Hp blackbird 002 Recovery

Hello,
Please forgive my ignorance, rather new at this. I bought my Blackbird in 2008 and accidently dropped water inside of it in 2011. Been sick for years but now I have everything working again. I had to reformat my drives and I cannot find my recovery disk. So now I have to start from scratch and I cannot get the original "Driver and Application" CD installed. When I click on the "Install Me First" folder and follow instructions, it will not come up. It states that my Windows does not recognize this version. All my manuals point to the fact that I have a unique Bios and need to install this folder first, then the drivers need to be installed, and then I can update. Also the original DVD drive is recognized but not working properly so I am using the DVD drive I bought afterwards to do this install. If you have any direction I can go with this, I would be grateful.

HP bought Voodoo PC and shortly after the Blackbird went on sale HP closed it down. No Voodoo PC to contact as a result.
Your bios is not all that unique. It allowed the motherboard to run AMD or nVidia graphics cards, nothing more. The "unique" bios does not require ANY special software to be installed for recovery of the OS or any other reason. If you have a Windows CD that is all that is needed for OS recovery, NOTHING more.
You are most likely are having a hardware failure of some sort, motherboard or hard drive is my guess, especially since motherboards hate liquids of any kind and in computer years it is VERY old. Mine went up in June of this year and I purchased my Blackbird in March, 2008. That was by far the longest I have had one last.
Lastly, I do have that useless  Driver and Application CD. You are welcome to it. It will not help you though. PM me if you like.

  • BSOD's and boot errors on HP Blackbird 002

    Hello,
I have a HP BLACKBIRD 002 LC with Quad Core - Intel(R) Core2(TM) Quad-Core 2.4GHz Q6600, 2 GB 1066MHz CORSAIR PC2-8500 DDR2 SDRAM, ASUS Striker Extreme, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, with 768MB of GDDR3 SDRAM running Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate.
I’ve had it since December 2007 and have had no problems whatsoever until this past December (2011).  Around the 30th or 31st of December, I started getting Blue Screens of Death (BSOD’s) at random points all with multiple and variable errors.  I’ve tried going into SAFE mode and SAFE mode with networking to resolve the issue, but would eventually get a BSOD.  Sometimes now, it won’t even power on the monitor or it shuts down completely when I try to enter the BIOS setup.  Other times, it boots into the NVIDIA boot agent and then exits due to some error.
Prior to December 2011 and the errors, I did not install any new hardware nor any major software, besides routine software upgrades that would pop up.  I conducted weekly scans with AVG virus software.  Last major thing I did was uninstall a game.
Since then I have tried changing the power source cabling, checking the seating of components and cabling inside, recovering Windows to earlier images (20 and then 15 December), re-installing Windows, replacing the CMOS battery, and running whatever memory or hardware diagnostic tools that I can find in the internal menus and the Vista CD.  My brother-in-law, who works as an IT help desk guy, took a look at it remotely and couldn’t figure it out.  I sent him some of the Minidump files(which I still have and can send) and the best he could isolate was consistent errors in the Minidump files with this “ntkrnlpa.exe    ntkrnlpa.exe+1026e0    0x82411000    0x827cb000    0x003ba000    0x4ea6b87e .”
I did not make a recovery disc since the shadow copy backed everything up.  I do have a full system image from earlier in December that I can use to recover my files, so at this point I’m fine with restoring the factory settings if that’s even possible.
I have no idea what to do next, so would appreciate any advice.  Thanks.

I'd pull the "backplane" (the PCB out) and run power and data cables to the drives which I would keep in there caddys.
...and as you said if you need the LED lighting, you can always find a power source for those somewhere.

  • HP Blackbird 002 gaming system restart problem

Product name:  HP Blackbird 002 LCi
Backbround:  Fantastic machine and very expensive.  When I bought it, I was told by HP that it will have tech support (not necessarily free) for life as long as HP was in business.  Apparently no longer supported according to three HP techs, Shsma, Mangish and Ajfhat.  So here I am.  I have upgraded harddrives and the operating system, from original Ultimate Vista, to Windows 7, to Windows 8 throughout the years.  Works like a charm.
Problem:  I have had this problem with all three operating systems.  When ever there is a power failure or I shut down the computer, the led lights within the case blink constantly and I am unable to turn it back on by pressing the power button.  I have to unplug the computer, wait a while, plug it back in, then press the power button.  Then and only then, does it kick in and starts.  Is it the power supply?  Is it the motherboard?  Or is it, something simpler, like the battery on the motherboard?
By the way, the front of the case has two buttons.  The left one has the power symbol.  The right one has a circle with a triangle inside symbol.  If it is the power supply can someone direct me to where I can purchase it?
    Thanks!

