Hp compap 6720s

  • 6720 Classic TV-Out option

    Hello All
The 6720 is listed on the specs page of Nokia.com as having the TV-Out facillity.  The CA75u TV Out cable is a recommended option.  This is one of the reasons I chose it as a gift.
Can anybody with a 6720 tell me if they have used this function?
I cannot get it to work.
The settings for it are in the phone and are set correctly.  The cable is known to be good.
I just cant get any video from the 6720 though the audio did go through the last time I tried it.
Also, after removing the TV Out cable, no audio can be heard on incoming calls though the speaker still plays stored video soundtracks or ringtones etc.  The phone becomes useless until cycled off and on again at which time received call audio is restored.
Its running the latest firmware (haha).  My first post to the forums was about bricking it during the update.
Appart from the style, to say I am not overly impressed with this phone so far would be a moderate understatement.
Regards all and thanks in advance for any info.

    The story continues...
When I ordered this phone from the online shop (including express delivery which took 6 days) I was served by a very nice person with good comprehension who told me if there were any problems, in fact even if the recipient simply didn't like the phone as a gift, I could just call customer services and they would collect for immediate refund or exchange.
Well I did have problems (wrong charger/firmware update bricked it/no TV-Out) and I did phone up and they DIDN'T honour the sales pitch!!!! I was told I had to take the phone to my nearest NSC. There was no point in them sending me a charger at this point as I would have no phone but they told me I could call again when the phone was fixed and the charger would be sorted.
The NSC said they could not swap the charger, I would have to recontact customer services for that but they would fix the phone.
Well it turns out they couldn't fix the phone either and sent it back to Nokia.
I phoned Nokia again, explained the NSC couldn't fix my phone and they offered me the address of another NSC!!! Oh how I larffed (NOT!)  I tried to explain that I could not go to another NSC now as the first NSC had sent my phone away but the message seemed to get lost in the translation.
Anyway I eventually gave up and just waited... and waited ...and waited some more, my poor old Ma without her phone for something like 3 weeks plus!
Eventually I got a call from the local NSC to say that my phone was ready for collection.  There was no fault report, no explanation of any kind and the phone had been replaced.  I asked the NSC if they could check it had the latest firmware (as I did not want to brick it again) and was told they were only allowed to do the work Nokia paid for and therefore would not do the update. I collected what was supposed to be a new phone (I have my doubts) and left.
On Monday I called "aftersales" to see about the charger and got through to a translationally challenged call centre again.  I was told that I should have called within 28 days and basically I couldn't have one. After a lot of slow phonetic spelling of my details, the operative said they would have to speak to a supervisor but that there was no supervisor available. I was promised a return call but guess what ? it didn't come!  So I called back the next day (that would be GROUNDHOG DAY!!!!) and had exactly the same sort of protracted, pointless, circular conversation with somebody who obviously didn't have a clue what they were talking about. and guess what? I was promised a return call.  I explained to the operative that I was working, that I could not answer my mobile whilst on site but gave them a landline number.  I asked that they call the landline first but that it was a very busy works line and to leave a message on my voicemail or even email me (they had that addy too) if they couldn't get through.
Well, at least they rang back this time!  ON MY MOBILE! just before my shift ended on Wednesday!
They told me that a charger would be dispatched that night and thanked me for answering the call????
To my surprise the charger actually arrived this morning!
So it's now the 11th of February and my poor old Ma finally has her Christmas present.
I also called the sales line again to ask about the TV-out cable.  (I may be being cynical here but it's funny how the people who's job it is to TAKE MONEY have no trouble understanding you!)
They confirmed that my existing, known good and tested CA75 cable is the same for both the N95 8GB and the 6720c so no problem there then.
The only thing is Ma now doesn't want me to plug in the TV-out lead in case the phone breaks again so (A) one of the main reason for purchasing this model was a waste of money and (B) I may never find out if works or not and thats bugging me.
Anywho, to bring this fiasco to a close,  I am not exactly overly impressed with Nokia.
I think the product is being built down to a price and it shows!  I think the aftersales service is being sourced to a price and it shows.
In fact I think Nokia have become like a caricature of there former self and need to take a long hard look at how they do things.
I was about to invest in the new N900 and probably a Booklet 3G eventually.  I suspect I have probably re evaluated that purchasing decision slightly in the last few weeks.

