2. Windows Vista 32-bit

Hi:
Please contact HP for the country you live in at the link below and order a set of recovery disks for your nc6400.
Call the number for business PC's/notebooks.
You will need to provide the model number and serial number.
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/hp-information/summary/ww-contact-us.html
You may be able to make your own Vista installation disk.
If you can read your 25 character MS product key, you can make your own Windows Vista installation disk. Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
I selected No, make the ISO file.
It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
I tested both of them (just short of going ahead with the actual install) and they appeared to work perfectly.
Apparently when you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.

After you successfully install vista, you can download the drivers you need from your PC's support and driver page.

  • How to wipe my computer without recovery DVD?

I want to wipe my computer because I cant figure out what is wrong with it and why it wont connect to my hotel's wireless internet.
I am on my other laptop right now and it connects just fine to the hotel's internet. I have never wiped a computer out with Vista and I have tried system restore like 50 times but it wont do a full restore. I am 6 hours away from home and my recovery discs are there.
Does anyone have an idea what I can do or is there another way to wipe my computer without the discs? Im not sure when I am going home and I really need my Toshiba to work.
    Thanks
    Nikki

    Hello Nikki
Can you please tell me which Toshiba notebook model do you have?
Anyway, you cannot have factory settings again without recovery DVD. What you can do is to install operating system using original Microsoft installations CD/DVD and later install all drivers, tools and utilities additionally but it can be complicated if you don't have experience with it.
Maybe you should explain to us what your problem is exactly.
I cannot imagine there is some big problem with WLAN. If the WLAN card is listed and installed properly (check it in device manager) all you must do is to enable WLAN card properly. At first enable WLAN switch the WLAN LED must be ON. Then use FN+F8 key combination and enable WLAN card.
If there is everything OK you should be able to connect to the WLAN. The principle is the same as in WXP. Click on START > Connect to and be sure your favourite WLAN is listed there.

  • Win7 recovery without recovery disks

Being a bit of a fool i ignored the "make backup disks" prompts.
Ive deleted the original windows 7 install in favour of windows 8 but after finding issues with playing certain games in win8 i would like to be able to put win7 back on it
My hard drive still has the recovery partition but pressing f11 at bios screen does nothing
is there anyway to recover my pc back to the original setup without recovery disks?

    Hello Dundeemanny:
Sorry you need to use recovery disks and I belive F-10 or F-12 are recovery keys. It will tell you in the blue window when you first turn on your computer. When you installed Windows 8 it wipes out everything. That was why you had issues playing games. Because it wiped out your orginal drivers. HP hasn't developed the drivers for windows 8. I hope you made a set if not they do not cost much from HP's Parts store. The ones you get from store have every thing more disks come with the set. F-2 is bios F-8 is safe mode. Please click on Kudos if this resolves your issue. Thank you frrw.

  • Can I use my Mini 200 for anything without Recovery Disk?

    Hi,
I´ve got Mini 200-4200. Few months back I had a hard disk failure and a new one was sent by the warranty. I´m abroad though, so it was sent to my friend, who sent it to me, in Nicaragua. The Hard Disk arrived, BUT the recover USB stick not. (they came separately on post, so he posted them to me separately too)... 7 weeks of waiting for post..I think it will not arrive before I leave the country in 6 days and continue travelling.
I´m not a computer person, so the questions might be a bit odd ->
Is there any possibility to do ANYTHING with my Mini (except put it to post and send it back to europe) ???????? I suppose there is no chance to do recovery by connecting with usb to another computer and deal with it online? ....
    Thanks,
    Maire

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers that are all different. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
I can assuming you are refering to the HP Mini 200-4200ea Netbook Computer - p/n B8H26EA but this is only a guess, as there are about 73 Mini 200-4200 models available.
It may be possible to download a Windows 7 ISO from Digital River, a Microsoft hosting partner, and place a boot image on a USB stick. Please see this HP forum thread entitled "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" for instruction on downloading and creating a bootable Windows 7 media. The only problem I see, is there doesn't appear to be a "Windows Starter" image available. One side note... you can install any version you would like on a trial basis... you would have a full 30 days to use Windows before it requires you to enter a valid key. This will get you up and running for the time being.

  • HP Pavilion Dv6 7078CA Recovery without recovery disc

Hello!! i have an Hp Pavilion Dv6 - 7078ca, and after just 6 months of use, the Hard Drive just died.
because i live in Brazil, and brought the Computer back home, i couldnt use the warrant, since the warrant is for canada only.
so i changed by my own the HDD for one on the exact same model that it had, but for my surprise, when i used the recovery media that i had made, the DVDs were corrupted, so i coudnt recover it using the recovery media.
I tried to install the windows 7 home premium (the same that came with the notebook), but there was some hardware incompatibility, so i couldnt install the drivers of it.
and the worst problem is: i cant even order other recovery media, because even if i ask them to deliver in some friends house in Canada, so this friend ships for me, HP canadian website dont accept international credit card.
so, my question is, anyone know if i am able to restore my computer without this recovery medias? if yes, how can i do that?
    thanks!!

