HP Deskjet 1000 stopped printing

Running Slackware 13.37, on 1686 with Athlon AMD XP2200+ under cups 1.4.6-i486 and HPLIP 3.113a on kernel 2.6.3.7.6-smp.
Was printing fine when ink ran out, installed new black and ran hp-levels showing 80% color 100% black.  Tried to print from Firefox 4.0 and from command line both cases I get "Device Communications Error 5012.  Strange it would stop under this situation.  Is there a reset?  User and root both members of scanner and lp groups.  Now user attempts to run hp-levels yields:Unable to communicate with device (code=12):...  lsusb shows: Bus 001 Device 003: ID 03f0:8811 Hewlett-Packard
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome

  • HP Deskjet 1515 Stops Printing Mid Way

I have a HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515.  Whenever I try to print a certain pdf(It's a whole colored page) it stops printing it midway. I have tried converting it to a .doc, that doesn't seem to fix the issue as well. I tried printing other non- intensive colored pictures but it seems to print it just fine; I just have problems printing with that one pdf. I've tried using HP Print and Scan Doctor and reinstalling the drivers but it still doesn't fix the problem.
I honestly don't believe that this printer cannot print such kinds of documents so any suggestions will be a great help!

    Hi @lloydk26
nd welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into print issues. I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information we can provide you with accurate information.

Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
I would recommend renaming and resaving the PDF file, in case of any corruptions.
I would also recommend a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Another suggestion I would make would be updating Adobe:

  • Deskjet 1000 not printing

I recently got a new ink cartrage and tried pinting something for school but it wont print. It shows that i do have ink but when i try to print it gives me blank pages. HELP!

Hello , Thanks for posting in the HP Forums, and welcome! I'd like to help you with the blank pages that are printing out from your HP Deskjet 1000 Printer. Have you tried printing anything in color? Or from an alternate program? If printing in color works okay, then it could be an issue with the cartridge that you purchased. Follow the steps in the document below to resolve your print quality issue.Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Deskjet 1000 (J110), 2000 (J210), 3000 (J310), and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2010 (K010a) Printer Series If printing in color does not work, and you are still having the issue from alternate programs, make sure you have the most recent version of the full feature driver installed on your computer. • Deskjet 5440 stopped printing wirelessly from my MacBook Pro after upgrading to OS 10.8

My home printer is connected by cable to a desktop Mac (Power Mac G5).  I have always printed wirelessly to it from my MacBook Pro laptop through our home wireless network.  However, just recently I upgraded the operating system on my laptop to 10.8.2.  At the same time, I upgraded the HP driver software (from HP) that is supposed to allow the 5440 to work with the new OS.  Since then, I can print from my laptop if it is connected by cable to the printer, but not wirelessly.  When I attempt to print wirelessly, get a message that says the printer is not connected.

So you are using Printer Sharing on the PowerMac?  If so, on the PowerMac, go to System Preferences > Print & Fax and delete the printer with the '-' sign at the bottom of the printer list.  Re-add it with the '+' sign.
Make sure that Printer Sharing is checked and that in System Preferences > Sharing that Printer Sharing is also checked there.
Now, on the MacBook Pro, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan and click the '+' sign to add the printer.

    Hi wigglyworld22,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you are unable to print pdf documents from the internet to your Deskjet 1000 printer.
HP ePrint is designed to let you print from virtually anywhere to an HP printer that supports ePrint. If you are just printing from your computer at home I would download and install the full feature software and drivers for the printer.  I have included a document on how to install your printer using Windows 8.1.

  • How to add a new custom paper size? I am using a HP Deskjet 1000 J 110a printer.

How to add a new custom paper size? I am using a HP Deskjet 1000 J 110a printer. I am using Windows XP home edition. The Custom option itself is not appearing in the process of selecting paper sizes in Printing preferences. I have installed this printer just today, but I bought it eight months back in Dubai. Could there be chance that since I purchased it in Dubai and I am using it in India, the software's not functioning properly.

  • HP Deskjet 1000 Printer - J110a cannot print in color using WIndows 8

J110a cannot print in color using WIndows 8. The printer will only print in black and white even though it works fine on a PC with Windows 7. I installed the latest drivers from the HP web-site.

