HP Compaq 8510w, Windows XP Pro.
Problem in restore back-up files.
In order to solve a virus problem, I've made back-up of specific files.
Then I've restored initial image of laptop.
I obtained 7 back-up files, but restore procedure ask me for eight files.
Some suggestions ?

Windows Quicktime Pro problems - no video screens [under "file"]

I have downloaded and installed Quicktime Pro and keyed in correct registration codes. [Quicktime 7 Pro is displayed] When in Apple Quicktime Pro- I am unable to see any kind of video screen data under "file" - Audio info is there [New audio recording]- but no video screens of any kind. I have tried: switching firewire cards[3 others] and switched around quicktime preferences ie - Video to Safe mode/Direct X - still no change.

Windows XP Pro problem

I need some advice. I bought Core Java I by Horstmann, but downloaded Java from Sun's website because the disk did not have everything I needed. I was previously able to run Java programs on a Windows 95 machine. I now have a Windows XP Pro machine. In the chapter on installation, they have the following direction for Win 95/98:
"Under Win 95/98, place a line such as the following at the end of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
SET PATH=c:\jdk\bin;%PATH%"
The only other Windows direction is for NT/2000, so I assume the 95/98 solution is best. Dell tech support told me to put the line in my WIN.INI file because Win XP does not have an equivalent AUTOEXEC.BAT file, so that was the file I used.
The book also says to type "java -version" in a shell window, which I did and I got back my version and everything, so I don't think this is a problem.
However, I have a problem when I try to run a Java program. In a shell window, I change to the proper directory without error. Also, I have looked at the program I am trying to run in Textpad, so I know I have the program. The book I have says to type "javac Welcome.java", but I get the old "'javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
The book says the next step is to type "java Welcome", and when I do that, I get "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Welcome." It would appear that this command was executed properly, it just didn't work as intended because no Welcome.class exists. So again, it looks to me like the path is working correctly, but the compiler is not. Please give me some help, I'm stuck on page 25 of this monstrous book, and can go no further.

The only other Windows direction is for NT/2000,
so I assume the 95/98 solution is best.you were wrong; XP comes from the NT line of products.

finding that "java" runs but "javac" not is normal because the SDK installer places a copy of the interpreter in the windows system directories that are already listed in PATH.

Problem during restore from a file

Hello guys,
I'have a big problem during restore a backup, the situation :
I want to upgrade my iPhone from 4.0.2 to 4.3.3
I make a encrypted backup (I know password ...) of the old version -> ok no errors
I upgrade iOS -> ok
When I want to restore the version I ve just backup -> it crashs : iphone restart and error appears "the Iphone was disconnected" ... (it works fine with an older backup of december 2010 ...)
I try to unistall / reinstall iTunes, it's the last version -> same problem
I try one a another machine (Windows 7 and XP) -> same problem

Without any doubt there's some problem with USB device during this operation of restore. After 5 hours looking for a solution, I copied the backup folder (C:\Users\Dani\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync) to an external disk, installed iTunes in other PC, copy the backup and restore without any problem.

Windows 7 pro problem with redirected folder for 1 computer in the domain only.

Hi.
We have a computer in the domain we have that started to behave strangely.
We have redirected folder on the GPO for the Desktop, favorites, and my documents folder.
The server is 2012 essentials
Sometimes the customer want to save it's document and the computer refuse to save the file saying that the folder doesn't exist (path unknow). Mostly restarting the machine solve the problem.I verified the synchro between the server and the computer and
everything seem fine. What I have seen is that went I unplug the system from local network this specific folder disapear. So what I fear is that somethimes the machine can't connect to the server and then the problem start to appear.
I have tested other account on the domain and they run fine.
Any idea where I might look?

Do you mean that only one account have this issue?
What policy do you set?
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
1. Use this account to log in other computers and check if this issue still exists
2. When this issue occurs, ping the IP address and server name of the server 2012, and share us the result
3. As you mentioned in the post ‘Mostly restarting the machine solve the problem’, please run the command
gpupdate /force in powershell and check if this issue still exists.

Hello Spiceworks (All) - I am hoping someone with some expertise with Cisco routers and VOIP can help. My question comes down to the (config-telephony)#ip source-address 192.168.1.65 port 2015 command where to configure ephones the source address only allows a single ip 'source' for ip phones.I'm working on a topology with stub net switches coming into a single router on multiple ports (2 or more) and each switch/stub has multiple phones. The phones show on the router, but unregistered and down. I cannot seem to get the phones to register and function. Macbook Pro Freezing, Can't back up files either to external hard drive either..

