HP dc5800 SFF: Microcode Install with New Q9400 CPU

I have a HP dc5800 SFF with a core 2 duo dual core cpu. Checking the supported CPU list I installed a supported Q9400 cpu. Booted the machine and got a microcode error. Researched and found that I needed to download the Microcode file which I did from this site, the file is called "sp51245.exe".
How do I install this file? The computer won't boot, just gives microcode error. Do I put the old CPU back in then run the Microcode File then install the Q9400?

Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional won't install with new serial number from Adobe

Having replaced my PC I tried to install Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional but I was unable to activate registration as it had already been registered and is an 'old product'. I have contacted the Adobe on-line advisor and was given a new serial number and a file to download.
The set-up wizard will not complete even though I type in the new number accurately and each time I've had to abort installation as it says it can't be verified.
Does anyone have any suggestions or explain what I might be doing wrong please?

I have been able to install the disc but it tells me that I have to activate it with a time limit of 30 days and counting. Activation fails each time I've tried. As I'm nearing the end of the time limit I decided to contact Adobe for advice. They gave me a download package and new serial number but it's only suitable for OS XP and Windows 2000 so I'm unable to download it. I was told by the advisor if I still had problems to use the forum as a means of support so that's why I'm talking to people here.
I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobate Pro 7, so I might try reinstalling the disc to see if it gives me another 30 days grace, that, at least, would be a way around it.
I'll now follow the link you've given me. Though I do suspect I'm in a bit of a cul de sac.

IOS AIR app won't install with new certificates

I've been devloping my first iOS app in AIR for a few months. Testing on up to 3 devices has gone fine. It's time to submit to the app store. I'm developing for a client who wants the app in their name in the app store. So they set up an Apple iOS developer account and gave me access. When I made a new set of certificates and profiles with the new account the app failed to install on my testing device. I've remade all the certificates multiple times and double checked that I have the correct UUID and am not using a distribution profile.
Is there a problem using someone else's account with keys and certificates made on my mac? What else can I try?

Final Cut Studio 5.1 won't install with new imac7,1 running Snow Leopard

Howdy
I bought Final Cut Studio 5.1 (FCP5, Motion2, etc) and tried to install on a very modern machine running snow leopard.
The machine meets all the system requirements, as far as i can tell, but when i click to install, i get the following:
Alert
Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software. See the Read Me for details.
Is this a graphics card issue?
Obviously i'm a bit annoyed because the of the costs and i thought a high-end computer would be able to run this 5-year old software package.
If anyone can advise me of a way to circumnavigate the problem using the tools i already have, i'd be very appreciative.

It was bought from a reseller and is version 5.1.
I was under the impression that you could only upgrade if you had a previous version of FCS installed. Since i cannot install the version i have, i cannot upgrade.
I did try the 'esc' key but it didn't have any effect at all - this is a good tip though, so thanks for the idea. I'm sure one day i'll need to use it.
I'm close to admitting defeat and selling it on again, but if there are any FCS experts out there with a fix, that'd be super awesome!

Re-install with new version

I have to re-install my MacBook Pro with the install DVD, Mac OS version 10.6. Only... I'm on the other side of the world and don't have access to my install DVD. A man travelling with me do have the Install DVD, but with version 10.6.6. Can I use this to reinstall?

If it is a retail disk (white in color with a snow leopard on the disk, yes). If it is a grey install disk, no as those are machine specific.

How do I install this new Intel CPU?

I currently have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and I bought an Intel Core 2 Quad processor. Can I install this on my iMac, and if so, does anybody know of a good site that will show me how?

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately no you cannot upgrade the processor in your iMac. The only item that is intended to be user upgradable is the memory, some people are brave enough to change their internal hard drive but even that isn't for the faint of heart.

P7N Diamond won't boot with new Intel Q9400

I recently bought a new Intel Q9400 CPU to replace my old Q9450 that was broken and causing the computer to freeze. I tried to install the new Q9400 CPU and the computer would not boot. The red LED on the mobo was on. When I pressed the on button the fans span for about half a second but then stopped and the machine shut down. I have replaced it with a firend's E8400 and it boots fine again.
Before I installed the Q9400 I flashed the BIOS to v1.4 so I was confident that it would work but it didn't. After it didn't work I cleared the CMOS and it still didn't work.
Is there a compatibility issue with P7N Diamond and this CPU? My mobo is revision 1.0, does this make a difference? If not then I suppose the CPU must have been DOA and I'll need to RMA it.

