HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M177fw can't scan or copy

I can not scan or copy. The printer is just showing a message on the display of "calibrating" I have not had any paper jams or changed any toners. I tried a hard reset to see if that would resolve the issue but it did not. I have the printer connected wirelessly. I have only had the unit for 2 weeks.

Unfortunately, the 'calibrating' error state that you have on your printer is a hardware issue. Therefore, any software troubleshooting (such as uninstalling and reinstalling) will have no impact on this issue.
At this time we have exhausted the support options available over the forums. I would strongly recommend that you contact our Technical Support queue by phone to explore hardware replacement options.

  • HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M177FW - photocopy problem

    Hey,
    We have recently changed over the black and colour ink cartridges.  The printer works fine when printing from a document on screen however when using the machine to photocopy the printing quality is really bad, to the point where you cannot read the writing as it is very faded.
    Any idea what the problem might be?

  • How to print envelopes hp laser jet pro mfp m225dw

    Can you please advise as to how I can print invitation style (4 3/8 x 5 2/4) envelopes on the Laser Jet Pro MFP M225dw?  Also, if my template is set up for a horizontal mail merge configuration, how should the envelope be inserted into the printer?

    I would like to assist you today with printing on envelopes with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw.
    Please refer to the document below for step by step instructions on how to load envelopes in your printers paper tray:
    Loading Plain Paper and Envelopes
    Once you have your envelope loaded properly, open up the program that you want to print envelopes from. Because Word seems to be the standard program that people print envelopes from I'm going to provide you with the envelope printing instructions for that specific program. Should these steps not work for you, be sure to respond to this post with your Operating System and the program that you're printing from.
    What's my OS?
    How to Print Envelopes from Word:
    1. Open Word and click on Mailings at the top
    2. Select 'Envelopes' from the top left hand side
    3. An Envelopes and Labels page should now open. Enter your Delivery and Return Addresses.
    4. Select 'Options' on the bottom right hand side.
    5. Under the 'Envelope Options' tab ensure that your Envelope size is appropriately selected.
    6. Select the 'Printing Options' tab at the top. You now need to select the appropriate Feed Method for your product.
    7. Make sure that you choose the 'Face up' option.
    8. Also ensure that 'Clockwise Rotation' is not selected.
    9. Hit 'OK' and 'print'

    I just bout the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw printer today and don't know how to use the scanner. I use Windows 8 operating system. Please advise how to use th scanner function. Thanks.  

    Hi, From page #38 of the manual: Scan by using the HP Scan software (Windows)
    Use the HP Scan software to initiate scanning from software on your computer. You can save the scanned image as a file or send it to another software application.
    1. Load the document on the scanner glass according to the indicators on the product.
    NOTE: For best results, load small-size paper (Letter, A4, or smaller) with the long edge of the paper along the left side of the scanner glass.
    2. Click Start, and then click Programs (or All Programs in Windows XP).
    3. Click HP, and then select your product.
    4. Click HP Scan, select a scanning shortcut, and then adjust the settings if necessary.
    5. Click Scan.
    NOTE: Click Advanced Settings to gain access to more options.
    Click Create New Shortcut to create a customized set of settings and save it in the list of shortcuts. Regards.

    Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I see that your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 127fn has ceased working from PC since performing a Windows 10 update.  I would like to help you with this.  My guess is that this loss of functionality can be attributed to the fact that no Windows 10 driver has been released for your 127fn.  Having said that, I have had some success in reloading Windows 8.1 printer drivers on 10 setups.  I recommend you try the following steps:  Press the Windows key + r and type control panel in the box that pops up. Press Enter. Click on the Devices and Printers folder.  If you see your 127fn in there, right-click on it and remove/delete the printer. Go back to the Control Panel. Click on the Programs and Features Folder (might appear as Apps and Features).  Look for your printer's software and uninstall it. Once that's completed click here and install the 8.1-friendly driver for your printer.  Follow the usual prompts to complete the setup. Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.   • New color laserjet pro mfp m177 will not scan or copy

    Product is new. The problem is that this unit will not scan or copy.  I downloaded the latest drivers, but they would not install completely.  I also ran thru some trouble shooting guides on the HP website, but still it doesn't work.  It tries to make a copy, but it acts like it starts and then stops without completing the function.  It's almost like the scanner mechanism is stuck.  Anyone ever have this problem with a brand new printer?