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion dv6-7078ca Entertainment Notebook Computer. According to the specs, this model shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed at the factory. Here is the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your computer.
You can use the information in this HP forum thread entitled "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download, create the media, and install Windows 7 Home Premium using the Windows product key on bottom of your computer. Please note that this will not restore any of the HP "value-added" that originally come installed on your computer.
If you have any issues installing Windows, please post back. If, after Window is installed, you have missing and/or unknown device listed in the Windows Device Manager... please provide the "Hardware Ids" of the devices.

  • How do I install mountain lion without recovery partition.

I have a Mac Mini with two 500 GB disks that I mirrored (RAID10) and lost the recovery partition in the process.
The Mountain Lion installer indicates it will install anyway but without some minor features.
But, when it reboots as part of the install process, it does not actually install.
Is there something special I need to do?

Did you use LionDiskMaker or DiskMaker X?
Boot the machine with the option key down until you see your bootable USB stick.  Select the latter, and reboot.
When the installer boots up, you will first need to choose Utilities and Disk Utility. Select the target HD device name and then the partition tab. Select 1 partition, name it Macintosh HD. Format is Mac OS Extended, and option is GUID. Apply. Exit Disk Utility and return to the installer, which will now show your newly partitioned HD as available for install.
When OS X is installed and all updates applied, press shift+command+U and run disk utility again. Verify/repair permissions and verify the boot disk.

  • Is there way to install OS and drivers without recovery CD?

    Hi...
I installed my notebook with the recovery cd...
but i get disappointed because it installed a lot of unusual programs...like aol, sonic-pro, games...
is that a way to install windows and drivers only ?? without this boring programs ???
i don't want to uninstall after instalation...it's not the same thing...

    Hi
I cant understand user who bye a high performance notebook with many different features and then will not use this functions. Of course, on the Toshiba recovery CD you will find the OS and all Toshiba drivers and utilities. Without this drivers and tools and utilities you will be not able to use the additional Toshiba functions.
But as in the previous posting mentioned you can install the fresh Windows OS and then you can install the drivers. But the easiest way is to use the Tosh recovery CD and then if you want you can remove some applications.

Do you have a bootable backup drive?  Without that or without a boot disc you are strongly disadvantaged.  There are ways you can attempt recovery but they are not simple.
If you don't have an installer disc available you can try effecting repairs using fsk in Single User Mode - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417

  • How to create Lion recovery boot usb WITHOUT recovery partition?

I give up.  I can't find the answer to this.  So, I'll just ask and hope.
I have a mid-2011 mini that was upgraded to Lion.  However, it had a Bootcamp partition running Windows 7.
Apparently, whoever upgraded my machine didn't create a recovery boot disk before upgrading.
So, I have no recovery partition and apparently no ability to create a recovery boot usb without one.
Apple's ******** support policy is to completely wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything--which is simply not going to happen.

    Eric. wrote:
    Have you tried this?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433
I made one on a USB flash drive.
Problem with that solution is that:
Note: In order to create an external Lion Recovery using the Lion Recovery Assistant, the Mac must have an existing Recovery HD.
If you kept a copy of the installer, then open it up, and restore the InstallESD.dmg to an empty partition or flash drive. Do note that doesn't give you the Recovery HD, but you won't need one since you can reinstall w/o downloading anything but additional components from Apple's servers.

  • Satellite A100-999: Recovery process (without recovery DVD/CDs) ?

    Hi all,
here is my GOAL: I want to reinstall the original Windows Vista as it was when we bought that laptop.
My PROBLEM: we never succeeded to create that recovery DVDs (just after the purchase), always gave an error... today and to my surprise, I cannot find any recovery tool from the OS either...
1- At power off/on: I tried the "0" key (as read in internet) but did not do anything special..
2- I tried then from this options menu (after F8 at reboot): REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER
Then (after choosing spanish language and logging as user) I tried to lo launch the WINDOWS COMPLETE RESTORE but it said that no CD/DVD found ....(no current issue with this CD/DVD player = working fine)
3- I tried then the other interesting option : HHD RECOVERY (More or less like this, as I have it in spanish version)...Just a pop-up opened (maybe about the recovery DVDs) but without any buttons to follow the process....
    Trickier situation now, isn't it?
    4- INFO:
I could find the hidden partition and unhide it. It contains folder and files: a 'source' folder, 'boot.sdi' file if I remember well..and maybe more..
=> I copied them on a USB key and recorded as well on a new DVD (and the image.iso of them as well) and repeat the above points 2 and 3, but nothing changed...(the content of this DVD is read without any problem on another laptop)
    => QUESTIONS:
    - This folder and files (found in hidden partition) means that the recovery is still there?
    - Is there a special file.exe or process to follow in order to launch these files found?
(my ultimate last chance: order that recovery CDs to Toshiba if still possible)
    Thank you in advance
    S.

