HP C4280 All in One

Just bought a new workstation running Windows 7 Pro, 64bit, the software for the C4280 won't load (was running XP-PRO on the old workstation).  Error message indicated, only compatible with:  Win 2000, XP, & Viste.  Hate to throw away a **bleep** good printer........................
Any suggestions ?
Thanks;

Hi @carcopete ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about you missing a driver for Windows 7 and your HP Photosmart C4280 printer. Here is a link I found for Windows 7 software and drivers for the Printer.
Hope this works.

  • C4280 All-In-One can't pull in paper

When I send a print job to my HP c4280 All-In-One, it makes a bunch of sounds and seems to be trying to pull in the paper, but it doesn't.  It shows an error message saying "Out of paper".
Is there an easy way to fix this?
    Thanks for any help!

I have exact same problem with my HP Photosmart 6280 - the rollers just keep on spinning and not picking up the paper, generating out of paper message.
However, what I don't understand, this only happens sporadically - even in the middle of a print job.
It is very frustrating when I cannot finish a print job already started because suddenly the printer cannot pick up the paper any more - even after adding more paper and making sure the stack is loaded correctly, etc.
And of course, there's no way to access the rollers to see if there is anything blocking it or the sensors.

  • HP PhotoSmart C4280 all in one came with my macBK scanning doesn't work

Printing works fine yet when i try to scan something (hit the scan button) it says "usb port not connected" which of course it is working the usb cable connection or how could I print? Yet, scanning getting this kind of strange error! What should I do just take the macBOOK w/ printer to Genius
Bar see what they think? Hate to lug it all the way back in through shopping ctr again
anyone have an idea about this? Not like apple store just down the road from me requires a a jaunt
to say the least in my jalopy.

What a piece of crap - In the instructions it says for scanning "make sure you are connected to computer running Windows" ***? I use a mac because I don't want to use windoze.
I was in a huge hurry with a deadline looming in a couple of hours (and dead powerbook), so I grabbed a new iMac, they say - "want a free printer/scanner?" sure, throw it in. Had I not been on deadline, I would have done some homework. This thing is a piece of junk. And it wasn't free, I had to shell out $100 ontop of the other $2000 I was dropping in the Apple store. Sure I'll get the hundred $ back after I mail in the rebate form and wait six months to receive the check back, ASSuming of course I actually get all $100 back - check the terms and conditions, says "eligible for up to $100"... I'm guessing I get $50 at the most.
The mac "specialist" (and I use that term very loosely, just because you have an iPhone, doesn't mean you know anything about Apple) made it sound like this was the only printer that was "eligible" for the rebate. In my haste to get back to work, I sad f* it and now am ******, because I need to scan something st midnight on a friday and have to download new drivers/software.
Apple, you used to treat us much better when your market share was 3%.

  • Can you refill ink for a Photosmart C4280 all-in-one?

I saw another thread about this, but couldn't reply, so I'm starting my own.
A friend told me I should get refills since it's cheaper than always buying the #'s 74/75, I believe it is, but I don't know if it's possible for my printer.
If anyone knows and can help, please do.
    Thanks!

  • Partial Printing on HP C4280 All in One

I'm trying to print stationary created in Pages 08. It prints just fine on my black and white laser printer, but on the HP. The body of the letter and the name of the organization do not show up. I tried saving the file as a Word document and a PDF document. Both left out this crucial information. My guess is that there's something in the file that the printer isn't recognizing but I don't know what. And why is there no problem with the laser printer (GCC Elite 12/1200)? (And yes, I know this isn't a great printer, but the price was right ($0) and it'll do the job if I can solve this problem.
    Thanks,
    Sandra Stark

I found that on my HP 6980 inkjet that if I selected colorsync in color management as opposed to vendor that my drop shadows printed correctly. When vendor was selected it used the HP color functions and overprinted drop shadows on graphics while not printing text with drop shadows at all.
Again, try turning on the colorsync option before you change your artwork. It takes a minute and a piece of paper to check to see if it will work for you like it did for me.

