HP C309 blocked by McAfee HIPS

We have encountered an issue for users with HP C309 series printers and McAfee HIPS. One of the critical network IPS signatures is to block UDP Port Scans and then blocks access to the device for 10 minutes. The problem is this printer is doing UDP port scans roughly every 13 minutes and is being blocked. Can UDP scanning be disabled on the printer?

Of all the research I've done most state that they just disable McAfee in order to print and in your case I don't think this is an option. Hopefully this helps if not we'll just keep looking for a solution.

Import Word blocked by McAfee VirusScan

I'm trying to do an Import > Word Document, and the import
script is being blocked by my McAfee Virus Scan with a lovely "A
Suspicious Script Has Been Detected" message. The options to "Allow
entire script this time" does not do anything, as the import has
apparently already been aborted.
I have turned off Virus Scan, and Exited from McAfee Security
Center, but the dang thing still keeps popping up when I try to
Import.
Does anyone know how to get around this or how to REALLY turn
off McAfee Virus Scan?

I use McAfee Anti Virus.This doesn't sound like an Oracle question.
You should probably ask McAfee about this.

IPod touch 5g blocked by mcafee

I have mcafee total protection and it came up on my screen that mcafee blocked my iPod and now it won't sync to my windows 8 pc

Ive been using Lookout for the past 4 or so years and have had no trouble with it in the last 3 or so years. The only trouble which was at the beginning of my using it was their Push Notification Detector which is not part of the Mobile Security App anymore. There are others as well. AVG, Webroot both make excellent products as well and both offer apps.

Issues with McAfee IPS and HP PhotoSmart Premium C309g-m performing port scan

Trying to run a HP PhotoSmart Premium C309g-m printer wirelessly and connect to a laptop computer with Windows 7 32-bit operating system. Printer is available for about 3 and a half minutes and then is blocked by McAfee because the printer is trying to perform a UDP port scan. The IP address of the printer is blocked for 10 minutes and then becomes available again. After about 3 and a half minutes, the printer IP address is again blocked by McAfee IPS for 10 minutes and the cycle repeats again. Goes on all day. Difficult to get any work done. Anyone have a fix to stop the port scans? Thanks

I understand when you scan a document, it takes longer and the background is black with horizontal white lines or a greenish background. I will do my best to assist you! First, I need to find out your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?
How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB?
Please make sure you have followed this entire HP document on Color or Brightness Level of Scanned Image is Not Correct. I would like to test out the hardware within your printer. Try copying a blank document on the scanner glass. Let me know if you have the same results. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

Premiere Elements 12 will not launch while using McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention Service

We are planing to use Adobe Premiere Elements 12 in our corporate enviornment and it appears as though the product installs without issue but fails to launch. After troubleshooting the issue it appears as though the application is trying to do something that the McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention Service is catching and thus preventing the application from launching. If the McAfee HIPS service is stopped the application will launch without issue - so far we have been unable to identify the reason for this and were hopeful this may have been brougt up before?

How do you unblock firefox from McAfee

I was changing the screen saver and clicked block in McAfee instead of allow this program. Now only a white screen appear which would not let me connect to firefox. It says, "Cannot find server" everytime I try to connect.

I Clicked in Configuring McAfee Internet Security, but it was not helpful because my McAfee interface is completely different. I really can't find Program Permissions in my McAfee Security Center. I'm sending a print, it's version 11.0 compilance 11.0.586 portuguese.

Anyconnect and any HIPS

So I find out that all my problems with HIPS and Anyconnect are due to incompatibility between McAfee HIPS and Cisco. Has anyone else seen this? Is there a workaround?

It's a bit tricky if you want a granular authentication and authorization, but it works.
I'm running an ASA with IPSec, SSL Client and Clientless SSL.
Each of those VPNs with username/one-time-password and certificate based authen.
The main challenge is to build up a clean structure of Profile Maps, Connection Profiles, Group Policies and Dynamic Access Policies.

McAfee NetProtect/Net Protect Parental Controls vs...

Dear All,
My 14 year old has inadvertantly discovered a way to circumvent the YouTube block on McAfee, which was preventing him from loading YouTube videos.
If you are on a Google search page and click the new "app launcher" grid menu, you can access YouTube directly from Google without being logged in, thereby bypassing every filter in place, including the ones set up under my permanent Google log-in.
I am raising this issue directly with Google - in the meantime, how do I make McAfee aware that NetProtect no longer does the job we need it to, and I urgently need a better solution? All Help Menus appear to lead to BT - nothing seems to refer to a McAfee contact.

Clearing DNS cache did not help.
It has finally come back, but a very long wait; long after the 'minute or so' it said it would take. I agree there was a clear error message. Maybe it would have come back eventually even with it just temporarily disabled rather than fully turned off?
No further changes to setting by me (still totally removed) but now the blocking is back again ....
Clearing dns cache no effect.
No major worry as I can revert to BT dns servers till it is resolved, but irritating.