Hi,
I'm not entirely sure what happened but my Macbook Pro, (Lion/Mac OS X 10.7.5) just started to freeze a lot. I can hardly browse the web or sometimes browse folders. In some ocassions its even difficult to check the Activity monitor or go to Disk Utitlity. I always see the rainbow beach ball of death and in the force quit window I see the red "Not responding."
Because of this issue, I plan on taking my Macbook Pro to Apple but the problem is I can't even back up my files. I just started a time machine and it goes well until in the middle of the transfer it says:
"The backup was not performed because an error occured while copying files to the back up disk.
The problem may be temporary. Try again later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."
so I tried a different ext. hard drive and still, it says the same message. Upon being fed up of the situation, I attempted to do the old school copy paste from drive to drive but again, in the middle of the transfer it stops and gives me a a differnet message:
"The finder can't complete the operation because some data in ____ can't be read or written."
I checked the file and its a .MOV a video file from my DSLR. I skipped this file and then again, it said the exact same message on a different video file. I can't just avoid these video files. I'm actually a film maker and all this clips are in desparately in need to be backed up.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Atleast backing up the files..

Not sure if this is related -- since my Macbook Pro has been running slow I deleted a couple of apps such as Things, DaVinci Resolve and FrameForge Previz.. Which to led to having my spolight indexing. I thought it was only the index thats making it run slow but the index done now and I can't back up my files!

Problem restoring backed up files

Sorry, I know there's probably a bunch of posts regarding this sort of problem, but I can't find anything that addresses my specific problem, and I have run into quite a few dead ends troubleshooting my recent computer problems.
I recently - about 3-4 weeks ago - installed a new security update from the software update while running os X 10.4.(I believe)11. Upon restart for the update, I got a kernel panic and could not do anything. I checked the RAM, ran the disk utility checker, and ran the hardware diagnostic check and came up with no problems.
This led me to believe it was a software problem. I tried to archive and reinstall twice, but it told me that it could not be completed and to try again. I restarted to try again and it booted into a new OS. I think what happened was that it just could not transfer my user settings all the way, though my files were archived and the os was installed.
When I was getting help finding my files (because I neglected to look in the users folder), I was told that I would be better off if I would back up my previous system file and erase and install. I bought a myBook and did that. Now, after my erase and install, I can't transfer my files back over to my computer - it says that I don't have certain permissions. I even tried mounting a disk image, but it said it was unable to do so.
Does anyone know of a way that I can get my files back? I can see them on my external HD, but I can't get them back.

I suspect most of those coreservices apps can only be restored from the installer disc, unless you can get them onto your drive from your backup somehow. Conceivably some of them might be installed by the combo updater or a security update, but I don't know where there's a list of what is installed by those updaters.
One used to be able to hand assemble OS9 and previous OSes, but OSX has so many bits and pieces that it's really hard to go through everything the way you are. that's why they came up with all these migration assistants and archive and install, etc.
The problem with a restart is I don't know how many of those apps are fundamental to the basic running of the machine and if they are missing your computer might freeze. I guess if worse comes to worst you could always do an A&I at that stage.
Oh, if you do feel like more picking and choosing you could use Pacifist to explore the installer files on your disc and try to install some of those missing files that way. i don't know if this is just getting more and more messy...

Problems with restoring a backup file after I had to get a new computer!

I have tried many times now in many different ways to restore my library. I have the backup files on my desktop and the itunes software loaded I have tried importing the backup files but I get the message that some of the the files were not imported because they could not be found. Then absoulutely nothing is in my library. The files are fine but nothing will import. I need help.

Problem in restore software and files from time machine to new hard disc

hello, recently im just change my macbook's hard disc, and i can't open any of my software and also the finder is keep no responding after i restore my files and software from time machine. Got any solution about it?