    Hey @KC1964,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that since installing your HP Deskjet 1000 Printer on your Windows 8 computer you have not been able to print in colour. Because you are able to print fine from a Windows 7 computer we know that this issue is not being caused by your printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. I'm thinking that your machine is  either experiencing a driver conflict or a setting issue within the Windows 8 computer. Please follow the steps below.
    Step 1: Check Settings:
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens type Devices and Printers
    Click on Devices and Printers
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Deskjet
    Select Printing Preferences
In the Preferences window select the Advanced button on the bottom right
Look for the Greyscale or Print Black Only and make sure they are disabled
If all settings are correct, yet the issue persists, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Try Alternate Driver:
To confirm if this issue is specific to the Deskjet 1000 driver I am going to have you load an alternate driver on your machine.
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens type Devices and Printers
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your Deskjet 1000 and left click on Printer Properties
Left click on the Advanced tab
    Left click on New Driver
When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left
Select Deskjet 9800 as the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 doesn't appear than select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.
After selecting Deskjet 9800 hit next to complete the New Driver Wizard
Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK
    Select the General tab
Rename your printer back to HP Deskjet 1000
    Hit OK
Lastly, right click on your Deskjet 1000 one more time and left click on Printing Preferences
Left click on the Paper/Quality tab
Left click on the 'Normal' dropdown for Print Quality on the bottom right and change this to Fast Normal
    Click Apply and OK
Now that the new driver is added in, please test printing in colour again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • HP Deskjet 2512 All-in-One Printer vs. Deskjet 1000 = Same internal mechanisms???

Any one know if the HP Deskjet 2512 All-in-One Printer and the Deskjet 1000 have the same internal gears and printing mechanisms ?
The 1000 is a pure printer with no scanner, copier etc. The 2512 visually looks the same as the 1000 but does scans, etc. Just $15.00 difference in price at Walmarts.
The HP 1000 gears grind away when I print a magnetic sheet of 8 1/2 x 11"  and will skip printing on different place on magnetic sheet.
I was wondering if it would do me any good to go up a notch to the 2512 to print said magnetic sheets?
    Thanks in advance - Michael

    Hello michaelforsure,
You could check out the specs for the 2512 to see the thickness of what it will successfully print.  You could compare that to the thickness of the magnetic sheets and see if it is compatible.
Please let me know if this helps.
    Good luck!

  • Deskjet 1000 J110 stopped checking ink levels

    Hi
    I have a Deskjet 1000 J110 and I'm running Windows 7.
The HP software used to allow me to check ink levels, now it doesn't. I checked them no more than 2 weeks ago without a problem. Now, when I tried to check them, the option simply wasn't there. I'm not sure, but I think the shortcut on the HP menu folder is directing me to the Control Panel printers folder, not to the HP software like it used to.
Anyone has any idea what the problem might be?
    Cheers!

    Hi seileach,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I read your post and see that the Printer Assistant isn't opening to view the ink levels when you click on the printer shortcut.
I will be happy to help you.
Try going to start, all programs, HP, Deskjet 1000 J110, then click on the Deskjet 1000 J110 again to see if the Printer Assistant will now open this way.
If not, then most likely the driver is corrupted. I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

  • Have Deskjet 1000 printer....need assistance in printing 4 X 6 photos on this printer....

Purchased 4X6 HP photo paper to print photos on my HP Deskjet 1000 and am having difficulty ALIGNING the photo paper so that the picture prints properly on the photo paper....any suggestions other than dumb luck on aligning these photo papers on this printer???? Thanks.

As Larry pointed out you should be able to get to these options in the Print window:
Then in the Paper Handling section (I think) you should be able to select the paper tray. If it's not that section it will be one of the others as the HP may have slightly different options.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

I have a macbook pro and an HP deskjet 1000, when i try to print it says the printer is offline.  I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it like the printer instructions recomend, but it still says offline.

It could be as simple as a bad USB cable. If you have another, try it.

  • HP Deskjet 1000 J110 - Pausing causes long print times

Hi everyone. My company just bought the Deskjet 1000 J110 series for our shipping computer.
Every time we try to print, the machine pulls the paper in a few inches and pauses while the power light is flashing. It will sit like this for a few moments before printing a few more lines and pausing again (with the power light flashing.) It repeats this process several times. Sometimes, maybe only one line will print, other times it will be more. Eventually, the entire page IS printed and looks just fine with crisp readable text or barcodes with no visible errors. However, it takes anywhere between 1 and 3 minutes to print a full page. This happens whether it is a shipping barcode, a body of text from Word, or even the ‘Print Test Page’ option under the printer properties. Seriously, it took me ten minutes to print six pages today, and they were each only about a half a page of content.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
The symptoms you described will most likely indicate a communication issue.
Unplug the USB cable from the back of the printer, then try printing an hardware self test print as following:
While holding the power button pressed, open and close the Cartridge Access Door for 10 times, then release the power button.
If the self test being printed as it should, try plugging the USB cable into a different USB port, make sure to connect it directly to a free USB port on the back of your PC and not by using any USB hub.
If there is still no change, i would suggest you to try using a differenct USB cable and check for any change.
If the same appears while printing a self test with no USB attached, it might be a cartridge problem affecting the device.
If so, contact the local HP Call Center in order to troubleshoot the problem and provide any required service according.
You may find the local number listed below:
