HP Battery, Is It OK to keep the charger plugged in ?

Hi All
This is my first question here and I hope you'll help me
I want to ask if it is OK to keep the charger plugged in the laptop while the battery is full ?
I mean when the battery is 100%, will the energy go directly to the PC or it will go to the battery before ?
This question was solved.

Hi,
Nowadays batteries should be smart enough to stop getting charged when full. I can't see the difference from removing and keeping batteries on AC, some machines sit on docking stations all the times and some machines can be ON/OFF. This is my reply to another post:

  • My early 2011 MacBook Pro says battery not detected and does not work with a new battery either. Works only with the charger plugged in.

About a year back i had replaced the MLB of my early 2011 macbook pro and it was all working fine. A month back my battery went dead saying "Battery Not Detected". I went to Ample technologies, Bangalore, India and gave it for diagnosis. Ample technologies are the authorized Apple support service in Bangalore, India. After 3 days and no phone calls they email me that "They feel that the MLB MIGHT be the problem and they want to test it by replacing the MLB and i have to pay for their testing". I had already spent 40k indian rupees ($700) less than a year back to replace an MLB and now they want to replace it again at the cost of 43k ($750) indian rupees. I have no idea what to do now. Spending 80k indian rupees ($1400) in less than a year to replace the MLB twice sounds unfair to me. Can someone help me out here ? Is there a valid warranty period applicable , since i have changed the MLB a year back ?

short of doing a SMC reset, you maybe at their mercy.

You can leave the charger plugged in, as you cannot overcharge...charging automatically stops when your battery is full. Once every 2 ~ 3 months, its a good idea to drain the battery to about ~ 40%, then recharge to full. Otherwise, you can charge whenever you like & leave connected whenever you like.
Try to avoid full battery discharges, Lithium batteries don't like that & frequent full discharge/recharge cycles will eventually kill your battery.

  • Does it adversely effect the battery to keep the IPad plugged in when fully charged?

Does it adversely effect the battery to keep the IPad plugged in when fully charged?

Copied from Texas Mac Man ...
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Anyone else have a problem with the charging plug catching on the aluminum backplate?

Relatively new Ipad - after charging the unit, disconnected the charging plug and it caught on the backplate.  Anyone else have this problem?

This problem arose today.  When I removed the plug, the plug pulled on the Ipad2, specifically the thin aluminum strip between the plug's receptical and the Ipad2's front.  No functional damage...the unit still works and charges, but now that thin aluminum strip is displaced.  The plug itself appears to be the culprit.  Looking at the plug that connects to the Ipad2 (the side with the graphic), there are 2 areas which I presume provides tension when the plug is inserted into the unit.  One of those areas is displaced, and became caught with the thin aluminum strip during the plug's removal.

  • Am i supposed to keep the charger in my macbook air

I started charging it when it was at 30%. its now at 100% and I've kept the charger in. Is this good for the battery life or should i remove it once it is at 100%...? and is it okay to begin charging around 20-30%??

its perfectly fine to keep it plugged in when it reaches 100%, and yes, recharging between 20-30% is also ok.  Read this for more information: https://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html

  • After charging iphone it keeps the charging symbol

    Hello guys,
With my Iphone 4S I have this strange "problem" , after the update to IOS 7.1 it appeared.
When I charge the Iphone to 100% and I disconnet the cable (original apple) it keeps saysing that it is being charged, (the charging symbol is there) and after a few hours the battery percentage drops with 30% and then finally the charging symbol goes away..
This is what I tried already.
    - Full restore
    - Hard reset
    - Battery drain and fully charging
    - Other cable
So yes, I need your help to fix this or to come up with some ideas that I can try..
    Thank you in advance.

Long shot but try cleaning your iPhone's connector.
Else, restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • Is there any way to keep the charge indicator bar onscreen in the lock screen in IOS7? And can I keep the call in progress screen up instead of going to wallpaper while a call is dialing?

IOS6 had a charge indicator bar on the lock screen that allowed me to see at a gance how much charge I had. Now it only flashes onscreen when I first connect the charger for about 1-2 seconds. I know the icon in the top right shows percentage, but it is too small to get an accurate look.
Also, when a call is in the progress of dialing my phone just shows the wall paper instead of the whole call control screen. I can hit the home button then hit the return to call bar at the top of the screen to get the control screen, but that is annoying to say the least. If I accidentally dial a number while navigating my contacts or one of the apps it takes several steps to cancell the call before completion.
I know my wallpaper may be pretty, but I don't need to see it while trying to use the phone instead of having control of the phone or seeing desired information (charge indicator).

I have a similar issue. Sound works okay but keep getting the app not optimized, you may experience a decrease in celluar strength. Verizon says it is a software issue. Apple says it is a hardware. Phone will niot synch to itunes to do any kind of reset.

  • Is it okay to keep the Droid plugged in when it's finished charging?

My old feature phone would warn me to unplug it when it was charged as to avoid "overcharging."  However, with this phone, I assume that it stops charging when full since the lightning bolt goes away and the LED turns green.
I like to leave it plugged in when I'm at my desk or overnight when I'm sleeping.  I figure I use less of the battery cycles that way too.
Anyone know if this is bad practice?

Did u just get ur incredible if so there is a Tag that is attached to the cord that Says:

  • Should I keep the headphones plugged in at all times

I have a classic 160GB iPod, which is really cool. I have since I brought it kept the headphones connected to avoid damage to the amplifier chip ..... do I need to be concerned. I have a Bose Sound dock and still keep the headphones connected when I dock ... again do I need to ?
Finally I have just brought a Digital radio adapter which uses the docking connector but it has a headphone output which also acts as an aerial for the digital radio. So the question is do I need to use both headphone sockets or should I take care to avoid damaging the output amplifiers by not having headphone output impedance .....
Any help appreciated from Apple engineering support to re-assure me

Huh!?? What are you talking about?

No, you can safely unplug them. Besides, in my opinion, leaving headphones plugged in all the time risks physical damage to the headphone jack in the iPod from bumps and what not. Also I have heard several cases of people accidentally breaking off the headphone plug inside the headphone jack.

    Hi,
It's the charger. iPad Minis use Lightning cables, which are truly the most unreliable cables ever used to charge a device! I've gone through seven in a year.
The iPad should be fine. Try some other cables. If they fail, go to an Apple Store and hopefully they can help.
Hope this helps and Happy Holidays!
