HP 8750 Printer missing since Leopard upgrade on home wireless network

My HP 8750gp is connected (ethernet not USB) to my BT Voyager 2100 wireless router and worked fine under Tiger. Since the upgrade to Leopard, it does not appear as an available printer. Tried re-installing drivers from Leopard DVD, HP installation cd and HP website but still does not appear. I saw a related topic which suggested you need to be logged in with Admin privaleges to add a printer, however on my iMac I am the only account and so am always logged in as Admin. The printer has also dissapeared from my MacMini which has also been upgraded. Since re-installing drivers, HP Printer Setup loads at start up each time but cannot find the printer.
I am assuming this to be a Leopard issue (as that was the change), but could equally be a router or printer issue I guess.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Andy

For whatever reason, my printer has just started working - one moment it was not listed, the next it was. I have no idea how this miracle happened, it just did.

  • I would like to add my Deskjet F4480 printer to my home wireless network. How can this done?

I have a Linksys wireless router that is the hub of my home wireless network.  I have been successful in adding a HP OfficeJet 6500 All-in-one Printer an old HP DeskJet 890C that I purchased in 1997 with a computer running Windows 95.  The HP 890C has been my tireless workhorse throughout my two kids K-12 school as well as printing reams of paper during my MBA...and guess what: it still works.  However, my daughter has just returned home from college and she has a HP DeskJet F4480 printer/scanner that she would like to add it to the home network.  I have been researching the problem, but haven't been successful in finding out if this printer is compatible to add to a wireless network.  Or simply, will a 802.11g Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter suffice?  I am also adding a new Windows 7 laptop in the network, that will need to print to this F4480.  I patiently await the forum's response.

My mistake, it seems that price was a deciding factor when I purchased the F4480 in lieu of a more expensive wireless ready printer-scanner.  I will eventually come-up with a solution as I did with the 890C where I have a wireless print server connected directly to the printer serial connection.  It seems that backward compatible is still evident, but I am having some problems coming up with the long-lasting HP49 and HP23 tri-color ink packs.
Here is the rub; I don't replace technology because it is out-dated. I upgrade and or repair everything myself. I found warranties not worth the paper their written on and in most cases, the technical support was lacking.  My Win95 desktop went thru several major components until I found that it was becoming harder to find software to run with it.  I finally replaced it in 2007.  Now it seems that there has been a paradigm shift toward utilities that are very hungry for memory, and even if I didn't want to, I am forced to come over to the dark side with a device that has a minimum of 8GB of RAM.

  • MacBook can't see my home wireless network after upgrade to OSX 10.8.5

After upgrading to OSX 10.8.5, my MacBook does not detect any wireless nertworks. My iPad and iPhone work fine, my router has been rebooted, WiFi is turned on, and the ethernet connection is how I am writing this message to you via broadband. There are a half dozen wireless networks in range (according to my iPhone) but the MacBook cannot find the router I am sitting next to. Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

It appears an SMC reset was required:
HT5815 I've just done the 10.8.5 update on my MacBook Pro end of 2008, and WiFi don't work after reboot... Impossible to activate it...
Here is your other post: MacBook can't see my home wireless network after upgrade to OSX 10.8.5
If you reply to it and marked it "solved", perhaps with a link to that post (copy and paste it, or just say you performed the SMC reset) it will help others find a solution. Thanks!

  • I need help adding my printer to my home wireless network

My printer was shut down for several months. When i turned it on it was not longer connected to my wireless network. It recognizes my SSID and that of other wireless networks in the area. But I cannot get it connected to my home wireless network.
When I enter my passphrase it returns error "passphrase invalid." If I use the Push Button or PIN set-up I get the error message "WPS timed out."
I have followed the instructions useing the HP Printer set-up disc. It worked on one computer today (it printed a wireless network test report). But, then I could not find the printer on the network later. I also noticed the report does not show a IP address for the printer.
I have also been online with my internet provider and we changed my passphrase 11 times and the printer never recognized any of them. I am operating another printer wirelessly on the same system. By the way, shutting the other printer down did not seem to work. But, they both worked on the network previously.I have also added and deleted the printer several times.
The printer I am trying to add is a HP Photosmart Premium Web C309n-s
I am using a Windows 7 Operating System 64-bit on my laptop and Windows XP 32 bit on the other computers on my home wireless network,
    Please help.

  • HT4356 Can I use a 'pc' network printer connected via ethernet to the home wifi network ?

Can I use a 'pc' network printer connected via ethernet to the home wifi network ?
or must the printer I want to use also have a wifi connection ?
I have a home network using ethernet connected devices to a router, also attached to th erouter is a WiFi unit. We are using the WiFi unit to connect to the network and hence to the big wide WWW.  We now want to print from our IPads pereferable to our netowk connected HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a series. (not the wireless model).
I was using the HP ePrint app to print from the Ipad, but I do not fully understand how this works. It seems that you must use the app to do the printing which is fine for basic email and photos, but I can not access the drawing package I have, and want to print from it. Please what is it that I do not understand.

