HP Deskjet 1000 j110 sleep mode on Mac OSX 10.7.2

Just bought a Deskjet 1000 j110 for an iMac.  I have it hooked up and updated drivers loaded (as of 11/21/11).  When I let the printer sit idle, it appears to go into a sleep mode (power button fades in and out).  When attempting to print, I see "Waiting for printer to become available" in the print queue window.  It remains this way and never actually prints.  I hit the power button, thinking that pressing the it would bring the printer out of sleep mode, but it didn't work.
My work around is to physically pull the power cable from the printer and reconnect it.  Once that happens, the HP utilities see it again, and the print job goes through.  Obviously, this is not the way it should work.  It seems there is something wrong with the driver on Mac OSX 10.7.2 - I would think there would be code to 'waken' the printer and submit the job, but apparently not.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong with this configuration and/or driver?

Hello cfournival,
As this is an older thread I want to verify that you are using the latest driver and sofware for Mac OSX.
You can find information about it here

  • Deskjet 1000 J110 stopped checking ink levels

    Hi
    I have a Deskjet 1000 J110 and I'm running Windows 7.
The HP software used to allow me to check ink levels, now it doesn't. I checked them no more than 2 weeks ago without a problem. Now, when I tried to check them, the option simply wasn't there. I'm not sure, but I think the shortcut on the HP menu folder is directing me to the Control Panel printers folder, not to the HP software like it used to.
Anyone has any idea what the problem might be?
    Cheers!

    Hi seileach,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I read your post and see that the Printer Assistant isn't opening to view the ink levels when you click on the printer shortcut.
I will be happy to help you.
Try going to start, all programs, HP, Deskjet 1000 J110, then click on the Deskjet 1000 J110 again to see if the Printer Assistant will now open this way.
If not, then most likely the driver is corrupted. I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

  • My Deskjet 1000 J110 series is cutting off bottom parts of sentences?

My Deskjet 1000 J110 series is cutting off bottom parts of sentences. I have not had this problem in the past. It only does it to a few sentences & my headers.
What could be causing this and what can I do about it?

    Hi IlianaGrace96,
There are several things that can cause your problem.  I would start by reviewing the following HP Consumer Support document:
Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems
    1. Perform a hard reset on the printer. Unplug the power cord from the back.  Leave it out for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
    2. Use the automated tool to align the cartridges.
    3. Use the automated tool to clean the cartridges.
    4. Manually clean the cartridges with a lint free cloth and water.
    5. Try soaking your printheads in semi warm water for about 5 minutes.
    I hope this helps.

  • HP Deskjet 1000 J110 - Pausing causes long print times

Hi everyone. My company just bought the Deskjet 1000 J110 series for our shipping computer.
Every time we try to print, the machine pulls the paper in a few inches and pauses while the power light is flashing. It will sit like this for a few moments before printing a few more lines and pausing again (with the power light flashing.) It repeats this process several times. Sometimes, maybe only one line will print, other times it will be more. Eventually, the entire page IS printed and looks just fine with crisp readable text or barcodes with no visible errors. However, it takes anywhere between 1 and 3 minutes to print a full page. This happens whether it is a shipping barcode, a body of text from Word, or even the ‘Print Test Page’ option under the printer properties. Seriously, it took me ten minutes to print six pages today, and they were each only about a half a page of content.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
I’ve included some system information for reference.

    Hi,
The symptoms you described will most likely indicate a communication issue.
Unplug the USB cable from the back of the printer, then try printing an hardware self test print as following:
While holding the power button pressed, open and close the Cartridge Access Door for 10 times, then release the power button.
If the self test being printed as it should, try plugging the USB cable into a different USB port, make sure to connect it directly to a free USB port on the back of your PC and not by using any USB hub.
If there is still no change, i would suggest you to try using a differenct USB cable and check for any change.
If the same appears while printing a self test with no USB attached, it might be a cartridge problem affecting the device.
If so, contact the local HP Call Center in order to troubleshoot the problem and provide any required service according.
You may find the local number listed below:

  • Installation of HP Deskjet 1000 J110 Series

    Dear Guys,
I bought an HP Deskjet 1000 Printer J110 Series. Unfortunately, the installation CD that came with the Printer is for Mac OS X Versions 10.5 and 10.6 and i can't install it onto my MacBook Pro using the Mac OS X 10.8.4 Version. I have also tried to search on the website any possible solutions and have come along none.
Is any one out there who can help out?
    Thanks
    Maurice

When I connect the printer to the laptop, with Internet connected, the computer tries to automatically search for availability of printer drivers. However, at the end of the search a message is retuned that there are no available drivers for installation of the said printer and that I should check software update later.

  • When I use I tunes radio, click pause, leave mac to go into sleep mode, wake mac

when I use I tunes radio, click pause, leave mac to go into sleep mode, return  press play I tunes will not resatrt on same station. I have to pick another for a few seconds and then return to original. then it works ok.
not a big problem but its annoying. Any ideas ?
    thanks very much

I lugged the G4 around town to three different computer repair shops, and they all confirmed that I had installed the fans correctly, and all fans were running fine. Of course, this only makes the problem harder to solve.
Furthermore, my friend was using the G4 last night when it was a cool 72 degrees (F) in his apartment, and the computer still forced itself into Sleep mode after just over an hour of use. He was using Final Cut Pro at the time, editing a project spread across two external FireWire hard drives. I just can't imagine this amount of activity overheating the G4, which was my editing workhorse for six years before handing it over to my friend.
When I replaced the cooling fans, I did select new fans with slightly lower airflow than the original fans (which many people have replaced, due to the amount of noise they produce). Any opinions on whether that could be the issue?
    _Case fan:_
    Original: 151.85 CFM airflow
    Replacement: 109.6 CFM airflow
    _Power Supply fans:_
    Original: 38.1 CFM airflow
    Replacement: 26.5 CFM airflow

  • Firefox won't open after sleep mode on mac

I have a mac mini 10.9.5 and because I use it so often, I usually put it to sleep rather than shut it off. When I wake the computer and try to open Firefox from my dock, the page won't load - or it loads a blank page. I have to wait a couple of minutes or so until the "Icon wheel" stops spinning, then close it and reopen it. It works the second time, every time however. If I try to close it while the "icon wheel" is still spinning and reopen it it just does the same thing (won't open again) which just prolongs the frustration. So I HAVE to wait for the wheel to stop and then retry it every time. If a blank page comes up and I try to go to my GMail, then that page won't load until I reopen Firefox. Very frustrating! Any ideas? BTW I am not great with computers so I would appreciate very detailed instructions.
I came to the conclusion that a computer is like a person maybe. And that when you wake it up it takes a few minutes for it to get alert again.... Is that the case?

One of the old work arounds for this was to minimize the browser before putting computer to sleep.
However you might also benefit from trying to browse in safe mode to see if its an acceleration or add on issue. Let it go to sleep and does it still happen?

  • HP Deskjet 1000 J110 Series Printer

When I try to print something, I get an error message on my HP computer saying: "Printer in an error state."  The pop-up window for the printing process lists: "Status: Error - No Toner/Ink."  I have just had both ink cartridges refilled, so I'm at a loss for what's going on here.  How do I get the printer out of this "error state" and get the printer to indicate that I have a full complement of ink?  Please Help!

You certainly don't have any third-party software that's causing your sluggishness.
Sometimes, a failing hard drive can cause sluggish behavior, however.
Boot into your Recovery partition (hold down the command and R keys whilst booting) and once at the Recovery screen, select Disk Utility. Select your hard drive (in your case, the aptly named "Macintosh HD") and click on the "Verify" button. If you get green text telling you that everything appears to be OK, then it's not your hard drive slowing things down. If you get red text telling you that the disk needs to be repaired, click on the "Repair" button. If the disk can be fixed, it will be. If not, call back.

  • How can I setup a Deskjet 3050a/J611 to my updated MAC OSX 10.9

SInce updating my MAC with OSX 10.9 (Maverick) I have not been able to add my printer to my computer as wireless.  I can add by USB cable but I am not being given the option to "convert a USB connected printer to Wireless".  I can print when connected by USB but all wireless capability are inoperative.  I have seen other discussions pointing to Jon-W steps but that process did not work for me.
I have used the WPS method and the HP screen confirms that I am connected to my wireless network but my MAC does not discover my deskjet under Pinters an Scanners via wireless (only via USB plugged in).

  • Dead instances in corba mode on Mac OSX

    Hello,
Since our transition to IDS CS5 we often experience that corba instances run into a dead-lock randomly.
With a dead instance, i mean that the process is still running, the ior file still exists and seems to be valid (the contentstring is the same as on startup), but the application object is lost. It occurs randomly somewhere during execution of our code and almost always on a different part of our code.
I can simulate this state of IndesignServer by running a corba instance on my MacBook Pro, closing the MBP and wait for about an hour. Then reopen it and trying to connect. Then i get:

This is exactly what i get on our customers servers (which don't "go to sleep" obviously). Just setting my MacBook Pro to a very short sleep time (1 min.) doesn't invoke this error. This makes it hard to simulate the problem. Apparently the sleep invoked by closing the MBP and waiting an hour isn't the same as putting it asleep, all parameters on, after 1 min.
    All OSX versions are 10.6
    So i have two questions:
    1) What are the possible causes of those dead-locks? Errors in our code (both java and our own IDS plugin) normally cause a real instance crash which is traceable.
    2) Is there a way to re-establish a connection to a dead instance?
Thanks in advance for any input!
    Bart Devos.

No one any input? It becomes a real problem reported by several of our customers since we changed to CS5.
Can anyone point me into possible directions we should investigate?
    What we checked already:
    1) If no more than 1 thread accesses an instance at a time.
    2) We checked out what the error log really meant. We found out that this problem was reported since java 1.4.20. We compile all code for 1.5, but customers work java 1.6.24/26. No idea if this is an issue.
    3) We checked out the ORB string and found out that the connection was made with an ipaddress and not with a servername, excluding dns problems.
    We are really stuck here.
Thanks in advance for any usefull input.
    Bart Devos.
