  • HP C4180 All-In-One printer

I have a simple network. One XP computer with HP C4180 All-In-One printer. One Mac Powerbook X 10.4. The two computers communicate via a wireless network.
Everything is setup fine. The Powerbook can see the XP printer via the Mac Printer Utility, but the Printer Description is not included in the pull-down list of computers.
I installed the HP C4180 Printer driver on the Mac, but the Printer Description is still not included in the pull-down list.
In the pull-down list, I can choose "Other...", and I am re-directed to a pop-up dialog to search for a file. I'm assuming that I am searching for a PPD file?
Did the Printer Driver install a PPD file somewhere on the MAC? Where is it? Will the PPD file work as a driver for a networked printer (or just a USB printer connected to the mac?)?
    Thank you.

    Hello Steve,
The drivers for the HP have been designed for direct USB connection and will automatically add the printer when it is connected. The drivers haven't been designed for this type of network connection, hence they don't appear under the HP list, nor will you be able to browse for a PPD.
What you need to do is use one of the included GIMP (Gutenprint) drivers to print via your network. The trick is finding which one will be compatible with the C4180. This could be just a case of trying several different ones, unless someone out there is aware of which driver would work best.

  • DeskJet All in One printer cartridge compatibility

Hi there. I hope you can help me. So my dad gave me this wonderful printer, the DeskJet 2544 all in one. Unfortunately, the tri. Color cartridge ran out. I was about to shop online on the HP website but there was no 301 tri color CH562E like the one installed on mine. I was thinking if I can buy other cartridges that can be an alternative? For example, the deskjet 2540 all in one uses HP 61 cartridge. Can I order and use that?<br><br>Also, what is the difference of a deskjet all in one printer and a DESKJET INK ADVANTAGE all in one printer? Can I use cartridges from that?<br><br>Thank you. Looking forward for someone to help.

Was the printer purchased on one country but you are in another?  If so you will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.
You can find the correct cartridges for your area from the HP SureSupply site.

i recently bought a printserver,   its a Hp 175x USB external jetdirect printserver  (can these names be any longer pfff)
And my all in one printer is a HP C4180 .
I hooked everything up,  all lights are sollid as they are supposed to be, so no issues there.  If i press the testpage button
It prints a nice page on the printer,  so all works from printserver to printer.
BUT,  when i try to print anything from my PC it doenst work.
I tried running the CD and it cant find the printer in the network.
    I DOUBLE CHECKED ALL WIRES
What can i do to make everything work??
The purpose is to be able to use the abbilities  (sorry for the crappy english, im belgian)
of the all in one printer in the entire house,  which are about 4-5 PC's.
So they all have to be able to print and scan.
    HELP PLEASE

    Hello,
Generally Print Servers are designed to be used for printing purpose. However in certain cases, we can use the EWS to complete the scan process.
Here is a link to the old forum which discusses the procedure to scan from the EWS.

  • Airprint with HP C4180 All-in-one Printer

I am currently thinking about upgrading my iPhone 3GS to the 4.2 software and undecided. If I do so, would I be able to print from iPhone to my HPC4180 All-in-one Printer?
In order to use Airprint, do you have to have an Airport?
    Thanks in advance.

I cannot get my printer to install either by CD or going to HP Software and Drivers Section. My computer had a virus and I had to have it repaired so they did a System Restore and now can't get printer to re-install. Can someone help me?

    1. Unplug the USB Cable from the back of the printer.2. Download the full feature software HERE.3. Save downloaded software to your desktop.4. Run the software after it is successfully downloaded.5. Connect USB Cable when prompted.  Let me know if that helps.

  • Canon MP510 All in one printer and Snow Leopard problem...

    Hiya,
After looking at almost all the chat out there nothing has worked.
I have deleted the MP510 printer from my system prefs and ever since then I get the message "Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. 155.0.0". I cannot add the printer back into the list as it simply does not exist. Even with a new USB cable!
I have installed all the latest Canon software and upgrades: Easy-PhotoPrint EX_321; MP Navigator 304; PrinterDriverMP510102600 & ScanGear MP510 12131 to no avail, even after multiple restarts.
Can anyone help this newbie connect to the Canon printer please?

