  • History in my search bar will not clear even though I have selected all the appropriate settings under tools/privacy etc. Is this a Firefox bug or am I doing something wrong?

No additional details - just can't figure out why the search history will not clear.

when i go to Music > Artist > All, as you suggested, i see all the albums i have listed. doesn't really relate to my problem with artists with songs in one album, as well as song w/o album set, and the latter not showing up.
but that reminds me, why is it when i go to the All section from a particular artist and they do have more than one album (or even no albums), the order of the songs is in the order they are in the albums.. if i wanted the order it is on albums, i would have selected that album for example.. it would be nice if the songs were in alphabetical order when you're NOT browsing by album, making a particular song easier to find (what if you have thirteen albums for example and u aren't sure which album a song is on, now you have to scroll through a seemingly random ordered list to find one song, alphabetical would be SOOOO helpful!)

  • Firefox will not clear cache

I tried the beta version of FF 4, and deleted it, then when the full version came out I got it. Every since I had the beta version my FF will not clear the cache, I have tried a dozen ways to get my cache cleared and nothing is working.

Do you still see that the cache is used if you open the <b>about:plugins</b> page via the location bar?

  • Websites will not clear, even when I try to clear history, and restart.. They ALL come back dozens of them. This is making Firefoc useless. Why?

Why has it suddenly happened that whenever I go on Firefox the screen is clogged up with websites I have been onto in the last hours, and they will not clear and will not allow me to get back to my bbc home website without difficulty

In '''Options window''' at '''General panel''' scroll and put '''SHOW MY HOME PAGE'''(probably you have ''Show my windows and tabs from last time'' here), if you have set home page to BBC then every time you open firefox you must see your BBC home page.

  • Drop down history will not clear

no matter what i've tried the drop down history will not clear, the same history has been on there forever

If you wish to stop the History items showing in your location bar dropdowns my original post gave alink to an article explaining you to do that : by using your '''Privacy''' settings . If that fails to work then look at [[Preferences are not saved]]
Firefox keeps say your last 18o days history, so in 10 years time it will still be showing history, even if it is still the last previous 180 days.
Re the variable expiry date for history: this was settable form the main User Interface until very recently, up to about version 3.5, it must now be set using about:config

  • I tunes store will not open when i open i tunes

i tunes store will not open?

Was told a couple weeks ago that issue is a 'MicroSoft' issue by apple 'support'.   There are serious issues going on with itunes now.  The amount of time that customers have to put in to 'fix' broken products to buy something from apple is insane.  Seriously apple, do you want to sell music?  Then make it accessable.
If any other industry were this dysfunctional, they would be out of business!
Imagine going to McDonalds, attempting to place an order via the drive though, but voice is so garbled that they cant understand you, then they have you pull over, and say that a manager will come speak with you... after about 20minutes, the manager shows up and asks you what the issue is... you say, that you're just trying to place an order.  Manager says, oh, you need to go through the drive through again, and try speaking clearer.... round 2... still garbled... pull over... manager comes out again... 'maybe the noise of your vehicle is too loud'.  Try it again, and shutting your vehicle off when speaking....     2 hours later... still no food.   Problem is their speaker system is BROKEN.   Seriously, thats what its like!

  • Badge on phone icon will not clear

Since upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 the badge on my Phone Icon will not clear, it shows up with no number in it and shows on the home screen icon as well as on the voicemail tab inside the phone app. I have tried a reset, turning the badge settings on and off again, quitting the phone app and NOTHING works.

    Hi there Sean.
Yes this is a problem with the Sim.
I've only ever seen this from orange with regards to this particular model of handset.
If you take your phone to you rnearest orange shop and ask them to supply you with a new sim card then im pretty sure that will solve your problem.
The staff will probably tell you otherwise and ask you to take it to a CNSP but be firm.

    Hi,
I see... so if the carriage wud nmot move to the center or right side of the printer- try to unplug the printer and manually move the carriage... but if that step will not work.. you need to replace the printer becayse the unit is already defective...

