HP Color Laserjet CP1215 on XP home network will not print from second computer.

Win XP SP3 home network with two computers and one HP Color Laserjet CP1215 printer(USB) that is shared.   Computer one prints just fine, but second computer cannot print.
Print job goes to the queue and says "printing" and stays there for about two minutes and then says "error - printing" and then I have to delete the print job from the print queue.
Downloaded latest CP1215 print driver and installed it to second computer, added printer just fine.  No errors until the print job enters the queue. Downloaded the CP1215 Diagnostic Utility, but it will not work on second computer.  Have not tried it on first computer when job errors.

The Firewalls are disabled and from my laptop you can view all of the shared
Folders on the Desktop with the CP1215 attached via USB.
When I issue the print from my laptop that is on the same network, you see the
print file show up in the CP1215 print queue of the Desktop the CP1215
is USB attached to and then disappears about 15 seconds later.  Here is
how it appears on in the Desktop CP1215 Print Queue before it disappears
Doc Name            Status      Owner     Pages    Size            Submitted            Port
E-mail print           Printing      Guest          1      547 KB     2:00pm 08/26/09      USB003
I've also download/installed the latest drivers.  When I reinstall the CP1215 on my laptop from
the Desktop, the "PRINT TEST PAGE works from the Laptop but then all print commands after
that do not work.
I see from my Google search I'm not the only one having this problem
ANY IDEAS what to try next?

  • LaserJet Pro Scans, prints test page but will not print from a file

I installed a LaserJet Pro200 MFP M276nw on my wife's Toshiba Satellite (Windows 7 64Bit OS) laptop yesterday (Printer is brand new out of the box). I installed with a wireless connection. It will print a test page and also scan wirelessly but will not print from a file i.e. a PDF. I installed it on my HP Probook this morning and it works fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The thought of paying Geek Squad 75 bucks rubs me the wrong way, especially since i just paid them 100 for an extended warranty. Thanks!

  • HP Laserjet 4100 on network will not print

Since I’ve installed Snow Leopard, I have not been able to print with my HP Laserjet 4100.
My set-up: new 24” iMac, many hard drives and more. Two devices: HP Color Laserjet 5550 and HP Officejet J5750 are connected to the iMac through a USB Hub. Although initially scanning did not work with the J5750, I was able to make that work once additional drivers were downloaded from HP. Both work fine.
I also have an older HP Laserjet 4100 which has been my steady workhorse for years. It only has Ethernet and serial port outlets. It is connected to an AT&T 2-Wired Ethernet Hub/DSL Modem (model 2701HG-B) that is connected to the iMac.
I’ve contacted HP and Apple about this problem. None of the three people I worked with at Apple could help and the HP representative was unsure if they could help but that it would cost me $40 to find out. According to HP website, since Apple Talk no longer exists, we are required to input the IP for the device. For the 4100, the IP address is 10.0.1.100. I tried this two ways: in the “Add Printer” window under “IP,” inputted as the IPP, and inputted as the HP Jetdirect Socket (as per the HP instructions). When this is done, the printer shows up when you give a print command. However, it does not show up in the “Add Printer” window under “default” or anywhere else.
Status: If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable directly to the back of the iMac, the “Supply” level indicates the true level of toner in the 4100. However, it will not print. If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable to the Ethernet hub, the supply level does not show nor can I print.
    Any suggestions?

I am struggling with the same problem. I have two HP 4100dtn printers on ethernet. Each has a manually assigned IP address. I can set up the printer(s) just fine in the Print & Fax Preference and Snow Leopard finds the printer just fine when I enter the IP address and chooses the correct HP Driver.
When I try to print, my print job appears in the queue as expected, than an error appears that something about a "bad command". Sorry, I'm home right now and don't have direct access to the printer so I can't give you the precise language of the message, but the gist of the message is that the system tried to connect to the printer to send the print data but the printer does not know how to respond to the command that was sent.
It's as if the firmware in the 4100 just doesn't have something in it's lexicon that Snow Leopard needs. The HP web site is no help. One page I found says the printer is supported (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01664444&jumpid=regR1002USEN ) and another page I found says that it is not supported (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01879014&jumpid=regR1002USEN). The HP on line chat won't let me log in and hold a chat with HP unless I know the Serial Number of the printer, which I don't have here at home.
    More to follow tomorrow.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Office jet 4620 on network, will not print

I have an Office Jet 4620 on my wireless network at home.
It has worked well until I installed a new router. The network sees the printer, I have entered my network password into the printer software.
When I try to print the printer makes a little noise then locks up. The only way to get the printer to turn off is to pull the power cord.
    Any ideas?