    > I understand now that these files (in hidden partition) are those used for showing this special menu (after clicking REPAIR MY COMPUTER) with WINDOWS COMPLETE RESTORE, HHD RECOVERY, ...
    > Is that right?
No, the small hidden partition is created by Windows system and these are NOT Recovery disk files.
The Toshiba Recovery disk files are placed (usually) on the D partition this is not hidden.
    > Then I suppose that I should have a RECOVERY folder somewhere..but I read in some posts that comment type :"the A100 series has not been equipped with the HDD recovery partition"
This might be right since the A100 is older series and the HDD recovery was not available in this time
As far as I know the A200 series and newer series were equipped with such Recovery option.
    > if not available then, I'm already then on this last-chance-step explained above? this means to order the recovery DVD on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
This is the link to the page where you could order a recovery disk for Toshiba EU notebook series but Im not quite sure if you will be able to order such disk no due to the notebook age.

  • Is there any way for downloading LION without recovery tool? macbook air (mid 2011) ?

I recently bought a macbook air(mid 2011) and I am using ADSL internet services which needs couple of hours to complete downloading of LION. but when I come back to see what happened few hours after download started, I found myself in Lion Recovery startiting page !
seems that I am in a endless loop !!
In addition, Its not possible to download it from app store, since it shows that the application has beed installed already. is there any suggestion ?
I guess I should first download it using speed download and then install it !

Have you tried holding the Option key down and then clicking on "Purchases" in the App Store interface? If this works, then you'll see "Install" instead of "Installed" against Lion. Download Lion then -- it will go to your Applications folder -- and do not give your password for installation to execute. You should then have the full Lion installation package in your Applications folder. With "Show Package Contents", in "Shared Support" find InstallESD.dmg. If you burn that to a blank DVD you'll have a Lion Install disc. But since you have a MacBook Air, you could use a (not less than 8 GB capacity) pen drive to store the installation without having to do the full download every time.

    //Jop...(Jonas F Jensen).
by the way, I couldn't awoid to see that on my desktop it says "Toshiba -Choose freedom". In anyway that NOT my first impression of toshiba!

    Hello jopsen
Before I answer all your questions I just want to give you some information. All Toshiba notebooks are delivered with Recovery DVD or CD. This recovery image contains Operating system, all necessary drivers, tools and utilities. The software is bundled with hardware and you can use it just with your unit. Like you know it is not necessary to make any Windows registration.
    1. False. You can use recovery CD or DVD to create different partitions. In this case you must use expert mode option
    2. False. Just if you use Standard installation the whole HDD capacity will be used.
    3. As far as I know the Norton security software installed on your unit is additional service from Toshiba. I am not sure but you can use it for a year and after that you must pay for the update license
    4. False. You can do with your unit what you want and nobody forced you to use just Toshiba image. You can install on your notebook what ever you want (WXP Home, WXP Pro. Or Linux)
    5. Have no experience with MS VS and can not give you a proper explanation. Just a advice. Before you want to install something make a restore point in System Restore tool. On this way you can go to previous status. Try to deactivate Norton before you try to install MS VS
    6. as far as I know I386 folder is copied to HDD and if you need some files browse to I386 folder
    7. Why not? Install the unit using MS WXP full version.
    8. Download the Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 Trial from the Microsoft website:
    https://microsoft.order-4.com/onenotedl/welcome.asp?id=front
Install the OneNote 2003 Trial, using the Product Key from the Certificate of Authenticity which is provided with your computer, rather than the Product Key provided on the Microsoft website. The Toshiba-supplied Product Key will unlock the full version of OneNote
    9. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba download page
    10. That is right. The OS on your unit can be used just with the notebook and must not be activated. You have bought a recovery version.
By the way, the recovery installation can be finished for 20 minutes and the unit is ready for work. It is very good for users who dont have a lot of experience. Believe me for usually installation you need about two hours and there is no guarantee that you will be able to configure the unit properly.
About impressions we can discus but, in my opinion, the recovery installation is absolutely user-friendly for non expert users.
    Good luck!

  • Can a T60 be reset to factory spec without recovery discs?

Is it possible to reset a T60 to out of box spec without a recovery disc? My niece let her boyfriend do something and it is gone.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum!
It depends on whether the recovery partition on the hard drive is still intact.
Pressing F11 on boot should trigger the Rescue and Recovery process, which - if succesfull - will also delete ALL the data from your hard drive.
    Good luck.

  • Satellite L755-16L - Installing new Win7 without recovery option

    Hi...
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-16L.
I want to re-install windows 7 ,but the recovery option will erase everything....I dont want to use that ,I saw an activation key at bottom of the laptop for win 7 saying it is oa mea ??
So is there any way I could do that without erasing everything.

    Hi
    Please check http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
There you can find all info about HDD recovery installation and exact info what will be deleted exactly (check Note).
Product key at the bottom means that you have bought notebook with preinstalled OS and valid licence. This key belongs to preinstalled OS version. Dont think you can use it for OS activation if you try to install own OS version using Microsoft installation disc.
    > So is there any way I could do that without erasing everything.
I dont know what do you mean under everything.
If you want to have clean preinstalled OS again best option for you is to back-up all important data to external device and after OS installation you can copy all this stuff back to notebooks HDD.
