HP color laserjet 4600 parallel port is wierd need help to identify

Hi I have a laserjet 4600 and it has a wierd looking parallel port and I can't seem to find out the name for it so I can buy it online. I have tried looking for it online but the only thing that comes up is the IEEE 1284 36 pin parallel port. Can anyone help me identify this port so I can connect it to my computer?
Thanks

This is a working printer. It is presently hooked to a network and it works from it. I am trying to make it work from my notebook. I am using a ethernet cable wired directly to the Jetdirict card.

This should work for you.  I've installed several printers using a Jet Direct this way:
Install the printer manually.  Go into Devices and Printers -> Click "Add a printer" then select "add a local printer" and select the option for "Create a new port - Standard TCP/IP Port" and click next.  Type the IP address of the printer into the Hostname/IP Address field then click "next" -  Choose Hewlett Packard Jet Direct from the Standard drop down menu then click next.  You will need to select your printer model/driver from the list and then click next.

I can not find drivers for HP Color LaserJet 4600 PCL6. I'm running Windows 7 - 64bit. Why does this always have to be so difficult?

    Hey there,

Click - Obtain Software and follow the instructions within.
The driver that you need is provided through Windows Update, and should come natively with Windows 7.

  • Connecting a HP LaserJet 4000 parallel port to Windows 7 USB port

I have been using a HP LaserJet 4000 via a parallel port for years on a variety of machines / Operating systems without issue. However, having purchased a new Laptop (Windows 7  64bit), there is no parallel port (unsurprisingly). So the question is 'How do I connect my legacy parallel printer to the USB port ?

I was using a parallel to USB cable, but for some reason it stopped working.

  • Color LaserJet CP1518ni blue print with red shadows, help !

Blue text prints with a red shadow on the right side of the page only.  There is no magenta in the blue.  All other colors print fine.  I have tried a new magenta cartridge and it was the same.  All cartridges are OEM.  I updated the firmware and it did not help.  Calibrted and cleaned many times.  Any ideas?

I have a similar issue with a Laserjet cp1525nw, it was mostly corrected by removing and reseating the toner cartridges.

  • Color Laserjet 2600n print quality is terrible! Help!

I have had my 2600n for about two years now and I've never been able to get it to print like it should, the demo page is beautiful every time, but anything from my computer looks terrible, there are certain things I can tweak and they'll print pretty well but I'm constantly running into problems. I would blame it on the toner or the printer but like I said, the demo page looks amazing every time, so it has to be a computer thing. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I'm getting so frustrated and I feel like the only fix is spending $300-400 on a new printer which I'd hate to do because this printer should be fine!  I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9, I used to have a Windows 7 PC and I'm pretty sure it had the same problems.
If anyone has any ideas for me I will be forever grateful!

The Colour LaserJet 2600n printer is a host-based device, which means that:
It doesn't understand any of the traditional Page Description Languages (PCL5, PCL6, PostScript).
All of the major work of rendering is done on the host workstation.
What is sent to the printer is (a series of) encapsulated, compressed, raster images; the printer just unencapsulates and uncompresses these, and prints the resultant pixels.
Perhaps what is happening is that the Mac (which, as far as I'm aware) usually natively generates PostScript jobs, and these must be converted (by whatever the Mac equivalent of a printer driver is) to the required (proprietary) host-based format - such conversions sometimes introduce unwanted issues.
Having said that, if you also experienced the same problems with a Windows 7 workstation, then something else may be responsible for the poor quality.

  • No output sound from output port/analog audio: Need help

hello, I want to connect my analog audio equipment to my iMac. I have done this in the past with my old G3. I have connected the RCA cables to a 3.5 mm jack and put it into the audio input port, which was what worked on the G3. When I open the sound page for input & output, on Output I can see the volume bar thing moving in relation to the sounds from mic, turntable, etc: all the analog audio things. However, there is no actual output of sound through the iMac;s speakers or a headphone. The output page is pretty simple so I am real sure I have all the rigt things checked, unchecked etc. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had what sounds like a similar problem to jazzzrat. i had my macbook setup to a stereo and it worked for over a year. suddenly no sound came out of the stereo. in my case, it definitely was a software setup thing.
plug in your stereo jack into the audio out port. then go to system preferences-->sound-->output. on there you should see, under "device for sound output": Name=Headphones, port=built-in output. (if you see name=built in speakers, you plugged in the wrong plug). Now go down to the bottom of the window and UNcheck the "mute" box, and make sure the volume slider is midway or more.
For some reason, mac allows you to mute the "headphones" and "built in speakers" selectively. we have no idea how that box got checked, that remains a complete mystery. but when we eventually found -- and unchecked -- the box, our stereo output came back just fine.
i hope this works for you. good luck and have a good new year.

  • Color selection tool has stopped working [was: need help with indesign cs6]

I am working in InDesign cs6 and my color selection tool stopped working.

Do I reply here? I have been creating a newspaper in InDesign cs6 and the color selection box won't work any longer.  It used to work just fine, but now it won't let me access it.
Someone in tech support last night before they went away, was directing me to: Go to Folder from my desktop, and then to Preferences, then to ~/Library/, then to InDesign version 8.0 and en US.  Then we lost contact and I didn't know what to do next, so I still have the problem.

  • Installed Parallels and XP but need help...

