HP All-in-One Printer: any way to install the TWAIN driver only?

I have an HP PSC 2355 all-in-one Printer/Scanner/Copier.
The Mac OSX software/drivers are a whopping 100MB in size. I really only want to print (which is no problem without installing all of their software) and scan (which I can't seem to do without installing the software.
I can't find a TWAIN driver (which I assume is what I need to scan) by itself. And the installation software doesn't give you a TWAIN-only choice
I've installed the HP software bundle on my old PowerBook (just got a MacBook), I really don't want to litter my new computer with all their useless "features"...
While this is probably a question for HP, thought I'd post it here.

HP Photosmart 2610 All in One Printer Paper feeds OK but the software and sensors are not allowing paper to feed until several steps are taken first.
(I am using Windows 7. I also use the virtual XP mode and mostly MS Office 2003 docs).
I have had this printer for several years and love it. Before I toss it out, I thought I would check if I could get it to work properly before I buy another printer. Note: I did put in a new HP black cartridge (because it was out of ink) but the printer was not working properly for several days before I changed the cartridge. The printer was at step 5 before ink change.
Lately, each time I turn on my printer, I have to go through the same routine
1. The printer wants to align the cartridges so I push OK
2. The paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing.
3. Error message appears that it is out of paper. So I press OK to continue.
4. It says "aligning print cartridges" runs through 2 sheets of blank paper without trying to do anything and then states "cartridge alignment failed" "Press OK to continue"
5. Screen is now normal and it appears it is going to work.
6. It makes no difference if I used the copy function OR when I send a print job from the computer, the paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing but nothing happens.
7. Error message appears that it is out of paper. OR that it is the wrong size paper. I pull the paper that was at the proper place to be printed from the printer and then the error message says "Paper jam. Press OK to continue"
8. I press OK. The printer will then quickly feed in and eject 2 sheets of paper before it will actually start printing the print job. It will work fine after this as long as I print from the same document.
9. If I want to print a different document then I have to start all over again at step 6 to get the printer to work. If I shut the printer off I have to go back to step 1.
What I have already tried
A. Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer driver direct from HP web site. I have done this several times with both the basic driver download and the complete package download.
B. I have done a partial reset by unplugging the printer, and then re-plugging the printer while pushing the "# and 3" buttons while turning on the printer. I have done this several times. Each time it will work fine until I try a different document of turn off the printer.
C. I have downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor and used it several times. It states that "everything checks out OK"
D. I have downloaded the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility 4.0 but it does not work with my printer.
E. I have cleaned all the rollers and blown air throughout to make sure there were no bits of junk in the paper's path or blocking a sensor.
F. I have tried different brands and weights of paper (all 8½ x 11) but nothing works.
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the virtual machine so I could print XP files. This may just be a coincidence because the printer has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer being on.

I just tried using Notepad as you suggested and had the same result. Paper feeds in stops at proper place and error message "out of paper"
I just put in two new HP ink cartridges because the other two were low and I was told that this might be the problem.
I seem to remember that the HP 2610 shows 2 "ink icons" in the lower left corner. One for black and one for color. The ink icons would change from completly full to just an outline as the amount of ink went down. Currently the black ink icon is missing
This is a very frustrating problem because the printer works great after doing a few steps to get around the problem. The fact that the problem reoccurs any time anything is changed is the major problem
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the Windows 7 virtual machine so I could work with Windows XP programs. This may just be a coincidence because the printer still has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer even being on.
I want to thank you for all of your efforts. Perhaps this is a unique problem that will never be solved and it is best to take my losses and buy a new printer. As a last chance, if possible, could you refer my post to someone who is an expert with the HP 2610 printer.

Make sure it is a genuine HP cartridge. Take it out and clean the contact on the cartridge and in the printer. Try again.

Had Christmas pictures of family and friends. I'll be so sad if I can't them back.

You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera, most especially before any update or restore.
If you failed to do this, then they are very likely gone.
You can try restoring from backup

The fax function on my c7280 all-in-one printer ceased working since installing windows 8....?