  • Very Weird - Multiple MMS 6720 problems

    Hi,
Not sure if the problem is with my phone or one of the recipients but here it is:
I have a Nokia 6720 and today i sent an MMS to 4 members of my family, just added them all in to the recipient line via my contacts so that it was a multiple recipient MMS to save me sending one at a time. My Dad (who has the same contacts as I do)  has a Blackberry and got my MMS but it said it came to him from my brother who was another one of the recipients of my MMS, not from me. He then just hit reply and his reply went to all the recipients I had sent the original MMS to (me, my 2 brother's and my Mum). He said it also happened to him the other day, he said he got an MMS of a photo that I sent, but it said the Sender was my Mum who was one of the people I also sent it to using the same method as above...AWKWARD since they are divorced.....
Is this a problem with my phone when sending a multiple person text or MMS, or do you think it's his Blackberry or the service provider (we all use the same service provider). I don't really want to be sending multiple recipient texts out and have people receiving messages from or replying to other random people and everyone getting confused!
Thanks in advance for any help

    The above advice is good.
Also, do you have a regular PATA drive you can try as your primary disk?  A PATA drive with a 8MB cache at least will get you up and running fairly respectfully until you can hash out the SATA situation.  (you can do your work)
That's what I did initially when I had trouble with installing Windows XP on my SATA drive.  PATA was better then nothing.  Finally I installed XP from the CD, creating new partitions with NTFS, and my SATA drive has been working fine since then.

  • Can i use 5.1 speakers for my compaq 6720s laptop? please be kind to write at least a word

my sound card driver is -- soundmax intergrated digital hd audio .....my laptop is compaq 6720s running on vista 32bit
i have only one slot for sound output(headphone)......and have 3 cables from the 5.1 sound system........... please tell me what to do

    Cameron,
It all depends on the audio content. The iMac will support 5.1 audio as long as you are using the optical output. As for the songs...most music isn't encoded in 5.1 so the true features of your system you probably won't see (or rather hear). Certain newer CD's often come with a DVD that has 5.1 content on them, have you tried to listen to them?

  • UJ-220 BD-RE Blu-Ray Drive Burner on HP Compaq 6720s laptop

    Happy New Year!
    I received from a friend a UJ-220 BD-RE Blu-Ray Drive Burner from a broken Sony PCG-391M.
It's possible to install it on my HP Compaq 6720s laptop? They are the same connectors (PATA) IDE interface.
I need a driver? I dont't want to write BLURAY just to read.
Or, it-s possible to buy in Romania a USB 2.0 External Enclosure For UJ-220?
    Thank you!

  • Nokia 6720 classic, synchronise Outlook contacts &...

Firstly 6720 classic does not appear in the menu of handsets when downloading PC suite, any suggestions?
Having installed the version for the nearest handset I could find, when I attempt to synchronise I recieve the following report ' your outlook message store might have been moved. Please re-select Outlook profile and required folders'.
This I have done twice, the folders are corrrect, can anyone help?

