HP C7280: Scan Photo to iPhoto?

My HP C7280 is connected wirelessly to iMac. There is no printing problem from the iMac. Also, I'm able to scan and print documents.
However, when I attempt to "scan to computer," I'm told: "No Scan Options"!
I'm at a loss trying to find a "plain language" solution.

You can not scan to iPhoto - you must scan to your computer and then import to iPhoto
The software that comes with the printer/scanner would be the best choice for doing the scanning

  • I cannot find my scanned photos on iPhoto since i installed yosemite

I use a  hp scanjet 4370 to scan photos to iPhoto but since i installed yosemite on my mac book i cannot find any of my new scanned photos.
    Thanks for any help.

First, don't try to find and reimport or move photos via the My Photos search in the left hand pane of a Finder window.  That's a sure way to further damage a library.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Can I import scanned photos to iPhoto?

I download all my photos from my camera to iPhoto ('08). I now want to scan some photos and import them into iPhoto with the rest of my photos but they are ending up in 'Pages' Nothing I do seems to get them into iPhoto. Anyone any ideas?

you can either scan automatically to iphoto from you scanner - if it will let you do that - or scan to the desktop and drag/drop to iphoto. The format of the scan pic will have to be accepted by iphoto, such as tiff or jpeg...
    hope this helps

  • Saving scanned photos into iPhoto

We've just bought a Canon Pixma MP620 and I want to save the photos directly into iPhoto. Is there anyway to do this? So far I've tried dragging and dropping into iPhoto (with it open) and it hasn't worked. Nor could I get iPhoto to import into its library.

I think its down to the software that came with the printer. I use a HP Photosmart 2575 and one of the options I had to set up was scan 'jpeg to iPhoto'. This does what it says, I have used it before but I have just tried it again and after the scan it opened iPhoto and imported the jpeg. Its iLife 08 I use not sure which version of iPhoto comes with that.
I would have a look at the set up of your scanning software, you just may find an option or an option you can add. I assume if you have just bought it the printer is new, why not call the Canon help line.

  • Problem with importing scanned photos into iPhoto

I have an Epson scanner that scans photos into the JPEG format. However, when I try to import these photos into iPhoto I am told that the file format is incompatible with iPhoto. This is odd since photos in iPhoto ARE in JPEG format.
    Can anybody help?
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Sir Leicester

Did you scan these photos as grayscale b/w photos? If so that's the reason. iPhoto does not support the grayscale mode when it has the *+Dot Gain 20%+* profile added to it and that's what scanners use.
Rescan all b/w images as color and they will be accepted by iPhoto. Or you can download the Automator workflow application, Convert to JPG and Embed sRGB profile, from Toad's Cellar and drop the files onto the application. This will batch convert them to jpegs in the RGB mode with the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color profile.

  • IMovie'08 not recognizing scanned photos in iPhoto Library

I scanned about 200 photos into my iPhoto library and they show up fine in iPhoto. However when I try to import them into iMovie, they aren't showing up? Photos that I imported directly from my digital camera are there, but none of the photos I scanned? I've looked in all events, albums, etc. but can't find them through iMovie?
    Any suggestions?

Photos that I imported directly from my digital camera are there, but none of the photos I scanned?
Start by checking the format in iPhoto. What compression format did you use to store the scanned photos? (I.e., compare the format with those from your digital camera which are most likely JPEG.)

  • Missing Scanned Photos in Iphoto

    Hi
I used my iPad and iPhone to scan a bunch of old photos.  I then uploaded to iPhoto on my iMac.  I just went into iPhoto and they are all gone!  The folders I made are there along with the titles but the photos themselves are not there.  Help!!

What is your iPhoto version on your Mac and your MacOS X version? How did you transfer the photos to your mac? Have you checked the Trash in iPhoto?
The folders I made are there along with the titles but the photos themselves are not there.  Help!!
Folders do not hold photos; they are just grouping your albums. The events are containing the photos. Are your events empty as well?

  • Scan photos into iPhoto

I want Photos that I scan to automatically be in iPhoto. I tried this:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3555679?start=0&tstart=0
but I get the image in iPhoto twice instead of only once. I tried removing and adding the Import files to iPhoto action in the automator and it does not work without it but duplicates the image with it on.
Any other ideas or suggested improvements to this one?