McAfee nothing but problems

Ever since McAfee took over Verizon Security Suite Service we have had so many problems! Talked on the phone to McAfee supervisor, but couldn't help. We now have had one of our e-mail accounts hacked into and it is sending messages to our friends e-mails that we didn't write. The only way we found out it was doing this is when people started telling us about the crazy things that were being sent. They do not show up in our send box. The other account has gotten the most SPAM ever! The old Verizon Security Suite was excellent. Never had one problem with it. Now I get e-mails that are not blocked by McAfee asking me for money to be sent to foreign countries. McAfee supervisor said that just happens, but it NEVER happened when the old security system was in effect. We have had great service for over 4 years, until McAfee took over. I may have to quit using Verizon's security and find another one now! Get rid of McAfee!

I don't use their security anymore.....I kept getting registry error and iI dislike even logging on to my home page. They have all these bars on top and bottom of there home page and you have to clear all the bars before you can type.

Can not access router page for WRT54GS

I can not tell what version my router is because it does not say on the bottom. everything is connected properly. coaxial is inserted into the modem, and when i connected the ethernet cable from the modem to my computer i get internet. Fine..dandy. now when i install that same wire to the INTERNET port on the router, and HARDWIRE to ANY of the ports to the router it works...cool! NOW when i try to access 192.168.1.1 NOTHING. it times out. so my ipaddress before and after holding the reset power for 30 seconds, and after power cycling (power down computer, than power down router, than power modem....than power up modem, wait till all lights come on...turn on router..all lights are on, and flashing(Internet, 1, and Power) EXCEPT the DMZ and WLAN lights on the router are off my ipaddress is 68.196.15.56, and my default gateway is 68.196.0.1. When i try to connect to 68.196.0.1 which is the default gateway i still get nothing. my cable modem is a scientific atlanta POS cisco product. I even double, and triple checked my tcp/ip connection under the general tab, and set them both to "obtain an ip address automatically", and the "obtain DNS server address automatically". Was so even crazy to empty internet cache, cookies, and temp files. I use both IE and Mozilla with ALL firewall (McAfee HIPS, and the antivirus turned off). I'm at a lost...if anyone has anything or any ideas, i downloaded the software for the router, and when i go to install it i get this error "Please check the tutorial to set your computer to DHCP". no clue guys i'm a pretty pathetic tech guy if you ask me. so i leave it to ya'll

ensure that you have the following connections done
1)connect the modem to the router's internet port
2)connect the computer to the router's port#1
3)there should not be any usb cable connected between the modem and the computer
if all of the above is fine
1)make sure that the computer gets an ip add of 192.168.1.x and the default gateway is 192.168.1.1
2)if yes , access the router using http://192.168.1.1 . the default password is admin

when I run installation of RSAT on fresh deployed Windows 8 EN-US Enterprise in Power Shell with command:
add-windowspackage -packagepath '.\Windows6.2-KB2693643-x64.cab' -online -logpath rsat.log
I am getting an error 0x800F0922
I have tried C:\WINDOWS\system32> lodctr /R, but it's fail with error code 2
also dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth no result either.

I have manage to install RSAT in safe-mode:)) Probably installation was blocked by MCafee AV.

Network Drives Mapping Issue

Hello Everyone,
Since 10 days we have been facing a very different issue. A user in my company is not able to map shared drives on his Windows 7 Laptop.
There are 6 windows-7 workstations having a Share in their respective c drive. C:\ABC\xxx_share. These folders has "everyone" on both share and security permissions.
\machine1\xxx_share (Using single slash instead of double slash here becoz its not letting me post links here)
\machine2\xxx_share
\machine3\xxx_share
\machine4\xxx_share
\machine5\xxx_share
\machine6\xxx_share
when we try accessing \machine1\c$ - nothing comes out.
We have tried mapping through IP address
We have tried force mapping through CMD
we checked firewall, everything is off.
I have directly added the user to all the 6 folders even though user is not able to map it.
We are not able to diagnose as what an issue can be here.
The machine is pingable and we are able to take RDP a couple of days back, but now even the machines are not accessible.
I would request your help.

Thanks Mike. Yes i tried mapping to the shared folder only. I just tried to check C$ whether it accessible or not.
It was not accessible. This is not resolved yet
If you cannot even RDP to the clients that is not the problem of shared folders etc. However C$ is accessible to local admins, security software disable access to those hidden shares as a default behavior. McAfee HIP is a case in point. Also hidden shares can
be disabled too.

When downloading Reader 8.0 a message SGC15.exe

When I download Reader 8.0 there is a message from McAfee that there is a trojan horse SGC15.exe with is blocked by McAfee.
Why ????? this message from the Adobe site.

It may be a false report, this happens all the time with anti-virus.
So long as people report this sort of thing to the anti-virus maker it
is usually sorted out quickly. Start by updating the Mcafee stuff.
This was seen at least six months ago, so it should be sorted by now.
If that doesn't help, double check that you are on the real Adobe
site, not an imposter trying to deliver bad software (this can
happen). Go to http://www.adobe.com/acrobat/readstep.html to download.
If that still doesn't help either
(a) contact McAfee for help or
(b) temporarily switch it off to get Reader loaded.
