As there are many models of HP Notebooks, I would need the model number (How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?) Are you receiving any error messages? Is it just a Black Screen? Are  you seeing any blinking LED lights?Have you tried to do a Hard Reset? Please follow these provided troubleshooting steps embedded in the questions above, re-post and let me know how everything went. Thank you! Have a great day!

My ipod touch 5th generation went into recovery mode when I tried to update ios. When I try to recover it just keeps looping back to recovery mode. • Lagging - Music plays for 5 sec., then stop for 10 sec.???

I bought the AE last week and it worked fine for 2 days, then on a morning, for no particular reason. It started to lag heavily. music will play for 2-5 seconds then stops for another 2-5 second, then play again for 2-5 sec.
I tried everything from restarting AE, upgrade Frameware to 6.2 then downgraded to 6.1, upgraded to itune 5 today, nothing works... it is the very same problem.
I am using a Dlink "B" only wireless router, does it make a different? and why did the AE work for 2 days then started this heavy lagging.
    Please help

I too have been experiencing the exact same issues. Mine has ran perfectly now for months however. From a terminal prompt if you cd /var/log and look at the system.log file you may find the airport link going down the up again (which would certainly account for lags/outages). The link down and up messages are what I am seeing. Often changing the channel will help as interference from other networks/devices can cause the issue as well. My problem began last Saturday, and continued even after I upgraded the firmware to 6.2. As of right now it is running fine again. A friend mentioned that there was a larger than normal amount of Solar activity that was wreaking havoc with some cell phone coverage recently. It would be interesting if these issues go away in the next week or so. Thoughts?

  • HT1766 I earsed the contacts data while SYNC with i tunes. I have a back up copy. Every time i do restore it put the contact data in my phone for 30 sec then it does away. How can i store it permenantly

I deleted all my contact trying to sync with I tunes. I am Resstored the contacts from back up. It apears for 30 second then it goes blank abain. can some one guide me on how to save it, also how can I sync my contact to I tunes without deleting the data on my phone

Similar issue -- this is the third time in as many months that I've had to restore my iPad. It's a iPad Mini w/ 32GB (ME277LL/A), running the latest iOS8.1.2. The "other" data starts off about 1GB and will bob around that. I was careful about games this time, seeing only a slight rise in the data. Once it started to rise, I deleted all of the game and the data on Game Center. No joy -- the data stays about the same.
Then I noticed it was really climbing -- shooting up to about 10GB and sitting there, no matter what I did: sync it: nothing. Deleting music (on the off chance it was album art or some such: nothing. Deleted all the books in iBooks: no effect -- still 10GB. Cleared the iCloud storage, cleared caches repeatedly: nothing. Reset everything: no effect. Only Restoring the iPad -- which takes forever and is a gigantic pain in the @$$ -- gets it down. This is exactly the same thing that happened the other two times -- I lose about 10GB to "other."
I now suspect, thinking on what I was doing with the device, that pulling movies from iTunes seems to be the culprit. Deleting the movies might take the movie "off the iPad", but there seems to be a corresponding jump in Other. My guess is there's some glitch dumping the information elsewhere.
It makes a 32GB iPad pretty frickin' close to useless in a remarkable amount of time. I've not had this issue until this iPad (bought last summer) with the iOS8 upgrade. I don't see this happen on the iPhone 5S with the same OS...that's why I dialed down to iTunes (when is it not smack in the middle of issues?) and Video as the culprit; I don't watch movies on the phone.
I've noticed a massive amount of posts in support and around the web on this matter...it might be time for Apple to shift it and do something about the matter. If I'm going to be restricted to surfing the web, email, and little else thanks to the Other issue, it really doesn't make sense to stick with this device. I can doo all that on my laptop, can't it?

I have an AT&T contracted iphone 5. Cannot send mms to anyone but other iPhone users. If you search the Internet, you'll see that the problem is everywhere...both the carriers and Apple are actling like the problem belongs to the other, or feigning any knowledge (which is kind of funny since the no MMS thing was in an ios6 beta that was released awhile ago, so I KNOW apple knows about it). No, I'm not running a beta (obviously, I just got my iphone 5).  Awesome. Have a great camera on this thing, but cannot send OR receive MMS from anyone other than other iphone users. Gotta love it.