Very unusual for a CPU to become "broken"--more likely the PC developed another problem? I'd test the 9450 on another system too if I were you.

Will Time Machine with Leopard Sync With New Hard Drive and Snow Leopard?

My computer is a 20" iMac that I bought in late 2008. The hard drive had trouble so Apple repaired with disk utility. Week later, more trouble so they did full hard drive erase. Data was backed up on Time Machine, 500GB also bought in 2008. After full hard drive erase, and reinstall of basic software, upon reboot, computer would power on then immediately off. It doesn't get past white screen. They advised a new hard drive install is needed.
A computer friend can install a hard drive just fine for me. However, I do not have the Leopard install disc. He could do it with Snow Leopard but I am scared. I'm afraid because my Time Machine last backup was with Leopard, not snow Leopard. I do not have my application discs with me, they are in storage in another state. Thus, if upon adding replacing hard drive and installing Snow Leopard my computer won't be able to sync FILES and APPLICATIONS from Time Machine because its on Leopard I will have a problem.
How can I either 1)Get a Leopard install disc and do that with the new hard drive install OR 2)make sure that a Snow Leopard install with new hard drive won't prevent my Time Machine from being able to install the saved FILES and APPLICATIONS if I don't have original APPLICATION (ie Aperture, Photoshop) with me? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
That Mac should have come with Leopard. If so, call AppleCare. They'll send you replacement discs for a nominal fee.
Once this is sorted out, make a 8-10 GB partition on an external HD or your internal HD, and use the Restore tab of Disk Utility to copy the Install disc to that partition. Then you can boot and run from it instead of the physical disc. It will boot and run much faster, too.
He could do it with Snow Leopard but I am scared.
If he does, and doesn't provide a retail Snow Leopard disc, you must buy one ($29). It's a violation of the license to share software, and you'll need a SL disc to do things like restore a Snow Leopard backup, or the Snow Leopard Apple apps, or repair the internal HD.
Your best bet is to stay with Leopard, at least until you have access to your 3rd-party software discs.
What you can do, however, is borrow his Snow Leopard Install disc (assuming it's a white Retail disc, not a gray one that came with his Mac), and use it to do a full system restore from your backups. That's not a violation of the license, since you don't install or use OSX from that disc; you just use the Installer utility on it to restore the Leopard OSX and all your data from your backups.

Did you install a different processor than the one that came with the PC?
If so, what processor did you install?
A microcode error means there is an unsupported processor installed or you need to install a microcode update to allow for support of the processor you installed if it can be supported in your dc5800.

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.

I just changed the OS from Vista to Windows7. I have a folder on the same computer with the old iTunes library. I installed a new version of iTunes from scratch. How do I move my music library, etc from that backed up folder into the new iTunes folder.

During the process it copied my iTunes library to a folder on this same computer (marked it Windows.old)
Once the OS was done, I installed a new copy of iTunes on the Windows7 but it now has a blank library (folder)
How do I move my music from its current folder location (on this same computer) into the new iTunes library folder ???
There don't seem to be specific instructions on how to do this.

If you simply copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder, it is the exact same library, not a new library. No info is lost.

Like the title says. My 1 TB drive failed and unfortunately my computer isn't covered on the replacement program even though my hard drive is the one they are claiming to replace. So that is not a solution just to get that out of the way. So I replaced the hard drive. What I am having trouble with is re-installing my OS. I have 10.6. When I load it and restart it just spits it out and I get the question mark folder. What am I doing wrong is there a step I'm missing? I did do a back up to my Time Machine before the crash. Can I plug it into it and reload format? I'm new to this so any help would be appreciated.

Well, let's hope that nothing was jiggled out of place when you were installing the new hard drive. Your optical drive may just be out of alignment or the disc you have is "dirty." Get a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol, then clean the disc as thoroughly as you can starting from the center and working outward in a concentric circlular motion. See if that helps. In particular clean the inner portion well.
If this does not help, then you have a problem. You have opened the computer yourself. That action voids all support from Apple. If you take the computer in for service the store may refuse to service the computer. This is not related to your now expired warranty.
