Hp 970 printer

Mountan Lion does not recognize my hp 970 printer, and will not print in color. Is there a new driver?

No, it's not listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
And HP says it hasn't been supported since 10.6:

  • My Printer won't work with windows vista

I just got a new computer that runs windows vista and I can not get my printer to work it is a photosmart 1115. How can I get this to work it is my favorite printer

If this is the Photosmart 1115 that uses the #45 and #78 cartrdiges then use the "Add Printer" command in the Printers folder to add the Deskjet 970 printer.  The Deskjet 970 driver is compatible with the Photosmart 1115 for printing although the functionality of reading the card slots back to the computer will not be available.

  • Cannot match screen color to photo print color on Canon 970

I am a new iMac user, but have quite a bit of experience with the PC. I was able to get good color match between my PC and my Canon 970. But I have been unable to get the same match now that I am using an iMac. I am using the same inks and paper (canon photo paper pro). All the printer functions work, and plain paper printing is fine. I also cannot find any color profiles for my printer in the colorsync app under the devices tab (although the printer is listed). I did a straight install of the printer software as it came from the box (this was all I had to do with the PC to have the colors match). Please advise of the solution, and if you direct me to any files, etc., please also tell me how/where to access them (I am still struggling to find things in the iMac world). Thanks.

    Hello Jerry,
A number of color profiles are installed by the MP970 driver installer. You can have a look at these profiles by opening ColorSync, expanding Other and then /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter. By selecting each you will see the different lab plot associated with the profile. Now all the profiles are related to papers, such as Fine Art Photo Rag, GL 2/3 (gloss papers), MP (matte paper), PR1/2/3 and SP2/3 (Canon photo papers).
To invoke the profile within an application, you select the appropriate paper type from the Quality & Media menu. You should also select to print 'a top-quality photo' in the same menu. Also, via the Color Options menu, ensure the 'Color Correction' setting is set to 'Driver Matching'.
In the case of iPhoto 08, you don't have the same options. All you can do is open the Presets menu and select one of the available paper types.

  • Printing problems with Deskjet 970 Cse

Sometimes when I try to print a pdf file, the printer just prints a few lines of each page and skips the rest. I end up getting several pages output with only a few lines in each page. How can this be fixed? I am running Windows Vista.

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help.  I would also suggest you make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader.

  • Pages will not print via network printer

I have purchased and installe Pages and Numbers and neither one will print to my network printer. I have been using my DeskJet 970 on my network without trouble.
I can print from other apps installed on my iPad via this same printer.
In support of printing I have purchased Print-N-Share as well as PrintCentral Pro. I have also install wePrint on my desktop.
When I open Pages and attempt to print I am asked to select a printer. The message that comes up is that no Airprint printers were found. It totally ignores my wePrint server app which connects Print-N-Share and PrintCentral Pro.
I have already requested a reinstatement to my account for $9.99 which Apple has thus far ignored.
Has anyone experience this or found a solution to this problem.

Hi All printers are different. I suggest you contact the printer manufacture. Do you have the installation disc that came with the printer?? Try installing the printer on all computers that do not work?? Also unplug the printer for 20 seconds. Some times I have to unplug my HP to get it to work wireless. It's kind a like rebooting your PC

  • HP Deskjet All in ONe L7650 will not print black only --

Started doing this with previously working black cartridge, updated software--prints, but blank page comes out when set to black ink only; prints other colors.
Changed black print cartridge and still will not print black.  Diagnostic page prints other colors.
Printhead health shows good for all colors.

What brand of printer cartridges (not printhead) did you use the last time you changed them?  I don't know if it was because one or both of my printer cartrdiges went dry, but I put new cartridges in (not printhead) and it improved somewhat--I kept trying to clean the printheads but it seemed to never get resolved.
I refuse to have to buy new printheads.  I tried several cycles of "align printheads" "clean printheads" and never got a decent print out, but I did get to the point of all the colors printing although magenta printhead makes printing errors and so I never know what I am going to get with color anymore.
It seems to be at its worst when printing in "draft" but in normal or best (with more ink coming through) it seems better--the higher ink volume seems to cover some of the problems with the printheads.
So, I am justing using it "as is" and not replacing the printheads--because it is a waste and yes, could almost get a new printer for this cost.
I wish I had never gotten this All in One and just stuck with the old 970 csi and the old UMAX scanner, which was a better scanner, but thought I would "save some space" by getting this since it scans legal, which I needed.
Just keep trying to reseat the printheads (also trying to reclean them, which seems to make it worse) and keep printing out those "tools" alignment and cleaning procedures.
    But no help from HP.

  • HP Photomart 1000 Deskjet Printer Problems

Previously through HP Support I was able to use my old faithful and super-reliable HP Photosmart 1000 printer on Vista (32bit) with this driver installed on Vista.  It was the HP 970Cse and it worked flawlessly.  But now, just getting an "error" message when trying to print a test page.  Anyone have any more ideas?  Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling this and other printer drivers that I use regularly.   Please Help!  I don't want to donate this one to the landfill yet!!