    HPB, welcome to the forum.
Do you have the computer plugged into a surge supressor?  If not, using one may solve part of your problem.  However, if there have been many power failures, it may have damaged your power supply unit (PSU).  Here is HP PartSurfer to see if you can locate the PSU.  I am not familiar with the Blackbird, so I don't know what type of PSU it has installed.

  • Liquid cooler fans on blackbird 002

I would like to know how to check out the liquid cooling system. At the current time my system overheats rather rapidly ( about 10 min. ) I need to check pump, liquid levels and power at source of pump. The radiator fans are working and so are all other fans.Is there a quick way to tell if the pump works. It may be the motherboard but I hope not. I also can't figure out how  to pull out the main fans and get to the radiator.

HWMonitor picks up 3 different fan speeds for fans 0,1,and 2. #1 was running at about 700 rpm 2 at 3200 rmp and 3 at 700 rpm. I have a striker extreme motherboard, and two wires coming off of the part of the cooler mounted to the CPU, a green and black are connected to a terminal identified as CHA FAN1. Is this the power to the pump? I don't think it is showing up on HWM.I am going to call asus but if you have any recommendations please let me know.PS CPU core 1and 2 temps got over 101 deg F and machine shut down.I may try testing voltage output at CHA FAN1on the mother board.

  • The NextBench.VoodooPC/HP Blackbird Forum? What happened to it?

    3DFuzion here from the NextBench,
What ever happened to The NextBench VoodooPC/HP Blackbird Forum?  I understand HP changes alot with layouts and forums but there's nothing on the site and all prior posts are outdated. Is this the new place to call home for HP Blackbird/Voodoo PC system owners?  Is their a section on this forum for HP Blackbird support?

Thanks for the knowledge base GTODave. My new home has been over at the EVGA forums and 411overkill.com HP departed early on in the gaming market that's nothing new. You would figure a multi-million dollar business would have a gaming face to put on to compete in the market place but they simply don't anymore. This forum looks like Dell's generic

  • Wiring Blackbird SATA backplane to a new PSU

I have a rebuilt Blackbird.  In order to get more 12V on a single rail, I had to replace the original ToPower PSU, which was limited to 20A or so.
Unfortunately, the cable plumbing power to the Blackbird's SATA backplane is proprietary to the old PSU.  It expects an 8-pin SATA/IDE jack on the PSU, with the 3.3V control line at a particular pin on that jack.
While pulling the SATA backplane ("BLACKBIRD BACKPLANE REV 3.0" according to the PCB) to wire my drives directly, however, I noticed several other power connectors on the PCB: two IDE-style 4-pin, along with a SATA type. Neither was connected in the original system, the original power cable having run to a non-standard 10-pin Molex on the board.  Would some or all of these other connectors suffice to power the backplane?  If so, what are their pinouts?  Standard?
    Thanks for any advice offered.

  • The GeForce 8800 GT

    I own a 2006 mac pro.
I was very happy when I ordered on 9 jan a GeForce 8800 GT.
I was disappointed when on 11 jan I had to cancel my order because the card would not work in a 2006 mac pro.
I just wandered if it is not possible for a third vendor to bring a videocard to the market for older mac pro's with the quality of a GeForce 8800 GT or better.
    Iemke

It really is funny how it really does feel to me that my Vista Bootcamp experiment on my 8-core is really going to have a referendum within this video card situation. Because for me, it's not even really about this 8800GT in particular. It's about the possibilities for a new card after that and how much of a living breathing investment the Mac Pro will be for Windows as time moves on. For these reasons (as absolutely ridiculous as it sounds - and I know it might seem to some), I'm actually contemplating a Blackbird 002 8-core machine and just calling it a day after this.
I think what we may be seeing play out here is the viability of Bootcamp as time moves on with your Mac hardware. If Apple doesn't either generate a third party interest in developing video cards (which is hard with EFI and the issues that others have gone over more intelligently than I could) or make card upgrades available in the future on their own, Pro users & gamers may begin to feel that the Windows on Mac Hardware option is initially fun, but ultimately a longer-term failure - feeling that it is perhaps better suited to those who just want to work in MS Office and play a few games now and then...
I'm hoping for the best, because otherwise it's rather a seismic shift in thinking for me and time to consider using that since abandoned input on the KVM switch that used to have a Gaming PC plugged in.
Love Apple since my Mac SE days. And I still do. Running both OS's on the same machine and having all the peripherals, FW800 audio interfaces, etc. all available in Vista is the most amazing computing thing that has happened to me in a long time. But if I'm eventually going to have to switch out to a separate machine eventually due to being stuck in the mud re: graphics, etc. as time moves on in my Windows life, I'd rather do it now than suffer through future newsgroup chats and rumor-forum analysis of compatibility. Life's too short. Steve Job's email on the subject (in the other discussion thread) makes a big difference to me and I'll be anxiously listening for the answer.

