HP all screwed up AGAIN..
Some years ago I bought some HP equipment and had no end of problems with this crap.
I vowed never again - but I went and bought another HP product - must have my bloody head read!
The same story all over again - bought a Deskjet printer D1663. Simply can not be installed - i called the seller shop who told me that the software included in the package is wrong and i should download some installation software from the net.
Tried that also - 4 days later - still only get error messages... HP is really a crappy company that sells crappy printers... If there is any one out there that cpould help me get this installed I'd appreciate this - but will never undestand why this has to be so complicated.
Never - Never again - bought a nice laptop also - today, but not an Hp thats for sure.

What operating system do you have? What are the error messages when you try to install downloaded software - do you get the error when trying to download or when trying to install?

Forums are all screwed up (again)

If a user selects to view 'no reply' posts, then many of them have been deleted - why then do they appear at all in the listing? It is completely stupid to list a number of posts appearing to be there only to constantly get a 'This item has been deleted.'
page. Example:
The display information on post is also screwed up. For example, the header below show 5 replies, yet open the thread and there are actually 6 replies.
And *why* do blank lines get stripped out?

The remark about deleted posts I made was only one of many. I probably saw 5 or 6 on the first couple of pages. It is just a right pain in the a*** to have to reload several times due to the 'server error' pages only to find it to be a deleted post.

The blank lines removal seems a bit of an overkill when the forum allows loooong code listings, many images and etc - the blank line removal isn't really saving any space in the main.

Itunes colors on screen all screwed up
i recently upgraded to the new itunes 8.0 or something and now the colors in the itunes window is all screwed up, like pink and green. it goes away if i click on it but if i click again it comes back. i tried reinstalling but it didnt work...help?
Change the monitor's bitdepth to 32 bit from the Control Panel.

Hello.
I like to think of myself as a very proficient Macintosh user. However, from time to time, things stump me. This is one of those things.
So, I was manually adding some folders (the way iTunes likes to organize them, by artist titled folders) in the proper directory (iTunes was open) but my songs didn't show up. So, I closed it and opened it back up again. Nope, nothing. So I moved the iTunes Database File (what is this file??? please explain what this is even for..) one directory up. Big mistake... All my stuff was gone. So I thought that at this point it wasn't too bad, because I thought I could reverse it back. I was wrong. I moved it back and it just converted the original database file to the new one (the one with no songs)! So now I have a new database file that has lost all the information that I needed. Maybe I would better understand the issue if I knew what those were really for. But aha! I didn't stop there. I impulsively trashed iTunes' .plist file. Now I was really in for it! Not only were all my songs "gone" (I know, I know, they're not gone, I have them all neatly organized in folders by artists, it's just that iTunes can't see them) but I was about to go through a set up wizard. But I didn't stop there! I completed the setup wizard, making one mistake along the way: To have iTunes search for my music for me and import it. So now I have every audio file being imported into my library, but they would go in by doubles, triples, and sometimes even quadruples! I got really scared then. iTunes gave me a warning saying that there wasn't enough room for it to copy all the music into it's library. Good! I don't want it to! (Does it mean copy, literally? Like duplicate? Would that explain the pairs that were imported?) So now I am really all screwed up. Ahh, the consequences of mucking with files you shouldn't be mucking around with. While it was determining gapless playback information, I stopped it. Somehow, the duplicates went away, I think. But there are still lots left. What should I do? Where can I startover? I don't like this! I just want the music in my iTunes music folder to be put into my library exactly how it is. PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8)If I remember your problems started when you moved things from within the Finder. The plist was just fine. If you trash the plist then iTunes will generate a fresh default plist. You will need to set your prefs before continuing. The Library file is related to the data base of tunes not your prefs. The plist is related to your prefs and not your Library file.
You should be able to open iTunes - blank library in the main window then 'add' the tunes back into the library. You can use the File menu 'Add to Library' (+O) or you can navigate via the finder to the tunes and drop them into the main iTunes window. +O is the easiest for me. You will get the same result. Navigate from within iTunes - not the Finder. iTunes will ask you the path.
Now comes the potential messy part. If you grab an folder that has multiple albums in it - i.e.: Beatles White album + Sgt. Peppers - and add those to the library at the same time you will likely get the tunes out of album order- iTunes will add a couple of White Album then a couple of Sgt. Peppers then a couple of White etc. If using the 'Date Added' as the view then it looks really disorganized. So if that is a view that you normally use and order is important to you then it will take some time to add tunes back in an orderly fashion. If order is not important and using the sort by 'Album' is suitable for you then never mind. Try a couple and you will see what I mean. You can add multiple folders back at the same time if you want.

