HP C4585 - connecting wirelessly from linux netbook
Hi,
I bought my daughter an Acer Aspire One netbook for xmas with linux as the OS (An error as none of us have any experience of using it). Also got the above printer too and have already connected my laptop (Vista) wirelessly but cannot manage it with the netbook.
The netbook doesn't have a CD Drive so cannot install the software via that method. I did plug the printer in via USB and it all worked fine, the software and drivers seemed to automatically install and a test page printed fine but how do i connect the netbook to the printer wirelessly??
Any help greatfully appreciated and an idiot's guide in managing it even more so!

If you have the base model AIO 8500 it has both ethernet and USB connections. It is NOT recommended to use BlueTooth because it extremely slow for printing. However if you have the AIO 8500 wireless or 8500 Premier both have wireless built right into them. With the latter two models you can set up a true wi-fi printer meaning it will perform all of the functions (print, scan, fax and copy) wirelessly. You just wirelessly connect it to the router and as long as it's within range of the router you are set. If you have the base model your best bet is to connect it via ethernet to the router, this will still give you a true AIO experience. If you connect it via USB to the Airport Extreme (AE) it will ONLY print (no fax, copy or scan) because the AE only supports USB printing.

Thank you for your suggestion but I have already had a couple of phone sessions with NETGEAR support and they don't see any problems with the router settings etc. They referred me to Apple support, who helped me discover that it is possible to communicate with the router but only if I turn off the encryption/security software, which I don't want to do. The frustrating thing is that I can connect wirelessly from a laptop running Windows 7 and two Anroid smart phones, with WPA-2 in place, without a problem. Do you have any other ideas?

How do I connect wirelessly from my Canon SX700HS to my iPhone5s?
I can not get my iphone to connect wirelessly to the Canon SX700HS. I am able to see the Canon SX700 in the wifi section of my iPhone and I am able to select it. When I open the EOS Remote application and select Camera Connection, I see the camera showing up at the bottom of the window as a WiFi Connection, but it does not show up as a detected camera at the top of the window screen. Is there a setting I need to change? Please help. Do I need to enter the SSDI info on my iPhone 5s? If yes, Where do I enter this informtion?

Go to Solution.Late last night, and pretty painlessly, I managed to pair my new Powershot SX600 HS with my ("old") iPhone 4s.
I think obviously you did download the 2 applicable Canon software apps onto your phone.
Right now, I'm in a bit of a fog, but wanted to share this with you. I was helped by the Canon user manual info at this link, in the "Wireless" section somewhere around p. 89:

Can't connect wirelessly from my HP G72 Laptop to my HP 7410 Officejet All-in-one Printer
I have a HP G72 Notebook PC and a HP Officejet 7410, with wireless capability. I also have an Imac that I downloaded the
driver Officejet 7410 to and it connected directly to it not through the hub. Why doesn't an HP laptop connect directly to an

Can't connect wirelessly from laptop - only desktop
I have two problems I need help with. One I am working around (but would love to resolve) and another I cannot solve:
Firstly, I am having a problem when my desktop goes to sleep - upon wakening, I can't find my AEBS signal. I have had to reset and restart each time, and then it works fine. I should mention I have cable modem into my house --> AEBS - and I receive a wireless signal from my desktop. My work-around is that I simply have my desktop never sleep. I would love to be able to remedy that, but for now it's fine. I don't know what will happen if I shut down or restart, but that's an issue still unresolved.
The second (and more pressing) problem is that my laptop can't find the wireless signal - and I'm sitting next to it in my house. Not sure what steps to take from here. Tried restarting the laptop to no avail.

If you're using Preferred Network, try the following, in order, until resolved:
1. Delete Preferred Network(s)
o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure

o Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.

o In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"

Which AirPort Extreme Base Station do you have: 802.11b/g (dome-shaped) or 802.11n (rectangular)? What radio mode is your AEBS operating on: 802.11b/g, 802.11n only, etc.? What is the exact model of your iBook. You can determine this by using the System Profiler utility.
From the utility, select Hardware from the left column, and note the value after "Model Identifier" in the right column. -
I would like to know if connecting the apple smart tv console requires any additional connections or does it plug straight into the tv where the lan cable would normally be installed?

