Feature HP Software (Windows 8), under the section titled, Step 3: Scan with HP software, and then the section titled, Scan a multi-page original into a single file. One section states:  Important: The Scan Preview feature must be enabled in order to scan multi-page documents into a single file. Additional pages from the original are added to the single file in the Scan Preview window. When the scan preview displays, perform one of the following actions:Click the plus sign on the left side of the window to scan additional pages. If you are not using an ADF, load the next page of the document onto the scanner glass to add each additional page to the file. The only thing I would be concerned about is the page order. Because the printer will scan each page in the order they are inserted into the ADF feeder. So if you stack say 10 pieces of paper in the feeder, it will scan the one side of each page, and then if you flip them over, it will scan the second side of each page in the order you have it in the feeder and add it to the file in that order.  The only way to scan double sided in the proper order, as far as I can tell, is to scan the top of page one. flip it over manually, scan the back of page one, and repeat for the remaining pages. You might be able to find a third-party PDF editor, that could you could use to edit the file with. As this printer only has duplex printing, and not scanning capabilities. I would honestly look for a printer that has the duplex scanning capability that you are looking for.  Hope this information helps!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • How can I permanently disable double sided printing in Acrobat Reader 11.0.09?

    Hi prtlaw,

These option are available with printer drivers. So, this is something you need to check from printer http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/choosing-print-options#1TC=windows-7

  • Can pages be rearranged/merged automatically to restore odd even sequence after one-sided scans of double sided documents

I would like to scan into pdf format some documents that are deteriorating badly.  These documents are printed on both sides and there are lots of them.  The stack of documents can be placed in a regular feeder scanner but only one side of the documents will get scanned at one time.  I could then turn the stack upside down and scan the other side.  But that would leave me with a grouping of the odd pages pages of the documents as pdf, and a grouping of the even pages.  How could I then rearrange/merge the pages so they appear as a normal sequence of odd-even in the pdf? Thanks.

    Hey all:
Thanks for the positive feedback. I found myself needing to do some collating and reversing again, and discovered that the script didn't show up in Acrobat 9. So I updated the script, and moved the menu item into the "Document" menu.
Unfortunately I can't figure out how to attach the updated script in the new form editor, so I'll inline it. Copy the following script into a file and install it into your Javascripts folder, as before.
    // Complements: Planet PDF (http://www.planetpdf.com/)
// Modified by Jeff Baitis for Acrobat 9 compatibility

  • 8630 very slow to scan

Scanning using the Mac scanning application "Image Capture" is extremely slow.  I have a new iMac with i7 processor and 32GB of RAM; scanning takes over *one minute* and seems to peg my CPU.   Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem and found using the "ControlCenter" software from Brother and then reducing the scan resolution from 300x300 to 100x100 made it much faster.

  • Scan to PDF files too large! - Why?? Solution for Windows - How about Mac? (HP-8630)

Scanning a document to a PDF file of reasonable size has been addressed many times - it is always an issue! My wife is a realtor and frequently needs to scan multiple page documents. I found an actual solution last night:
27 page letter-size B&W document - Scan to PDF on my HP-8630 AIO using HP software at 300dpi, small file size, BW: 27MB! Too big to email.
Solution (in Windows 7 at least), if you have Adobe Acrobat:
Open Adobe Acrobat, go to File Menu -  Create - PDF from Scanner - Configure Presets. Select and configure "Black and White Document":
Select TWAIN device (NOT WIA) as the scanner; black and white, 300dpi, file size one notch to left (smaller) from center, check "optimize after scan". Select paper size and one- or two-sided scanning. Uncheck "make searchable". Save the preset. (The TWAIN driver was apparently installed with the HP installer, since I did not have to look for it.)
After placing pages in the Doc Feeder,  go to File Menu, Create - PDF from Scanner - Black and White Document. Watch the magic!
File size 768k!  Quality indistinguishable from the 27MB version, sharp and clear, all 27 pages! Really!
Using the HP software, using a lower resolution or sliding the file size slider to smaller makes a muddy scan, and the file  is still huge compared to the Acrobat technique. MUCH worse quality than the Acrobat 768k version.
Interestingly, using Acrobat to open the 27MB scan and "PRINT" it to the PDF Printer reduced the size to 10MB, with no change in appearance. "Save as smaller PDF" did not reduce the size further.
What gives, HP?? What can Acrobat do  to scan from your AIO that you can't do?
I tried on my Mac as well - we use both. No go. On Mac OSX 10.10.1 with latest HP drivers, Acrobat does not see any TWAIN or other driver from within the dialog box described above. Scanning from HP software again yields about 1MB per page.
Anyone know how to make Acrobat see the scanner on Mac?

    Hi @JosephWit ,
I see by your post that you are having issues with the PDF scanning size being too big. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
The drivers for 10.10 are installed by the Apple Updates. Did you install the 10.9 drivers or are did up run the Apple Updates to install the printer?
Uninstall the 10.9 printer software and run the Apple Updates to install the proper drivers. Then you can scan with the Apple Software.
Connect the printer to the Mac by a USB cable and run the Apple Updates to install the printer drivers.
Go to the Apple, About this Mac, click on the Overview tab and select Software Updates.
Go to the Apple, Printers and Scanners, delete the USB drivers and disconnect the USB cable.
Then add the wireless printer as a Bonjour printer if the printer is networked.
Click on the + sign, highlight the printer, below beside Use: make sure just the printer name is listed. (you might have to click on the drop down to select your printer from the list)
Here is a document for Scanning in OS X v10.10 Yosemite Without HP Software.
If you are having issues with Adobe, run the updates. Product updates.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8630 Scan to Network Folder Slow

I had an OfficeJet Pro 8600 that recently died.  On that printer I had set up the feature Scan to Network Folder, which worked flawless and quickly.  I replaced the 8600 with a new OfficeJet 8630.  Configured the Scan to Network Folder feature identically to how the 8600 worked.  When testing the connection via the web interface, the connection times out and says there is a problem with the settings.  However, if you go to the printer and initial a scan to a network folder, the screen on the printer displays "connecting" and after about 3-4 minutes the document scans to the network folder.
HP support had no suggestions other than sending me a replacement printer, but it behaved the same way and was returned.  Out of ideas.  Anyone having similar issues or have any suggstions?
    Rob

Rob - I encountered the same trouble just today while installing the HP 8630 on a network.  Eventually the scans would go to the computers but it took quite a while - maybe two or three minutes - for the scan to complete.
I resolved the trouble by substituting the IP address of the computer that hosted the target network folder for the name of that computer.  For example, if the network file path was listed as \\david\8630scans, I changed it to read \\192.168.1.122\8630scans.
After repowering the 8630, the scan connection was practically instantaneous and the scan proceeded normally and as intended.  You should be able to make this change using the web interface in the scan to a network folder section.  Apparently there is some sort of name resolution problem that is bypassed by using IP addresses.
Be sure to repower the 8630 after you make the changes to the network path.
