HP Designjet 5000 - is it ok to use expired printheads/cleaners?

I recently purchased a used Designjet 5000 and was told that it needed new dye (not UV) printheads and cleaners. I found some unopened, factory sealed ones for cheaper online, but they expired in 2010. Are they still okay to use?

  • Wha do I need to consider when trying to fix my Designjet 5000?

    G'day everyone,
I picked up a Designjet 5000 yesterday, which 'doesn't work'. I have no experience with printers, but it was only $50 so I thought I would give it a go. On turning it on, it gives the 'Error memory test' error, which I have determined means that the 128MB DIMM memory module is dead. That's not a problem, as I've sourced replacements all over the internet.
This machine hasn't been in use for several months now, and is covered in dust. I gave the carriage belt a light squeeze and it snapped in half (just to give you an idea as to what condition it's in).
My main question is regarding the ink system. This printer doesn't have any inks, printheads or service station cartridges installed. How do I go about getting each of these parts? The inks seem fairly simple, there are inks on eBay and various other places around the internet, but the printheads and service station cartridges I'm not so sure.
Any advce would be great, as I'm definitely a printing novice! I'm sure I'll have problems down the road with residual ink having dried in the tubes etc, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it!
    Cheers!

Sounds like a good deal :-).

  • HP Designjet 5000 help

Has anyone successfully printed to a Designjet 5000 from Mac OSX?
The machine is running mountain lion.
    I tried...
...installing a couple different driver packages from HP.
    ...choosing webjet and tcp.
...perhaps I am missing a print queue name?
I am able to add the printer, and select a driver. I hit print, it prints, but nothing comes out of the printer, not even a blank page.
Anyone care to take me step by step?

    Use these drivers:

  • Windows 7,  Adobe Acrobat and the HP DesignJet 5000 PS

We have users that connect to a networked DesignJet 5000 PS to print  out design documents. One of our users was recently upgraded to Windows 7  and is now unable to print from Adobe Acrobat.
When  the user attempts to print, the print dialog box appears. However, when  she selects the printer from the dropdown box, Adobe hangs and then  crashes. No error messages are displayed aside from the standard "This  program has encountered a problem and must close."
Other  programs can print to the printer. This issue only happens in Adobe,  and only on the computer running Windows 7. I was unable to locate a  Windows 7 driver, likely because the printer appears to be discontinued.
I have tried in both Adobe Acrobat 8 as well as 10, and both produce the same issue. Since the issue only occurs in Adobe, I cannot find fault with the printer itself. Please provide any assistance you can.
    Thanks

  • AUM not re-using expired UNDO extents

    Hi there,
The space consumption in the UNDO tablespace is continuesly growing.
I've increased the size of the UNDO tablespace several times now (currently 400M) but this offers no permanent solution (datafiles are set in no autoextent mode).
It's possible to calculate the maximum size that you need for your UNDO tablespace using certain values from v$undostat and v$parameter.
According to this calculation our UNDO tablespace shouldn't be larger than 100M.
It looks like there is a problem with re-using expired UNDO extents, as indicated below (SUM(EXPBLKREUCNT) = 0 ):
    SQL> select sum(EXPSTEALCNT), sum(EXPBLKRELCNT), sum(EXPBLKREUCNT) from v$undostat;
    SUM(EXPSTEALCNT): 7
    SUM(EXPBLKRELCNT): 1792
    SUM(EXPBLKREUCNT): 0
Does anyone experience the same problem ?
    Regards,
    Miklas

  • Designjet 5000 PSU--Replace with 1050C PSU possible?

So I think the PSU has finally gone out on my Designjet 5000PS 60" printer.  It's been an intermittent problem for a few weeks now, sometimes booting up fine, other time giving me an error saying the HD has failed.  I've pulled out the HD and powered it up on another computer and it spins up just fine.  I put it back in the printer and it won't spin.  I metered the power into the HD and it shows 4.8 for the 5 volt and 0 for the 12 volt supply. I have a power supply from a 1050C that I can swap in.  Anyone know if that's compatible between the two models? Just to confirm the HD was okay, I powered it up from a separate power supply while the HD was in the printer and it spun up okay and got a confirmation on the screen.  It then went on to initialize but then gave an error that, when I looked it up, said it's either the trailing cable or the power supply.  I can replace both, if needed, but since the meter read 0 volts, I figured that was the better option.  Unless anyone thinks the trailing cable not seated correctly would stop the HD from spinning up. Thanks!