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
When you select to add the printer, if it does not appear in the Default view of the Add Printer browser then there could be a problem with the MP510, especially since you have already tried a new USB cable.
Some additional things that you can try
    - turning the MP510 off for several seconds and then back on again
    - trying a different USB port on the Mac
    - resetting the printing system (described below) and trying to add the MP510 again
    - with the MP510 connected to the USB port, opening System Profiler and checking the Hardware > USB section
If none of the above helps then please reply...
    Pahu
*How to Reset the Printing System*
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
    4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
    5. Restart your Mac
This will remove your print queues but not your printer drivers. So you will only need to add your printer queues again.

  • What to do with 6310 all in one printer when done with it?

Want to sell, donate, or recycle (in that order) my HP 6310 All-in-one printer.  The door no longer shuts and an eror message frequently appears saying "carraige jam".  We simply push "OK" and it works.   Instead of trying to fix it -- we bought a new printer.  So, what do we do with our old printer?
PS - I suspect an HP tech could fix this printer in 2 minutes and a handy computer type could fix it 15 minutes.

Hi @6310endgame, thanks for reaching out to the HP Forums!
    If you are still wondering what do do with the 6310 printer I can help. In order;
Sell: You could try on online site and note that is is currently non functional, or maybe post it for parts
Donate: You could take it to a local mom and pop shop, perhaps they should use it for parts to repair another model, or they could repair yours.
Recycle:  Take a look at the following link; Product return and recycling.
I apologize for the delay, but I hope this resolves your inquiry!

  • Photosmart C4180 All-in-One. While printing it stopped and the power button is orange. Nothing works

Hi, I have a Photosmart C4180 All-in-One. So far it worked perfectly.
Tonight I had to print a few pages and right in the middle of it, it stopped leaving the page halfway.
Also the on/off button stays orange and there is an exclamation point underneath it.
I removed the page and turned off the power by removing the plug (pressing the on/off button didn't work).
While putting the plug back in, the power came on again... but the on/off button remains orange. Nothing works.
Does anybody recognize this problem and/or does anybody have a solution for this?
    Thank you,
    Dutchfox

Hi , I understand that you are having issues printing and scanning. I would be happy to help you.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.HP Photosmart (D110), Photosmart Wireless (B110), and Photosmart Ink Advantage (K510) e-All-in-One Printer Series - Printing a Network Configuration Page. Check to see if you still have a valid IPv4 address. If you have a valid IPv4 address for the printer then try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Type the IPv4 address into your web browser's address bar. (Safari)Did it load the web page? If you were able to access the printer's Embedded Web Server, please try the following steps: Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:Close all applications. On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.Double-click Disk Utility.Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions. Restart the computer.. Reset the Printing System: Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol. Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.Click Printers & Scanners.Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.Click OK to confirm the reset.Type the correct Name and Password.Click OK to reset the printing system. Then click the + sign to add the driver, highlight the printer. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name) Then click on the Add button. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know. • HP OfficeJet 6310 All-In-One printer won't print in color with new cartridge

HP OfficeJet 6310 All-In-One printer  on a iMAC  OSX version 10.9.5 system
    Hello,
As I don't print in color much but had need to I discovered my printer not printing in color.  I trouble shooted and even replaced with an new HP95 new from Office Depot ( I never buy refilled).  The printer still won't print color but it advances the paper as if it was printing - just no ink on paper.  I have cleaned thoroughly the ink jet heads, cartridge area, and run all the alignment and printer utilities.    The test page print does not show color either.   I have no error messages.  Don't know what else to do.
    thanks
    DH

    Hi there @dhengr!
Thanks for contacting the HP Forums!
I can see your having a print quality issue with your HP OfficeJet 6310.  I should be able to provide documentation that will help locate a resolution.  You mentioned you have already tried another  HP95 tri-color cartridge with no resolution.  I also noticed you said that the quality report from the printer also has no color ink.
If a stand alone test report is performed from the front of the printer such a printhead cleaning or print quality report and there is no color on the page then you are likely looking at a hardware issue within the printer.  I have provided a document regarding Missing, Faded, or Dull Colors on the HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer.  If you follow the document from start to finish and still have the same issue then I would recommend contacting our HP tech support via phone.  They deal with hardware warranty and replacement options.
Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html
