!!!!!!!!!! HP C4180 ALl-IN-ONE printer ON a 175X external jetdirect printserver ISSUES

Hi,
its my first post here,   so HELLO to all
i recently bought a printserver,   its a Hp 175x USB external jetdirect printserver  (can these names be any longer pfff)
And my all in one printer is a HP C4180 .
I hooked everything up,  all lights are sollid as they are supposed to be, so no issues there.  If i press the testpage button
It prints a nice page on the printer,  so all works from printserver to printer.
BUT,  when i try to print anything from my PC it doenst work.
I tried running the CD and it cant find the printer in the network.
I DOUBLE CHECKED ALL WIRES
What can i do to make everything work??
The purpose is to be able to use the abbilities  (sorry for the crappy english, im belgian)
of the all in one printer in the entire house,  which are about 4-5 PC's.
So they all have to be able to print and scan.
HELP PLEASE

Hello,
Generally Print Servers are designed to be used for printing purpose. However in certain cases, we can use the EWS to complete the scan process.
Here is a link to the old forum which discusses the procedure to scan from the EWS.
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1298994065288+28353475&...
My suggestion is to get to get a network AIO to get complete functionality.

  • HP C4180 All-In-One printer

I have a simple network. One XP computer with HP C4180 All-In-One printer. One Mac Powerbook X 10.4. The two computers communicate via a wireless network.
Everything is setup fine. The Powerbook can see the XP printer via the Mac Printer Utility, but the Printer Description is not included in the pull-down list of computers.
I installed the HP C4180 Printer driver on the Mac, but the Printer Description is still not included in the pull-down list.
In the pull-down list, I can choose "Other...", and I am re-directed to a pop-up dialog to search for a file. I'm assuming that I am searching for a PPD file?
Did the Printer Driver install a PPD file somewhere on the MAC? Where is it? Will the PPD file work as a driver for a networked printer (or just a USB printer connected to the mac?)?
    Thank you.

    Hello Steve,
The drivers for the HP have been designed for direct USB connection and will automatically add the printer when it is connected. The drivers haven't been designed for this type of network connection, hence they don't appear under the HP list, nor will you be able to browse for a PPD.
What you need to do is use one of the included GIMP (Gutenprint) drivers to print via your network. The trick is finding which one will be compatible with the C4180. This could be just a case of trying several different ones, unless someone out there is aware of which driver would work best.

  • Airprint with HP C4180 All-in-one Printer

I am currently thinking about upgrading my iPhone 3GS to the 4.2 software and undecided. If I do so, would I be able to print from iPhone to my HPC4180 All-in-one Printer?
In order to use Airprint, do you have to have an Airport?
    Thanks in advance.

I cannot get my printer to install either by CD or going to HP Software and Drivers Section. My computer had a virus and I had to have it repaired so they did a System Restore and now can't get printer to re-install. Can someone help me?

    1. Unplug the USB Cable from the back of the printer.2. Download the full feature software HERE.3. Save downloaded software to your desktop.4. Run the software after it is successfully downloaded.5. Connect USB Cable when prompted.  Let me know if that helps.

  • HP Deskjet 3520 e-All in one printer trouble with scanning network, connection and very slow print

    Dear all
I bought two days ago HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in one printer serie, but i have some really bad issues with the scanner! I have searched on the internet and i couldn’t find anything to solve the problem.
I have installed the printer according to the book of the printer, so everything did go well(i think), except that i can’t connect the scan to my computer, a Mac OS X (i am connected with the printer). I get directed to the website where i can connect the scanner, but every time i try to connect it with wi-fi, i get two notification, one from my computer (from HP Itility (Dutch) program) that the connection is off and second from the website that i have to make sure that i’m connected with internet (which i am) and to check the IP address if it is the same with my computer (which is the same).
Obesely something did go wrong, but i can’t find the problem.
Beside when its copy or prints a document (no matter how many pages) it’s very slow. It takes 10 -15 minutes till the printer starts. Has it something to do with the problem i’ve got with the scanner or is the printer always so slow? Because the very first time, when i installed the printer, it printed very fast.
By the way i also print the test-results to check if there is a problem, but according to test-results there are no problems at all.
I hope that someone recognize this problem and can help me to solve it.
    Regards,
    Esra

  • Photosmart C4180 All-in-One. While printing it stopped and the power button is orange. Nothing works

Hi, I have a Photosmart C4180 All-in-One. So far it worked perfectly.
Tonight I had to print a few pages and right in the middle of it, it stopped leaving the page halfway.
Also the on/off button stays orange and there is an exclamation point underneath it.
I removed the page and turned off the power by removing the plug (pressing the on/off button didn't work).
While putting the plug back in, the power came on again... but the on/off button remains orange. Nothing works.
Does anybody recognize this problem and/or does anybody have a solution for this?
    Thank you,
    Dutchfox