I don't think it could either.  But here's a quote from that thread I mentioned in my previous post: The error occurs where the PSU fails a digital check on power up.
The psu does two checks, one digital followed by an analogue one.
There are two LED's on the Main PCA immediately above the Memory Slots. When the unit is switched on from the back the RED LED should come on for the digital check of the circuit. It checks: psu to main pca, main pca to firmware, main pca to interconnect pca, main pca to iss pca also main pca to trailing cable connection, main pca to hdd (where present).
Where any of these fails then the message will arrise and the GREEN LED will not light up signaling an analogue check of the circuits failed. No power applied.
Soooo... where no red led psu is definitely gone (order part Q1251-60122).
Where red led and no green check all electrical connections. Could poss be another part that caused the failure.Tropical areas and electrical connections being what they are.
Where it is another part be sure to meter all motors, in case you put in a new psu and it gets blown out again straight away.
Don't know how accurate that info is.  I do have power to the red (D-2) but not the green.  But does that mean the PSU doesn't send power to the HDD until it checks all those connections first?  That's what I'm taking away from that.

  • OAS continues to fulfill requests that use expired sessions (bug???)

When I make a request against one of our OAS servers after I know my session has expired, the server responds with an HTTP response that includes a header to clear out my SSO login cookie (I think that's what it's referred to as), but it still fulfills the request as normal.
Utilizing Apache JMeter, I was able to determine the details of such a transaction.
    ----------the request----------
    GET https://our_oas_server:443/some_resource
    Cookie Data:
    OHS-our_oas_server-443=(a long hexadecimal string)
    ----------the response----------
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Date: Tue, 19 Feb 2008 16:54:08 GMT
    Server: Oracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.2.0.0 Oracle-HTTP-Server
    Set-Cookie: OHS-our_oas_server-443=; expires=Thu, 01 Jan 1970 12:00:00 GMT; path=/
    Cache-Control: max-age=0
    Expires: Tue, 19 Feb 2008 16:54:08 GMT
    Cache-Control: private
    Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100
    Connection: Keep-Alive
    Content-Type: text/html
    (the HTML)
If I allow the cookie to be removed, a subsequent request is responded to with a redirect to our Oracle SSO server.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone else confirm it? Can anyone shed some light on it? This behavior appears to be a security issue as it means someone can continue to interact with the server as an authenticated user without the need to re-authenticate, even after the server has been restarted.
    Gregg

Please retest with the latest patchset applied. I know some issues in this area have been fixed in the past years in the AS patchsets.
If the issue still occurs after applying the latest patchset, please ask again, then please use the Identity Management forum as it may then be config related.

  • How do I set iPlanet Web Server 4.1 HTTP Response Header to use expires so that the browser will cache content longer

I want to add in all html files returned the "expires" value.
Based in HTTP 1.1, I think it is possible by adding the META tag between the <HEAD> and </HEAD>:
    <META> HTTP_EQUIV:"expires" CONTENT="Sun, 21 Jun 2002 15:05:00 GMT" </META>
I include this in my html file (but "expires" doesnt work :(( ). Which options are necessary to modify in the WS?
How does the internet options of the browser influence?
PD:(This is a question posted last 5/28, but is has no response yet.)

The above reply does not take into account that I am trying to use GROUP POLICY EDITOR to make it the default browser.

  • Using expired credit card

I've used Skype a long time. In the past, you weren't able to add and remove payments easily, if at all. For some reason, and this has happened a few times over the years, and again this month, the subscription will default to an expired credit card even though there is a current card on file on the account. Then I get spammed with tons of payment refusal errors, my number expired, and so has my subscriptions. Totally unacceptable. I was able to remove this old card from the account, so now there is only one card. But something tells me devs needs to get this addressed, especially if more than one card is on the account and serves different purposes. Everyone better check.