    Hello
I use an old version of outlook express so my solution may not work for you but I'll share it anywho just in case.  I  didn't know you could sync with a folder until I started using Sony PC Suite.  I didn't want any of my outlook contacts on my phone as they are purely pc based email contacts so I found a bit of a cheet which also gives you a good safety net for your contacts.
I've only tried this with .WAB files so YMMV.
Go into outlook, open the address book, click "file" and "export" your contacts to a file somewhere you can easily find it then close outlook.
In windows exploder, go to the file you just created and rename it something useful like 6720contacts.WAB.
Now if you double click that file it should automatically open the address book without opening outlook.
Delete all the contacts and resave with the same file name.
What you should now have is an empty but correctly formatted .WAB file with a memorable name and in a safe but convenient place in your PC file system.
Next, connect your phone via PC Suite as normal, open the sync application and select settings. You may have to go into advanced settings (I'm not sure) but somewhere in there it allows you to set (a) which type of file you wish to use (ie .WAB) and (b) the path to that file name, for which there is a "browse" button so you don't have to remember the full path. Just set this last one to the file you just created and Roberta's ya Aunty!
On the "collisions" tab, set to update in one direction and from phone to PC only for this first use.  You can change it later once you have a stored file.
I would also select contacts only as the bookmarks bit is rubbish on my system but again YMMV.
Once you've found and changed the right settings, save them, close the settings dialogue box and hit "sync now".
When syncing is complete, double click the file in exploder once more and you should see a complete list of your contacts.
What appears will depend on PC Suite version, outlook version, which colums you have set to display and probably phone type.
When you're all done you can copy the file to a secure folder, floppy disc (what's them like grandad?), CD rom or pen drive to give you a totally secure backup.  Just don't forget to sync the backup each time you sync and you'll be good to go.
I discovered all the above with an N95 8Gb (Unlocked and debranded) running Euro 1 firmware and NSeries PC suite.
NSeries PC Suite is the only one I've found which will show more than one mobile number per contact.  It may well say "unsupported" on the sync report but it DOES still store them.
PCSuite 7 won't show second mobile numbers at all.  I don't know if it will store/restore them and I'm not about to dump my phones contents to find out but feel free to let me know if you try it haha!
OVI Suite is a malicous hack of a programme.  I installed it as a secound account user and yet it still wiped out NSeries PC Suite on my own log in.
Anywho, Like I say it depends which versions of each component you're using but I hope the above proves useful for somebody if not yourself.

  • Nokia 6720 - Memorycard is full.

    Hi.
I have had the same phone model befor with a older version of "ovi maps", which worked perfectly. But it got stolen.
Now i just bought a new Nokia 6720. And a new memorycard (8 GB).
Everything works exept when i try to download maps to the phone. Then i get the "Not Enough Memory for Update/Memorycard is full". And it tells me to clear some space on the phone. The map im trying to download is 110 MB (cant even load a 2 Mb mapvoice) and i have 7,6 gb free space. Tryed diffrent maps a few times but still no luck.
So i thought that i needed to format the new memorycard. And did so. Everything work still as befor, exept the maps. It still doesnt work. Still says that the memorycard is full....
Some help in this would be great.. I whant my maps
This info is seen in OVI about the device:
    Nokia 6720
    Version: 031.022 (newest)
Device memory: 53.5 MB Free of 67.2 MB
Memorycard: 7.59 GB Free of  7.60 GB

Can you see the memory card using application manager? Did you format the memory card on the phone? There is a possibility the card is faulty.
The other possibility is the directory structure has not been set up on the memory card for Nokia Maps. If this is the case, you need to start Nokia Maps application once to create the folder structure and then try downloading the map data again.

  • Receiving emails on the 6720 Classic

    Hi all
I have configured my 6720 to send emails (and that works) but I can't get it to receive emails.
I've tried this in two ways: (a) specifying incoming and outgoing settings for MyEmail and (b) running the email set-up wizard (which creates a new inbox for me). I can send emails from both MyEmail and my new wizard-created, but neither will receive emails.
    Does anyone have an ideas?
    Thanks

I would suggest you search the board by entering "Can't send e-mail" in the search box at the top of this page.. There are no. of threads on this subject and hopefully you get the answer in one of them.. all the best..

  • NOKIA 6720 bug

Hi all, I use nokia 6720 and I found that when the battery is low and show massage 'low battery'. Then it go to power saving mode and this saving mode was canceled when I plug charger. However, the problem is when battery was charged fully, the power saving mode automatically work again. How do you think? Is this program bug or hardware problem?
    Thanks.

I really hope someone will answer your question because I have just aquired a brand new 6720 as a replacement for my not very old, previous Nokia phone and am having the same problem. I basically can't see anything.

  • 6720 Christmas Brick after update

    Hello All
I bought me Ma a 6720 for Christmas.  It came brand new, direct from the factory with firmware 12.008.  I only found one obvious bug, you couldn't access bluetooth devices without going through the help page.
At 7 days old I figured it had to be bang up to date but I checked anyway and found the firmware was now up to 13.009 so I did the update in the hope of a bug fix.
Well the bluetooth ain't a problem anymore.  The phone doesn't work!
I know familiarity can breed contempt but I've done a few updates before so I at least sort of know the ropes.  The battery was fully charged and the power was connected.  I didn't remove the USB cable during the process.  In fact everything was correct including the "Update Successfull, firmware version now 13.009" message.
So why does the phone not work?
It's not completely cabbaged.  You still get a buz at switch on but thats about it.  The odd feint line on an unlit screen but no functionality and the PC can't find it to try anf fix the FUBAR.
I've tried the battery/PSU/USB/SIM in/out in various combinations as per posts for other models but nothings worked.
Anyone got any better sugestions or do I just gotta wait till the Techs come back to work?
    Regards All
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Might not be as bad as you think if you got a Update succesful message.
Firstly remove the battery for at least 5 minutes and then replace and see if that makes any difference.
If the aove doesn't work then try the "3 finger deep reset". With the phone powered off, depress and hold these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.