More of an Automator query than an iPhoto one, so I'd ask on the forum for the version of OS X that you have. Hazel is an app that will also do what you want:

  • Importing scanned photos into IPhoto

I scanned a lot of old black and white photos and they are sitting in finder. I am trying to import them into IPhoto and they can't. It says that it is an unreadable file and could not be formatted because it is an unrecognized format. What am I do wrong????

iPhoto only works with RGB photos - sRGB is the best
you can use Preview to change the color profile or search Old Toad's posts for a link to his automator script to do them in batches

  • How can I control where in  iPhoto my scanned photos will go? Right now they go to the very top of all the photos I have and I have to scroll the scanned photo  all the way down through 12,000 photos.

I'm scanning photos to my iphoto . After they are scanned I find them at the  beginnoing of my iphoto collection and have to scroll them down through 12,000,,photos. Is there any way I can control where the scanned photos will appear in iphoto?

You are asking about scanning photos to iPhoto on your Mac, right? This is the "iPhoto for IOS" forum, not the "iLife iPhoto" foruum for iPhoto on a Mac. Next time better post directly in the iLife forum - you will find more helpers there.
have to scroll them down through 12,000,,photos
Where do you look for your scanned photos? In the "Photos" view of the source list? I'd suggest, you look in the "Events" section. If you scan directly to iPhoto (assuming you use "Image Capture"), your scanned images will appear in the "Events" as "Unknown Project", and the events are sorted according to the settings in the "View" menu, "Sort Events" (assuming you are using iPhoto 9.x.x)
If you want them to appear in an event with a specific name, don't scan directly to iPhoto. Direct the scanned images to a folder, and then import this folder to iPhoto. Then the photos will be imported into an event with the name of the folder.

  • Restoring old paper photos into iphoto

I will be buying a digital camera and saw a feature on a camera in local store--called "restoring old images", where camera supposedly can take digital picture of old photo prints. The store's dvd showed restoring from a colored picture and it did look easy. I have boxes of old photos (both black and white and colored) and want to know if anyone has any experience in doing this, and what to watch out for. Is this camera feature a gimmick or can any digital camera do this? I would like for quality to be acceptable into Iphoto, then into idvd, then into imovie. Thanks....

    Hello,
Is this camera feature a gimmick or can any digital camera do this?
I don't know about that camera's feature of restoring old images...how can a camera always read correctly what needs to be 'restored'?
However, you can use any digital camera to take a digital picture of old photos. It is recommended that the camera be about 5 megapixels, have macro focus, and that you use a tripod. You can then import the photos to iPhoto and retouch them yourself as needed.
You could also scan the old photos into your computer and then import the scanned photos into iPhoto. That is the method I use for my old photos. Most of my old photos are in albums and it seemed easier to just scan the photos instead of trying to photograph each one. Some scanners have the capability of doing some scratch and dust removal as well.
Timewise, both methods probably are the same. Using digital camera to take picture, you have to get each print ready to be photographed, make sure lighting is good, print is in focus, maybe clip it to an easel, etc.
Scanning prints, you can place several on the scanner at the same time, but you have to select them one at a time for scanning.
Just pick the method you prefer.
If you decide to get that camera, be sure you can try it out and return it if it doesn't perform the way it is advertised!

  • Selected photos come forward but do not always enlarge.  In fact, sometimes they get smaller like thumbnails.  Original size of scanned photos does not seem to matter.

when I select photos, they always come forward but they do not always enlarge.  In fact, sometimes they get much smaller.   The original size of the scanned photos does not seem make a difference.  Why is this now happening?

to check the pixel size of the photo you select the photo in iPhoto and click on teh info button
as to scanning directly into iPhoto - that is not possible - iPhoto does not support scanning - you can only scan and then imported the scanned photos into iPhoto - what parameters are you scanning with?
You might try scanning to disk adn then importing into iPhoto from disk so you can see the steps more clearly

  • What is the best way to scan and sort old photos in iPhoto

What is the best way to scan and sort old photos in iPhoto?  They do not have digital dates.

    Hey Chicago Sue,
Once you scan them and have them on your desktop. You should use Automator and assign the common IPTC tags to the images, so that when you do import them into iPhoto, they get recorded.
Here is an example of an action in Automator:

What format are they? Tiif? Jpeg? You can compress them with a lot of apps - including Preivew and just about any graphics editor out there. I'm not sure that 45mb would crash iPhoto thogh, are yo sure that's the cause? I know that some folks have mentioned pixel dimensions causing issues, as can color profiles.

  • Trying to scan a photo into iPhoto

I have iPhoto 6.0.6. I cannot import a photo from my HP scanner directly into iPhoto. I must open Photoshop first, then import into Photoshop and then put on desktop, and then drag into iPhoto.