    Hello kalister1,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your Officejet 4620 will not print. I will do my best to assist you! I am going to suggestion two options for you to try:
Please follow this entire HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. Also, I would recommend following this HP document on Sleep Mode Issues. Your printer could be going into a sleep mode, this is why you're experiencing this kind of issue.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night.

  • My HP Laserjet 1020 will not print from Internet Explorer 9

I just get an error message saying that "an error occurred on the script on this page."  The printer works fine with other software.  Moreover, Internet Explorer will print perfectly on my old HP deskjet 940c.  I've downloaded the latest driver for the Laserjet 1020, but it doesn't help.  Any suggestions?

  • Laser Jet Pro CM1415fnw color will not print from eprint

Laser Jet Pro CM1415fnw color printer will print from laptop but not from email. Signal on printer has strong internet connection and so does computer.  I tried to send a pic with my phone but it did not print.

I will need a little more info in order to help out. If you send the printer an ePrint of a text document, will it print that plan document? Also, if the picture that you are sending is less than 100 DPI (dot per inch) the printer will not print that because of the quality. You can send the picture to the computer, open it and the right click on it and look under “properties” and it will give you the DPI information.  It is labeled vertical and horizontal resolution. Lastly, what type of phone do you have? What email client are you using to send the picture to the printer?

  • Color LaserJet 1600 on a home network?

I'm looking for a way to make my Color LaserJet 1600 available to my entire home network.  It's currently connected via USB to my wife's desktop running Vista Home Basic, which in turn is connected via ethernet to my router.  The other three machines on the network are my two daughters' desktops running XP Home and my laptop running Vista Home Premium; all three are on the wireless side of the router.  Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced wireless or ethernet print server that is compatible with the Color LaserJet 1600?  Failing that, is there a workaround I can use to let all the computers on the network share the printer while it is connected to my wife's computer?

You can use windows printer sharing to let everyone on your home network print to your LaserJet. Here is some instructions from Microsoft on using windows printer sharing with Vista:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Enable-file-and-printer-sharing
The primary disadvantage of this approach, compared to a dedicated print server, is that your wife's desktop must be on and running for others to print.

  • 1505n printer wired to network will not print configuration for IP address

I have a HP 1505n printer that will not the configuration page so that I can get the IP address to set it up. I know it's not the cat5e cable because I've tested it by plugging my laptop to and it works fine.  The operating system is Windows 2008r2. I currently have 2 other 1505n printers which work great using a HP universal driver. Cat5e cable unplugged it will print and UBS cable connected to a PC it will print a usb config page. I followed HP's advice on resetting the printer but get the same results. Any suggestions?

  • One computer on network will not print.

I am using a HP LasterJet P2055dn network printer on a small office network that has 3 computers on it. All computer are wired. For some reason I can not get one of the printers to print. It is using XP. I have used all the HP utilities to try and fix the problem and they all say it should be working fine. Any suggestions?

OK, are your firewalls disabled (Windows & Securty Program)?
If so, you may want to delete the printer and then re-add it in Printers (Start, Printers).  Here is how (these are for XP, Vista 64 will be similar):
Verify that you can browse to the printer's internal web page by its IP address in a browser.
    1. Click "Start" button --> Printers.
    2. Under Printer Tasks, click "Add Printer".
    3. Click "Next" button on the Add Printer Wizard window.
    4. Select "Local printer attached to this computer". Deselect "Automatically detect and install My Plug and play printer". Click "Next".
    5. Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next" button.
    6. In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to same network that your computer is connected to. Click "Next" button.
    7. Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the printer's IP address. Click "Next" then click "Finish".
    8. Now, select HP from the list of manufacturers, select your printer from the list of Printer models and click 'Next' button.
    9. If you can't find your printer, you'll need to find the install CD and use the "Have Disk" option to select one of the hp*.ini files. Alternatively, you can select another HP printer model from the same type.
    10. Add the print spooler name and click "Next".
    11. Click "Next"
    12. Click "Next" and then "Finish"