  • Music plays from middle of a song for 5 sec, then changes & does it again

I just uploaded music onto my computer and then attached my iPod to download the music onto it. When I started listening to the music on my iPod, it randomly selects songs, plays for about 5 seconds from the middle of the song, and then changes to another song, plays for 5 seconds from somewhere in the middle of the song, and continues doing that. Also if I pause the song, it pauses for again 5 seconds, then goes to a new song, plays from somewhere in the middle of the song, etc.
The "meter" on the iPod screen shows a bar on the bottom displaying time played and time left to play Ex. 1:31----------------- -2:34 It clearly shows that's it's starting to play from the middle somewhere, but not the beginning of the song.
I've searched for random play, or some category that "previews" the songs, but can't find anything like that. Does anyone know what's wrong with it? Do I need to change the settings on it somehow? I CAN listen to the songs correctly if I listen from my computer, but not on my iPod.
I have the 60 video iPod, bought in November 2006.
    Thanks!

  • Apple shop changed my iphone 3gs today, got home and cannot join my wifi. both my mac and ipad is working on wifi. tried rebooting, resetting still doesnt hold the wifi, it's there for a sec then its not connected.help please?

    Hi,
Apple shop exchanged my iphone 3gs today. got home but it doesnt pick up the wifi. first the correct supplier appears then it says not connected.
both my mac and ipad is working on wifi (so did the previous phone) i ve tried rebooting, tried reset supplier...nothing works. can someone help please?
    thanks

Yes, they should be able to verify that WiFi is working properly. If I just got a new phone & it didn't work perfectly, right out of the box, before I started restoring or whatever, I'd be right back where I got the phone.

  • Early 2008 MBP powers on for ~5 secs then locks

I'm hoping someone can give advice as to what may be the matter with my MBP (other than it being toast). It's an early 2008 model. 2.5 Ghz Penryn + 512 MB GPU.
Here's the story. A small amount of tomato juice was spilt over the computer. It mainly got into the logic board, but it was not extensive. I took it to a repair shop, since my warranty is void, the best they could offer (aside from an estimated $1450 repair job) was to clean it. Instead of paying ~$250 for having them clean the system, I did it myself.
After the spill, nothing powered on. Even when I plugged in the ac adaptor, there was no green light. After cleaning the logic board + all components, the ac adaptor shows a green light, it actually showed the orange light and charged my battery!. If I remove the battery and ac then either plug in the ac or battery, the computer starts to power on. I hear the fans and cpu, then the hard drive starts to spin. Within ~5 secs though it sounds as if the HD locks and then everything shuts off. The display does not turn on / flicker during this time. I believe there should be not issue with the display since the spill was local to only the logic board and DC sound in board. Also,I know the hard drive works because I pulled it and backed up the contents.
I'm wondering if I reconnected something wrong and am causing some short out when powering on. There were two plugs that seemed odd and I wasn't sure what to do with them. One comes from the left part of the display. It is a black wire that does not seem to have any place to connect to. It is bound with two other wires that connect to the wireless card. The second connector is on the logic board. It is in between the RAM and optical drive. There is a 330V transistor(?) next to it and the word power is labeled near it. It looks similar to the connector on the logic board that the keyboard plugs into. I can't find any documentation online (nor plugs in my system) that would go with this connector. I'm not sure if either of these two issues could cause my system not to power on.
Obviously, I recognize that there is a high chance that some part of the logic board is shot, but seeing that I have restored some function thus far, I'm interesting in hearing ideas of what might be be causing this short out other than needing to replace the logic board.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi S.U.,
Thanks for the reply! You brought up some good points. I have been following the ifixit & powerbookmedic guides, however the photo examples for the macbook pro differ from macbook pro. Specifically, the connection to the ethernet port. I have three wires where all other examples I've seen have 2 wires. There are labeled connection to the wireless card for black and blue (with gold connector tips). However there is a middle wire that I can't find anywhere to go, it has a black insulation tip. Perhaps I can post a picture tonight to demonstrate exactly what I mean.
I used de-ionized water to clean the components. I made sure that I got every residue removed. I waited 1 1/2 days till I reassembled the unit. I don't have the tape replaced for many areas. That is to say I don't have the clear orange tape replaced. The more solid black sticky covers that went over the DC sound board and one small part of the logic board were fine to reuse. I was concerned that this might cause a short out and tried to start the computer without completely closing the top (keyboard base) so that nothing would touch the parts of the logic board and other components that once had orange tape covers.
I don't think the CPU nor GPU were damaged as there was no evidence of spill residue near the chips (although I guess they could have been damaged in the initial short out).
I don't get any lights whatsoever when turning on the unit. I just hear the fans and potentially the cpu. The hard drive starts to spin too. Then what sounds like the hard drive locking (a decently loud click) occurs, then everything stops. In order to have this process reoccur, I need to unplug all power sources then replug; simply pressing the power button will not get the unit to try to turn on again.
It really seems like a short out. Another reason I think its a short out is that the time window of the hard drive locking and everything stopping is slightly variable (between 5-10s).
I also tried resetting the RAM.
I'll post pics tonight and perhaps you or someone else will see something obvious that I'm missing.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • My MacBook pro wont wake up from sleep. The screen is blank at all times, but I can hear the fan for 5 sec then everything stops. Please help! I don't kno what to do.