Macbook won't connect wirelessly on home network
Hey guys,
I see that a lot of you are having the same issue I am. I have a Macbook that I got the summer of 2008. Up until Thursday, it would connect wirelessly to my E-wire router and network just fine. Then it quit. Later that night, I went up to school for a class, and it connected just fine to the wireless network up there, but will not connect wirelessly to my home network. I have since gotten a new router (Netgear) and reconfigured everything (again), including security and all updates. Airport shows that I am connected to my network, and I can load web pages when I am plugged into the router via ethernet cable (as I am now) but when I try to launch Mozilla or Safari wirelessly, I get the "Server cannot be found" error message.
I am connected to my network, I have tried shutting off Airport and restarting it, as well as quitting my browser and reopening it, and rebooting my Macbook all together. And I also went in and manually entered my IP address, which is what allowed me to connect to the network via ethernet cable in the first place.
Any theories why my Macbook (which is newer) won't connect wirelessly whereas my roommates older Macbook doesn't have any issue connecting wirelessly from right next to me? And I know that it's not an issue of too many people trying to be on the network at once, since it's just the two of us at most, and I'm the only one here right now.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.Is your router a model that supports a/b/g/n? If you turn off N will it work? If your N is setup at 40MHz slots it may not work as well. Can you take your wireless router somewhere else for testing? I assume you might have some issue where you are at with your Mac and that router. When you open Apple Menu/About this Mac/More Info../Network/Airport does it show your network there? From a working machine can you see your Mac from your router web interface? FYI if your router was an Apple product(Airport Express or Airport Extreme/Time Capsule) you could see all your wireless clients via the Airport Utility, even signal strength and connection speed...

I downloaded ios 7 on my iphone 4s and cant play itunes from my iphone to my speakers through airport utility. it shows im connected thro wifii. i can play the speakers wirelessly from itunes on my computer so i know its my phone since ios 7 downloaded. even the icons on the song that turn on the speakers are missing. what do i have to do to get it back? Ive deleted airport utility and reinstalled it. i shutdown my phone and the airport base and wifii and restarted everything. nothing seems to b helping.
I just encountered this problem for the first time and stumbled upon this forum to find a solution. I played around with it a bit and it seems that if you slide your finger from the bottom up, you will come upon that new screen that will allow you to do various functions with your phone (put it in airport mode, lock, etc.), you can select your Airport from this screen and play your music wirelessly from your phone; at least this was my experience. I have a wirless network. I connect all my computers to it and a printer. I can print wirelessly from all computers. I tried to add the printer to my new Macbook, which is connecte to the network, but can't find the printer on the add printer and scan icon on preferences. I downloaded a installation printer utility from the Manufacturer (lexmark), but it didn't work. Any sugestions?

IvetteYou would need to get the IP address of your printer then manually add a network print queue.
To get the IP address, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Network Setup > TCP/IP > View/Set IP address. -
How do I connect wirelessly to my new mac mini from my macbook pro
Hi, I've just bought a new mac mini, its connected to my HDTV via the HDMI cable....it is showing as it should on my tv screen....but my question is: how do I connect to the mac mini via my macbook pro? I want to be able to control the mac mini wirelessly from my laptop, as the mac mini is going to essentially run my home theatre.

Can this be done? Airport extreme connected wireless in extend mode to connect a wireless Mac Pro with an ethernet cable from the extended airport extreme.
This will work.....IF....you also have an Apple AirPort router configured to provide your wireless network.
In other words, you need to have two Apple AirPort routers to extend a wireless network.
When the AirPort Extreme is configured to "extend" the wireless of the "main" AirPort, it will provide more wireless coverage and the Ethernet ports are enabled, so you could connect your Mac Pro to any of the Ethernet ports and use that as a network and Internet connection. -
I need to scan wirelessly from a MAC (OS 1.7 or higher) through Adobe Acrobat Pro X (or higher). Have discovered that all in one printers say they are MAC compatible but will only scan when connected with a USB cable. Would prefer a laser, color, all in one. Does anyone have printer suggestions that you know will scan wirelessly?

MacoBook Pro connecting wirelessly via Personal Web Sharing from iMac G5
Subject line says it all... more specifically my problem is that some things seem "blocked" on the MBP when i'm connecting wirelessly via my iMac network, but then are 100% functional when I use other wireless networks.
examples:
• gmail via Mail.app [mailbox always has the ! symbol and says it's timed out]
• playing app-based online games, certian functions will not work
• using FTP software, it won't connect
Maybe this an issue I can fix with port forwarding, if so how do I go about doing this? I was told my iMac is technically acting as a router, but I don't have a lot of experience with this type of networking. Thanks!
iMac G5 2GHz • 15" MacBook Pro 2GHz Mac OS X (10.4.9)Personal Web Sharing can be a bit tricky and yes, it's because of the firewall on the Mac that's sharing its connection.
The actual firewall software in the Mac is completely configurable, but the friendly user interface doesn't support the more sophisticated configurations. Fancier setups would require the use of commandline scripts run from Terminal.
You'll save yourself a lot of headaches if you buy a wireless base station, and forget about using Personal Web Sharing. A $60 Linksys will do the job nicely. -
I am trying to print wirelessly from my ipad to an epson stylus SX438W. The connection appears fine on both devices but the ipad cannot connect to the printer. It has been working fine for the past 4 months. Can anyone help?
Have you tried restarting the printer? Reboot the iPad as well.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