I read about how you can no longer fax after upgrading to Windows 8. I have a couple of my own suggestion that might help!
1. Uninstall the Printer Software
2. Restart the PC
3. Reinstall the driver for Windows 8 here: HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers
Also, try the troubleshooting steps from this guide: Cannot Send or Receive Faxes
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you, such as a replacement or trade in. My hp officejet 4630 e-All-in-one printer won't connect to the internet

My printer was working fine. I hadn't used it for a few days. Now, all of a sudden it says it's not connected to the internet. I don't know if it's because it's giving a hardware address for MAC or if it has the wrong IP address. I can't figure out any way to give it the new IP address.

OK, that all looks good. Is the firmware updated on the router? Have you restarted the router (pull its power plug momentarily)?

I just purchased the all in one envy 7640 printer and want to print from my lap top but the printing that comes out is very very small and i need to enlarge it, I am not a real computer whiz so I just need step by step instructions on how to enlarge the copy being printed. Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I see that you are trying to enlarge the size of a document you are trying to print. While the specific directions will change depending on your operating system, the program you are using, and the type of document you want to print, I can certainly make sure you get pointed in the right direction. Assuming you are trying to print a text document (and please let me know if you are not) then first you will want to highlight the text you are trying to change the text of. Once highlighted you are looking for an option found at the top of most windows. The option usually has a font name to its left such as Times New Roman. When you select a larger font size it will change the highlighted text so that it matches the size you selected. I've included an image of the option below. If you are trying to print something that is not a text document then please let me know what program you are trying to print from as well as what operating system you are using. If you are not sure what your operating system is you can click here to find it. If you have any other questions please let me know. I'm getting a not-quite crash in which I lose ability to interact with the window at all. Is there any way to fix the problem itself? All I can do is an inconvenient "fix" in which I open a new window, and it works in the second window for some reason.

I'm experiencing a not-quite-crash every time I attempt to open firefox on my new computer. What happens is that the menu bar (which I prefer to have visible instead of that orange single-button menu) has all the letters on it turn gray, and I lose my ability to click anywhere on the page, including to close it. If I attempt to close the page via the taskbar it doesn't let me. It does, however, let me open new windows via the taskbar which don't have the same problem, which allows for an easy-but-inconvenient fix. I've tried it out and it does not have the same problem in Safe Mode. As a result of not being a "true" crash I can't give a crash ID, so you won't be able to trace it that way, sorry.

''Problem:'' For whatever reason, NoScript is stopping Runescape Community Toolbar from working properly which freezes your first Firefox window.
''Fix:'' Uninstall the toolbar. Disable NoScript. Install the toolbar. Add your RS account to it and make sure it works, then Enable NoScript again.

Lj cm1415 All-in-One printer software will not install in Windows XP

Have windowsxp and no problem with my printer and scanner, lj cm1415fnw, then the scanner stopped working.
my IT guy uninstalled and now we can't install. Error message, does not support this windows software?

Is there any way to change the disc drive region after the 5th time?

I wasn't aware that you can only change the drive region 5 times before it becomes permanent. So now mine is set for region 2 (Europe), and all but 1 of my DVD's are region 1 (North America). Is there any way at all to undo the 'permanent' region setting now?

I don't think so. You can search in the wild and untamed Internet if there are hacks. I seem to recall coming across some years ago, but those may have been for PCs and resetting device firmware. The danger is if something foes wrong then the drive is totally dead. www.xlr8yourmac.com/ might be a good place for a Mac.
Some ideas (I have no idea if they will get around the issue for sure):
Try playing with VLC media player. VLC media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - general media player that plays just about anything.
Try buying an external DVD drive.

Ipod touch will sync with one computer at a time. If you sync to another then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.

Hp officejet all in one printer 4500 G510n problem downloading software and driver

When i download the software and drivers for the officejet 4500, G510n, and attemp to extract the file it will not open indicating that the file is corrupt. I have tried it numerous times using both my AOL browser and Internet Explorer. Any suggestions Thank You.

I understand that you are having a problem with downloading the driver for your HP Officejet 4500 printer on Windows XP. I am happy to look into this issue for you!
When you finish the download, it should show how big the file size is. Does it show that the file is 224.69M after it is finished downloadng? Perhaps, it is stopping the download before it finishes. I would recommend trying another browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome.
What version of Windows XP are you are using? If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos. Is it 32-bit or 64-bit? Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

The black ink cartridge will not stay in place it keeps popping out when I place the color ink cartridge first. When I take the color cartridge out and put the black ink cartridge in it stays.