Actually the Deskjet 970 drivers are a better match for the Photosmart 1000.  The Deskjet 990 drivers should work for text but will probably fail for photo's and some graphics.
What happens when you try to print - are there any error messages?  Does the printer go through any motions of trying to print?
Is the printer connected with USB or a parallel port?  If the printer is connected with a USB port it would probably be USB001: or USB 002:, see the document here.  For a parallel port the likely port would be LPt1:.
How are you printing a test page?  To start I would use Notepad and try a simple text document.

  • Trouble scaling when printing in Safari

Here is the problem I'm having:
When I want to print an email while in Safari, I go File-Print, and system automatically scales the text at 2,970%. I have to manually highlight the percentage and enter 100% each time, which is a pain. Can anybody tell me how to go in and manually reset the default percentage to 100%? Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!
    -- Mark Strand

    HI Mark,
Just a thought. You might have better luck printing Safari web based e-mail in PDF format.

  • Printing Basics Question

I'm trying to figure out the basics of printing in SGD and was hoping someone could shed a bit more light on it for me.
First off, I have printing working. I have Windows 2003 App Servers, fronted by a SGD on Solaris 10 and Solaris 10 clients using web browser access to SGD. My problem lies in the fact that each Solaris client may have a different make and model of printer attached to it. The SGD host is shared between all clients and therefore has a shared printer configuration between users and hosts.
When a user logs into a given host and starts a Windows desktop they see the _Default printer defined as the default printer type (the QMS 1060 Print System) so when they try to print they get none of the advanced features of the printer such as color or duplexing.
I'm trying to figure out a way so that, when a user logs into a particular client (they will use different clients all the time) they will see only the printers attached to that client with those printers drivers properly configured. Is there a way to do this?

    Hi.
By default (as dictated by the /opt/tarantella/etc/data/default.printerinfo.txt file), the UNIX/Linux clients get a predefined "QMS 1060 Print System" when conencting to Windows app servers; this is because the SSGD client is not able to find out the exact brand/model of the printer being used on the UNIX/Linux client side.
If the SSGD client is operating under a Windows environment, then the client is able to pick up the correct driver as to create an equivalent printer on the server side (assuming the server does have the required driver).
Back to UNIX/Linux clients: by amending the above file (or by copying the same file under $HOME/.tarantella/printerinfo.txt) you can instruct SSGD at to configure printers on the Windows server accordingly; as an example (taken from the SSGD 4.41 admin guide - see references below) if you put the following lines into the $HOME/.tarantella/printerinfo.txt file (on the CLIENT, NOT on the SSGD server):
    [UNIX]
"drafts" = "HP DeskJet 970Cxi" PCL
"salesprinter" = "HP LaserJet 5/5M" PostScript
when SSGD connects to the Windows server, the user will then see a couple of printers available:
    drafts/SSGD_SERVERNAME/SESSION_NUMBER
    salesprinter/SSGD_SERVERNAME/SESSION_NUMBER
Please notice that SSGD_SERVERNAME and SESSION_NUMBER are actually placeholders for the name of the SSGD server and the number of RDP session calculated by the Windows server.
Of course, you'll have to make sure drivers for both "HP Desktop 970 Cxi" and "HP Laserjet 5/5M" are available on the Windows server (you don't have to create the above printers first, only make sure the drivers are available).
You'll notice the PCL and PostScript entries and the end of the above lines; they're used to inform SSGD of the "type" of the printer (ie, which language the printer supports) so that the tta_print_converter can eventually "convert" among different print types (eg, from PostScript to PDF, from text to Postscript and son on).
You'll find more info on this subject in the SSGD admin guide: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4907
    Hope this helps.
    Ciao,
    Rob

  • Photoshop 10 Will Not Print to HP Deskjet 9650

My computer is running Win 7-64.  There is 96 GB free space on drive C. This is a new computer with the HP 9650 being connected for the first time.
Printing to HP Deskjet 9650 will not work for Photoshop.  Printing to a HP Deskjet 970 does work.
The HP 9650 is connected with a USB cable.  A test page printed from Tool Box prints as expected.  Printing works from Windows Photo Viewer.
Printing of the same document that successfully printed using Windows Photo Viewer does not work from Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.  Attempts to print documents from MS Word (MS Office 2010), Adobe pdf viewer, Fire Fox, or Windows Internet Explorer do not work.
The Power light on the HP 9650 blinks seeming to indicate that the print job is being processed. But printing never occurs. Sometimes "Photoshop Elements Printing: not responding" is displayed.  Other times no error messages are  displayed on the computer monitor.  Other programs mentioned above do not display an error message.
After several minutes the Power Light is on steady and the Resume Light begins to blink a steady on and off. Pressing the Resume light switch changes nothing.
HP 9650 printer manual speaks of the meaning of the combination of Power-Light-on steady and Resume-Light-blinking.  I think it is easy to eliminate the printer waiting for special media to dry as plain paper is being used and this same media was used successfully printed from Windows Photo Viewer. Printer is not out of paper. Printing job was not a banner, I/O stall is considered not a problem since the test page printed and a document can be printed from Windows Photo Viewer. Even though printer set up page was configured for "Automatic" tray selection, a manual load from rear was tried with no change.  That seems to eliminate the printer waiting for a manual feed load.
The above leaves only a "media mismatch" being the problem according to the printers manual. I have gone over the printer page setup dozens of times and find no media mismatch.  If there was a media mismatch it likely would be present when printing the same document from Windows Photo Viewer.