I see. Don't do that. I do not believe using Migration Assistant is a valid method of accomplishing what you intend.
Furthermore, unless you are using the "Enter Time Machine" feature, you really shouldn't pick and choose what you want to copy from a Time Machine backup... "no user serviceable parts inside". You can certainly find and individual files and folders in the Finder, but you will run into the permissions problems you describle. I would not attempt to circumvent those protections.
As I understand Time Machine, you must either restore a volume from a Time Machine backup, thereby erasing the volume first, or restore individual files and folders by using "Enter Time Machine" when the backup has already been properly designated for the source.
Since your replacement hard disk - the source, now - is technically new, the latter is not an option. It's as if you were trying to restore to a different computer. This can't be done.

X230 Wi-Fi problems after upgrading to Windows 8 Pro

My X230 came installed with Windows 7 Pro and was working fine for several months. I upgraded my X230 (Intel Centrino Advanced n-6205) to Windows 8 Pro a few weeks back (10/27). The Wi-Fi was working fine for the first week or so. After that I enabled the Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro and my networking problems started around the same time. Not sure if they are related but my wi-fi connection seems to have degraded dramatically over the past few weeks. At first it was slow then it started dropping connections and the it would not connect at all and I had to reboot. It is at a point now that it will not connect anymore. I have tried installing new drivers/removing and installing Intel PROset/rolling back drivers/Remvoing the hyper-V etc. All options seemed to work for a day or so. Right now the Wi-Fi doesn't work anymore. No fiddling around works. Very frustrating, how can I check if this is something related to Windows 8 or if it is related to Centrino. I'm *this* close to rolling back to Windows 7 and be done with this nonsense. I have about 10 devices in the house which connect fine to this wifi router.

Does your notebook have switchable graphics that worked i Windows 7?
The AMD graphics driver provides the audio while using an HDMI output.
You will need to install the AMD graphics driver in Windows 7 compatibility mode to resolve this.

Help needed for Windows 7 Pro problem. After sleep, the system now responds fairly quickly but after about 3 or 4 minutes goes into some sort of stall and goes so slow for around 30 minutes and nothing will respond.

Is this the same machine as in your other thread? Have you resolved the crashes? You have 2 traces, both show an unknown process causing massive disk reads. Please run Malwarebytes to eliminated that possibility
Please download the free version of Malwarebytes.
Update it immediately.
Do a full system scan

Snip one (the small trace from this thread) indicates huge pagefile activity. Is the page file managed by the system? If not what are the settings and where is it located
Snip 2 (from the other thread) run with boot configurations still shows massive HD activity. The unknown process again is causing disk thrashing. The HD writes are what is causing the freezes

Some issues after clean installing windows 7 pro 64bit

I have a couple of issues, I clean installed windows 7 pro, 64bit, (vanilla) restored my license with ABR and used system update to download all the drivers. (no issues until here) But after restarting the system, I found this issues:
1. I have to put the bios in legacy mode for system to boot. Otherwise it gives me a "no operating system found" message. Is there any way to make a proper installation for the system to boot in UEFI and LEGACY?
2. System update didn't install thinkvantage center. (the program that stays in the taskbar). Should this be installed manually? Or system update should have installed it?
3*. I can not use lenovo driver page of my x120e. In IE it shows me repeatedly the wizard to choose my model, although I enter the correct info there. It starts all over again and again. Tried opera, I can see the drivers page, but I can't browse, or expand none of the sections. (all I can think of this, do I need java for the page to work?)
3*. UPDATE: After installing IE 9, java and flash player, still not working. Opera too. Google Chrome works fine. What's the matter with IE and OPERA? What component do I need to make IE work with lenovo drivers download page?
Can anyone help me? Never had to deal with these issues.

Have you tried wiping the hard disk drive and reinstalling Windows 7 Professional x64 from the factory recovery discs while the BIOS is set to UEFI? If so, did that work?

i am having problems exporting my time lapses from quick time pro i need to save my files as photo jpegs but the standard video compression window will not open fully, it just keeps my mac (old 1.6Ghz 2.5 GB sdram G5 still good for most stuff i need) spinning for ever but i can see compression type H.264 selected and the other setting but i can not select any other options as it still thinking but never opens! why is this happening how do i get round it?
my work flow is: 300 images shot on a 5d mark II medium jpegs opened in Light Room cropped to 16:9 then exported and opened in quick time i can save a .mov H264 giving me files sizes of 14 mb for a 16 second time lapse, mp4 9 mb. the only way i can get large files is saving as a self contained movie then i get 300mb files.
i need to save my files 1920 x 1080 photo jpeg codec as i want HD quality.
i am sure there is a simple way round this?

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?