Have you tried updating the firmware for the printer yet?
In the firmware update notes, one of the items listed is "Fixed memory leak issue".
Here is a link to the firmware update, I would definitely recommend trying it out. From the sound of it, it should fix your issue.

  • 7525 Wirelessly connected, loses internet connection, will not print from wireless network

Have a 7525 Photosmart printer (approx 7 months in service) that has been working great until now.  I had to change the dsl/wireless router over the weekend and now I can't print wirlessly from the network.  According to the printer diagnostics, the printer is connected to the network but each time I try to print, the computer being used can't find the printer.  Checking the Wireless Network Test Results page, all is fine except there is no internet connection.  Restoring the internet connection requires a 're-boot' of the printer, i.e., switching it off and unplugging, after which network printing is restored.  However, that only lasts for a very short time, less than 1 minute, then no more network printing.
I think there is something fishy with the IP address.  HP Print and Scan Doctor can't find the printer using this address. Typing the IP address into the browser gets an error message that the page cannot be found.  That address should lead you to the printer page, but it does not.  Changing the router resulted in an IP address change for the printer, but I wasn't even able to manually set the IP address via HP troubleshooting as it required the ability to get to the printer page from the IP address.
I am rambling on, but I have reached my knowledge limit and hope that someone can give me some other suggestions on what to try next.    Thanks

Hi Seenders and welcome to the HP Forum,
I understand that you are having connection issues with the printer on the network. I will try my best to help you resolve this issue. In this document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection are different solutions that may resolve your connections issues. Once you have the printer up on the network make sure you update the IP Address on your computer.
I hope this information is useful. Let me know how it works out.

  • IPAD2 with HP APP and connected to local network will not print?

Will not print e-mail on Safari?

    Hello HarryE,
What model of Netgear do you have? Have you ever been able to print from your IPad 2? You can try to unplug the router, then the printer and then turn off your ipad 2, then restart the router and when all the lights are back on, turn on the printer, then turn your ipad 2 back on, and then try printing again. Reply back if you still have issues!!

  • HP Color Laserjet CP1215 won't print on local computer

    I am using Windows XP.
I have an HP Color LaserJet CP1215 connected to my computer by a USB cable.  It has printed many times, but I don't use it often.  I turned it on this morning to print an excel spreadsheet in color.  I use an HP Laserjet 4100 connected on a regular printer port for most of my printing.  Anyway this printer will not print from any program.  It will not print a test page.  I turned it off and on; restarted my computer; switched out USB cables; downloaded a new driver from HP.  I also download the diagnostic tool from HP and when it scans it, it finds it and says it is fine, but it will not print a test page from the diagnostic tool.  I have stopped the printer spool and restarted it.  I have done absolutely everything I can think of or that I have seen as a solution on HP.com and in my windows printer diagnostic tool.
The weird thing is it prints when connected to another computer.  I hauled it to another office and connected it to another computer (Windows 7) and when connected it told me there was a problem with the driver, so I downloaded a driver from HP.com and it worked fine.   The REALLY weird thing is I can share it on my computer, go to another office, add it as a network printer and it works.    Why would it work as a shared printer, but not work for the computer to which it is physically connected?
When I attempt to print, the document shows up in the printer spool and says "printing."  Then after a few minutes, it says "deleting" even though I have not manually deleted it.
Anyone have any ideas?  I am fresh out.  I hate to think I have to walk to another office in my building to print to a printer that is right beside me.    Although it may be a good exercise.

I am currently in the same boat. I love how you posted this legitimate issue 3 years ago and there is still no resolution. It really reflects on the company's character and attitude toward their customers.
Hopefully this will get a response.