You must use an airprint printer directly connected to wifi through it's own wifi card.

  • Mail Missing After Leopard Upgrade

For some reason, since I upgraded to Leopard, my inbox only goes back 3 months or so with my .mac email.
I have years of mail that was on my computer that isn't there. I just did an upgrade on top of 10.4. How do I get it all back?
    Thanks.

Assuming you upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.x then have you tried rebuilding your mailboxes? choose the mailbox you want rebuild and go to Mailbox>Rebuild?
If you have upgraded from an earlier 10.4.xx version you may want to search this discussion group as there are known issues with mailboxes and missing email.

  • IPod no longer mounts since Leopard upgrade

My iPod no longer mounts since I upgraded to Leopard. I'm using a USB 2 port that's part of a third party PCI card I installed myself. Used to work fine before the Mac OS upgrade.
If I reboot with the iPod already plugged in, it mounts.
    Help?

Forgot to mention that I had tried those:
Authorize your purchases from an administrator account
    -> Yep, I'm the admin
Authorize using the correct account name
-> Nothing changed- I am only authorizing my devices, and only use my account on the machine. Definitely using the right account name.
Turn Off User Account Controls (Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only)
-> Did this a long, long time ago, so definitely not the issue.
    Remove the SC Info folder
-> This was the only new thing that I had seen yesterday when I tried it, and went through these steps, to no avail. Still exactly the same problem. I closed iTunes, deleted the folder, rebooted and relaunched iTunes and synced the device. Same thing.
The problem is the computer IS authorized, and I can sync one device, but not the other. No problem with iPhone 4- just iPod Touch, 3rd gen. It seems to be in a weird state.
One thing would lead me to believe it's a PC/iTunes problem, but then it is only with one device and not the other. Hard to point to the root of the problem. I just don't want to lose the data on the iPod- I've done a lot of work on it.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Can't Print After Snow Leopard Upgrade

I have a home network centered around an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. The base station is wired to a Linksys network switch which, in turn, is wired to two computers - an Apple Dual G5 running OS X 10.4.11 and a and Mac MIni which, until yesterday was running Leopard. I have an HP Laserjet P1006 connected to the USB port of the AEBS and, until yesterday, everything worked fine. Yesterday, I ran the Snow Leopard Upgrade on my Mini and now the Mini won't print to the HP over the network. If I connect the printer directly to the MIni, it works fine; as soon as I reconnect the printer to the AEBS, the Mini will no longer print. The lights on the printer will flash but nothing comes out. I have downloaded the HP Printer driver update from Apple but this didn't help. I have reset the AEBS, to no avail. The G5 running Tiger has no problems with printing. And, my daughter just got a brand-new MacBook Pro loaded with Snow Leopard from the factory and she can print to the HP over the network without any problems.
    Any ideas?

When I upgraded iMac from Leopard to Snow Leopard 10.6 it also stopped printing wirelessly to Brother MFC6490CW.
I thought I had this same issue with my Epson printer when wireless printing. Actually, in SL, wireless printing is very slow at least with an Epson. Takes about 5 minutes or so for wireless print to even start. When checking the printing status app, it will start out saying "printer ready." Then after a few minutes it will say "looking for printer." A few minutes later it will say "printing."
When I go into the next room where the printer is, the green light is "flashing" letting me know that "printing" has started.
So I guess what I am trying to say is to check the printing status app after you click "print." It's possible "Brother" is just as slow as "Epson."

  • (Slow Network): iSight camera not working in iChat since Leopard upgrade

I have a different type of iChat video issue. My Power Mac G4, 867 MHz, 1 GB DRAM is a supported Mac for the Leopard upgrade. I've successfully installed OS 10.5.
Also my Power Mac meets the iChat Conferencing Requirements for 1-on-1 Video Chat per the OS 10.5 system requirements and the application note here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301050
My iSight camera is connected via Firewire to an Apple Cinema Display, which feeds back to the Power Mac G4.
    1) When I boot from my 10.3.9 Carbon Copy Cloner backup my iSight works in iChat (at least locally to see myself) without any issue. Green light comes on and shows me locally on video and audio sound bars. Before the OS upgrade the iSight worked fine for live video conferences with iChat 2.1.3 under Mac OS 10.3.9
    2) Running OS 10.5 when I go to iChat 4.0's preferences video pane the following message is waiting "This computer does not support video conferencing."
    3) With Leopard iChat 4.0 the Connector Doctor under "capabilities" says "(Slow Network)" for 1-on-1 Video Chat and won't even show video locally or turn on the iSight's green light.

    Fixed!
My Power Mac Quicksilver G4, 867 MHz. problem with (Slow Network) in the iChat Connection Doctor, no video preview or video iChat since upgrading to OS 10.5 Leopard and iChat 4.0 has been solved with the following posted towards the end of the thread below. I can finally see my video preview with iChat 4.0 and have also video chatted successfully with one other user.
Topic : Macbook - iChat says "This computer does not support video conferencing"

In Terminal type or paste this command on a single line:
    defaults write com.apple.iChat newbwdup 300000

    Quit Terminal.