I used my Ipod while at the gym one day and now it's acting wacky.  I have tunes that will not download due to an "unexpected error (-50).  Anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

looks like the gtk theme is not the problem. didnt really think it was, but the documentation was worth posting. the guys over at ubuntu look as though they have dealt with this in great detail, and have produced a few solutions, which may or may not work. i have decided to post these for anyone else who may have these problems.
Solution 1 - new user creation:
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/104521
Solution 2 - config file delete:
    http://ge.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?t=724439
post number 6 here features the config file delete solution, as well as a link to another post which may be useful.
judging by a google search on this problem and the number of responses that came up, the bonobo/daemon error is quite a common curse for the users of gnome, although much more common in distros such as ubuntu or fedora.
i hope that this proves useful and if anyone has anything to add, please feel free. the more documentation the better.
    EDIT:
another solution would be to remove gnome and reinstall it from scratch. (some please tell me if i am doing this correctly. thanks )
    1. clean your catch:
    pacman -Scc
    2. remove gnome, gnome extras, and whatever other gnome files you might have installed
    pacman -Rscn gnome gnome-extra etc...
    3. reinstall gnome and gnome extras
    pacman -Sy gnome gnome-extra
    4. reconfigure your desktop the way you want.

  • After updating to Firefox 3.6.15, Firefox will not connect to the Internet, even after uninstalling and re-installing Firefox in my Windows XP environment.

After downloading the Firefox 3.6.15 update, my problems began. Firefox would not connect to the Internet. When I rebooted my PC, Firefox said that it couldn't access any Web sites. I uninstalled Firefox, then downloaded and installed Firefox 3.6.15. I still have the same problem: Firefox will not connect to the Internet. I am running Windows XP, service pack 3. I never had problems with Firefox until I installed version 3.6.15.

I have XP Pro. I tried installing 3.6.15 and could not open it. I did a system restore and 3.6.14 would no longer open. I tried again installing 3.6.15 and got a message that the previous version had not uninstalled properly. Tried uninstalling.
As a precaution I used MozBackup to save my bookmarks etc. and also saved a system restore point.
I then clicked Start, My Computer, drive C, Program Files and deleted the Firefox folder.
I installed 3.6.15 and it is now working fine with all my bookmarks and addons loaded automatically.

  • Since last upgrade internet history will not clear

SSince last upgrade to my iPhone 4 the internet history will not clear. Tried usual things

I think I've worked out how to fix this. I closed iTunes and ran Photos with the Option/Alt key depressed and told it to use the old iPhoto library as the System photo library. This caused Photos to reimport all the old photos into a new Photos library called Photos Library 2.
When I then ran iTunes and connected my iPad, I got a message saying that the photo source had changed and nothing would be synced until I selected the correct option. This did not happen the previous time I ran Photos and imported the old iPhoto library. I'm now syncing using the second Photos library and it all appears to be working.
I suspect that I closed my laptop down during the original conversion of the iPhoto library (thinking it had finished) and this interrupted the process. This time I let it carry on working for four hours before opening iTunes and I suspect that is what made the difference. Of course, I've lost all the photos I added in the last ten days, but I may be able to retrieve them from my backups.

  • When I click on I Tunes store from my library nothing happens. No matter what I do the I tunes store will not open. What can I do?

I just downloaded the new version of I tunes and I went to the I tunes store. It opened just fine and I was browsing the store. I saw a song I wanted to purchase but I decided to return to my library to make sure that I didn't already have that song. When I clicked on I tunes store to return to the store nothing happened. The store would not open. Now no matter what I do the I tunes store will not open. I don't know what to do about this problem. Please help. This is very frustrating.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ install.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at http:// (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Is this a webpage that contains a link to a flv file? Please post a link to the page and tell us which link(s) are the problem flv files or else post a link to the .flv file itself.
Alternately, click on one of the sample FLV File links on this page and tell us exactly what happens:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html
It might also help if you post the exact error message, including the path to the flv file.
    '''Note:'''
Depending on how you have Firefox set up, clicking on a FLV File link will either save the FLV file to your computer or Firefox may open it automatically in an external application right after downloading (Firefox may ask you first). Firefox itself can't play FLV files so you need a "helper" application (or a plugin for flv files, if ther is one. You can see if Firefox is already set up to download or open FLV files by going to Firefox Preferences and looking in the Applications list. Find the FLV file type in the list and, if the action is "Open with", it should show the application that can play FLV files (e.g., VLC Media Player or Perian). See [[Managing filetypes]] for more information.
