HP Deskjet 1000 J110 - Pausing causes long print times

Hi everyone. My company just bought the Deskjet 1000 J110 series for our shipping computer.
Every time we try to print, the machine pulls the paper in a few inches and pauses while the power light is flashing. It will sit like this for a few moments before printing a few more lines and pausing again (with the power light flashing.) It repeats this process several times. Sometimes, maybe only one line will print, other times it will be more. Eventually, the entire page IS printed and looks just fine with crisp readable text or barcodes with no visible errors. However, it takes anywhere between 1 and 3 minutes to print a full page. This happens whether it is a shipping barcode, a body of text from Word, or even the ‘Print Test Page’ option under the printer properties. Seriously, it took me ten minutes to print six pages today, and they were each only about a half a page of content.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
I’ve included some system information for reference.
Thanks!

Hi,
The symptoms you described will most likely indicate a communication issue.
Unplug the USB cable from the back of the printer, then try printing an hardware self test print as following:
While holding the power button pressed, open and close the Cartridge Access Door for 10 times, then release the power button.
If the self test being printed as it should, try plugging the USB cable into a different USB port, make sure to connect it directly to a free USB port on the back of your PC and not by using any USB hub.
If there is still no change, i would suggest you to try using a differenct USB cable and check for any change.
If the same appears while printing a self test with no USB attached, it might be a cartridge problem affecting the device.
If so, contact the local HP Call Center in order to troubleshoot the problem and provide any required service according.
You may find the local number listed below:

Please let me know of any change,

My Deskjet 1000 J110 series is cutting off bottom parts of sentences. I have not had this problem in the past. It only does it to a few sentences & my headers.
What could be causing this and what can I do about it?

    Hi IlianaGrace96,
There are several things that can cause your problem.  I would start by reviewing the following HP Consumer Support document:
Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems
    1. Perform a hard reset on the printer. Unplug the power cord from the back.  Leave it out for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
    2. Use the automated tool to align the cartridges.
    3. Use the automated tool to clean the cartridges.
    4. Manually clean the cartridges with a lint free cloth and water.
    5. Try soaking your printheads in semi warm water for about 5 minutes.
    I hope this helps.

  • HP Deskjet 1000 j110 sleep mode on Mac OSX 10.7.2

Just bought a Deskjet 1000 j110 for an iMac.  I have it hooked up and updated drivers loaded (as of 11/21/11).  When I let the printer sit idle, it appears to go into a sleep mode (power button fades in and out).  When attempting to print, I see "Waiting for printer to become available" in the print queue window.  It remains this way and never actually prints.  I hit the power button, thinking that pressing the it would bring the printer out of sleep mode, but it didn't work.
My work around is to physically pull the power cable from the printer and reconnect it.  Once that happens, the HP utilities see it again, and the print job goes through.  Obviously, this is not the way it should work.  It seems there is something wrong with the driver on Mac OSX 10.7.2 - I would think there would be code to 'waken' the printer and submit the job, but apparently not.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong with this configuration and/or driver?

    Hello cfournival,
As this is an older thread I want to verify that you are using the latest driver and sofware for Mac OSX.
You can find information about it here

  • Deskjet 1000 J110 stopped checking ink levels

    Hi
    I have a Deskjet 1000 J110 and I'm running Windows 7.
The HP software used to allow me to check ink levels, now it doesn't. I checked them no more than 2 weeks ago without a problem. Now, when I tried to check them, the option simply wasn't there. I'm not sure, but I think the shortcut on the HP menu folder is directing me to the Control Panel printers folder, not to the HP software like it used to.
Anyone has any idea what the problem might be?
    Cheers!

    Hi seileach,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I read your post and see that the Printer Assistant isn't opening to view the ink levels when you click on the printer shortcut.
I will be happy to help you.
Try going to start, all programs, HP, Deskjet 1000 J110, then click on the Deskjet 1000 J110 again to see if the Printer Assistant will now open this way.
If not, then most likely the driver is corrupted. I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

  • Installation of HP Deskjet 1000 J110 Series

    Dear Guys,
I bought an HP Deskjet 1000 Printer J110 Series. Unfortunately, the installation CD that came with the Printer is for Mac OS X Versions 10.5 and 10.6 and i can't install it onto my MacBook Pro using the Mac OS X 10.8.4 Version. I have also tried to search on the website any possible solutions and have come along none.
Is any one out there who can help out?
    Thanks
    Maurice

When I connect the printer to the laptop, with Internet connected, the computer tries to automatically search for availability of printer drivers. However, at the end of the search a message is retuned that there are no available drivers for installation of the said printer and that I should check software update later.

  • HP Deskjet 1000 J110 Series Printer

When I try to print something, I get an error message on my HP computer saying: "Printer in an error state."  The pop-up window for the printing process lists: "Status: Error - No Toner/Ink."  I have just had both ink cartridges refilled, so I'm at a loss for what's going on here.  How do I get the printer out of this "error state" and get the printer to indicate that I have a full complement of ink?  Please Help!

    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I have examined your post on a cartridge-related error message, and I would be happy to assist you!
Please follow this document on An 'Ink Cartridge Problem' Message Displays on the Computer.
If you come to the point of replacing a defective cartridge, I must note that it is your choice if you want to refill your ink cartridges, but be aware that the print quality and reliability may not be as good as the original HP.
If you are still having problems after replacing your ink cartridge, please call our technical support at 1-800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Hp m551 low toner report- long print time

Our hp m551 usually prints really fast - the second we hit the print button. But lately it is giving me low toner report for the black cartridge on the LCD. It keeps flashing this over and over. But it says it is time to get a repalcement read and not necessary to change  the cartridge yet. It is so annoying. I already know this. It's been reporting this low toner for months now.
The last couple weeks when we send a file to rpint, it will take forever  to print one page. It think s for 15 mintues before finally printing. I think it has asomehting to do with this low toner report constantly flashing.
The other issue I have is that the product specs say that the toner that came pre installed with the printer should yield 5500 pages black or 6000 color pages. We print very lightly on this printer and I think we have only printed about half that amount. So I don't understand why the toner should be low so soon.
Can someone please help me with this problem?