Hi , I understand that you are having issues printing and scanning. I would be happy to help you.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.HP Photosmart (D110), Photosmart Wireless (B110), and Photosmart Ink Advantage (K510) e-All-in-One Printer Series - Printing a Network Configuration Page. Check to see if you still have a valid IPv4 address. If you have a valid IPv4 address for the printer then try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Type the IPv4 address into your web browser's address bar. (Safari)Did it load the web page? If you were able to access the printer's Embedded Web Server, please try the following steps: Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:Close all applications. On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.Double-click Disk Utility.Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions. Restart the computer.. Reset the Printing System: Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol. Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.Click Printers & Scanners.Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.Click OK to confirm the reset.Type the correct Name and Password.Click OK to reset the printing system. Then click the + sign to add the driver, highlight the printer. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name) Then click on the Add button. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know. According to HP, I have all the latest HP Photosmart C4180 "All In One" Drivers Installed.
According to PackardBell (my pc) it is all installed to Windows 7 with a 32 Bit Operating System.
The problem I get is that I start the P/C ... Then I opened up the HP  "Solution Centre" on the desktop ...
It tells me  "Your HP Photosmart C4100 series is ready"
In the middle of the screen it says  "Start An Activity" then there is a button that says
"Scan Document" ... I press on this button and it seems to do nothing!!! ...
    Please Help?? ... gooseman57

    Hi there @gooseman57 !
Thanks for contacting the HP Forums!
From what I can see from your post, sound like the scanning software for the HP Photosmart C4180 is not responding.  I should be able to provide you with a resolution for your issue.
A good place to start with an issue such as this, is to restart the computer and the printer.  I would suggest trying a photo copy on the printer to ensure the printer hardware is OK!
If you continue to experience this problem I would then suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the HP drivers.
I have provided a link with instructions on uninstalling the printer software and another link to the HP Photosmart C4100 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver
There are also other ways of scanning we can explore. For example, you can scan using the program Microsoft Paint.  All you need to do is:
    1.Open PAINT
    2.Go to "FILE" dropdown
    3.Click: From scanner or camera
    3.Choose your printer
4.Choose what type of scan you would like
    5.Click SCAN
    6.Click SAVE
Here is a link to a YouTube video for scanning using Microsoft Paint: Scan with your All-in-One Using Windows Paint (Windows 7)
Let me know if this was useful information and please post back with the results of your troubleshooting.

  • All in One Printer no longer scanning (C5280)

I have an oldish printer/scanner that was working fine until I downloaded the update that came from HP on Aug. 13th. Since then, I cannot scan. I got an error message that the machine was disconnected from the computer which made no sense since I can print from the computer just fine. I did all the things the error message suggested: rebooting, disconnecting the cable, redownloading the driver. The machine worked for about 5 pages of the scan after the redownload, then conked out again.
I saw some directions about going into the registry editor window but they were for Windows 7 and below. I have Windows 8. I did not see a folder for Digital Imaging in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/H-P
If there are updated directions for Windows 8, pleae let me know.
I have an All in One Printer (C5280)

Hello @Toonces , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to try and help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Photosmart C5200 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Hp officejet pro 8500 premier all-in-one printer

The above printer is 1 1/2 years old and it has stopped printing.  When the printing became light, I installed new print cartridges less than a week ago.  Now, after five days, the printer is consistently cleaning the print heads and aligning the print heads and my documents are not being printed.  And, what is most frustrating, during all the cleaning and aligning, all of my new ink is gone and I'm receiving a message replace ink cartridges.
Re: Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: cleans printheads every time it's turned on
    Options

    Well,
to this is say, "get used to it", or throw it away.  Many, Many, Many people have had trouble with this printer.
The following are common and frustrating issues that this printer exhibits on a regular basis:
    1.  Constant Self-Checking (usually every 20-30 pages of print)
    2. Very persistant Printhead Cleaning/Checking, (Every startup and after about 20-30 pages printed).
    3. Worn-out printheads (usually within 1,100 to 1,500 pages printed).
    4. Paper mis-feeds.
    5. Paper jams.
    6. Nearly impossible to use once the printer reports ink-depletion.
    7. Nearly impossible to use CIS Ink for larger print jobs.
    8. Ink and printheads "expire" regardless of when they are placed into service. (get a deal on ink or printheads last year?  Too bad, the warranty is already expired, most likely).
In short, this printer is the most EXPENSIVE printer I've ever owned, and the most frustrating to use.
I have just over 2,000 pages of regular text printed matter with very little color, and have already gone through 4 sets of ink, and 2 sets of PrintHeads.
Although it's true that you can leave the unit on, and let it go into standby, you should NOT be punished with constant and time-consuming "self-checking" everytime it's turned on, or prints a handful of pages, BUT, it does NOT appear that HP will be standing behind this printer disaster.  AND, to make things worse, they've gone on to redesign it, giving it a different look, and so there are about 6 different models/versions of the OfficeJet Pro 8500.
Anyone needing a reliable print/fax/scan/copy solution should look beyond this printer, because it will leave you wanting more, and spending more than you ever imagined you would have to on a late model printer.ro
What is going on?  Why does it just automatically clean and align?  I also get alignment failed messages.  Any suggestiions?