I saw a post yesterday mentioning to change the version of Windows you are installing to other and then after installing change it back to XP. How do I change it back to XP?
    Thanks much

I also am having problems with the same type of printer you have but I can't even get my printer to come on. No matter how many times I press the on button nothing happens. All the ub cords are hooked up right, I inserted the CD it came with and have it as my main printer but I am getting no where with it. And the sad thing about it I was so convinced I could hook it up as I have hooked up other printers and got them to work that I opened the box got everything out and then threw the box in the dump. So now I can't take it back to get my money back. Could you please tell me how you got yours to at least come on????
P.S. Mine is a printer, copier and scanner but I can't get it to come on.
    Thanks

  • Spinning color wheel when accessing iTunes and iPods Need Help

I hope somebody can offer some help. I have an iMac G5 running Leopard 10.5.6 and the latest version of iTunes and have several iPods ranging from an old iPod photo up to my newest 160 GB classic purchased about a week ago. My iTunes library is stored on a LaCie 1 TB external USB2 drive.
On to my issue. When I access iTunes I often get the spinning wheel but especially often when I try to hook up one of my iPods to sync anything. For instance I will hook up an iPod and then click on the books tab of the iPod in iTunes to select what to sync. I will get the spinning wheel for several minutes before it finally opens the tab. When it finally does, it let's me select what I want but then if I they hit apply button, I get the wheel again for several minutes before it finally syncs. It is driving me nuts. At first I thought it was my new iPod but it does it on my others as well.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

try if updating to 10.5.8 helps. get the combo updater from here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate. repair permissions before and after running the installer.
when done, check software update from the  menu and install any updates offered.

  • HP Color LaserJet Laser/Scanner Assembly Removal

    Hello,
I have a HP Color Laserjet 4600 in a hundred pieces. I'm experiencing the 51.2 error, specifically with the Magenta Laser/Scanner Assembly. I have diagnosed a few simple fixes found in these forums as well as others to try to find out what my problem is. I would really like to get the Magenta Laser/Scanner Assembly out of the printer and do the troubleshooting of it with the motor-as some have mentioned-or replacing it complete. The problem is I'm so close but I'm not sure how to get the Laser/Scanner Assembly out.
    Thus far I have removed:
All panels-the manila plastic ones-, Top/left/right
The housing on the back where the NIC's go.
I'm currently staring at the 4 Laser/Scanner Assembly's-from the back, and I don't know how they are supposed to come out.
Do they all have to come out at the same time along with the frame around them?
Do I have to remove the top metal housing where the Fuser/Fans-where the paper would pop out at the top-?
On the right side of the case-if your staring at the printer from the front-there is a huge circuit board, do I have to take that off?
All in all I have successfully disassembled the printer and I'm staring at about 20parts and 1,000 screws, how much more will I have to take apart before I decide I'm in way over my head? I have fixed many a printer's in my day but this would be the first time I've gotten this involved.
    Thanks!

    Nevermind!
I figured it out, there are two metal columns about an inch in width that run top to bottom each with one screw holding it in place, undo the screw and pull the top out and a hing-like pin at the bottom will line up and come free.

  • HP Color LaserJet 3600(not 3600n) with Fast Ethernet port - can I use it?

Hello! There is a HP Color LaserJet 3600 in our company connected via USB with XP-based PC. Recently I decided that we need this printer be shared directly trough our ethernet network, so I started to learn manuals - its own manual, Jet Direct, and all that stuff. The printer's manual says that HP Color Laserjet 3600 does not have neither its own ethernet port, nor support for embedded print-server like JetDirect 620n.
    But!
Visual check  shows that this HP 3600 DOES have its own ethernet port and if I connect it to network or at least to a notebook - it blinks like any other ethernet port with "lights" should do.
    However.
Neither front panel, nor back panel says anything about network support(like letter "n" in model name).
Configuration page print also does not know about that mysterious port.
    So my questions are:
    1. What is this port actually?
    2. Can I use it to share printer over network? Maybe, there is a way to upload 3600n's firmware somehow?

The product you have seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

  • HP Color Laserjet CM1312nfi MFP and OSX Yosemite

Hello all. I have a HP Color Laserjet CM1312nfi MFP, and i can't install it on OSX 10.10 Yosemite. When i plug in the USB cable, nothing happens. My Mac does not find the printer, and i can't install driver from HP's website. All USB ports in my Mac works, and i can plug the cable in a Windows computer, where there is no problem at all. I tried to update the firmware through a Windows computer, but it did not helped. Any suggestions?

The HP drivers won't load on my 10.10.x (10.10.1 thru 10.10.4) OSX macbook pro.  The install says the version of OSX isn't supported even thought I've tried 1.5.0 dmg file which is for 10.7 and greater.  I did the math and I believe 10.10.x is greater than any version of 10.7.  I also tried HP Easy Scan and it doesn't even see my scanner.  Printing works fine, but I scan a lot of paper.  Also, I've found that the Mac OSX version of the HP software (when it still worked) creates obscenely large PDF files.  I can get around this by opening Adobe Acrobat Pro and re-saving the file as a reduced file size with the same name.  I can take a 25 MB file HP creates and get it down to about 300KB or so.  I found a way around all this but you won't like it.  I've loaded Parallels (installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit) and installed the windows client in my parallels image.  The windows client works fine.  Not a solution I prefer, but this is an HP issue not an apple issue .... HP hasn't put out a driver for this printer in the better part of 3.5 years.  Lastly, I'm not hooking up a USB cable to my printer/fax/scanner .... what's the point of having a dhcp network capable printer if I have to hard wire to a PC? I've used HP printers since the mid-'90s, but I guess it's time to find a company that supports OSX.