Part of the problem has been solved.  Seems that the HP Deskject 9650 needs to have "spool printing" turned on.  Making this change allows the printer to work.
Remaining is a problem that occurs when the print job is completed, regardless of how many pages the job included.  At the end of the job the Power light blinks a steady on and off.  The manual says that this means the printer is processing a job.  It will do this for several minutes until a point when the power light is on solid and the Advance light blinks steadily. Turning the printer off and then back on resets it.
It appears to be waiting for someting that it never gets.  Any ideas?

  • Clear printer memory

I have a Deskjet 4480 which is great but I cannot figure out how to clear the memory. There has to be a simple way. It's so frustrating when the printer goes on printing stuff that I don't want anymore.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

For the Deskjet 970  (and perhaps the Deskjet 4480?) there is a cancel button on the printer (the X button).  Pressing this will immediately cancel printing, although the job will continue spooling to the printer.  The reason turning the printer off and back on does not clear the issue is that the document is held in the computer's queue and will be resent when the printer is turned back on.

  • Printing problems after "upgrading" to Snow Leopard

Under Leopard my two printers (HP Deskjet 970 Cxi and Epson Stylus Photo 2100) worked just fine.
With Snow Leopard the quality of the prints with the two printers is simply bad. The print-driver is: gutenprint v5.2.3 even an upgrade to gutenprint v5.2.4 did not make any difference.
When printing a test page with the Epson Stylus Photo 2100 the printer simply pauses during the print somewhere along the test page. When the printer is started again (green button in the printer window) it starts printing from the beginning again and pauses again. Useless!

    Eric,
For the Deskjet, I'd suggest using the Leopard drivers (off of the Leopard DVD). They will give you much better quality printing, although you'll have to deal with lack of features printing from 64-bit apps. The easiest way to work around them is to print through Preview an force Preview to run in 32-bit mode.
The other option would be to install the [HPIJS|http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macos x/hpijs] drivers.
    Just trying to help.

  • Applications crashes when trying to print

A number of applications such as iwork,PDF, etc. crashes when trying to print, I can print test pages and use other printer utilities functions on my HP 970 CXI.
Creating new printer queue had no effect can any one suggest a solution. Thanks
    Imac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    DariusT,
This may sound elementary but I turn off all print spoolers - print monitoring, background printing, etc. - as the very first test. This eliminates a whole class of issues, including some memory related questions.
The version of the operating system can also be a factor. If you turn off the printer, delete laserwriter 8 preferences, turn on the printer, select the printer in chooser and try printing again you may solve some problems.
You posted your question in the old folks home. Are you using an old computer? An iBook G4 processor is as new as a Mac Mini so I am assuming that this is a question that predates OS X. If this is an OS X printing problem, we need to shift mental gears or you may want to post your query again in a more modern forum. Post back will more details and we will try and help out.

  • Installing DeskJet 970 CSe over network to Win 7 64-bit system

My deskjet 970Cse is hard connected to our desktop running Windows XP Pro. I just bought a new laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. I was able to install the printer connecting the USB cable to the laptop without a hitch, however, I can't install it over the network. When I click Add Printer, Windows is able to find the printer, but after trying to connect, it says it can't find a driver on the network. When I click on OK to locate one manually, it asks me to locate the INF file. I tried pointing it to the Windows XP INF file I downloaded from the HP website but it says (obviously) that it cannot connect to the printer.
I'm assuming that if I'm able to connect the printer locally that connecting to it over a network should be able to work? Any workarounds to get it to work?
Or is my issue something HP might/will/won't solve when it supposedly releases Windows 7 drivers?
    This question was solved.

The Deskjet 970cse and cxi drivers are the same.  You will need to enable the duplexer as described in the first part of this post in the Vista/Win 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide here.

  • Top of 30" hot to touch

I never noticed before, but the very top of my display is hot to the touch. Should I be concerned, or is that normal? To head off any extraneous comments, it's not in direct sunlight and the brick is about 1' away from the base.

I just bought a 32 gb iPad mini off eBay with some damage.  Taking it to the Apple store, I found out I was able to get a new one free of charge because it was under warranty.  They did this by checking the serial number.  After I came home, I realiz

  • Opening multiple files as layers in PS CS4?