    rammerjammer,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, your feedback is very important and I want to do my best to help.  To answer what is going on, since the printing became light, started cleaning itself constantly, and fails the alignment, the printhead was damaged.  Click here to see and use the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges, Printheads, and Related Supplies.  There are many ways to contact HP.  The number to call is 1-800-474-6836 for HP and Compaq products for Home & Home Office use.  If you no longer have a warranty with the printer you can still use the warranty that comes with the printhead or ink cartridges.
If you have a carepack with the printer that extended the one year warranty then the troubleshooting will be covered along with the printer if the printer needs replacing.  Check product warranty here, see HP Out of Warranty Support Options for Select HP Consumer Printers here.
To order a new printhead you can go to HP Sure Supply and enter your printer or go to the HP Parts Store and order the printhead by part number C4900A for the Black and yellow and part number C4901A for the Cyan Magenta.  These printheads go by region also so be sure you are using the right region, these were found using the United States region.
The HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One printer has separated the ink cartridges from the printheads.  The ink cartridges are on the lower left and the removable print heads are on the carriage inside the printer.  The printer goes through a calibration process when turned on that will use ink.  Leave the printer on and let it go into stand by mode.  This type of printer is energy star efficient and made to calibrate on start up and be left on.  Allow the printer to clean or calibrate only if the printer must.  If it starts cleaning a lot it may be time to do a little maintenance to the printer (recommend once a month for maintenance).  Please see the following links for further details.

Printer Paper Tears, Wrinkles, or is Damaged while Printing from the All-in-One
Paper Path Issues in the Automatic Document Feeder
    Officejet Pro 8500 User Guide
The printer has a duty cycle of 7.5k page/month.  The XL cartridges have a composite page yield of 1.4k pages with about a third of the black ink left over.  To me it would seem that the printhead should last somewhere in between.  This printer was designed to save money on ink compared to the rest of the officejets.  I hate that it has been causing so much trouble, hopefully the information I provided will help.

Hello:  I have the "HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer model N911g" and read in the manual that it comes with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software.  I can't find any OCR software on the accompanying optial disk "HP Officejet pro 8600 series, Windows XP, VIsta, 7, 8 version 28.8".

  • Driver question - my all in one printer will print but not scan

    Hi
I have an HP c4280 (you know, the all in one printer you could get for free with the mail in rebate in 2007). I just plug it in and my mac recognizes it as a printer, and it prints fine, but image capture does not recognize it as a scanner. Before I upgraded to leopard I had all of HP's stupid software installed but after upgrading to leopard it didn't work (surprise). A lot of other things didn't work either so I did an erase and install and now everything works beautifully (I feel like I have old Tiger back, but better). However, I do not want to install HP's stupid overbloated and highly unnecessary mountain of software on my nice new clean system (I have turned into kind of an apple-only purist I guess ^_^). I checked HP's website and all they have is the same ginormous software bundle for download, and the installation wizard does not allow the option to install only components of the software (its all 28 programs or nothing). So, my question is, does anybody know where I can find only the driver I need (or WHAT driver I need) to make this printer compatible with image capture so I can scan?

You need to download the full featured driver from the HP site, and it also seems HP has an update for the Leopard installation as well.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&produc t=3192753&lang=en
I too have a C4280 and wasn't able to use my scanner until I had fully installed the HP software.

  • HP all-in-one printer app

Trying to get my NEW windows 8 laptop connected to my MFP M276 color printer...
    I get to
    http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-gb/app/hp-all-in-one-printer-remote/94883cdd-504d-4e94-871c-c70...
this eventually asks me to create a Microsoft account. I don't care to have Big Brother Bill Gates be involved in my HP printer driver.
But finding no way around this, I finally try to make one.  It asks for an email address, but the domain is restricted to either Hotmail or Outlook! HELLO? Are there only 2 email providers on the planet?  I am stunned. Did a single human test this software?
I finally did the traditional search for a driver, not an app, and find one on the HP site.
Lesson... if you're on a laptop, and see the word "app," run as fast as you can.

    Hello Seahorse1305,
    Welcome to the forums!
I am here to assist you with the printing issue you are having with your Photosmart B210. The first thing I do recommend, is running the HP Print and Scan Doctor to find and fix printing and scanning problems. If there is more of an issue that the tool cannot fix, it will let you know what the problem is.
Please let me know how this turns out for you!
