HP CM 1415fnw multifunction printer. "HP ToolBox FX has encountered an error & cannot recover

The lower right tray icon has disappeared. I've downloaded latest drivers. The messages below have appeared.
Using Windows XP.
Unable to communicate with Device. The device is disconnected or powered off.
HP Toolbox FX encountered an error & cannot recover. Message on up left of screen at start up in am. Clk OK and lower right icon in Start box disappears. Try to open HP Toolbox FX on lower rt screen icon & get message. HP Toolbox FX encountered an error & cannot recover.
“HP LaserJet Director Error. Unable to communicate with the device. The device is disconnected or powered off”
“HP ToolBox FX has encountered an error & cannot recover. Please Restart HP Toolbox FX or restart your PC.”
Do I need to reinstall HP Toolbox FX from disk & if so, how do I proceed?

I see you're having software issues.  I would like to help.
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

    D Carey, sounds like you are having an issue with the Printer Toolbox software. However, I am going to need to know more information on what you are working with. What is the operating system you are working on and what is the particular model of printer that is experiencing the issue?     I understand that you're getting the error 'Unable to add print driver hpfax1, error code 87' when installing your HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer on your Windows 7 computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this install issue. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps that you have completed prior to reaching out for support. At this time I am going to walk you through some additional software and driver troubleshooting steps. Please follow all of the steps below.  If you're using your HP Laserjet through a USB Cable connection, please disconnect that cable now.  Step one: Remove Driver: 1. Click on your Start menu 2. Select Control Panel 3. Select Programs and Features 4. When Programs and Features opens a list of programs installed on your computer will populate. Click on the 'Installed ON' tab at the top to change the date so the recently installed items show at the top. This will make it easier to manually locate the three HP Laserjet items you need to uninstall.  5. Next, look for the HP LJ M1530 MFP Series HP Scan, HPLaserJetHelp_LearnCenter, and HP LaserJet Professional M1530 MFP Series. If you see any 3 of these, or all 3 of these items, please click on them and select Uninstall.   Once you have confirmed that those three items have been uninstalled, please close Programs and Features and proceed to the next step.   Step 2: Clear Temp Files:  Click on your Start menuIn the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.Close the Temp folder once it is emptiedRight click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling BinPlease proceed to the next step.    Step 3: Download Installer Package:  Please click here to download the Full Feature Installer package.   • Internal error cannot print

    Thank you for your reply.  Here are some further details on the question that you asked:
    1. At that beginning, because the PDF file has 226 pages as total and consists of 19 fm files, which I mean the big volume, I thought this problem occurs.  (FYI, the small/medium volume means the PDF file has 112 pages as total and consists of 16 fm files / only around 20 pages as total and consists of only 1 fm file.)
    However, now, I know the problem occurs in the specific two very small fm files.  These two fm files are only 3 pages / 15 pages as total and consists of only one fm file.  – So, I do not think the volume relates to this problem.
    2. I always use “save it to PDF” to create PDF files so far.  I am using the PDF distiller that came with FrameMaker8.
    3. All files including graphics are in my local drive (C drive).
    So I'm wondering if the problem is possible due to the two specific fm files.  If so, what are your recommendations to get around this?

  • Can't scan from Lexmark multifunction printer - firewall issue?

    I got a Lexmark printer/scanner combo which used to work fine on my arch install. However, its mobo died, so now I'm back at another install which refuses to scan. Scanning is done through the browser via a java applet residing on the printer's webserver. The applet does start (so it's not a java issue), but refuses to receive data from the scanner. Within the printer's web interface, it reads
    If using Windows XP, the Windows XP personal firewall must be disabled before using Scan to PC profiles.
    , so I'm assuming it might be a firewall issue. Lexmark's website provides the following advice:
    The following two command lines will open the port 5353 for incoming and outgoing connections:
    iptables -I INPUT -p udp -m udp --sport 5353 -j ACCEPT
    iptables -I OUTPUT -p udp -m udp --dport 5353 -j ACCEPT
    NOTE: These steps will work on most distributions configured with IPTABLES. There is no common command to make these rules persistent.
    As I don't know anything about IP tables, I've simply copied these commands (as root, obviously). Still, I can't scan.
    So, my questions are:
    1. Has anybody else ever come across an issue like this?
    2. I don't even know for sure, whether this is a firewall issue - What iptabled magic would I need to temporarily disable the firewall to check?
    3. I tried checking my rules by "iptables -L". How can I tell "iptables -L" to specify the ports it is working on (as I did in the commands copied from lexmark's website)?

