HP C4280 All-in-one... scanner doesn't work

The scanner worked fine when we got the printer several months ago. Now when I try to scan, I'm prompted by the printer to connect a USB cable. The problem is that the USB cable is connected already. I'm sure this is a driver issue, but I couldn't find anything on HP's website to answer my question.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I am in the exact same boat. What a crock and they sold this thing to me for $100 at the store!!
I've waited I think nearly 1.5 years to open the **** thing and now it doesn't work with Leopard. The heck am I supposed to do now?
Well, just so the details are etched in stone, the printer works fine with Leopard without installing anything. According to the HP website, you don't need to install to print.
Try scanning: I got the same "USB Cable not installed" warning on the printer LCD, and several threads on a Google search brought up to install the software and that should correct it. Nope. Uninstall, reboot, re-install with the USB cable NOT connected to the computer. Nope.
I'm about to uninstall and throw the printer out the window onto the nice new concrete path that was poured during a -18° F week and it's cracking already. I feel like I'm surrounded by morons!

I open the scanner and it gives an error message, "Failed to open session on the device." I already uninstalled all the hp software and reinstalled it. I saw your message, and I am hoping I have a fix for the issue you are having with scanning on 10.6. Below are the steps I would recommend that you try, and also do them in order they are written.
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
Repair disk permissions
Restart the Mac
Download and install the Full Feature Driver here which contains scan software: HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X v10.4, v10.5, and v10.6
Try scanning from the HP software and you should be able to scan, fingers crossed!

F4200 All-in-One scanner suddenly not working

I have been very happy with my HP Deskjet F4200 All-in-One printer/scanner.
Suddenly today the scanner refuses to wrok.
I get a report:
ERROR
The scan cannot be performed because another program has control of the HP imaging device. Try the following steps. After each step, try scanning again.
- Restart the program.
- Close all programs that may be using the device.
- Reboot the computer.
I do NOT have any other program open. I closed the printer/scanner program, shut down the computer - but problaem remains. What do I do now?
Do I uninstall and reinstall?? Or something else??

HP Deskjet F4435 all-in-one, scanner is not working

I am able to print and copy, but I cannot scan.
I tried the HP Help Doctor which didn't help. I tried the online download.
After or during the process I received the following error messages:

The attention light blinks a steady blink, not fast in my opinion. The power light is on. There are no messages in the window. There is no issue with the copy settings.

Yes, I do. I would like you to preform another Level three Uninstall on your computer:
a) Click the start menu, in search programs and files type in %temp%
b) Locate the correct folder starting with "7z" (the correct folder contains "Util" and "CCC" folders).
c) Open folder "Util".
d) Open folder "CCC".
e) Please run the L3uninstall.bat.
f) When the uninstall has completed, restart the computer.
Next, when the computer comes back on, please perform a clean boot on your computer. Follow this Microsoft document here to help you. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program.
Please uninstall Adobe Flash Player from programs and features on your computer. Once this is complete, you can install the latest Adobe flash Player here.
Now, install the full feature software by using the Printer Install Wizard. This will find the appropriate software for your computer. If you're still receiving the same problem, then running the Print and Scan Doctor again. Let me know if this utility diagnostic or fixes a scanning issue.

Scanner doesn't work w/All in one Series

scanner doesn't work with Deskjet F4100 series. My printer disappeared when I tried to print a PDF file. I had to uninstall/reinstall, but now I don't have access to HP Solutions Digital Imaging Monitor It always says "no devices found" and closes. I have Window Vista 32. I tried to find the ".exe" file, but errors say file cannot be found. The printer works, but the scanner. It shows that I have Xerox Work Center scanner but the profile shows no filename or resolution. The properties say the scanner is working properly, but HP solutions can't detect a device. Help

Hi,
I received an update from HP on Sat urday and when I completed the update (took about 3 hours) along w/reinserting the disk that came w/the F4100 all in one, I could finally connect to Solutions Center, and now I can scan. YEA!!! When I turned on my computer the update automatically came up and the restore point from a previous installation attempt. Thanks so much this means the world to me. I will also send this message from another person who was helping me.

C4280 All-In-One can't pull in paper

When I send a print job to my HP c4280 All-In-One, it makes a bunch of sounds and seems to be trying to pull in the paper, but it doesn't. It shows an error message saying "Out of paper".
Is there an easy way to fix this?

I have exact same problem with my HP Photosmart 6280 - the rollers just keep on spinning and not picking up the paper, generating out of paper message.
However, what I don't understand, this only happens sporadically - even in the middle of a print job.
It is very frustrating when I cannot finish a print job already started because suddenly the printer cannot pick up the paper any more - even after adding more paper and making sure the stack is loaded correctly, etc.
And of course, there's no way to access the rollers to see if there is anything blocking it or the sensors.

The software is included in the full feature package. I would recommend downloading and running the HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.

Have you tried contacting the developer of the app, perhaps? Since it's an app, the developer is responsible for support, aren't they?
Beyond that, the next step would be to ensure that your BB OS is indeed compatible with the app. If so, then further steps could be to seek out an updated BB OS (one that, of course, remains compatible with your apps) as well as performing a clean reload of your BB OS and all of your apps...just in case something has become corrupted in the BB OS itself.

Basically I have pruchased that super-printer and I am now trying to achieve scan to my mobile devices.
I have one iPad 2 on iOS 7, on 2 Android devices (smaller tablet and phone) both running Kitkat 4.4.2

Unfortunately, What happens :
- From my iPad, the AiO app states that my printer is not compatible with the application !!
- From my 2 Android devices, the All-in-One Remote app will work fine, except the scan feature as nothing happens (well, when tapping either 'Preview' or 'Scan' button in the Scan section, I see a 'Cancel' button during 0,1 second and I am back to that scan section)

Try using Google's DNS instead of the one your IPS is providing.
- To change on the iPod go to Settings>wifi and change the DNS to 8.8.8.8
- For the computer see:
Public DNS — Google Developers
- Did anything happen to your router right before this started? Maybe the router is blocking the port used.

There are two Applications folders: /Applications (in the root level of the hard drive) and ~/Applications (in your user folder).
If you have a look at the bottom part of the screenshot, you can see where Chess is stored, and it indicates that it's stored in /Applications, so you are looking for applications in the wrong folder.
Open a Finder window, go to Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Sidebar, and mark Applications. Then, close the Preferences window and you will be able to access to the Applications folder in the Finder sidebar. Another option would be to go to View menu (on the menu bar) and type:
/Applications