  • Scanner driver for HP C4280 all-in one printer

I have Windows 7 on a PC and my printer suddenly is missing the scanner option. I may need a driver to get it back.

    Hi nancyhird,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand the printer is suddenly missing the scan option on your HP Photosmart C4280.
I would like you to complete the steps listed here: Windows 7: A 'No Scan Options' or 'Scan settings are not set' Message Displays on the Printer, please skip Solution two in this document as I know you do not have the scan option.

  • HP C4280 All-in-one... scanner doesn't work

The scanner worked fine when we got the printer several months ago. Now when I try to scan, I'm prompted by the printer to connect a USB cable. The problem is that the USB cable is connected already. I'm sure this is a driver issue, but I couldn't find anything on HP's website to answer my question.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I am in the exact same boat. What a crock and they sold this thing to me for $100 at the store!!
I've waited I think nearly 1.5 years to open the **** thing and now it doesn't work with Leopard. The heck am I supposed to do now?
Well, just so the details are etched in stone, the printer works fine with Leopard without installing anything. According to the HP website, you don't need to install to print.
Try scanning: I got the same "USB Cable not installed" warning on the printer LCD, and several threads on a Google search brought up to install the software and that should correct it. Nope. Uninstall, reboot, re-install with the USB cable NOT connected to the computer. Nope.
I'm about to uninstall and throw the printer out the window onto the nice new concrete path that was poured during a -18° F week and it's cracking already. I feel like I'm surrounded by morons!
    Edit: I'm running 10.5.6

  • Printing to a HP Photosmart C4280 All-In-One printer?

I have a 27" iMac that has the above printer connected via USB cable to the back of the computer. I have printer/scanner sharing turned on for this connected printer but the iPad 2 is not finding any printers.
Shouldn't I be able to print to the printer while the 27" iMac is powered on?
If not, can someone help me get this working. My wife uses it and I need to get this working. T
    Thanks

You need some software on the mac, like Printopia, that can get signals from the iPad and pass them to the printer.

  • HP Photo Smart C4280 All-in-One Printer Does it have a memory of what I printed?

I printed a document on my printer on 08/31/10.  Is it possible the document I printed then is still available on the printer somewhere?  Does it get stored?  Thanks for any help on this.

The printer does not have a document memory, you will have to go back to your computer (or photo card depending on where you printed from) and reprint the file.

  • New iMac, new HP all-in-one - will they be compatible?

I am new to Macs, and loaded Leopard as soon as I got it. Immediately after, I loaded the software for my brand new HP C4280 all-in-one. All seems fine except the scanner - I get a message indicating that the USB is not connected, or a message that no Image Capture device is found.
    Can anyone advise me?
    Thanks, Kepp

Welcome to the Mac platform. I have a HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One running under Leopard and the TWAIN driver doesn't seem to work with other applications. For example, when scanning in Photoshop or Image Capture it will either not recognise the scanner or crash the application when it does.
Firstly, you need to make sure that you are using the latest software from HP. I think version 9.1 is the latest for your C4280 printer. If you haven't got the latest, uninstall all the (HP) software and install v9.1.
Secondly, don't use Apple's Image Capture, just use HP's Scan Pro which works well under Leopard.
    I hope this helps.

  • Borderless Printing Iphoto 6 and HP 3210x All in One Photosmart

    Hi Folks,
Has anyone been able to get Iphoto 6 to print borderless 4x6 photos using a HP 3210 Photosmart Printer? I have tried every setting I can think of but it always prints a 4x6 photo with about a 1/8 inch border at each end.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Jim

I have the same problem, except on a C4280 all in one. Have you resolved it? Everything appears to be set up right, I have tried almost everything. But when I hit print the preview indicates that it has a gap on the end too. If i select any bigger size, it wont fit on the paper. 4x6 has a gap either end and i cant go smaller because I want boarderless, although even if I go with a boarder it says it wont fit.
    Please help,
    Sam