    I believe so.  We put the install disc into this mac back when we bought it to set up the printer.  I'm assuming the scanning drivers were there as well since it's a multifunctional printer/scanner/fax wireless printer.
    We've tried it both ways.  If I press the button scan on the printer, it reads can't find computer (or something like that).  When we go thru the HP icon on my computer screen and choose scan to computer, it does nothing.
    We don't scan that often.  So the few times when we ran into this problem, we just did something else (like take a pic from our iPhone and email the pic...kinda stupid but did the trick.
    But I want to have the function of the scanner available.  So that's why I'm here asking...thought others had this issue and had a solution.

    LOCATION/SET-UP: At my personal residence. All-in-one wireless router through cable company.
    ISSUE: All of a sudden, printer cannot find any wireless networks. Nothing has recently changed in my service provider or equipment. I know that the router and internet is not the problem because our 2 smart phones and three laptops still connect. I've triend manually setting up the network using SSID and Keyphrase but still nothing.

    I would perform a hard reset by removing the power from the entire machienethrough the powercord for thirty seconds. Following that I would reconnect the printer to the wireless network and set a static IP/

    Hello,
    I'm able to print to my printer - HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer - over my local network and the printer is connected to the router via wireless connection.  No connectivity issues as far as the local network goes..
    The problem I'm having is that for the past week (perhaps longer but I only noticed it a week ago) I'm unable to download the web forms or web apps from the printer's screen menu.  I keep getting the message: Unable to connect to the network, please check your network connection etc etc etc.
    I successfully printed to my hpeprint email address, so at least the printer is connected to the eprint network, but still can't access/download any of the web forms or web apps.
    Has anyone experiencd this?  I'm really stuck, can't figure out what the issue could be seeing as how the printer seems to be working over the local network and am able to print documents that I send to me hp e-print email address.  Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance...     You're lucky to have SOME ePrint functionality left! I got a new m177fw from HP and the printer simply won't enable ePrint. I get a constant connecting screen or connection error screen. There aren't any problems with my network and I spoke with a HP customer service representative over the phone and it seems they are clueless that ePrint is currently broken on HP's end.

    my setup is different.
    the printer is connected via ethernet to an airport extreme and printing is fine.HP Director/Scan is not detecting the printer over the network.
    i saw this one hp site(i forgot yhe link and i couldn't find it again) telling us to include network devices in preview and the scanner does not show on the options.

    I see that you are having issues with the drivers and you would like the proper ones installed. I would like to help.
    The only drivers available from HP are the Hostbased Plug and Play Drivers. Did you download and install those drivers or are you using the Windows preinstalled drivers? HP LaserJet Hostbased Print/Scan Plug and Play Drivers.
    If you are using the downloaded drivers, check the Devices and Printers window to see if the printer name is listed correctly and not showing the Windows Classic Driver.

    Recently purchased HP Laserjet Pro M1136 MultiFunction printer. But it is not installing HP scan software. But scanner is working by default drivers.

    System drivers updated and USB drivers also updated. But no luck 
    HP Scan doctor also installed. But same issue. HP scan is not identying

    The only suggestion I can provide is connecting a USB cable to this printer and your computer. Windows will detect the hardware and try to install a driver. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Have a great night!

  • Sleep Mode on HP Officejet Pro X476dw Multifunction Printer

    My printer use to go to sleep and in standby but for some reason it will not do that any longer.  The screen stay lit all the time.  I have chected all the settings and tried shutting down the printer and starting it up again.  Also the latest firmware is installed.

    I see you there are some odd scanning issues happening with the CM1415fn, shows the preview then its gone. It appears that the computer is a Windows computer, is this correct? If so, what is the version of Windows?
    Try running the Print and Scan Dr, this will look check the drivers, software, etc. Let me know what the results are.
