HP AIO 8500 A909n premier wireless printer - phantom paper jam

My 3 year old printer won't work, it keeps telling me there is a paper jam and the local repair guy says it is a motherboard issue.  Is there any other place to send it to for repair?  I'm willing to do that if anyone can do it for under 200!

  • HP LaserJet P3015 phantom paper jam?

    Hi,
We just bought two new HP LaserJet P3015 printers in the last month, one works well while the other seems to have a phantom paper jam.  We seem to notice it when someone is printing a longer document, say 10+ pages.  The printers will stop printing, the red light will come on, and the screen will ask to open the top and remove a paper jam.  Once you open the top and close it, and hit OK, it will continue to print.  I have gone through t he machine top and bottom and cannot find a scrap of paper in there.  The other machine that is working well is using the same type of paper, and actually sees a great volume of printing.
We have updated the drives on the computers. Any suggestions?
    Cheers, Paul

Have you upgraded to the latest Firmware? You can find it here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3815801&...
I didn't notice a specific fix listed for the issue, but it's good to have the latest FW. Also if you have one device that works and one that doesn't, it might be good to see if they have the same FW version. This will be listed on the configuration report.
I also found a reference to a change to the duplexer pan design.

  • Printer shows paper jamming in output bin but no paper visible in 2605dn

printer shows paper jam in output bin---have reset and cleared everything---still shows same.  What now?

In case you missed something, see this:

Try a NVRAM reset: (but make sure u save your n/w config 1st)
    1. power off the printer
    2. holding down the select and cancel buttons and powering on
    3. release buttons when display reads "permanent storage init"

  • Printing on photopaper stops in mid-print, says "paper jam"

    Hello!
I've been trying to print photos on photo papers on the HP Officejet 4355 All-in-One printer.
I've tried the HP Premium Plus and HP Advanced photo paper in the Paper Type, and Best print quality settings, colored.
The paper goes in, prints about an inch of the image (in best wuality), but then the printer will stop and the printer would display an error message "Paper Jam."
I pushed the "Cancel" button, and the printer expelled the paper with no problems (except that i now have a semi-printed photo on my photopaper) and cancelled the print job on the WinXP Printer job dialog box.
I've only placed one paper in the paper tray, so multiple paper in the rollers is not a problem.
I've checked all the rollers. I've aligned and cleaned the cartridges. I have no problem printing on normal (substance 20-24GSM) paper.
I've also tried printing on cards (around 40-80GSM) but the same problem would occur -- paper would go in, will print an inch, stops then printer says paper jam.
How do get the printer to print completely on the photopaper or on any cards?
I've checked the user's manual, so far i have not read any troubleshooting solutions for this problem. Apologies for my long post. I hope you can give me some suggestions.
Thank you very much in advance!
    Warm regards,
    Jade

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @IdahoElk
I read your post about the printer issues you're having with your Officejet 100 Mobile printer. I have a couple of suggestions that may help you.
First of all, power reset the printer and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Also, check out this troubleshooting document. Check the issues to see if you can find the description to what you are seeing on your printer.
Blinking Lights on the HP 100 Officejet Mobile Printers
If the troubleshooting does not help at all, I would lastly suggest technical support.

  • Printer says "Paper jam" (thread was called Dennis)

I print using an Epson R2400.  I have previously printed from Lightroom 4 and CS6 without a problem but today when I try to print from LR4 I get the epson message 'paper jam' but if I switch to CS6, the image gets printed.  Any suggested remedies?

    Hi there kmwrmj,
Try the steps in this article. At a point the directions will also take you through checking for a carriage jam if the error does not go away. Follow them through and let us know if it helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless Printer....indicates a paper jam when there isnt one

Unit was working fine, including wireless.  Now paper jam message keeps reappearing when there isn't a jam.  Any thoughts

If the printer is under warranty, contact HP Support.  If not, it is probably cheaper to buy a new printer than to fix this one.

  • Clearing inaccessible paper jam on OfficeJet 8500

After printing no more than 20 pages on my new OfficeJet 8500 Wifi printer, the paper jammed. I have tried to clear the jam but have not yet succeeded.
Here are details of my problem:
My printed page almost finished feeding out from the printer, but the very end of it is stuck between the rollers. This means that - after removing the ADF - I cannot reach the paper at the back of the printer to pull it out backwards. Since the advice is NOT to pull it forwards, what do I do?
No error message displayed. This worried me!
    Any advice please?
Unfortunately the help page I consulted from HP does not explain how to clear the jam I have. (See "HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier (A909n) and 8500 Wireless (A909g) All-in-One Printers - 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the All-in-One" http://h200003.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01617494&lang=fr&cc=fr&task...

Is it possible to reach inside with long nose pliers or something like that to pull it out from the back? Maybe work it out sideways? Or can you print something that would go through and hopefully dislodge that piece of paper?

    Hi -
I can't tell from your post which specific jam you are experiencing.
I found the following on the HP.com support web site at
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c01450544&jumpi...
On this page are a lot of possible jam causes and solutions.  This one is a description I think sounds similar to your report.
    Common causes of jams
Cause: When printing on lightweight paper or on jobs with heavy toner coverage, paper is wrapping on the fuser causing Fuser Delay Jam or Fuser Wrap Jam messages.
Solution: Set the LIGHT MEDIA optimize mode on the Print Quality menu to ON .

  • Constant Printing Restart on a networked HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909N Series printer

    Hello,
I'm curious if anyone has run into this problem before.  I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n Series printer that I have setup as a network printer.  This has been accomplished through a print server.
I installed the printer's drivers based upon the cd that came with the printer, in the box.
The problem is that whenever a user prints, say it's a simply one page document... the printer will repeatedly print that single page until it runs out of paper.  I have stopped/restarted the print spooler.  I've rebooted the printer and the print server.  I have deleted the drivers and readded them.  I've tried installing drivers from HP's website and then installing those.  I have attempted to delete the printer from the server and start from scratch.
When I monitor the print queue, I can see the service restart after each document prints.  I can't figure out how to get this to stop.
Does anyone have a suggestion; or has anyone run into this problem?  I'm not sure which forum to put this in.  I chose the Networks/Wireless forum, even though this is running on a wired network with wireless disabled.
    I certainly appreciate any asistance.
    -Craig

It ended up being an issue with the port.  I had used the same port as the last HP printer that I replaced.  This printer needs to run on a TCP/IP port, and not an HP port.
    Problem solved.
Oh, and it was wired, with wireless disabled.

The documentation from Apple indicates compatibility with:

    Will  the 8500 A909n work?

  • HP AIO Remote shows wireless printer offline when it is online and can print to it.

HP AIO Remote installed on my Windows 8.1 Yoga 2 shows my wireless printer is offline, when it is online and I can print to it wirelessly.  How can I get it to recognize my wireless printer is online wirelessly?  AIO Remote will only recognize the printer is online when the USB in connected to the Yoga 2.

    Hi rpmcintyre,
Thank you for the additional information.  I apologize for misunderstanding. I just want to confirm that the HP AiO app that you downloaded onto your Windows 8.1 computer is showing your printer as offline when you are able to print wirelessly to the printer.
I have two different documents for you.  The first one is How to Use the HP AiO Remote App for Windows 8.  It has a FAQ section at the bottom of the document with trouble shooting steps.  I have also included the Supported Printers for the HP Scan and Capture App.
If the above documents don’t assist you, would you please let me know which make/model/product number of HP printer that you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
