HP Compaq Business Notebook 6830s P/N - KS016UT

I have a HP Compaq Business Notebook 6830s     P/N -  KS016UT...-.. Windows XP Pro.
I need the Operating System and Driver Recovery discs (that were included with the computer)
I cannot recover the disks through the computer. A guy in the office formatted the hard drive and now I can't reinstall the
software.

Hi:
You will need to call HP technical support for the country you live in at the link below.
Call the number listed for business PC's/notebooks.
You will need to provide the model # and serial number to the customer services rep.

  • Smart ac adapter power output is too low for this computer on business notebook 6830s

    Hallo,
Sometimes he is charging, sometimes he isn't.
I think it's a bad contact between the plug of the power adapter and connector on the motherboard.
Can I do something to improve the contact ?
    thanks

That sounds as if that could be the case. Is the power adapter an original HP or is it an aftermarket brand?
If your notebook was delivered with a 65 Watt Power adapter the it is recommended that you replace it with an identical power adapter. Don't try to second guess the engineers who designed the notebook.
    Best regards,
    erico
I believe it is an original power supply; the model number is noted in my original post. I really would like to agree with you about second-guessing the engineers, but I have seen too many poorly designed systems, including one in particular from HP.
At my last job, our CTO was an HP fanatic, and owned the largest and most powerful HP notebook at the time. I helped him to order a docking station for it based upon the HP compatibility list. When the docking station was connected, he encountered numerous strange power-related problems, and especially had problems with USB devices connected to the docking station ports.
It turned out after a bit of experimentation that the power supply that came with the docking station was inadequate to power the set-up, and using a larger supply completely resolved the issue.
However in my case it does appear this might be a dead or counterfeit supply. I will test it on my colleague's notebook, since it is identical except that he is running Windows (SP)7. I will update you with my findings. Thanks for your help.
    Cheers,
    Tom

  • Licensing restrictions on RE-use of HP (small business) notebook HW components?

Licensing restrictions on RE-use of HP (small business) notebook HW components?
I realize that it is illegal to use some of the (OEM) software that was distributed with the refurbished HP nw8440 Mobile Pro Workstation (small business HP Compaq notebook) I bought (direct from HP) on a different computer system (than the one the software came with).
My question, though concerns the hardware (hard disk, keyboard, memory modules, speakers, mouse, etc.) components that came with it.
Specifically, is it legal for me to use such hardware components on a different computer system (than the one the software came with), or even to sell it, give it away, or dispose of it (separately from the HP computer system that it came with)?
The reason I ask is that one of the licensing agreements that came with the system said something like:
The initial user of the product may make a one-time transfer of the product to another end-user. ... The transfer may not be an indirect transfer, such as a consignment.
and I'm retiring this (Windows XP) computer, and am unfamiliar with such licensing terms.
I just started using its hard drive in an older desktop we have whose hard drive failed.
I believe that should be OK license-wise, but it made me wonder what restrictions, if any, I might have on other future uses of such hardware.
    Thank you.

  • Problem to get 3d work on HP Compaq Business Desktop dx2000

I bought a brand new HP with linux - mandrake - a month ago. I installed mandrake but then I got so confused that I through it all away and started on again with Archlinux that I have become used to.
Everything (well, of course not everything but most :? ) works all right but a few things doesn't.
First I couldn't get CUPS to work properly but that I solved - but don't ask me how. I think I did the same things over 5 times and then suddenly it worked as it should.
Then I had problems with the sound - but that worsk now after following the wiki.
Then I had problems with playing CD and DVD but that I managed to get to work.
    But now I am stuck.
The 3d doesn't work. I tried to install all 3d modules I could find in arch but no result. I tried through hwd -e and lokalsed the modules named there with no result. I even tried NVIDIA (the computer have a intel graphics on board and no Nvidia-card) with the result that now the CD can't play sound-CD and the DVD doesn't work for multimedia despite newest xine and mplayer, koffeine etc I installed.
So I have 3 major problems:
    1) the 3d card I want to start working
    2) the CD-rom should be able to play sound-CD
    3) the DVD should be able to play dvd-films.
    Some hard-data:
    HP Compaq Business Desktop dx2000
Intel celeron with MMX technology 2.6 Ghz and 400 Mhz system bus
    Integrated ADI AD1888 Audio
Integrated Intel extreme Graphics 2 with GDI/GDI+ and Direct Show controller
Graphics memory 16 Mb + extra through Intel Dynamic Video Memory. Complete OpenGL 1.3 support.
    2 DVD-drives installed Toshiba Samsung
Any one that could giv me a hint on how to start the solving of this?

  • Compaq C700 Notebook Earphone jack pinout

I need the Pinout of the Earphone or Mic Jack (they're interchangeable) for an HP G7000 or Compaq C700 Notebook.
I'm repairing a C700 series (C714NR) that is suffering with punk rock damage. The Earphone jack is thoroughly gutted and it's shell shattered. Can anyone give me a part number or the Pin-Out of the earphone or mic jack (interchangeable) that was used in the Compaq C700 / HP G7000 series?  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank You.