  • Dull color using VGA connection from T61p to Samsung 5 5000 TV

Hello, using my Lenovo T61p's ThinkVantage Presentation Director I can get my computer to send its display to my 55" Samsung 5 5000 series LED HD TV using a VGA cable.  However, the image is quite dull and discolored.  Any one have advice on how to fix this for better viewing?

this is the problem with vga cable, you are probably better off with hdmi or dvi cable.

  • Monitoring and controlling the Tag values of Logix 5000 using Labview while using RSLogix 5000 to program the PLC

    Hi
I want to know how to change the input bits or tags of a PLC which is programmed using RSlogix 5000. But I need to use Labview to monitor the input bits ( like in Digitial Input bits) and then be able to change the BITS while the PLC runs and the PLC should be able to detect the change in input bits and act accordingly. The programming is done using ladder logic and its done in RSLogix 5000 and dumped into PLC using RSLogix.
    Thanks in advance

    msu,
Once you have the OPC server up and running the best way to communicate with is is through the Datalogging and Supervisory Control module for LabVIEW.  The DSC module allows you to bind shared variables to items on your OPC server.  Then you could just read from or write to these shared variables to access the data on this OPC server.  If you don't want to get this module you could also just use datasocket to read/write from an OPC server.  The URL you would use in data socket would look something like "opc://localhost/{your opc item's address}".

  • HP Color Laserjet 4700 and HP Designjet 5000PS

I've been working for 4 days trying to get these 2 printers to work in Snow Leopard to no avail.
I've Reset, Reinstalled several times. The 4700 will never install and Designjet installs, but will never communicate and print.
I also have a HP Laserjet 4200 that works absolutely fine. Go Figure.
I've been in contact with Apple and have done everything the Apple tech has said but am now awaiting further communications from him as they are working on it.
All the printers work fine off of a Leopard Computer that is sharing the printer under Appletalk.
(Is bonjour just a new name for appletalk????)
If I ever get it fixed I'll post an update.

Finally got everything working, and it took for ever trying to reconfigure the IP address on the Designjet 5000.
    Here's how to do it:
Configuring TCPIIP on the HP Designjet 5000, 5500, 800, and 500

    and press
NOTE: If BOOTP=Yes, the printer is configured to retrieve its TCP/IP parameters
overthe network from a BOOTP, RARP, or DHCP server. If BOOTP=NO, the
printer is configured to accept TCP/IP parameters from the Front Panel.
    10. On HP Jetdirect print servers with firmware L.20.04 or greater, press the Up arrow
    DHCP=yes appears. Press ENTER.
    11. Press the Up arrow key to change to No. Press ENTER.

  • DesignJet 5500ps vs Mavericks

Our office has an HP DesignJet 5500ps that sees occasional use throughout the year. Our prints are usually 42" x 60" landscape-oriented posters (scientific posters created using PowerPoint 2011 and printed from PowerPoint). Since the last time we printed posters, we updated all of our Macs to OS X 10.9. A few days ago while trying to print a poster, it kept getting oriented the wrong way at the printer - it was getting printed in a portrait-orientation, so about a foot was cut off from the left side of the print. The 5500 PS has a setting on the front panel where you can change the rotation/orientation of the print, but changing this setting has done nothing since the poster kept trying to print in the wrong direction.
The plotter's settings also haven't changed (it's turned off most of the year). I haven't changed the settings on the Mac other than updating to OS X 10.9, which made me think there is a problem with the driver. I don't see the DesignJet 5500ps (or DesignJet 5000 series) listed here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
If anyone has any suggestions on trying to get these to print correctly, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I'll have to wait and see if Apple will update the driver to work with the 5500ps.

That model is shown as supported on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669.
Did you try updating the drivers as instructed? Deleting and re-adding the printer?
If Software Update doesn't work, you can delete the /printer and the /Library/Printers/hp folder and rerun Software Update.
If that fails, you can download the drivers from:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Hope this helps.