My MacBook pro is about 3 yrs old. It is a 2008 model right before the new design came out. Recently I closed it up which puts it to sleep and a couple minutes later when I opened it up the screen stayed blank but could hear the fan running but then the power clicked like it was shutting down and I could hear nothing more. My power supply is working and I have already tried resetting it. Can anyone help me? I don't live exactly near a Mac store to get help.

Before resorting to an LB change-out, try this, as it has fixed many of the "silver-key" Macbook Pros with wake-from-sleep issues:
    1) To get the computer running, do an SMC reset. Instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Your MBP model uses the first option under the subhead, "Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)"
    2) If you get it running, go to System Preferences > Network and select your Airport connection
    3) In the result main pane, click the "Advanced..." button.
    4) You should be looking at a window with multiple tabs at the top; the "Airport" tab (far left) should be active---if not, make it so.
    5) There is a panel showing "Prefered Networks." Use the "minus" button below that window to eliminate any networks that you don't need to access on more than a weekly basis. I'm down to two: the home Airport Extreme Base Station and the network for a museum at which I volunteer once a week.
    5) Click "OK" and close System Preferences.
Now try letting it sleep and see it if wakes up.
When this happened to my Late 2007 MBP, I used Console to read system.log and found that, on waking, the compuer was looking for the wireless network at a lodge where I'd stayed weeks earlier and miles away. Clear the morass of old networks and keeping the list short has completely cured my wake-from-sleep issues.
The steps I listed take less time to do than to read, and are within the ability even of novice Mac users.
If that doesn't work, you may need to seek professional help. If you take it to an Apple Store and they recommend a logic board replacement, ask about a "Depot Repair." Instead of replacing the logic board on-site (which will whack you to the tune of US$700-1100), they send the computer to a central Apple refurb facility that fixes whatever they find wrong for a flat fee of about US$315 (last time someone reported using the service here). Turnaround is about one working week, and people who have taken of this service have reported being very pleased with the outcome.
You don't show a geographic location. This service may not be available if you are outside North America.

Has anyone had this problem? With earbuds connected the ipod keeps turning itself off. I then have to turn it on and it will play for another 60 sec and shut off.

Make sure the plug is fully inserted into the iPod.  There will be a noticeable click, and you may need to push harder than expected.

  • U430p keyboard lights up for half second then dies

Hey guys, My IdeaPad U430p is on the fritz. Syptoms: At first, I thought it was out of battery. When I press the power button, the keyboard and power button will light up (screen is blank), but only for a half second and then it all goes blank. I charged it up, battery light on, then let it sit for a few hours without the charging cable. Again, even when charged, the same thing happens. My brother mysteriously got it to work the other day when I wasn't around, but now it is back to only turning on for half a second. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how have you managed to fix it? Also, does anyone know what causes this?Thank you, Lauren