  • Paperweight 6720

its just been one problem after another for me since getting this &^*# new 6720 and having to use Ovi.
Nothing seems to work, its impossible to find anything and signing into Ovi is always a huge issue.. i never have these problems with other sites.
I paid to download a smiley app as even the simple function isn't available from an expensive phone without extra payment, so i'm charged, but no application appears anywhere. Big surprise. Is it just me???
I can't believe this thing is an improvement on my last phone which was 6300. so far its only reliable use has been as a paperweight.
its really driving me nuts. how can i find the app that i paid for?

this has happened to me and its not a big issue contact the ovi store support
    here https://www.ovi.com/services/support/subpage?id=support_about_store
with the info and they will resend you a link good luck
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Can I fully utilize DDR2 800MHz memory on my Compaq 6720s laptop?

    Hello,
I have Compaq 6720s (KU232ES) laptop (with integrated graphics).
    CPU: Intel Core2Duo T5470
RAM: DDR2 PC-6400 800MHz MB: based on GM965 Express chipset.
On intel site I can see that both given CPU and MB chipset supports FSB800, but in spite of 800MHz system memory installed I can see in CPU-Z that it works with 667MHz frequency.
Really, in quickspecs it is mentioned that DDR2-533/667 are supported, nothing about 800.
I can't find related BIOS settings and can't find any BIOS update fixing this.
I'm wondering why I can't fully utilize DDR2-800 taking into account that all(?) relevant laptop nodes support this frequency?
Can somebody explain this to me please?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Please let me take and example: you have a fast car but the road allows only slower cars to run. What you can do ? You have to buy slower car (or waste money with fast car) or you have to build a new road.

  • 6720s usb has died

    hi
    help needed.
i had a problem with my iphone and have been given a new one, but the usb ports on my compaq 6720s seem to have stopped working. i have tried a usd memory stick as well as the iphone but nothing happens..... i need help please.
    thanks

A bad device can blow the USB chip on the mother board.  Go into the CMOS and make sure USB is turned on if your bios has that feature.  Many bios don't have a lot of choices for the end user. If you do find the section that lets you set the speed and weather legacy should be turned on just make sure everything is enabled and hi speed 480Mb/sec is selected, if not it probably won't help anyway.  It sounds like the chip is blown.  I very good repair shop can remove the usb chip and replace it with a new one but those shops are not too common.

  • Connecting 6720 Classic via USB crash PC USB devic...

When connecting 6720 Classic via USB cable to my Acer laptop all USB ports on laptop seize to work and Windows display a message that the USB device has malfunctioned. Eventually the PC is permanently stucked and only way to proceed is reset laptop on power button and prior to that remove the laptop charger to entirely power it off and let it reboot on battery. Harddisk controller is permanently indicating with a green light but harddisk is not spinning. When this happens the Nokia phone does not prompt for USB usage (connection type) and is also hanging in application execution for a while. I would like to be able to configure the phone not to charge via USB, but have not found a way to do that. I believe that the charging via USB is creating a low level hw driver and power surge problem in my laptop. Problem is not consistent but happens from time to time. When connecting the normal 230 VAC charger to Nokia device so the Nokia device is charging when connecting to laptop via USB the problem does not occur. In this situation the Nokia device will not try to charge from USB connection.
Any possibility to disable the charging over USB on the Nokia 6720 Classic device??

I had the same problem with my 6720 when I connected it to my HP laptop via USB to download maps. It crashed my computer making all USB ports unusable until I restarted the computer again. I think it happened after I downloaded the necessary software upgrade. I had to eventually use bluetooth to transfer maps data to my phone. It worked without any hitches. Can someone at Nokia fix this problem with the USB?