HELP my bill is all screwed up 2 months in a row
with taxes and everything my bill is supposed to be $72 and some cents per month, thats what is has been ever since i started with Alltel over 3 years ago
last month i talked to Verizon and made a deal to upgrade to a new phone for FREE , they said i would be able to keep my Alltel plan and there would be no extra charges so i agreed to it
the next thing that happened was Verizon accidently shut my Alltel phone off for no apparent reason, i happened to have a spare phone that i was able to call them with, at first they denied that my phone had been shut off but after some further checking they found out it really was shut off, they apologised for the mistake and turned it back on
well when the new FREE phone that i had agreed to arrived verizon tech told me that in order to activate the phone i would have to add a data plan to my account for an extra $25 a month, i simply cannot afford another $25 a month so because of thier mistakes they agreed to take the phone back and charge me nothing
when the next bill came in the mail it was $178, the online bill for some reason was even more, so i called Verizon again and the first person i talked to said yes i owed all that money and there was nothing she could do about it, so i wait awhile and call Verizon again and talk to someone else, they agree the bill is a mistake and ask me to give them some time to get it taken care of and also supposedly give me a $25 customer satisfaction credit, a few days later my bill changes to $16.97 which is actually less than it should have been but after all this grief i just want it over with so i pay it online and it says in big green letters PAID IN FULL
next month the bill is screwed up again, they added stuff from the paid in full bill to the next months bill, total is now $95.62 instead of the $72 its supposed to be, thats about $23 more than its supposed to be and if you figure in the supposed $25 customer satisfaction credit that i never really recieved it amounts to about a $48 over chargebudone wrote:

You only get one F&F number for your 500 minute plan??? That must be an OLD Alltel plan. Mine came with ten and now I have 12. $40 for plan, $25 for data, $25 for messaging.
well my Alltel plan is just over 3 years old, at the end of 2 years i was supposed to get another free friends and family number but Verizon refuses to let me have it, i never have a over minutes problem but i feel they owe me the free friends and family number and should be happy to give it to me but thats not the case

with my plan i tether my phone to my computer for unlimited internet $25 a month, the only bad thing is it will not work with anything newer than windows XP so someday i might have to upgrade, hopefully internet cost will come down before then -
After iOS 5 upgrade my "artists" are all screwed up on my iPhone but are fine on my iTunes. ANY SOLUTIONS?? HELP!!
I had a similar problem to you that I have since solved.
At first only some albums/songs were missing artwork but they all showed up fine in itunes. I went into itunes and did the view where the album art is displayed next to the album in a list, middle option for viewing. I found that on several 1-2 songs did not have the artwork attached and so that was the cause of it not showing up on my iphone. However after I got all that solved I found that the artworks were all messed up. Much like you described many songs had the complete wrong artwork and some songs on the same album had different artworks or the same artwork showed up on multiple albums.
I could only come up with resyncing my iphone to solve it. I only use one playlist for my iphone so that I can sort of do manual management and only have to deal with one playlist. So I unchecked the playlist and did a sync to clear off all the audio. Then I rechecked the playlist and did a sync to reload everything and after that was done everything appeared correctly.
I didn't notice if this was affecting any of my purchased albums, I don't have that many so I didn't think about it but affected a lot of them. I hope this helps in some way and that you can get it working again. -
I have had a reinstall nightmare getting my loops back they are in the apple library, I can access them through the media browser but I only have a few available through the loop browser, how do I get them all back there again? please help