  • Tecra M11 as business-notebook

    The M11-Series is a business-notebook?
What can I do, if I have during travelling no contact to a WLAN and use a M11-notebook without a modem?. With the earlier M10-Notebook I have an integrated modem and can it use, for example with iPass, to dial (thru the integrated modem and a hotel-telephone-socket) to the next internet-provider to sent / receive my mails.
What happens with a M11-notebook in this case? Not every travel goes to "WLAN-hotspots"!

PauPau is right. All Tecra and Portege notebooks are designed for business purposes and exact these models have possibility to be connected on docking station that can be placed in the office.
Tecra M11 is not known to me and its exact hardware configuration but if there is no modem you can use some external solution.
To be honest I think that modem usage is nothing but history. On these days every modern business notebook has Bluetooth and if you have mobile phone you can use it as modem. Connection with your notebook can be establishing using Bluetooth connectivity.

  • HP Compaq NC6000 Business Notebook

I have a NC6000 notebook, that has occasionally difficulty in powering up unless you press the panel next to the power buttons just above the CPU, it also freezes once powered up after a while or when I run  or try to run software or updates etc, can anyone give me some information as to what the issue is, just upgraded the HD & Memory, can't see anything visually wrong with the notebook, never been dropped or had any water damage etc, it just started playing up over this weekend.
Any help or advise as how to sort the notebook would be greatly appreciated

    Hi:
DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 memory are not interchangable.
They run on different voltages and even have the slots cut in different locations to prevent us from shorting out the motherboards.
You can install 2 x 1 GB of PC2700 (333 Mhz) memory in your nc6120.

  • HP Compaq Presario notebook

I bought an HP Compaq laptop yesterday.  The wireless and sound did not work.  I tried to get support from the helpline but they "do not support" pcs.  They will not honour the 12 month manufacturers guarantee and will not provide any form of helpful advice at all.  Instead they referred me to PC World.  I did not buy my laptop from there and of course they did not want to know.  I could not restore the laptop as when I tried to use the back-up I got the message "you must be an administrator".
I asked if someone at HP Compaq could send me some back-up disks and was told it would cost me £79.95.  What a profit!  Wish I had thought of that.  Sell a faulty product and then market the solution for an extortionate price.
I am now stuck with a peice of crap HP called a laptop and no one will help me unless I pay £79.95 with no guarantees that this will solve the problem.  The store where i bought this peice of rubbish keep referring me to Compaq.  The lady on the "helpline" is very rude and unhelpful.  Her name is Rosario.  She seems to be the only person there and has a poor command of English.
Take my advice don't buy HP Compaq.

  • Compaq/HP Notebook not supported for upgrade to Windows 7?

I have an older Compaq notebook (DA533AV), which due to the recent announcement by Microsoft, appears to meet the minimum specifications for running Windows 7. It has an AMD 1.7Ghz processor (3400+), 1GB of memory, and a DirectX 9.0-capable video card (NVIDIA 440 GO with 64MB of memory). However, it appears as though NVIDIA's stance on it is that the video component of the laptop is being considered a 'legacy' product, and therefore not worth their attention for creating Windows 7 drivers for it.
Is HP/Compaq committed to supporting their products as long as those products meet the minimum standards for next-generation operating systems? This notebook was an expensive purchase, and it is otherwise quite capable, but I fear that it is going to be left behind, and will only be able to run Windows XP until it finally dies (or applications I want to run are no longer supported on windows XP).
A recent posting of updated Windows 7 drivers for NVIDIA products does NOT include the NVIDIA video card imbedded in my laptop. Without a Windows 7 DirectX 9.0-style driver, my laptop is only capable of bringing up Windows 7 in VESA mode, which is quite limited, and doesn't support the native screen size of the LCD panel of the laptop.
The only way NVIDIA will deliver Windows 7 drivers for my laptop is if HP requests them. How can I convince HP that my laptop is worthy of such attention?

  • Compaq 615 notebook

I have owned a Compaq 615 for a week now and the cooling fan constantly varies in speed and is very noisey. The noise is louder than my desktop PC Worst noise is like a CD / DVD spinning up to speed with a typical 'rush' sound. My previous HP 6715 was very quite. Can anybody advise me if the fan noise on this model is normal? It is also the first laptop I have ever seen that does not have a hard drive activity light!
    Thanks
    Mark

Also a nice way to keep down the fan noise is to put something beneath the back of the Compaq when using it on a desk, which will improve the air circulation and will keep the temp down. You could do it in one of two ways - A) you fork out some cash for notebook stand or b)roll an old newspaper (like my "stand" made from a Sunday Times supplement), tape it so it doesn't unroll and stick it beneath the 'lappy!
Oooh, and the noise after booting from hibernation and/or sleep mode? Play around with either the "system cooling policy" (at least that is the way it's called in windows 7 ((found in Power Options)) ) and also check if you have the more recent bios version  (F.09) installed on your machines