  • Problems with browsing on Safari and Firefox since Leopard upgrade ??

Ever since I upgraded to Leopard, I am experiencing consistent problems while browsing. Both Firefox and Safari stall when I click on links or try to load pages. The browsers just appears dead and the loading icons just stall. Firefox is much worse than Safari with every 3rd or 4th click causing a stall. I have to wait about a minute before the click is recognized and the page is loaded.
I thought it might be my airport connect but I have other Windows comps on the same network and they don't have the problem.
I haven't seen any thread in the Safari discussions about this and can't find anything on the net about it either.
Anyone know what the problem might be?
    Safari 3.1.1
    Firefox 2.0.0.14
    Leaopard 10.5.2

There were no error messages in the console for the stalling. However after I plugged the ethernet cable into the Imac, the problem seems to have gone away.
This is good but how can I fix the problem with my airport wireless connection ?

  • IDvd 06 Keeps crashing since Leopard upgrade

I upgraded my MacBook Pro to leopard back In November, since then, every time I use iDvd 06 It crashes on stage 2, I Installed the 6.0.4 update but still It crashes! It seems this Is quite a common problem since Leopard, Any bright Ideas gratefully received!!

I remember reading that post and I believe the only recommendation was to make sure that the user had the necessary available HD space for working with apps like iDvd. Plus I think the point you made was good in that it would be unlikely these same users have to date filled up their main HD to the point of slowing iDvd. Most these units are but a few months old (if not newer).
Truth is there is no overall solution yet nor a direct answer or solution to this issue (short of software updates in some cases) yet even on these newer models that should run iLife'08 apps flawlessly. iDvd seems to be the major issue while the other apps remain unaffected in the majority of cases.
And like you Fred, I'm starting to suspect the graphics card in a number of these laptops but as of yet I have no direct evidence that this is the case nor if this will resolve most of the issues here. Doesn't hurt to document what has or has not worked to date which I am attempting to do on the following thread even tho it has been marked as solved. The solution posted here may work for some but not all:

  • Calendar missing after leopard upgrade

I have 7 different calendars in iCal, but after upgrading to Leopard I'm missing one. I can still see the name of this specific calendar as a .ics file under Libary-Calendars, but it doesn't show when I open iCal. I tried deleting the cache file but this hasn't fixed my problem. TX!

I got the same problem (one missing Calendar) when upgrading from 10.3 to 10.5.
To get it back again, open iCal and drag the calendar file into the "CALENDARS" list (left hand pane). That should do the trick.

  • Phone won't send pictures since Leopard upgrade

I have a Nokia 6682 smartphone. I use the bluetooth mainly to send pictures I take w/ the phone to my Macbook.
However, ever since I upgraded to Leopard, the phone won't successfully connect. I have tried re-configuring the device pairing among other random things. Still no luck.
Any suggestions? Anyone having a similar problem with a bluetooth device and Leopard?

Answered here: cannot receive via bluetooth

  • Glitches since Leopard Upgrade.

Ever since I upgraded to Leopard
    - numbers window sometimes garbles and becomes unreadable.
    - pages mini page views are garbled and unreadable
    - keynote mini slide view is unreadable and sometime whole screen garbles when playing presentation
I use latest version of IWork and have deleted everything and reinstalled.
Same problem keeps occuring... how to improve on this,
I tried searching in these groups but could not find a solution...what is going on?
more importantly, how to fix it>?

    Hello
May you check that there are no third party products installed.
I assumes that you have already used Disk Utility to repair permissions.
It seems that some haxies may have odd effects.
If you met oddities only with iWork products, we may assume that the problem is in one of the preferences files related to these applications.
    They are:
    <bootVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Keynote.pli st
    <bootVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Numbers.pli st
    <bootVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
Try to disable them [move them into a subfolder (mine is named "on_Strike")]
Relaunching the apps will build clean prefs.

  • I chat problem since Leopard upgrade.

I recently upgraded to Leopard, now i chat has an issue. When I click on a buddy, a window opens with my icon and a bubble, however when I type and hit return I see nothing. In addition when my buddy responds I see his/hers icon and bubble briefly then it disappears with no text.

I've been having this same problem since I upgraded to Leopard. Also my buddy list is grey and displays all my contacts online or not. The privacy features also are not accessible and say that I can't change them because I am not logged in, but I am logged in according to the main screen. I am behind a netgear router most of the time and connect wirelessly to an airport express. My provider is Comcast. I have changed the port to 443, tried the fix listed here, tried to fix it using onyx, and I'm sure more. At this point I am using Adium because I can't get iChat to work. I want to use iChat as I really like the new features and it was one of the reasons I upgraded to Leopard in the first place.
