Hello,
I have probles with the recovery disk. I'm going to restore thenotebook to a state in the purchase and the HP Recovery writes me that the laptop is not partation recovery which is not true.partation recovery and there is data in it. system is installed on C: drive and disk recovery is marked as D: recovery. I do not knowwhat happened to stim. here's one already recovered from therecovery disk using the HP and everything was alright and suddenly can not. I do not understand what there is wrong. if I want to start Recovery at startup HP compaq mini cq 10-510 , OS Windows 7 starter edition CZ.

Mám probles s recovery diskem. chystám se obnovit notebook do stavu pri nakupu a program HP recovery mi píše že v notebooku není recovery partation což není pravda. recovery partation tam je a jsou v něm data. system je instalovaný na disku C: a disk recovery je označen jako D: recovery. Nevim co se stim stalo. jednou sem to jiz obnovoval z toho recovery disku pomoci programu hp a vše bylo v poradku a najednou to nejde. Nechapu co tam je špatně. když chci spustit recovery při startu HP compaq mini cq 10-510 , OS Windows 7 starter edition CZ.
¨notebooku tak mi to piše recovery error. mužete mi nekdo prosim pomoci . děkuji Michal Zikuda

When the installation has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

HP COMPAQ 510 PARTITIONING

i just got my new hp compaq 510... i need your help on how to partition the disk without formatting it.. currently i see only drive C.. but i want it to partition into two.. thank you in advanced!!!

Windows 7 has a disk partitioning tool built in. You first resize (shrink) the C:/ drive down and then you create and format a new partition in the new blank space.

its can to boot only vista and 7 or linux,about XP can't boot,BUT that DISK XP i'm alway use with this laptop
and more action that i'm see when i'm trying install vista or 7 its complite but when i'm put any cd or DVD to device its say no have data in its(blank) but that CD or DVD have full data?

You need to load the SATA ACHI drivers into a copy of your XP installation disk by slipstreaming them, or you need to load the SATA ACHI drivers at the Windows XP installation F6 prompt.

An alternate method is to go into your system setup (BIOS) and change your drive controller setting from ACHI to IDE.
See the manual below, chapter 5, page 5 for where this setting is found. Device Configurations.

You will need to install the SATA ACHI drivers after you install Windows XP before you can change the BIOS setting back to ACHI, or the notebook won't boot.

I am using HP Compaq 510 (VF909PA) from last four years without any problem. Now recently It is started making noise. As I am software Engineer. I got hint, it may be due to dust around FAN. tried to open laptop. but no sucess. Please guide me how to open this laptop for clean dust from around fan and mother board. I also tried to search in this forum "model no. opening the case" but not find any approprite link.

compaq 510 touchpad & keyboard - gets disabled & is not working.This happens only when power cord is disconnected from the mains.i.e. in battery mode.External USB mouse works fine.Updated & tried re-installing drivers, but still the problem exists.Please suggest a solution.!!!

You unplugged a USB device while the notebook was still booted into Windows and on?
Normally that won't cause any issues but , If you did that you may have damaged your system board's Southport chip.
USB is not a plug n' play port like SATA and eSATA are.

Is your notebook still within warranty? By the processor components listed in the manual,I believe it is probably not.

check in device manager to see if it shows your webcam, if it does check if it needs updated

Evo 510 small form factor gone to sleep.........

Our venerable Compaq Evo 510 doesn't give POST messages or anything else. But we do get something: the monitor (I think it must be) gives a warning message that the computer is 'going into sleep mode'.
I have tried changing the battery. That did no good.
Is there any way of troubleshooting this? Or is it a certain indication of the total death of an Evo?
Shame if it is. What a great little machine it has been. Don't make 'em like that any more... or do they?

Compaq 615 crashed. Cannot install the recovery from the partition

Hi,
I got a crash on my compaq 615. I want to restore my comp/windows by using my recovery on the partition but it didn't work.
I want to put a new windows 7 on my comp by usb/dvd but it also didn't work. During the install the windows fily copy is ready(100%) in a few seconds but the next step: windows file extracting stays on 0%. Every time i try.
When i turn the laptop off and start it again there is the following message:
1720-smart hard drive detects imminent failure (failing attr C8)
What can i do? What's the problem? Can anyone help me out?

Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the processor or graphics card on this laptop.

You will see down near the bottom of the page that it is not upgradeable. Some laptops come with the processor soldered to the motherboard. Almost all laptop graphics are this way. The only way that you would be able to get a faster processor/better graphics for this laptop would be to purchase a brand new motherboard. You can do an Ebay search for 'HP G6 motherboard' to see what average prices are if you want to go this route.

Memory upgrade for HP Compaq 6000 Pro SFF

Hi all!.
I've got a problem for upgrading RAM memory on my HP Compaq 6000 Pro SFF. In fact, upgrading is from 2GB to 4GB.
I think all technical details are the same ones. So, there're two memory modules on my PC (ELPIDA 1GB 1Rx8 64 bit DDR3 1333 PC3-10600 CL9 240 DIMM).
Now, I'd like to install only a new 4GB memory module from Kinsgton (KVR13N9S8/4 - 4GB 1Rx8 512M x 64-Bit PC3-10600
CL9 240-Pin DIMM).
Finally, there's a 5 beeps cycle sound at PC power on. So, machine doesn't work. Would you mind to write down what's the problem?

Do you have a black memory slot and 3 white ones? Which slot are you putting the 4 gig DIMM into? Have you tried it with the 4 gig in the black slot and the 2 x 1 gig modules in the white slots?

Problem to get 3d work on HP Compaq Business Desktop dx2000

I bought a brand new HP with linux - mandrake - a month ago. I installed mandrake but then I got so confused that I through it all away and started on again with Archlinux that I have become used to.
Everything (well, of course not everything but most :? ) works all right but a few things doesn't.
First I couldn't get CUPS to work properly but that I solved - but don't ask me how. I think I did the same things over 5 times and then suddenly it worked as it should.
Then I had problems with the sound - but that worsk now after following the wiki.
Then I had problems with playing CD and DVD but that I managed to get to work.
But now I am stuck.
The 3d doesn't work. I tried to install all 3d modules I could find in arch but no result. I tried through hwd -e and lokalsed the modules named there with no result. I even tried NVIDIA (the computer have a intel graphics on board and no Nvidia-card) with the result that now the CD can't play sound-CD and the DVD doesn't work for multimedia despite newest xine and mplayer, koffeine etc I installed.
So I have 3 major problems:
1) the 3d card I want to start working
2) the CD-rom should be able to play sound-CD
3) the DVD should be able to play dvd-films.