  • What is the going Rate $$$ for Contract work?

Sorry, I know this is a bit off topic but I was interested in taking a survey of what contractors are getting paid in Ontario, Canada for this type of work. I just completed my contract with a well established international company but the problem is I'm going through via a consulting company. I'm reflecting now if I was on target with my rate of pay. After I've done the work, feels like I should have asked for more (I know, isn't that always the case!) but would still like to learn what is out there as a respectable rate. I've been told this is a very specialized skill so before I continue to take on other work, I would feel more comfortable with learning what other people are charging for contract work.
    Many thanks.

blackbird production was relatively short lived.  as i remember it,  blackbird case sales by hp were rare and were for $1000 when they decided to sell the first case only purchases. 99% of the blackbird case only sales  were sold on ebay by voodoo pc under the name DAC Computer after hp decided to shut voodoo down.  DAC Comupter also sold all remaining blackbird components on ebay. any blackbird cases not purchased from hp directly were purchased from DAC Computer at the demise of voodoo pc. i did purchase quite a few things from DAC and still have a brand new case  (spare )among other things from them.

quake 3 is probably my all time favorite game. played it for many years. when i was playing it hardware and ping were king. if you remeber quake 3 was used for benchmarking as it was far ahead of the hardware at the time.  i use my computer mainly for gaming.  i do think this board is very useful for the many members that frequent it but i just don't feel it should be used  to sell hp computers to people who would be better off with another brand that may or may not be cheaper. in this instance of a novice hardcore gamer asking for information i feel the response should include recommendations of other manufacturers, (who do not use porprietery components and would offer sli expansion), to look into instead of merely answering the specific questions. in this instance i feel the poster should look into alienware, falcon northwest and precision micro as they will have systems in the price range of what hp would charge for the spec system mentioned but would better accomodate updates down the road. just my opinion. you do a great job on here dave, just thought i would add my 2 cents as i have configured systems on the hp site and saw what they price at..............btw, have you gotten q3 to play on win7 or tried quake live?

  • WoW Cataclysm: Please Post Here!

This thread is dedicated to getting people ready for the new WoW.  This way all these threads can be condensed down a bit.  First off is system requirements:
    Minimum specs:
    Windows XP 32bit (SP3), Windows XP 64bit (SP2), Windows Vista 32bit (SP1), Windows Vista 64bit (SP1):
Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500
    1GB or more of RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® FX or ATI Radeon™ 9500 video card or better
DirectX-compatible sound card or motherboard sound capability
25 GB free hard drive space
You must have an active broadband Internet connection to play
    Recommended specs:
    Windows XP 32bit (SP3), Windows XP 64bit (SP2), Windows Vista 32bit (SP1), Windows Vista 64bit (SP1) Windows 7:
Dual-core processor, such as the Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2
2 GB RAM (2 GB for Vista users)
3D graphics processor with Vertex and Pixel Shader capability with 256 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600 or ATI Radeon™
2600 or better DirectX-compatible sound card or motherboard sound capability
    Broadband Internet connection
Multi-button mouse with scroll wheel recommended
I seriously considered not puting in minimum specs because the game will run very poorly for you.  I will do my best to translate to you what you want for the game to play smoothly (this is not the end of all lists, just some guidelines to follow):
2 GB of RAM, 4 GB preferrably
A graphics card that is from any of the following series: Nvidia: 8600 (512MB or higher) and up, 9600 and up, GT240 and up, GT340 and up, any G400 or G500 series card. ATI/AMD: ATI 3400 and up, ATI 4400 and up, ATI 5000 series, ATI 6000 series*
Dual Core CPU with 2Ghz or better speed
*A better power supply may be needed on some models of graphics cards, integrated graphics may be used but resolutions and graphics settings will have to be turned way down.