I'd like to help you with this. Firstly, do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
    In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
    ^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers. If the issue persists, I would suggest download and installing the most recent firmware for your unit. You can download the firmware update utility here:HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw Firmware UpdateNote: You will need to connect the printer via USB to update the firmware, as any interruption during the firmware update can cause more issues. If this still does not resolve the issue, please let me know if you are getting some sort of error message on the screen or any blinking lights to indicate what the problem may be. Hope this helps!

  • Laser Jet Pro MFP M476nw printing lines of nonsense until it runs out of paper

    I have a Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476nw, and it has begun printing out pages of nonsense symbols until it runs out of paper.  This is particularly bad when I print from a website, sometimes from emails, etc., and it is wasting tons of paper.  I am extremely dissatisifed with this printer, and it is not even a year old yet.  I have tried turning it off and then restarting it, but the problem comes back.  Is this normal for this particular all-in-one?  I bought it instead of a Brother, which I had last, and expected better for my money.

    If the output is repeatable (i.e. exactly the same when reprinting the same document, using the same driver, to the same device), then it is likely that it is caused by a driver (or driver settings) fault.
    There may be a more up-to-date driver available, or (depending on the printer model) you may perhaps be able to switch to a driver using a different Page Description Language (i.e. PCL5 or PostScript or PCL6 (the 'marketting' name for the PCL XL PDL), depending on which you are currently using).
    If the error(s) is/are random, they are much more likely to be the result of intermittent corruptions of the generated print stream between the workstation and the device (check cables, ports, switches, etc.); it could also possibly be an intermittent problem with the printer itself.

    I Own two HP All-in-Ones.  First is an Officejet 7500A and second is an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw. I hooked my Phone line to the 7500 and was able to send and receive FAX's, but no matter what I did (Including setting it to Automatically Receive FAXes), it would only receive faxes if I Manually hit the "Accept FAX" notification when the FAX Line rings.  IThis means I have to make a mad Dash to the Office anytime the FAX Line Rings.... So, I purchased a new All-In-One (HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw) hoping it would solve the problem.  Once again, I set it to Auto Receive and it will only Manually Receive.  The Mad dash Continues... Some Notes:Yes, the phone line is set up in the correct plug-in.Yes, it will receive FAXes, but only if i Manually receiveYes, I have the FAX in AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE ModeYes, it is set to receive in One Ring Help please

  • HP Color Laser Jet CM1312fi MFP- My printer is not Wireless-C​apable.

    I used to print remotely through my wireless modem/router (printer was connect to router by USB and we could print from our wireless capable laptops from anywhere in the house)  but now I can't remember how to set it up....
    I connected the wireless router to the printer with a USB cable.  It seems like it was pretty easy when I set it up before but making the router to printer connection itself didn't do the trick.  Do I need to re-load the printer's software on my computer (and on my office partner's computer) as a "Network" printer?
    Am I making this more difficult than it should be?
    If the answer was on the HP website, I couldn't find it.  The wireless page talks about hardwiring the printer to the router, but doesn't say how to make the printer respond...
    (I know that our next printer will be wireless, but why should I throw out a perfectly good printer before it becomes a necessity?)

    You need to connect your printer to your router with an Ethernet cable, not a USB cable.
    Then, go to all of the PCs and go to Start > Control Panel > Printers and delete all old instances of the printer.
    Finally,:
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
    If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

    Hi, I need to know if I can connect my new printer to my computer with an ethernet line? is that what they mean by networking in the manual?

    I believe they mean connecting the printer to a network (ie, router) with an Ethernet cable.  Then all the computers that connect to your router (wired or wireless, does not matter) can use the printer and scanner.

  • Any idea why I can't print using Photoshop Elements 13 and an HP Color Laser Jet printer?

    Windows 7 with Photoshop Elements 13 - Recently purchased Elements 13 and haven't been able to print!  I have an HP Color Laser Jet CMI1312nfi MFP and printed fine last year with a trial version of Elements 12.  I keep getting errors saying "the saved print information is an incompatible version.  It has been set to default values" as well as "default printer could not be opened."  I downloaded an update to the driver for the printer today but still no luck.   Any other ideas? 

    I ended up reinstalling the drivers for the Canon from the original CD and that took care of it. Normally I can just copy the PPDs for our particular printers to the PPD folder in the Library/Printers/PPDs folder and it works fine, but for some reason this machine decided it needed everything reinstalled. It's working now.