    Hi anobium62,
If you are still experiencing an issue printing black I'd like to help. Please complete all of the steps in the following document; Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages. Although I hope this resolves the issue, it might not. • Just simple titles causes long render times

Lately I have noticed that adding simple titles really seems to take a very long time. These are not complex titles. They do have a border, but 10 minutes for a 1:30 tiltle over just one layer of video? What's going on here?
    Best,
    Tom

Obviously 10 minutes for a "simple" title is ridiculous so there must be something unusual about your project and workflow.
It will be impossible to guess what those factors may be without  detailed relevant info on the title and project specs.

  • Firewire failure causing long boot time

Hello, I have an issue where my firewire ports seem to have failed. It takes around 10 minutes for the mac to boot up. The only fix I found for this was to disable the firewire ports from loading up, then it will boot normally. there are 2 firewire ports, 1 800, 1 400, I fail to see how both can fail at the same time. If I enable the ports(and wait 10 mintues for hte mac to boot up), it says unable to list firewire devices. Any ideas on this?

Well initially I put a new HD and memory in(thinking one of those was bad, especially when I would run the disk repair utility, it would always find errors). After that failed I watched the post on bootup then looked at the system log and noticed an error(I can't remember it now) but after googling that error I discovered it was the firewire ports causing the issue(which I then disabled them by moving a file so the firewire ports wouldn't load) I will try to find the exact error message I was receiving and which file was removed.

  • Fsck_hfs causes long boot time

    Hello,
since yesterad my macbook pro takes about 1 minute to boot (i.e from a grey screen to a login screen). Normally it was about 10 seconds.
    Things I tried:
    1.  Disk Utilities -> Verify Permissions & Fix Permissions
It found 3 errors and fix two of them. This one still repeats:
Permissions differ on Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/Safari.help/Contents/Resources/index .html. Should be: lrwxr-xr-x , They are: -rwxr-xr-x
    2. Disk Utilites -> Verify Volume
    Everything was ok.
    3. Resetting NVRAM & SMC
After each step I've checked boot time. No success. It was about 40 sec but still too long. Then I used verbose mode. I noticed that my mbp freezes on fsck_hfs. It takes from 10 to 20 seconds. Here Why does my macbook air run fsck every boot I've read that fsck_hfs shouldn't run on every boot. Yet from my fsck_hfs.log I can see it runs every time I boot my mbp. I also read that fsck_hfs runs when journal is dirty and it means that something is wrong with HDD or OS.
    Things I tried later:
    4. fsck_hfs -f from Terminal. It showed "Volume bitmap needs minor repair for under-allocation"
    5. fsck -fy from single_user mode. It showed that my drive appears to be ok.
    6. From OS X Recovery: Fix Permissions and Fix Volume. Fix Volume said that my HDD was fine and no repairs was done.
Also I have more than 50% of my drive free.
Now boot time is about 30 sec. Is there anything I can do or maybe is it normal that at some point mbp just starts to slow down?
    My mbp specs:
    Macbook pro mid 2012
CPU: Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz
    RAM: 8GB
    OS X 10.9.4
    HDD: TOSHIBA MK5065GSXF Media

  • Java cacheing options causeing long load time.

I have a user that is claiming that if she has "Keep Temporary Files on my Computer" checked the applet takes four minutes or more to load and if it is unchecked the applet loads in under 30 seconds. Anyone ever seen this? Anybody know a good work around besides changing the settings on the JVM?
Edited by: DavidDSiebert on Feb 20, 2009 5:53 PM

Response time decreases due to CPU overhead (scan to find the class, loading and invocation) when applet is cached. Fine tune your applet to reduce the CPU overhead.

  • HP Deskjet 1000 Printer - J110a cannot print in color using WIndows 8

J110a cannot print in color using WIndows 8. The printer will only print in black and white even though it works fine on a PC with Windows 7. I installed the latest drivers from the HP web-site.

    Hey @KC1964,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that since installing your HP Deskjet 1000 Printer on your Windows 8 computer you have not been able to print in colour. Because you are able to print fine from a Windows 7 computer we know that this issue is not being caused by your printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. I'm thinking that your machine is  either experiencing a driver conflict or a setting issue within the Windows 8 computer. Please follow the steps below.
    Step 1: Check Settings:
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens type Devices and Printers
    Click on Devices and Printers
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Deskjet
    Select Printing Preferences
In the Preferences window select the Advanced button on the bottom right
Look for the Greyscale or Print Black Only and make sure they are disabled
If all settings are correct, yet the issue persists, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Try Alternate Driver:
To confirm if this issue is specific to the Deskjet 1000 driver I am going to have you load an alternate driver on your machine.
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens type Devices and Printers
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your Deskjet 1000 and left click on Printer Properties
Left click on the Advanced tab
    Left click on New Driver
When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left
Select Deskjet 9800 as the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 doesn't appear than select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.
After selecting Deskjet 9800 hit next to complete the New Driver Wizard
Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK
    Select the General tab
Rename your printer back to HP Deskjet 1000
    Hit OK
Lastly, right click on your Deskjet 1000 one more time and left click on Printing Preferences
Left click on the Paper/Quality tab
Left click on the 'Normal' dropdown for Print Quality on the bottom right and change this to Fast Normal
    Click Apply and OK
Now that the new driver is added in, please test printing in colour again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!