They will only be where you put them If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country. You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located. -
My wife and I share an iTunes account. Is there any way to set up a seperate one for her to sync her phone contacts, iCloud and music to without having to purchase all her music again and then share going forward?
It would be so much easier having seperate accounts but we have hundreds of her purchased songs on my account and she would need to be able to access these from her account. Possible?
Also, if we bought a song in future we would want to be able to both have access to it.
Alternatively, what is the easy way to sync two distinctly different contact lists to one iTunes account?

You can but you will not be able to limit what she syncs.
I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
I don't recommend using (only) the checkmarks to select what to sync.
Each of you can create your own playlists then sync only those playlists.
Then add/delete from your own playlists to change iPod content.
The only time I uncheck items is if I rarely/never want to sync them to anything, such as Christmas music or old audiobooks.
I suggest you each have your own computer login account. Then everyone has their own contacts, calendars, and everything else.
You and your husband can share an iTunes library and let your daughter have her own. -
I am going to restore my Macbook Pro to it's factory condition. I do this every once in a while because it seems to improve performance. I backup everything to an external drive and then I restore only what I want from my backup drive. In iTunes I have renamed a lot of my songs. Last time I cleaned off my mac and restored/reloaded my music I had to rename all those songs again. It took me about 2 weeks to reorganize my music. How do I get iTunes to remember all of those names and keep everything exactly the same when I restore/reload the music into iTunes?

Use Time Machine, backup everything, do the reinstall (I recommend you don't do it) then restore your user folder with Time Machine. -
I just downloaded the newest reconfigured version of iTunes, and for the first time ever my content is all screwed up. Specifically, all of my playlists are gone, so are my apps. The good news is that my music library is intact and that I've got more than one device with everything as it should be on them; the bad news is that my PC does not recognise my devices and keeps defaulting to " lets sync your devices to this new computer loose all of the playlists I've spent years compiling". I don't get it. Any ideas?

How can I leave a group in iMessage?
I delete the group in iMessage because I don't want to receive any more messages.
Nevertheless, whenever a member sends a message, I get all the messages again. I have only deleted the previos messages.
In the users manual, they only tell how how to create a group, but not how to leave it.

HP Photosmart C3180 prefs all screwed up
After doing the latest 10.5.6 updates, the printer has gotten all screwed up. It now prints in magenta and white. it won't remember presets and changes the presets I do have. I want to do fast draft B&W printing for invoices from Quickbooks and it keeps reverting to photopaper, high res and color ink. Is there any way to erase the prefs and start over?

It's a 2.5 Ghz Intel iMac.If the above doesn't work see if there is a Quickbooks preference plist in home/library/preferences. Trash it and relaunch Quickbooks.

Text-selection mechanism all screwed up in KeyNote 6.2
Trying to select text with shift + arrowkeys, or shift + alt + arrowkeys, is all screwed up in KeyNote 6.2 (OS X). The text selection often jumps forward in an erratic manner (much too far ahead than usual, often skips entire words).
Trying to de-select text using the arrowkeys, also produces unexpected results. Sometimes the cursor even automagically skips ahead one character position.
Personally, this bugs the @@@@ out of me when trying to type text. And often I even loose important parts of my texts entirely.Try this Keynote repair, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1 delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application
2 restart the Mac; Apple menu > restart
3 immediately after the start chime, press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4 when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click repair disc permissions
5 when complete, restart the Mac normally
6 install Keynote from the Mac App Store -
Fonts all screwed up in Mail because of Fontbook?
So i added a whole bunch of fonts to my Fontbook so that i could, you know, use them, but then when i opened up my Mail, the fonts were all screwed up. i changed them back in Mail preferences, which fixed most everything, but left the headers in the body of the email all in gobbledygook. anyone know what to do? thanks!
